The Bar Next Door (Barflies, #1)The Bar Next Door by Katia Rose
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Bar Next Door is the first book in the Barflies series by Katia Rose. This is a great contemporary romance- with a rom-com feel and an enemies to lovers aspect as well. The story is angsty, emotive, fun, sweet, and sexy. As my first book by Katia Rose, I felt it was a perfect introduction to her work- and definitely left me wanting to explore more of her books. It was so easy to immerse myself in the story, while also investing in these wonderful, slightly quirky, and complex characters- who really made this story come to life.
Monroe’s life revolves around Tavern Toulouse where she has worked ever since her student days. It’s her second home and the staff are more like family. But, business hasn’t been so great so the threat of closure is an ever present weight on her shoulders. The building next door has been sold and is being renovated into a trendy wine bar lounge- which threatens the already struggling dive bar even more.
Monroe decides to do some investigating- and this is where the story takes off. Julien and Monroe may be rivals, but the sparks fly, and things quickly heat up. Will their rivalry end in heartache and loss? Or will love win out in the end?
I loved the chemistry and connection between Julien and Monroe- it was just the right mix of tension, angst, drama, sweet, and spicy. The banter also added to my enjoyment of the story.
I am very much looking forward to the rest of this series.

Thank you, Katia Rose!

The Bar Next Door (Barflies Book 1) by Katia Rose. I flipping loved this book. It was off the charts good and soooo sexy. Its the story of Monroe who is a very independent, sexy, sassy, manager of the dive bar Taverne Toulouse a super infamous dive bar in Montreal. Monroe has many jobs including, serving up her clients pints, shots and pitchers as well as listening to them and even kicking some of them out. She loves her life and her job until she meets Julien Valois’ a sexy, Frenchman who enter her bar and the temperature rises in the room. Julien is a wine and dine maven who has an Empire already built but he’s not finished expanding. He sets his site on opening a trendy lounge right next door to the Taverne and his vision includes shutting down Taverne and expanding his winery. After he meets Monroe though his plans may change, he didn’t include falling in love with the head of the competition. Sparks fly when they are together and they are completely out of their heads when they are in the same room. Will Julien change his plans to include Monroe or will he destroy everything with his need for success? Read The Bar Next Door to find out!

The Bar Next Door (Barflies, #1)The Bar Next Door by Katia Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Bar Next Door was a great 5 star read and book one in the Barflies series.
Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. It is a great rival to lovers read.
This is Julien and Monroe’s story and I loved it.

Monroe’s bar has been struggling and she gets concerned when the place next door is bought. She has loved working there and since the owner isn’t the nicest person she gets concerned when the place next door is sold. She decides to snoop on the competition and when she meets Julien, the new owner she is immediately drawn to him.

Julien likes Monroe instantly, what will happen when he learns about Monroe’s secret? Will that change things for them?

These two were great, I had several LOL moments. Julen being a frenchman was a plus along with being sexy and super nice. Monroe was adorable and determined. Overall I really enjoyed this read. I loved the ending and can’t wait to read more from the series. 1-click and get started today.

The Bar Next Door by Katia Rose is the first book in the Barflies series. This book will completely take you over and have you hooked.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it is one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. It drew me in so easily with the amazing characters and stir NG storyline. This is one of those books that I picked up planning on reading “just a couple of chapters”, only to end up reading it all in one sitting.
This was a brilliant book that I flew through in no time. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future!

5 stars!

Beautiful story. The characters were wonderful and easy to relate to and I was so drawn into this book. I love a romance centering around enemies becoming lovers, and this book does the trick to fulfill that love. The chemistry between Monroe and Julian is out is this world, their exchanges are fun and the passion is strong. I admire Monroe for being such a strong and caring woman, strong and caring enough to make sure nothing happens to her business or her employees. I wanted to dislike Julian for trying to take away Monroe’s bar but of course ended up falling in love with him, especially with Monroe. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend giving it a read!

The Bar Next Door (Barflies Book 1) by Katia Rose is a wonderful contemporary romance that I found myself getting lost in and enjoying immensely. The unique plot and character building is done well and you can’t help but fall in love with and laugh with them. It is a simplistic story but it is in it’s simplicity that makes it all the better and the story builds nicely. I also liked the way the author gave us a tidbit at the beginning of each chapter and encompassed information on the subject of wine and beer throughout the book. All in all I really enjoyed Katia’s writing style and the story is very well written and I look forward to reading more of her work.

This rom-com was a wonderful addition to my library that left me laughing and swooning almost simultaneously. I loved how the characters jumped off the page. I felt an instant connection to Monroe and just loved everything about her. Katia Rose is a new author to me but with this romp, I cannot wait to read more from her.

As soon as I finished this book I wanted to read it again. I wasn’t ready for it to end, that’s how I know I loved a book!
As a manager in a struggling bar, Monroe is devastated to find out that the new owner of the next door property is planning to open a hip new lounge. But Monroe can’t just give up, and sets out to save the bar she loves. Once she meets Julien, the owner of next door, things get complicated, and go in a whole new direction.
I absolutely loved both of these characters, it’s a slow burn romance but definitely worth investing the time in. Julien is hot, and has a sexy accent to make it even better. Monroe is a strong, sexy female lead who you are really hoping gets her happy ending.
Neither of them planned to fall in love, and sparks fly throughout as they uncover each other’s secrets.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I can’t wait to read more.

The Bar Next Door (Barflies Book 1) by Katia Rose – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

This is my first story by this author. I thought it would be interesting read just by the summary. As the story progressed I learned that people can be truly selfish. Monroe was a tough character. She was hard for me to like. I felt her animosity throughout the whole beginning. I understood the reason but I didn’t agreed with how she went about it. I would feel some type of way as well but I wouldn’t take it out on the one wanting something better. The story flowed nice and it wasn’t overwhelming. It did take me a little longer to read just because I couldn’t find the vibe and enjoy I have with other books. I did enjoy certain parts. Like the cage and his bond with his family. The whole dog thing was super cute. The ending wasn’t as I expected so that was a plus

The Bar Next Door is the first book in the Barflies series by Katia Rose and I loved every minute of reading it. It is a RomCom book which I mean with that alone you can’t go wrong. This book was an easy read and I found myself unable to put the book down. The characters in this story were written great and you couldn’t help but love them. Monroe, she is sassy, smart and such a strong woman and then you have Julien who is a sexy Frenchman who is charming. The chemistry between these two is hot! Highly recommend this book if you want a fun read that teaches you some too.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a wonderfully delightful story. The story takes you on a ride through the life of a dive bar. We see wild decor, crazy workers and fun patrons. There are French words and French guys. It covers life and death and a Yorkie with a literary name. I enjoyed all of this and more! I struggled to put this down and was awestruck by the “Red Wine Guy”. I loved the learning and growing period each of these characters went through. They are equal parts wisdom filled and emotion filled.

This is a first time author for me. I really enjoyed the heck out of this book. The words flowed and while I had some trouble with the French words..I liked the addition of English to make me understand. The characters are warm and inviting. I look forward to more from this author. I see Dylan gets his chance next. I really feel like he deserves it and more.

The Bar Next Door (Barflies Book 1)
By Katia Rose
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the story The Bar Next Door (Barflies Book 1) by Katia Rose. It is a romantic comedy that pulled me in, and I didn’t want to put it down until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Monroe and Julien Valois. Monroe loves her job as a manager at a dive bar. She loves the customers and is trusted by her staff. She is hard-working, strong, and independent. Then a business sets to open next door that may bring an end to the bar and job she loves so much. Julien is ready to start his new business. He also believes that he can use the space next door better for his business, rather then the bar it is now. When Monroe and Julien meet there is a chemistry between them. They both don’t understand the pull that they have for one another. What will happen to the dive bar that Monroe is trying to save? The sparks fly in the room when Monroe and Julien are together. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. This story had me smiling, laughing, and wondering what was going to happen next with Monroe and Julien. I grew to care about what happened to them and wanted them to find happiness. I also enjoyed the additional characters that are introduced and interact with the main characters. One of the characters is Monroe’s bestie and a favorite of mine to read about. Don’t miss out on a story that will hook you in from the beginning. The author does an amazing job writing a story that flows smoothly and in moments touches your heart. The romance will have the temperature in the room rising. Highly recommended reading.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. I will be looking for more from her. This is an enemies to lovers story that pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me turning pages to the last. The characters are strong, connectable that made you feel part of the story. Monroe is the manager at Monroes and has a big heart and then there is Julien who is steamy with a determination to push Monroe’s out of business. The problem becomes is they never expected to meet and feel an attraction to each other which ups the steaks a little bit. What will happen when reality hits for them? They have such great chemistry together, I found myself wanting them to find their HEA. I highly recommend reading their story to find out what happens.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the book you can’t put down because once you start reading, you’re stuck in it and not mad about it. This is the type of book that could be turned into a Hallmark movie or a Lifetime movie. The infamous bar Monroe dishes out the best advice along with the best drinks. Taverne Toulouse is a strong woman who keeps the bar and the staff in check with an iron fist.
Taverne and her staff are in for a whirlwind when a new business opens up next door. Julien Valois is getting ready to take his empire to the next level as he prepares to take everything in sight including the infamous Monroe bar. That is until he meets Ms. Toulouse who gives him a run for his money.
This story is so beautifully written as we go on this ride with the characters. The battle fades away the more, the walls tumble, their hearts override their mind, and their internal flame burns deeper because the passion ignites. That is until reality sinks in as business goes back per usual but will it tear them away? But this is just the beginning. Pick up this and don’t regret it because it will be worth the read!

Sometimes you take the shot, and sometimes the shot takes you.

As the manager of Montreal’s most infamous dive bar, Monroe—and it’s just Monroe, thank you very much—is used to serving up her signature pearls of wisdom alongside an array of shots, pints, and pitchers. In fact, she thrives on it. Taverne Toulouse is a mighty ship, and she its fearless captain, trusted by patrons and bar staff alike to steer them through choppy waters.

If only she’d been given a little warning before a full-on tsunami swept in next door.

Julien Valois’ wining and dining empire is making waves. The next item on his agenda is opening a trendy lounge right next to Monroe’s beloved Taverne Toulouse—one that’s meant to run the dive bar out of business so he can buy up that property too.

His plans did not include falling for a five-foot-nothing brunette with an impressive vocabulary and an even more impressive ability to manhandle drunk frat boys twice her size.

They’re rivals in every sense of the word, but when Monroe and Julien are in a room together, the battle lines fade away. Their defences lower, their hearts get louder than their heads, and the burn between them goes down like just the right shot—intense, intoxicating, and able to sweep their priorities away with a single taste.

Until reality decides to slap up a big ‘For Sale’ sign and force them remember those priorities all too clearly.

Katia Rose is not much of a Pina Colada person, but she does like getting caught in the rain. She prefers her romance served steamy with a side of smart and is a sucker for quirky characters. A habit of jetting off to distant countries means she’s rarely in one place for very long, but she calls the frigid northland that is Canada home.
