This is book # 3 in this series and I do highly recommend reading these books in order….this is a very good series. The author really captures the time period and I feel like I am part of it. Mystery, intrigue, secrets, romance and suspense all wrapped up in to a great story.

As Ciaran is settling he is ready to move on from his past. With twins on the way and Ciaran becoming a father, dreams are starting to plaque him. Imminent threat is upon him as his dreams show that Ruadhán is going to take his twins away…..will Ciaran be able to keep his family safe or will he be to late…

This is a very good continuation of the series..looking forward to more!!

In book 3 of the series, Ciaran has many things to look forward to on his new life path he has been brought to. Ciaran and Caitlin are expecting twins and while that should bring such happy thoughts going into this new phase of life, Ciaran’s dreams of his past seems to be haunting him. Not completely certain whether these dreams are emerging from his anxieties of becoming a new parent or a warning of what’s to come, his brother Aodhan brings more insight to their past to help bring better understanding. This story is action packed and twists and turns.

I can not get enough of this series; I could not read it fast enough. Once again, this book had me from the first page, ok let’s be honesty it had me from book one. Once again, this story continues from the book before, and highly suggest starting from book one. This series will have you hooked form the beginning. It’s filled with history, crossed timelines, romance, adventure, suspense, mystery, excitement, and everything else in between. Once again, the story was so well written that I couldn’t put it down it made me feel like I was traveling with them and taking every single step with them. the adventure with Ciaran and Caitlin and the building of knowing Aodhan, Niamh make you kind of feel like your there with them. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait to read the next one to know the rest of this incredible story.

This is the first I’ve read by this author, and I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty good. There are a lot of Irish Gaelic names and vernacular, and while the author does have a cheat sheet in the back, on Kindle it’s easier to just look everything up. I do love how there are also recipes in the back, and I’m probably going to try a couple. It is a bit of a longer book, it took me a couple days to finish it. I thought it came off to a bit of a slower start, but it still pulls the reader in on the adventure.

This is book 3 in the Cross of Ciaran. I have so enjoyed this series and this book did not disappoint. The continued saga of Caitlin and Ciaran is such a compelling story. Caitlin is carrying twins from her 1500 year old husband and back in America. Aodhan and Niamh are trying to move forward as well. After the battle with Bradaigh, everyone is ready for life to get to normal. Is that even possible? When you are dealing with ancient priests from the 5th century, what is normal? Will more secrets come out?

The Cave of Rúin Ársa (The Cross of Ciaran Book 3) by Andrea Matthews. This is such a good series. I do recommend reading the previous 2 books to better understand what is going on. Ciaran is still struggling with bad dreams while he is trying to put his life back together. Especially since his wife is pregnant with twins he has to get stuff situated. Aodhan is planning his own wedding but he’s still trying to help his brother get his life back. The dreams are causing Ciaran to have major anxiety for his unborn twins and his wife. The dreams are telling him that a long dead priest, Ruadhan who had entombed him 1500 years before is now threatening to kidnap his unborn twins. His wife Caitlin is trying to tell him it is just his insecurities on becoming a new dad. When his brother finds a empty tomb they begin to really panic. Will Ciaran’s insecurities ruin his new marriage and the chance to get on with his life? The author paints such a vivid picture in these books that you truly feel like you are there. I highly recommend this wonderful series.

The Cave of Rúin Ársa is the third book in The Cross of Ciarán. I truly enjoyed reading this book just as much as the first two books. I highly recommend reading them if you haven’t already started them. One of my favorite things about this author is her ability to pull you in and make you feel as if you are right there with them and you get lost in the pages. This is a fast paced story that is packed with adventure, time travel, secrets and so much much more. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. Get ready to be taken on a adventure one that involves family and could turn deadly. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

While trying to put his past behind him and move on with his new life, his wife and unborn twins, Ciaran is plagued with dreams of the long dead priest Ruadhan stealing it all away from him. As Aodhan plans a wedding of his own, the two brothers try to decipher the meaning of these dreams that are causing Ciarans anxiety and inner turmoil. Surely there is no way that Ruadhan, the chief priest, loyal to his goddess, suffered the same fate as they did and arose to tell the tale? Until an empty tomb is found by Aodhan and the other archaeologists, and more pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Will Ciaran be able to save his family and his new life? Or will his forgotten past come to steal the present as well?
I am so happy that there will be another book in this series. I love Ciaran’s and Caitlin’s story and was so easily swept into their lives. This installment was so exciting and has plenty of suspense, mystery, with twists and turns you never see coming. I loved learning more about Aodhan and seeing that he found someone like Niamh. This series is just so captivating and heartwarming and the characters possess so much realism. I thoroughly recommend starting this series at book 1, The Cross of Ciaran, and joining Andrea Matthews as she takes you on a 1500 year adventure!!!

This is a time travel series that is not a series you can read only one book in. You need the information that comes before this book to understand what is going on. I really like this series. The details bring this novel and the characters to life for me. There is a little bit of everything. Suspense, mystical adventures, threats, romance, the paranormal, secrets, lies, drama and of course time travel!! You won’t regret reading this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ciarán Donnelly is back and he is settling into his new life with his wife and unborn twins a bit more each day and is feeling like the hold his past had on him is not as strong as it was, but now his life is in upheaval yet again when he starts having vivid dreams again. This time though, they are visions of his children being kidnapped by the long dead priest who entombed him for his past misdeeds, Ruadhán, but Ciarán knows that this can’t be true, but he is still very unnerved by them. However, the anxiety which these dreams cause Ciarán are affecting his relationship with Caitlin and she is feeling the stress as well, which is no good for her while pregnant with the twins, but Ciarán as usual bottles everything up inside until it becomes too much and he explodes with the pent up emotion and this helps their situation even less.

As Ciarán is learning to deal with his anxieties, the dreams are repeating and are now affecting his ability to both sleep and keep his emotions in check, but when he does finally speak to those around him, they put forward the valid points that it may just be he fears around being a parent coming to he fore and that because Ruadhán was devoted to his goddess, there is little chance that he could have had the same punishment as Ciarán and Aodhán, his brother and Aodhán is keen to support this theory as well. Meanwhile, tensions still rise as the twins near their due date and with everything else going on, Ciarán knows he needs to be there for Caitlin more than ever.

Meanwhile Aodhán is working with the archaeology team again and decides to go and see the tombs in the Hills of ár Sinsear for himself so that he can put Ciarán’s mind at rest about Ruadhán, however, what he finds there just makes their anxieties worse, an unoccupied tomb which has all the calling cards of use, despite being empty. While Aodhán spends more time with his almost adopted family, a surprising piece of history is unearthed and leads to another interpretation of what Ciarán’s dreams could mean and opens a whole host of new complications to an already stressful scenario. Could Ruadhán have survived the fifteen hundred years and come back to haunt the two brothers, if so, what is his plan and can Ciarán and Aodhán stop it before their loved ones are hurt? This is another whirlwind ride in this historical fiction meets modern day romance, in this time travel fantasy which keeps you enthralled as the other books while spinning a yarn you will want to speed through, yet savour at the same time.

What a great addition to the series! Plenty of suspense, mystery, hidden identities, and a bit of sensualness thrown in! With the focus on family, old and new, the stakes are higher now that Ciarán and Caitlin have children, reopening old wounds from Ciarán’s past. The power of the goddess is shown to those who know what is going on, but the group of people who know about Ciarán and Aodhán is growing and that can be dangerous. I enjoy reading about the strong bond between Ciarán and Aodhán and, just when I thought we were done with them, there will be more! I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one!

This book is the third book in the series. This is one of my series. It is unique, original and very engaging. I am a fan of all things Celtic. I usually have to have a dictionary near me to look up some of the words used but then I’m learning new things (educational 🙂 win/win). The characters are so full of personality. Not only do the accents crack you up but the fact that they are time travelers make it so unique that you can’t put the story down, you have to know what’s going to happen next. The author does such a wonderful job of researching the history and incorporating it into the story. Fresh and engaging, this story is still fantastic. The drama will keep you on the edge of your seat. What will happen? You are going to have to read to find out. I was thrilled to see there will be another coming after this. Still a favorite series. I will always recommend. Can be read as standalone or in series order.

The Cave of Ruin Arsa is the third book in the Cross of Ciaran series. This time travel series is best enjoyed in order, starting with The Cross of Ciaran, to get to know the characters and contextualise the story.
The historical setting in this book is great, and I like the use of archaeology in the modern-day setting to connect with the past. It’s also fun seeing the ancient characters navigating a modern world – this is a trope I always enjoy!
The Cave of Ruin Arsa is a captivating story, with plenty of twists to keep readers engaged. We learn more about Ciarán and Aodhán’s past as it comes back to haunt them, while they are trying to build a new life for themselves. There are themes of faith and religion, and love and loyalty that run through the story and motivate the different characters.
This book gets five stars from me! If you’ve enjoyed the Thunder On The Moor series by the same author you’ll definitely love this series! Or if you enjoy historical and time travel romance.

This book is the third in a series. While this book could be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the whole series first. There is a lot of back story that would be confusing in this book. I really enjoyed this book and all of the series. I briefly wondered if people waking up alive in the modern world might get old in this series. But it definitely did not. I loved reading more of Ciaran and Caitlin’s story as well as more about his brother Aodhan. The author kept me captivated as I learned about the high priest Ruadhan and his need to avenge his goddess. This book is worth every single minute, and I loved it!

Having read and enjoyed the previous books in this series I was looking forward to reading this one, and I was not disappointed. I would recommend reading them in order as the storyline, a historical romance with a paranormal twist does continue throughout each novel. This was another wonderfully written and heartwarming story, which had me hooked from start to finish. Ciarán Donnelly is ready to leave his past behind and concentrate on his new life, however, he is suffering from horrible dreams. These dreams seem to be telling him that the long dead priest, Ruadhán, who had entombed him fifteen hundred years before, is now threatening to kidnap his unborn twins, but is he interpreting the dreams correctly.
The dreams and his anxiety about them are putting stress on his new marriage to Caitlin, who believes the dreams come from Ciarán’s own insecurities over becoming a father. After all, the chances of Ruadhán suffering the same fate as Ciarán and having survived over fifteen centuries is very low. But when his brother Aodhán discovers an empty tomb in the Hills of ár Sinsear that appear to have been occupied, it looks like Ruadhán could have survived after all, but if so is he a risk to Ciarán‘s family. The descriptive narrative and the historical details bring both the settings and the era vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story. The characters are likeable and so well defined that after three books I now feel like they are old friends. An enjoyable and engaging read which is a real page turner and one which left me thinking about it long after I had read the last page.

Compelling and intriguing just as the other in the series were! I simply love the story and how it continues this series, loved the other books in the series, and this one was no different. The author very much knows how to captivate the reader! I always enjoy the book installments in this series!

This book installment captivated my heart and soul in more ways than one! I loved the history we got to learn this time and how it relates to our main characters. There was a lot of detail in this book and it brought on a lot of curiosities within me. There was a lot of talk of the greatest thing being at stake…family! You really saw how much Ciarán loves Caitlin and the family on the way to say. I really felt a lot of feelings with this one, and this one is for sure my favorite in the series so far!

Loved this series so much with a passion! I can never tire of the characters in this series or the story that emerges with them! Loved this book especially! Must read book and series, highly recommend!

This is book 3 in the Cross of Ciaran series. These books have kept me gripped from the very first one. The stories of the characters are unique and really make for a page turning book. The author’s ability to mix historical references in with the story just adds to the realism. Their is a great love story in this book and also a strong sense of family and that you do anything to protect your family from danger.

We are back with Ciaran and his brother Aodhán. Both are adjusting to their new lives and finding love. Ciaran is even due to become a father again just like his pervious life. Things seem to be going smoothly, until Ciaran starts to be plagued with dreams of Ruadhán. Ruadhán is the high priest that killed his first love and also entombed Ciaran. In his dreams he sees that Ruadhán is alive and searching for him.
But its only dreams right? There’s no way Ruadhán came back to life after all this time? Ciaran soothes himself with this knowledge until Aodhán finds an undiscovered tomb with no body inside.

Could Ciaran’s dreams be a warning? Is his new wife and unborn children in danger from the man who destroyed his family all those years before? Does the tomb even belong to Ruadhán or is there another threat the brothers need to be away of?

The Cave of Ruin Arsa is the third intriguing book in The Cross of Ciaran series by Andrea Matthews. This is a paranormal romance- with mystery, magic, time travel, history, adventure, danger, family, secrets/lies, adventure, dramatic developments, and plenty of suspenseful tension.
As this book follows on from the events in the previous book/s, I highly recommend reading them before diving into this one.
Ciaran was hoping that after everything that had happened to him that life might finally start to settle down and move on from the past. But fate seems to have other plans. Plagued by disturbing dreams that seem to point to a sinister force threatening everything he holds dear, Ciaran has some puzzles to work out- especially if he’s to ensure the past doesn’t destroy his future.
Intriguing and well-woven…
Happy Reading!

This is the third book in the series, and it was an excellent addition! Ciaran and Caitlin are expecting twins and Aodhan is preparing to marry Niamh. Both are moving on with their lives like they weren’t born in the fifth century, but the past doesn’t stay buried for long. Ruadhan, their chief priest, comes back to haunt their dreams and appear periodically to them. As the brothers do their best to decipher the dreams, look for an empty tomb that could be Ruadhan’s, and protect their families from a possible devout priest of the goddess, they find themselves doubting what defies reality despite their very presence doing the same. Is the chief priest out for revenge? Is he even alive? Or are they both slowly losing touch with reality?

I am enjoying reading about these fifth century priests learning the idioms of the English language, navigating the “modern” times, and balancing their previous life with the one they are living now. The characters are all written realistically in the sense that I could see them being alive and well today. I love Ireland and how the author writes about the country and the characters. That’s what keeps bringing me back to this series!

I am ecstatic! Here I was thinking this was going to be a trilogy, but imagine my excitement to discover there will, indeed, be a fourth installment in this brilliant series. This novel was likely my favorite so far, as we have gotten to know Ciaran, Aodhan, Caitlin, and really getting to know Niamh, as well as the whole Irish clan that we have come to love. The more we discover within these pages, the more we will be charmed by this authors ability to really bring their world into our hearts and flutter off the pages. The seamless introduction of new characters, the ability to connect with existing and the need to hold my breath while immersed in this literature never ceases to amaze me.

I can just picture this large 5th century Celt holding two wee babies, and the fact that Ciaran and Aodhan might be large in stature but are truly just large teddy bear kids at heart. I very much enjoyed getting to know Aodhan even more, and to be there threw the struggles and troubles that these folks go through in this installment. I very much look forward to seeing some new talents come to light, or at the very least, to grow, and to read about little Fionn and Aisling to grow. I can’t get enough, and have already recommended this series to my parents, they’re excited to read it as well. Amazing work!

I enjoyed this time travel story. This is the third book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous two books to help your enhancement of this series and author. The twists and turns you won’t see coming. A story where you could lose your family to the past. This is a story where the characters take pieces of information and put them together that can alter dreams. The growth of the plot and characters made the story easy to read and entertaining as well. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. I had to know what happened next. Ciarán Donnelly is ready to leave his past behind and concentrate on his new life, but his past may not be finished with him. His dreams have returned with a vengeance, and this time they’re telling him Ruadhán, the long-dead priest who entombed him fifteen hundred years before, is threatening to kidnap his unborn twins. Of course, his dream interpretation leaves a lot to be desired, especially when it comes to those he loves.

As if the dreams are not bad enough, his anxiety over them is causing stress on his new marriage, which is the last thing Caitlin needs in her current condition. The twins are on the way, and everyone advises him the dreams stem from his own insecurities over becoming a father. After all, Ruadhán was the chief priest, a member of the high council, loyal to his goddess unto death. What are the chances he suffered the same fate as Ciarán and survived fifteen centuries?

The theory sounds reasonable, and he’s happy to accept it, until Aodhán comes across an empty tomb in the Hills of ár Sinsear that looks as though it may have been occupied at some point. Could Ruadhán have survived after all? And if so, where is he now? To complicate the issue, Aodhán stumbles across another piece of information that could alter the possible meaning of his brother’s dreams.
