Changes and Challenges is Book 3 in the Notebook Mysteries Series in which young Emma Evans is the heroine of the story. Set in 1885 this book centers around Emma who runs a business of her own with employees who help her solve crimes. Armed with her keen observation skills and with her trusty notebook in hand she sets out to solve the mysteries that seem to pop up everywhere she goes.

In Book 3, Emma and Jeremy’s romance is blossoming and she is faced with the challenge of how to handle this relationship without the restraints of marriage and having children. This is a rather difficult and complex situation because in 1885 it is a sin to live together without being married. Determined to make it work, Emma and Jeremy devise a plan to maintain their relationship on their own terms.

There is a lot going on in Emma’s life and she faces each new situation with strength and determination. Emma’s life changes dramatically when she is asked to the reading of a will of one of her former clients. To her surprise Emma is given a substantial inheritance and she must figure out the best way to manage this gift. Emma decides to set up a charity with the inheritance so that she may help make the world a better place.

Emma’s life is far from boring and at every turn she finds mystery and intrigue. When Emma is asked by a local charity hospital to investigate missing drugs it is not long before she uncovers a large underground child kidnapping ring. A trip overseas to help Tony solve the case of his missing friend leads Emma to a plot involving murder and takes her deep into the world of counterfeit art in France.

I loved the strong character development of the main character Emma, who is lovable and easily relatable. She is smart, feisty, strong-willed, stubborn, tough as nails and not easily bossed around. Emma has keen observation skills and is quick to notice the little things that many others overlook which helps her solve crimes. This book was full of action, adventure, suspense, mystery, danger, intrigue and even a bit of romance. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first two books in the series because they introduce the characters and lead up to Book Three. I highly recommend this book!

I loved this book about friends Trezzie, Maia and Fig who share their ideas with one another on how to make things like a rainbow with only a piece of paper, a mirror, and a glass of water. This book was full of super cool ideas and teaches science in a way that is both fun and creative. It was easy to read while also being informative and contains beautiful illustrations throughout the book that make reading entertaining. I cannot wait to read it again and again with my young nieces and try out some of the science experiments in the book. I highly recommend this book!

This is two books in one containing Bella: An Appalachian Love Story and Jagged Dawn: Logan’s Beginning. These two books are prequels to the Logan McKenna Mystery Series.

In Bella, we are taken back in time to 50 years prior to where Bella’s story first begins. In the Appalachian hills we meet Logan’s great grandmother Norah, and Giovanni, a young immigrant from Italy. Giovanni is a master artist crafting violins and it is he who creates Bella, a violin that is passed from generation to generation. Living life in the Appalachian mountains was not always easy but the family persevered and did what they could to survive off the land.

In Jagged Dawn we are introduced to Logan, the great granddaughter of Norah, We find Logan in California just weeks prior to the accident that changes her entire world. Logan is left wounded from the accident and faced with an uncertain future. Her once comfortable life is thrown into a tailspin, and she is forced to change everything she has ever known. She must decide if she will just survive or find joy in her life again. Returning home, she finds her beloved violin Bella and starts playing her again. She also finds her sapphire blue 1958 Corvette and finds herself enjoying cruises down the highway in her Corvette. These are two things that she had left in her past but that she now finds that bring her comfort and joy.

Although these books were very different from one another they flowed beautifully together. Norah and Giovanni’s love story was beautiful, yet tragic. Logan’s story was tragic yet inspiring. Both books show exactly how resilient people can be after tragedy strikes. These books were beautifully written, and I look forward to reading more in the Logan McKenna Mystery Series.

Lost Soul is Book One in the War of Destiny Series. In it we are introduced to young Julia, the daughter of a wealthy family living in 16th Century London. Julia falls head over heels in love with Adam, one of her servant’s sons, which makes her father angry. Julia’s father feels that Adam is not good enough or rich enough for his daughter, so he arranges for her to marry a wealthy man named Gregory. Despite Julia’s protests her father forces her into marriage and forbids her from seeing Adam. At the tender age of 15 Julia finds herself in a loveless marriage with a man who is cold, cruel, and controlling.

When Julia’s husband does the unthinkable and tragedy befalls Julia, she feels helpless with nowhere to turn for help. Suddenly she is presented with an opportunity to escape her miserable existence when she meets a stranger named Samuel. He offers her a deal that will forever alter her destiny and will grant her freedom as well as a reunion with her true love Adam. The only catch is that it would mean that Julia would have to join the Vampire Resistance to fight the King. Will Julia take the deal to gain freedom and be with Adam?

I found this book hard to put down as I read to see what would become of Julia. My heart broke for her as she endured so much mistreatment from those that were supposed to love her. Finding herself married at such a young age to a man who abused her as well as having a father that only cared about his own needs would have been hard to endure. The author did a good job of delving into the topics of depression and anxiety that ultimately stems from trauma and abuse. As a survivor of abuse, I found the book was a hard read at many points but a compelling one as well. I found Julia’s journey intriguing as she fought to gain her strength and independence. I cannot wait to read Book Two in the Series.

Doctor in the Outback is Book 3 in the Welcome to Bunya Junction series. In it we are introduced to Dr. Scott Caruthers, and Dr. Franceen Lewis, who is an obstetrician. Dr. Scott is kept busy running a small hospital in Waratah River while also trying to set up a foundation to help others achieve their dreams as he has done. Dr. Franceen Lewis has recently become employed at the hospital and is looking for a fresh start in the hopes that she can put her past behind her. After suffering a horrible loss and the breakdown of her marriage she wants to push forward and focus on her career. Both Scott and Franceen find themselves attracted to one another but neither want to admit the attraction. Scott has no time for a relationship and Franceen is nowhere near ready to jump into another relationship. Yet the more time they spend working together the stronger the attraction becomes.

This was a very sweet read with some wonderful characters. Scott and Franceen shared a lot of similarities when it came to their views on relationships. Both felt they were too busy and only wanted to focus on their individual careers. Both were afraid to fall for the other for fear of rejection or the relationship failing. The story flowed well, and it was interesting to see how it would unfold and what would become of Scott and Franceen. Would they allow themselves to feel true happiness or fight it for fear of failure? You will have to read the book to find out. Loved this book!

(Un)loved is Book One of 2 in the Mixed Emotions Series. In it we are introduced to Gil, an actor, and Sophie, an actress. They have worked on many movies sets together and spent time off-set together as friends, but their relationship has always been platonic. When they discover they have a mutual attraction to one another they decide to take their relationship to the next level.

When Gil invites Sophie to go to France with him to meet his parents she is thrilled. However, when she gets to the French countryside, she quickly must learn how to go from city girl to country girl as she is thrown into helping on the family farm. Sophie finds herself introduced to a cranky llama, sexually liberated parents, and goats that put the run on her. As if that isn’t enough, she doesn’t know where she stands in her relationship with Gil. She’s madly in love with him but he’s afraid of commitment. Then along comes Gil’s drop dead gorgeous ex-girlfriend which complicates things even farther. Will Gil ever be able to show Sophie his true feelings?

I loved the author’s writing style and often found myself chuckling out loud at some of the things Sophie said. Despite being a city girl and an actress Sophie is not stuck up. She is down to earth, funny, and genuine. She truly loves those around her. Gil is a nice guy but who has been burned by bad relationships in the past. Throughout the book I found myself hoping that Sophie would be the girl with the key to unlock Gil’s heart.

Leon Falcon is a man of great stature and wealth. Usually, a man of his standing would court a woman and tried to make her his but from the moment he saw Penny he knew that he wanted her. It is 1864 South Carolina and Penny is a slave so she can’t say no to him or any white man for that matter. Leon decides he’s going to buy her from her previous master because as luck would have it, he owes him money and cannot pay it back. The only thing that he has that is worth anything is his beautiful slave named Penny. Leon Falcon chooses to collect on the debt owed to him and takes Penny as his own slave.

Leon and Penny find themselves attracted to one another. The attraction that first drew Penny and Leon together becomes so much more. It doesn’t take long for Penny and Leon to realize that there is an immense force between the two of them that is stronger than either of them. They both fall head over heels in love with each other. But what will become of their relationship? It’s 1864 South Carolina and a white man can’t marry a slave. Will they ever truly be able to be together?

I loved the character of Penny because she was so down to earth, honest, and pure of heart. There was something about her that everybody just liked. Leon Falcon came across as just another rich slave master at first who was used to getting his own way. However, once you start reading more into the book you realize that there is more to Leon Falcon then you would initially think. No matter what the world threw at them, or the times being what they were, Leon and Penny found a way to be together. The bond between them could not be broken.

Be warned that this book is not for the faint of heart. There’s many explicit sex scenes throughout the book including one scene where Leon takes Penny’s virginity in a crass and cruel manner. I enjoyed most of the book and the overall love story between Leon and Penny but found this scene to be disturbing and it really put me off. If Leon truly cared for Penny, he would not have done this to her. Especially not when he had a reputation for treating his slaves well. Overall, I enjoyed the historical aspect of the book and the love story that unfolded between Penny and Leon.

For the last 20 years Cate has been running from the secret that she has tried to leave in her past. A secret so dark that she was hoping would never be revealed. But when the case gets reopened of the man that she murdered all those years ago she is concerned that she is going to lose everything. She figures the only way to get herself out of it is to once and all own up to what she did and to tell the truth.

Patti has also been harboring a secret for the past 20 years. She was there with Cate the night that the man was murdered, and she has been running from it ever since. She got married and had kids of her own and moved hundreds of miles away. She left everything and everyone behind, not just the secrets but friendships and family. But now with the case reopened she must go back and help Cate.

Cate and Patti have been running for 20 years but now must decide if it is time to stop running. Once the case has been reopened new evidence surfaces, old wounds are opened, memories are dredged up, and secrets are revealed. Cate and Patti’s friendship is put to the test as the secrets they harbor starts to drive a wedge between them.

As always, the author did an amazing job with the story. I admired the strength and resilience of both Cate and Patti and the unbreakable bond between them. I loved the friendship they had that stood the test of time regardless of the years and hundreds of miles between them. When push came to shove, they were always there for each other. I read the book from cover to cover and was unable to put it down because I needed to know what would become of Cate and Patti. I needed to know what happened that faithful night when a man was killed. This book took so many twists and turns that just seemed to come out of nowhere and left me wanting more. It seems that Kate and Patty were not the only ones harboring secrets for the past 20 years. If you want to know more, you’ll have to read the book yourself. I highly recommend this Book!

On the way to his mom and dad’s house late one night Lockwood King decides to stop at a corner gas station. Tired and not wanting to have caffeine because it’s so late he instead chooses a gumball. He finds it odd that the gumball is black because he’s never seen one before. He tries it anyhow and wishes that he hadn’t because he can’t believe how ghastly and disgusting the thing tastes. It leaves a horrendous taste in his mouth even after he spits it out. Lockwood thinks nothing more of it until he wakes up the next day and discovers some strange things. Little does Lockwood know that this one gumball will change his entire life.

Suddenly there’s something that he realizes is a little bit different about him. His eyes are changing color. His hair is turning color. Things just get weirder and weirder as suddenly before him appears a cigar smoking octopus named Clyde. Then Lockwood himself starts growing tentacles. What on Earth is going on?! He realizes that there are outside forces at work, and it must be some sort of magic. With the help of his best friend, he starts delving into the mystery of what is happening to him.

This book was an interesting read filled with magic, laughs, wackiness and some truly bizarre things. I sat down and read it from cover to cover in one sitting. It was just such an intriguing read that I had to sit and find out what was going to happen next in this wacky world of this poor guy named Lockwood. It was an amazing, wacky, fun, and creative book by a fantastic author and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Aia wants nothing more than to learn the skills of being a Geisha girl. Her whole world involves Geishas, whether it is serving them or being around them. One day she hopes to have the beauty and the poise of a Geisha girl herself. Aia is not built like the other Geisha girls, so for now she must remain happy to remain a Geisha in-training. When one of the Geisha girls is unable to provide companionship Aia is given her chance to pursue her dream of becoming a Geisha. During the evening she meets a swordsman named Nen who terrifies yet excites her. Nen is not only intimidating in size but his black eyes strike Aia with fear. Despite his size and intimidating presence Aia finds herself attracted to this mighty swordsman.

When talks of changes come and the possibility of impending war, Japan is suddenly thrown into a revolution. During the ensuing chaos the lives of Aia and others are put in danger. Nen swoops in and saves Aia from the violence that has erupted and introduces her to a world that is beyond anything that she could have ever imagined existed. He takes her to a mythical realm and introduces her to some of its inhabitants. Aia quickly learns that Nen has been fighting his own battles for years as he keeps Japan and its citizens safe from worlds and forces, they do not know exist. Aia realizes that he is not just large in stature but that he has a large and caring heart. Can the mortal world and the mythical realm coexist? Will Japan be thrown into war? Will Nen be able to bring peace to the land?

I was mesmerized by this book and found it impossible to put down. I was drawn into the world of Japan and the lives of Aia and Nen. I enjoyed seeing the world of a Geisha through Aia’s eyes and it really got me thinking about what a Geisha must go through. Is this what it’s like for all Geisha girls? I also loved the fact that Aia was a bit more voluptuous and rounded then a typical Geisha girl would be, yet it did not stop her from pursuing her dreams. At first Nen comes across as being cold, dark, and mysterious but once you start reading you realize that there is far more to his character than meets the eye. Aia and Nen appear to be exact opposites, yet they end up being so perfectly matched for each other. Nen is a proud and strong swordsman who not only protects Aia, but the people of Japan, from dark forces that exist in a realm that they do not know exist. Aia is strong, smart, and courageous so she can hold her own and stand up for herself when it is necessary for her to do so.

Apocalypse is Book 2 of the Guardians of the Garden series. In the follow-up to book one, the Apocalypse has started and the Edenians are wrapped up in the middle of it. They find that they must now fight to save thousands of years’ worth of secrets.

The Joneses have a dastardly plan for Edenia and for Miriam. Seth’s sister Lillian is sick, and he is determined to try to save her life. In doing so he strikes a bargain with the Joneses to give them Miriam. In exchange they will let him take his sister to get the medical care that she so desperately needs.

Miriam is smitten with Seth and hopes that he feels the same about her. She falls for his charm, never suspecting that he has other plans for her and that his true intention is to give her up to the Joneses. Seth has also developed feelings for Miriam but chooses to push them down and put them to the side because he feels that the greater good is in saving his sister’s life. He doesn’t like the thought of having to exchange one life for the other, but he loves his sister Lillian dearly and will do anything to save her life. Although Seth finds Miriam to be one that he feels he can sacrifice for the life of his sister, his decision does not come easily. He is wracked with guilt afterwards and regrets his decision when he learns that the plan for Miriam is far more sinister than he was told.

As a nature lover I found Edenia and guardians protecting a secret world to be a fascinating concept. This book had a complex network of characters that all weave their way in and out of the story making it a fascinating read. All characters played a vital part as they did their best to not only save their own lives but to protect the Tree of Life from the mortals. Miriam and Seth play a very integral role in the entire story. They have a unique relationship, and both have feelings for the other. I found Miriam’s courage and strength to be quite admirable as she fought to not only survive, but to fit in. Seth is someone that you want to hate because of his plot to give Miriam up to the Joneses, but you quickly realize there is more to it and his intentions were good. You find yourself equally rooting for both him and Miriam as you read to see what will become of them, as well as Edenia.

Tess has risked everything she has to open her vintage clothing store called Divine Vintage. She has always had a love for fine clothing from past eras and chooses to put her love for vintage clothing into something that she can pursue full time as more than a hobby. With the opening of her boutique, she is introduced to Trey and his elderly aunt when they come into the store during Divine Vintage’s grand opening. Trey’s Aunt offers Tess the opportunity to attend a fashion show wearing a beautiful gown from the Edwardian era that had once belonged to one of her ancestors. During the fashion show Tess is overcome with visions of the young girl Phoebe who had last worn the gown. Tess is struck with visions of the young girl’s murder and is determined to solve the crime that occurred centuries ago. Seeing the murder through Phoebe’s eyes makes Tess realize that there was maybe more to the old stories about Phoebe’s husband who was accused of committing the murder.

Trey is a descendant of the young bride Phoebe who was murdered a century or so ago. The brutal murder of Phoebe by her new husband has tainted the family’s legacy. Trey does not necessarily believe in visions or the spirit world but with a little bit of coaching from his mother and his aunt, Trey reluctantly agrees to help young Tess. He too wants to clear up his family’s legacy. Tess and Trey start reading Phoebe’s diary in the hopes that they can find clues as to who her true murderer could possibly be. As they read through the diary, they find several people that could be suspects. With their growing time together Tess and Trey start to feel their own connection to one another but become confused by this connection. They do not know if it is because of their connection to the couple whose lives they’ve been able to see through visions, or if it’s their own feelings for each other.

I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this book. I read it from cover to cover and found it impossible to put down. I was immediately drawn in by Tess’s love of vintage clothing. I was even more drawn in by the diary entries and by Tess being able to see through the eyes of Phoebe as though she were there herself. I loved the feelings and the brief visions that Tess was able to pick up from the vintage clothing when she touched them. I was fascinated by how she was able to get a sense of who each person was that had previously worn the clothing. I love history and I’ve always loved old buildings and wondered what the story was of the people that live there. Naturally, I found the concept of Tess seeing past lives of those who had worn the clothing very intriguing. I would love to be able to do the same by touching an old building or an old piece of clothing. What a unique and special ability to have.

I’m really hoping that they author has plans to pursue the adventures of Tess and her bond to the vintage clothing. I would love to read more stories where Tess is presented with visions of the past owners of the clothing, and she is able to solve past mysteries. I think if Trey were to come along for the ride it wouldn’t be so bad either. Trey was a likable character and despite his wealth was a down-to-earth guy with a good heart and good values. Perhaps the two of them could team up and see what new adventures the spirit guides of the vintage clothing take them on. A must read for anyone who loves history, vintage clothing, and a good old-fashioned murder mystery.

The Bear at Midnight is Book 4 in the Orkneyinga Murders series. Ketil and Sigrid work together once again to solve a mystery and find a killer in Orkney. When Einar passes away there are many in line to take over as leader. Ketil and Sigrid only want the best for everyone and to have peace in the land.

Sigrid and Ketil work beautifully together and really seemed destined to be a couple although neither one of them seems to realize that. The story is told from both sides and although neither seems to lead the story you can’t help but bond with Sigrid. She possesses many admirable qualities including her strength and determination.

The author weaves together a beautiful story of the lives and characters of the Vikings and beautiful Scotland. Often you feel like you were right there with the characters because the author so vividly describes the scenes of day-to-day life with the characters.

Tomb for an Eagle is book one in the Orkneyinga Murders series. When a body is discovered in an underground tomb still clutching the knife that possibly killed him it sets into motion a chain of events that involves all the citizens of Orkney. Sigrid, who accidentally discovered the body on her property, is determined to solve the mystery of this unknown man. With the help of Ketil, she sets out to unravel the mystery of why this man was killed. Nobody from their small village has been reported missing which makes it even a bigger mystery. Where did this man come from? Who is he and how did he die there?

I loved the character of Sigrid because she was full of feistiness and determination. She doesn’t back down from a challenge. Although it was a bit challenging to keep track of all the names, I loved the historical detail that the author wrote into her book and thought it was very well written.

The Journeys Through Series hooked me right from the first book in the Series, Journeys Through Space Time. Now it is in a boxed set! This series intrigued me from the very beginning, and I found it difficult to put the books down. I quickly became wrapped up in the lives of the characters and was fascinated by the concept of multiple worlds. The multiple characters, storylines and points of view were beautifully written, and the story was immensely entertaining.

Even more intriguing to me was that the voice of a mysterious being could be heard in the minds of inhabitants across both time and space. This powerful and wise voice spoke to each inhabitant and gave each one of them advice or words of warning. The only thing linking the inhabitants of all these different worlds was the mysterious voice that each one of them heard. Those that heard the mysterious voice must now combine forces and use their knowledge and newly acquired skills to fight the forces of evil. The fate of the Multiverse is up to them.

I found it truly fascinating to explore the concept of multiple worlds and the vast Multiverse of space and time. The concept of multiple planets each with their own inhabitants had me really thinking about the possibility of life on other planets. The thought of a wise and powerful being that could get into our minds and control our thoughts intrigued me.

The story picks up more in Book Two and really intensifies in Book Three when an ancient prophecy has predicted that an intelligent and powerful being plans to use the powers contained in the Dokkaebi-of-all-Creation to destroy various universes that make up the Multiverse. Once again, our heroes must come from their different universes to save the Multiverse from being destroyed. However, each of our heroes must first come to the realization that their universe is not the only one that exists. They must train hard and prepare for this battle or risk the Multiverse disappearing forever. It becomes a confrontation between the Gods and the Mortals as they fight to save all creation. Who will win this battle?

This series gave me plenty to think about with the concept of multiple realities taking place simultaneously on multiple planets. The author has done an amazing job of creating lovable characters along with some not so lovable ones. You find yourself rooting for good to win over evil. Each Universe is described so vividly along with each character that you feel like you are right there with them. This is an amazing series that I highly recommend reading!

Road Rage is Book Four of the Outlaw Series. Gem is working in a supermarket and doing her best to live a normal life. To remain safe, she has chosen to distance herself from everyone to break free from the life she had that was full of violence and drugs when she belonged to an outlaw motorcycle club.

Things change suddenly when Gem meets a good-looking biker by the name of Shep while she is at work at the supermarket. She can’t help but feel attracted to him and is intrigued by the fact that Shep happens to belong to another outlaw motorcycle club. She finds herself drawn in by this and before long she is introduced back into the world of outlaw motorcycle clubs. When she is first introduced to Shep’s Club, Rage, the, members of the club won’t accept her, and she feels like an outsider. It is only after she proves herself through her racing that she starts to garner the attention of the other members of Rage, and she begins to feel like more of an equal. Until that point in time, she is arm candy on Shep’s arm who treats her like she is his just to boost up his ego.

As Gem becomes more heavily involved into the club, she also becomes more involved in Rage’s activities that aren’t exactly legal. She finds herself coming face-to-face with her past and the outlaw motorcycle gang that she was once a part of. Gem finds herself battling for her life and fears she may not survive what they have in store for her. It takes all her strength and determination to try to remain strong and try to find a way to save her own life.

I loved the character of Gem and found it a nice change that there was such a strong female lead. She was tough as nails and didn’t put up with anything from anyone. Of course, as you read through the book and learn of her backstory, she wasn’t given much of a choice but to be strong. Gem learned early on in her life how to stand up for herself and defend herself from those that only intended to harm her. This book can very easily be read as a stand-alone but now that I have read it, I will be going back and reading the first few books in The Outlaw series.

Since the young age of 21, Noah has been working the land that his father gifted to him on his birthday. When his father suddenly passes away Noah learns that there are conditions that come with this gift of the land. He is horrified to discover that he has mere weeks to not only find a woman but marry her or the land will be given to his brother instead. Noah is mortified and is justifiably angry at his father’s actions. He can’t believe his father has done this to him. There are no women available where he lives, so how does his father expect him to suddenly get married?

Mary is a young woman living with her father. Mary has been doing her best to make ends meet and to feed her and her father on the meager income that he is able to bring in from his pig farming. Unfortunately, the money seems to be few and far between and he has more love for his pigs than he does for his own daughter. Mary makes the best of the situation, and she stretches the meals and goes without eating so her father can eat instead. Then suddenly her father comes to her and tells her that he has planned for her to be married to a most horrific man that Mary had an unfortunate incident with in the past. A man that Mary does not want to be with and who will not treat her well. So, when Mary is approached by a member of her church and offered a chance at a proxy marriage to a man she does not know and has never met she figures this might be the best chance that she has of getting out of the horrible situation that she is currently in.

When Mary and Noah meet, they go into a marriage of convenience. Neither expects anything else out of the other. Noah only expects to keep his land. Mary only expects to make it through the marriage for the term that the contract stimulated and start over new afterwards. What neither expected was to start having feelings for the other which leads to confusion. Neither Noah nor Mary seem willing to broach the subject or talk to the other about their feelings for fear of rejection. What will become of Mary and Noah? Will they discover that they are better off without each other? Will they fall in love?

The characters of Noah and Mary were wholesome, down-to-earth, and hard-working. Mary made the best of any situation that she was put into and only wanted to make those around her happy. She was strong-willed and hard-working with a heart of gold. It was heart-wrenching to know how poorly Mary had been treated by her father and how much she had missed out on in life. Noah wanted to do everything he could to give Mary a better life. He was a hard worker and cared deeply about his family and those he loved. This book was a wholesome read full of love, and the support of family. It was full of wholesome scenes, strong morals, and wonderful characters.

Face the Fire is the 5th and final book in the Moore Family Saga series of books. This book continues with the story of Miles Moore who is driven to become successful with his own music empire. He is determined to let nothing, and nobody stand in his way for him to become mega successful. Bella, who is both his wife, as well as the Chief Marketing Officer of his company wants to help her husband succeed and realize his goals but finds that it is not always easy. Bella also wants to be successful with both business and family and struggles with the challenges of motherhood as well as being a successful career woman. She also faces constant struggles with juggling her relationship with Miles as both his wife and his business partner. Tensions rise when Bella is caught in an ongoing battle between Miles and one of proteges who is struggling with the demands that Miles is imposing on him as an artist. After being on the inside and discovering the lengths that other artists will go to within the music industry, Bella is fearful of what will result of a feud between Miles and his competitors. Once again, Miles and Bella’s love for one another and their relationship is put to the test. Will they have what it takes as a couple to remain strong in love and successful in business at the same time?

I thoroughly enjoyed this entire series of the Moore family saga. Each book builds up from the previous one, we learn more about the characters, and follow them through several tense moments. In Book 5 the plot thickens and the danger level intensifies. Bella and Miles are caught in a volatile and explosive situation that could mean the end for them in more ways than one. Although each book could be read as a standalone it is much better as a series read in sequential order and starting with Book 1. I highly recommend this series and this author!

A Moore Affair is book four in the Moore Family Sega series of books. Bella and Miles are together at last and are getting ready to get married. Bella feels ecstatic to be marrying the man that she loves beyond everything but at the same time can’t help but wonder if she’s ready to be the wife of someone so famous. Along with Miles’ fame comes not only the whirlwind tours but a fan base that that can be downright frightening at times. However, Bella chooses to put all her fear and doubts aside and makes the best of it because she is surrounded by her family.

After their wedding, Miles and Bella decide to honeymoon in Paris and Italy. Bella soon learns that Miles and his stage persona of Ari are two very different people all wrapped up in one little package which naturally makes her uneasy. Bella becomes doubtful and fearful of those that could break them apart and constantly worries that she is not enough for Miles. When Bella unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she tries to forget all her doubts and insecurities and chooses instead to focus on the joy of becoming a mother. Then suddenly life throws them another curveball and their life is thrown into a tailspin once again.

Bella’s beloved home that she grew up in as a child is destroyed by fire setting off a chain of events. When secrets start to unfold and come to the surface Bella and Miles must decide if they can trust one another with their pasts or if it will put their future in jeopardy. Of course, the relationship between Miles and Bella can never come easy as there’s always someone or something on the outside that is trying to tear them apart. Bella knows that she loves Miles with all her heart but she’s not sure if she can overcome her doubts, fears, and insecurities. Will she be able to overcome the secrets that she unfolds and move forward with her relationship with Miles?

Book four answers more of the questions from the first few books and builds on the story of Miles and Bella. The characters of Bella and Miles were real, raw, and believable. They went through trials and tribulations that put their relationship to the test and as in any relationship they had to decide if they could survive the tests and be strong enough as a couple to endure it and come out stronger on the other side. The book did not disappoint as the Moore Family Sega unfolded. Although this book could possibly be read as a standalone, I highly recommend starting with book 1 and working your way through the series. Each book starts off where the last one left off and unfolds more of the Moore Family Saga. Enjoyable read, I highly recommend!

The Fire God Tour is Book 3 in the Moore Family Saga Series of books. In this book Miles Moore is grown up and is now a famous performer known as Hip Hop Artist Ari. Miles has learned more about his affliction and is obsessed with the use of fire. He uses his ability to play with fire and implement it every chance he gets during his concerts. His whole life Miles has had to learn about the death threats against him due to his affliction but now there are also death threats against him due to his fame and fortune. On the plus side he’s making a lot of money, he can have any woman he wants, and he can travel wherever he wants. Life is good and the whole world is his oyster.

When Bella joins Miles team as the Chief of Marketing she is everything that he despises in a woman. She is too professional and uptight for his liking, so he mocks her every chance he gets and refers to her as the Ice Queen. Bella only wants to maintain a professional relationship with Miles but can’t help but find herself attracted to him, an attraction that she tries to deny. Miles also wants to keep things on a professional basis and knows that there could never be a relationship between them, yet for some unknown reason he finds himself attracted to Bella. Although Miles can have any woman, he wants due to his fame as an artist he finds something about Bella that is irresistible and can’t stop thinking about her. Bella finds herself thinking about Miles as well, but she knows what a womanizer he is and has no intention of following through with her attraction to him.

As the Chief of Marketing for Miles’ company Bella does not like Miles using fire during his concerts. Bella is unaware of Miles’ affliction and his ability to create fire so can’t understand his morbid obsession with the use of fire during his concerts and tours and attempts to get him to stop using it. This is not just due to the potential risks involved around the use of fire but because on a personal level Bella has a deep-seated fear of fire stemming back to her childhood. This is something where Miles and Bella disagree, and it instantly puts a wedge between them seemingly ruining any chance of them ever following through with their mutual attraction or having a relationship.

I loved this book as much, or even more so, than the first two books in the series. Both the characters and the storyline were very believable, with possibly the exception of the ability to create fire out of thin air. However, it was nice to become absorbed in Miles and his world of fire and his life as a famous Hip Hop Artist. I loved learning more about Miles and getting to know more of him as a character; one that showed different sides of his personality based on whether he was the Hip Hop Artist Ari, or whether he was Miles. Going through the ups and downs of having fame and fortune while also trying to maintain a private life is something that I’m sure every famous person has had to deal with. The author does a great job of showing the readers the struggle between a public image and a private life that most famous musicians must struggle with. This was another great read! Now onto Book 4!

Playing With Fire is Book Two in the Moore Family Saga Series of books. This book seamlessly picks up where book one left off. Cade’s success as a musician is taking off when he’s been offered a chance to go on tour in Paris, France. Alicia and his young son Miles come along with them until Alicia becomes tired of the touring and wants to return with their young son back to the United States. Alicia knew that when she married Cade that things would sometimes become difficult because of him being a musician. But what she never anticipated was how alone that she would feel even though she is married. She knows that Cade loves her with all his heart, but she misses her family back home and wants her young son to get to know her side of the family. Cade is upset and misses his wife and young son terribly. However, he is also enjoying his fame and his rise to stardom, which causes Cade to become conflicted between his family and his growing success as a musician.

Shortly after Alicia returns home with her young son Miles, he falls very ill. She must call Cade and get him to come home as she breaks the news to him that their young son is gravely ill. To make matters worse Alicia must deal with a woman who was once her friend but has now become her enemy. Will Cade and Alicia be able to get to the bottom of what strange ailment is afflicting their young son? Will they be able to remain strong as a couple while also enduring the ups and downs and hardships of parenting?

This is a great series and I highly recommend that you start with book one, Seed on Fire, and work your way through the series because each book introduces you to more of the storyline. Each book progresses where the last one left off and answers some questions from the previous book. In Book Two we are introduced to more of the family and their roles that play a vital part in the Moore Family Saga. We learn a lot about both Kaiden and Alicia and their respective upbringings when we are introduced to their families. Things become intense with Kaiden, and Alicia’s relationship and it threatens to disintegrate when they are hit with some bumps in the road. They are forced to decide if they should weather the storm together or call it quits.

Seed on Fire is Book One in the Moore Family Saga series of books. We are introduced to Kaiden, a musician, and Alicia Moore, a young couple that fall head over heels in love and soon become married after a whirlwind romance. Alicia unexpectedly becomes pregnant on their honeymoon, something which threatens to tear Cade and Alicia apart. Kaiden, or Cade as his friends call him, and Alicia, or Lecia as her close friends call her, find their relationship put to the test with this revelation.

Cade never expected to settle down but that all changed when he met Lecia. He is now struggling with the sudden life changes and his impending fatherhood. Lecia finds herself overjoyed and cannot wait to become a mother but is struggling with the loss of her career because of her impending motherhood. These life changes cause a rift between Cade and Lecia but soon a series of horrific events not only threatens to break them apart but also puts the life of their unborn child in danger. Will their love be strong enough to endure the threats and hardships put before them?

This book was full of action, adventure, romance, danger and ultimately the family ties that bind. The author does a great job of tackling the difficult topics of the sacrifices and the often-difficult concept of forgiveness that most couples are faced with throughout their relationship. The characters of Kaiden and Alicia were described so well so you could not help but feel that you knew them. I loved the relationship that they had and the lengths that they would go to remain together. No matter what they went through and who tried to tear them apart their love for each other was undeniable and unbreakable. From the very first few pages I was hooked, and I needed to learn more about this couple and what was going to become of them and their relationship and ultimately what would become of their unborn child. I was hooked and not only quickly devoured Book One but immediately moved onto Book Two in the series, Playing With Fire, followed up by the next few books in the series. I highly recommend the Moore Family Saga series of books.

This book is chock full of information for authors on how to sell at geek and nerd cons. The author shares her wisdom on everything she knows about how to sell your book successfully. Her knowledge stems from years of experience selling at cons and she includes personal stories of learning experiences from selling her books over the years. It includes tips on how to set up your table, how much inventory to bring, and how to pitch your book to potential buyers. It even includes pictures!

I loved how this book was laid out and found it very easy to read. It was informative and packed full of information. The author clearly knows her stuff and has gained her knowledge from her own personal experience. I highly recommend this book to anybody who is considering selling their books at geek and nerd cons.

Magic has resurfaced and with the help of the witches Tasha is now realizing the full potential of her powers. Tasha and Levi are also slowly unraveling the mysteries of the past of both of their species. As the truth begins to come to light and secrets are revealed an ancient power returns that puts Tasha and Levi’s bond to the test. They are forced to fight the evil that’s trying to keep them apart and must determine if their love for each other can overcome all despite the numerous enemies that continuously try to come between them.

I instantly fell in love with the characters of Tasha and Levi in the first two books in the Shadow Chronicles Series and admired the unbreakable bond that they had between them. No matter who or what tried to come between them Tasha and Levi’s love for one another remained steadfast and unwavering. After reading books 1 and 2, I anxiously anticipated the third book because I was eager to see how Tasha and Levi’s story would end. I was not disappointed as book 3 answered many of the questions from the first two books in the series. This book was engaging, sexy, action-packed, and full of danger and excitement. I loved the series and can’t wait to read more from this author! I highly recommend both this book and this author!

Katrina is convinced that Gabe is intent on ruining things for her when people start deleting the app and she starts losing business. Katrina sets out to destroy Gabe because the City of New Orleans is not big enough for them both.

What Katrina is unaware of is that Gabe has made a deal with Satan which involves having Katrina fall in love with him. This will be an impossible task because Katrina doesn’t believe in love and Succubus’s are incapable of love. Unbeknownst to each other, Katrina, and Gabe each find themselves attracted to the other. Determined to not let their attraction affect their judgement they both set out to make life difficult for the other person. Will Katrina have met her match in Gabe?

This was the first book I have read by this author, and she has gained a new reader. Although this book could be read as a standalone, I am thinking that I should have read her other books in the series first. I found the characters of Gabe and Katrina very interesting and thoroughly enjoyed the witty banter between them. The book was easy to read and hard to put down. This book was funny, sexy, and engaging. I highly recommend this book to anyone that’s looking for a paranormal romantic comedy.

Lizbeth Gordon is a school counselor who seems to be able to resolve conflict in the lives of others but is unable to do so in her own life. After she unexpectedly loses her husband, she feels alone and is in need for time to herself. Lizbeth decides to return to South Carolina to stay at her family’s cottage on the beach. While there visiting with her family her aunt tells Lizbeth stories of family ancestors who disappeared during the Civil War Reconstruction. This leads Lizbeth to research her family roots to find out what happened to her family and where they may have ended up. In her quest to solve the mystery surrounding the mysterious disappearance of her ancestors Lizbeth hits a brick wall and is unable to find any farther information about this part of her family. Lizbeth becomes frustrated and feels as though she needs to give up, so she accepts a job that she is offered in Rio de Janeiro.

It is in Rio de Janeiro where she meets someone with the same surname as the ancestor that she was researching. This person has old paperwork and an old diary written by someone with the same surname. Could this person be a long lost relative of Lizbeth’s? Could this person be the key to unlocking the secrets of her past?

This book resonated with me because I am currently researching my family tree. This is something that I have been trying to unravel over the years and have stopped and started on numerous occasions. I, too, have stumbled onto roadblocks and dead ends in some of my research with my ancestors. I could identify with the character of Lizbeth Gordon because she was much like me. Despite hitting numerous dead ends she was determined to solve the mystery and fill in the missing pieces from her past. I had to keep reading because I was anxious to see if she would solve the mystery and what length she would go to. I think my favorite part of the entire book was the journal entries that she found that had been written over 100 years ago. I love that kind of stuff!

The Heart of a Hussar is book 1 in the Winged Warrior Series. The story centers around a young soldier named Jacek Dabrowski in 1610 Muscovy. Twenty-two-year-old Jacek has recently been promoted to Lieutenant of his cavalry, and he is hoping his new position will help him to secure the land he desires. In his journeys Jacek stumbles onto two young orphans, 15-year-old Oliwia and her young brother, and he decides to rescue them. His rescue of the two orphans sets off a chain of events that will forever change the course of Jacek’s life.

I loved this historical fiction book and became immersed in the era so completely that I felt as though I was right there with the characters. The author clearly did a lot of research about that era, and it shows in the details of her writing. The characters of both Jacek and Oliwia were wonderful and there were so many facets to who they were and their relationship with one another. I became immersed in their story and enjoyed watching them grow as characters through all the trials and tribulations that they were subjected to.

I have been researching my family tree and have managed to trace many of my ancestors back to the 1600’s so this book made me feel as though I was in that era. It helped me better understand that time and gave me a sense of what some of my ancestors’ lives may have been like and how they may have possibly lived. The historical data included in the end of the book will be a valuable tool in my farther research. Thank you so much for including it! I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in historical fiction!

Fresh out of jail, she is now living in a run-down motel room and eating ramen noodles. As much as she appreciates the second chance she is given, Grace is not at all happy that she is now forced to defend the types of criminals that she used to love sending to jail. As if that was not bad enough, Grace finds herself caught up in the dark world of drugs and addiction, the very thing that landed her in jail. One of the criminals Grace is forced to defend should be a slam dunk because, in Grace’s eyes, the teen is clearly guilty.

Grace soon makes the startling discovery that her client may be innocent, leading her to start digging for the truth. The more she digs the more Grace realizes that the dead guy was involved heavily in the criminal underworld. She is now racing against the clock to find the real killer and prove her client’s innocence.

States of Grace was fast paced and hard to put down from the first page. Grace’s character is real, raw, gritty, and believable as she struggles to remain sober while also coping with her disability. This legal thriller was full of twists and turns which lead up to a surprise ending. I won’t spoil the ending; you will have to read this book yourself to find out.

At the tender age of five years old Claire Sanchez watched in horror as her mom was brutally killed in front of her. The dark and evil presence that took her mom’s life all those years ago is disguised in the form of the evil Archbishop Anarch. Archbishop Anarch has a thirst for power and will stop at nothing to get it. He has been lurking in the shadows waiting for the right moment to end Claire’s life as viciously as he ended her mother’s life twenty years prior. Now at the same age as her mom was when her life was taken, Claire is forced to confront the demons of her past to save her own life. Now Claire is forced to battle against the dark forces of evil and religion. Will Claire be able to face the demons of her past and gain the strength she needs to battle the forces of evil? Or will evil win?

The Unholy is a book that was impossible to put down and fast paced from the first page. There are many facets of this book as the author takes the reader on an intense ride into the darkest parts of religion. This book takes us into the world of shapeshifting, magic, and the ruthless hunt for power. The characters are ones you either love or hate, as in the cases of Claire and Archbishop Anarch. Claire is easily relatable, and one can quickly get drawn to how warm, genuine, and kind she is. You can’t help but admire her strength and hope for the best for her. Archbishop Anarch, on the other hand, is someone you instantly loathe and despise with every fiber of your being. You can’t help but hope that someone puts a stop to him and his reign of terror. This book was an intense read and did not disappoint!
