Second Chance (The Conclusion Of the Flowers in December Trilogy) by Jane Suen – Review by Sarah Oakes

Second Chance (Flowers in December #3)Second Chance by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about second chances. When Connor was dealing with his mothers death, he met Mary Ann who was the florist. But with grief, he distanced himself from her and the chance of a relationship with her. A few months later, he returns to the town with a new outlook on life. He bumps into Mary Ann again and old feelings resurface. But will she give him a second chance at love?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Connor going after what he wants but also unsure or Mary Ann standing up for herself but vulnerable underneath. Great cast of suoporting characters like the no nonsense Mrs Steele or the perceptive Alana.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the snow covered forest and sparkling trees on the car drives making the countryside peaceful and magical.
Or with the cards later on with the childlike fun and togetherness as they make the best of a bad situation. Or with the memory of her father with the colourful trees and hot chocolate and bonfires with sights and sounds and smells so vivid its as if you’re actually there.
The switch of perspectives worked well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names at the start of chapters. The memories worked well to portray the events of the past and didn’t disrupt from the narrative of the present. The only issue I would raise is that there was some repetition in places which could have been reduced. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

This is the last book to the Flowers in December series. I absolutely love this series and it’s sad to see it end. You can read this book as a stand alone but I highly recommend that you read the first two books for the whole story. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. It only took me a couple of hours to finish this beautiful story.

Mary Ann is still loving her flower shop and it’s been four months after Connor left. She is seeing a new guy that is making her happy but there is something missing. Mary Ann is in the store one day and she swears she sees Connor but he went back to the city. She is in complete shock when she finds out that it is Connor. He moved back but why. Can Mary Ann and Connor move on from the hurt or will it be too much for the both of them?

This book was sweet, and shows no matter what love can prevail.
Im not the biggest fan of back and forth from past to present but did appreciate getting to know Mary Ann. This is the perfect ending to this trilogy, and I will look for more from this author .

Second Chances is the conclusion of Jane Suen’s Flowers in December and even though some sources say you could read it as a standalone, please do us all a favour and start from the beginning! Trilogy is a trilogy and you would be missing out on all of the backstory!
We are back with Connor and Mary Ann and Connor’s mother’s cat Tom. Connor is back to stay and he has finally acknowledged that it was a grave mistake to leave Mary Ann and he is going to go out on a limb to make her part of his and Tom’s life, again … from scrambled eggs to finger licking grilled cheese … If you love second chances stories then this series is the one to go to and you will be keeping your fingers crossed for Connor and Mary Ann until the cramp!

Okay so firstly I’m an complete sucker for a second chance romance I mean who isn’t, to have the second chance to finally get true love what isn’t to love about that! This storyline took me on a mega emotional rollercoaster my devil side of me just wanted to get to skip to the end to find out if they get together (I didn’t I was good!). It was a novel i could just sit down and get completely lost in their world and get away from reality for abit which is magical and truly powerful how a brilliant written storyline can just make you forget about the world even if it’s just for a little while! I absolutely love this author and I truly can’t wait to read more from her!

Second Chance: The Conclusion of the Flowers in December Trilogy by Jane Suen ended this trilogy perfectly.

Connor has figured out that he and Tom belong in their hometown, and Mary Ann Isabella need to part of their lives when they get home. Life doesn’t always work out the way you want it, but every now and again life throws a break your way.

As much as I liked the humans in this story I really had a special place in my heart for the cats. Oh and Mrs. Steele even though she wasn’t a huge part of the story line.

If your looking for a sweet story then I suggest you read this entire series.

4 Stars!!!!

I really enjoyed this book as it is yet again another great read from this author. I could really relate to the author’s characters and found her writing to be quite refreshing. The way in which she used the character’s grief process and brought them together really made for a realistic and enjoyable read.

I can really relate to Connor and how he was adjusting in his grief for the loss of his mother as I too have lost my mom in recent times. I like how the relationship between him and Mary Ann progresses. The chemistry between the two is electrifying and their shared grief of past
losses is just the bit that makes their bond stronger. I also like that they are both cat people as again I can relate and that their cats both like one another two. I really enjoy this author’s books and I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

Second Chance is the last book in the Flowers in December Trilogy and the book I have been waiting for. I have enjoyed the whole series but this book really tied things up. This book could be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend this series in order. Conner and Mary Ann’s story was sweet and just what I needed after the holidays. Jane Suen does a great job with the short HEA stories that make you feel good reading. I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us next.

Second Chance is the Conclusion of the Flowers in December trilogy by Jane Suen. All 3 books are short and sweet. I’m glad for the wrap up and happy ending for Connor and Mary Ann. Connor has been struggling since his mother passed away, trying to find his place in the world. He was left with her house and her cat, and memories, which caused a lot of internal struggle for him. We go into this final book knowing of his crush on Mary Ann, and her struggle with her feelings. Connor thinks he ruined his chances when he went back to the city, and is debating if he should fight to win her back. This was my favorite book in the series, because I could see both characters mature and be strong. Set aside a weekend, cuddle up with a blanket and tea, and knock out the whole series.

Second Chance is the last novel in the Flowers in December Trilogy by Jane Suen. This is my second novel by this author.

Mary Ann owns a flower shop and in walks Connor who is grieving over his mother.

Four months later, Connor leaves his corporate job and returns to the small town to see Mary Ann but things have changed. Can he win her heart?

This was an emotional journey and I was pulled in. I was hoping that Mary Ann and Connor would find their happiness together.

There are others in this series but can be read as a stand-alone and I highly recommend this novel. It’s a short read but it’s a sweet romance.

Second Chance is the third and final book in Jane Suen’s Flowers in December trilogy. The previous book, Coming Home, saw Connor giving up on the city life that he’d worked so hard for in favour for a healthier, happier life for himself and his cat Tom. Mary Ann struggled to get over Connor when she thought he’d moved back to the city for good and now needs to decide whether to give him a second chance.
This is a warm book that’s easy to enjoy. At times cliché – a chance encounter in the grocery store followed by a snowstorm that forces them to spend time together – but enjoyable nonetheless. There are misunderstandings that the characters need to overcome and over the course of the book they learn to communicate with each other.
It was nice to see Alana and her mother, Mrs Rainer together and see how their relationship has continued to develop after the end of the previous book. Mrs Rainer is one of my favourite characters in this series and is a reassuring presence in the story and Connor’s life.
For me, this is a four star book. A comforting read for a winters evening. It’s definitely worth reading the trilogy in order – the books aren’t very long and it’s good to see the characters and their relationships develop over time.

After reading the other books in this trilogy I have been waiting to get my hands on the final instalment and I wasn’t disappointed at all! I absolutely love the characters and have enjoyed following their lives. I think this has to be my favourite from the set; I love Connor and everything that he has been through. He is genuinely a lovely character and I definitely wouldn’t complain if I had a Connor in my life! As with the other books this might be a short story but it’s definitely not short on the detail! I was engaged form beginning to end and I 100% recommend it! I love Ms Suen’s writing style, she always engages me and I find her books a pleasure to read.
Second Chance could be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading them in order – you won’t be disappointed! I look forward to reading more from Ms Suen again in the future!

This was such a sweet romantic second chance book. I loved how the story went back in time at points so that we could understand Mary Ann better and even Connor’s relationship with his mother. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. This was the perfect end to a wonderful trilogy. I was rooting for these two the entire time, they both deserve to find happiness. I am sad to see this series come to an end, but I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next. I highly recommend this book.

Second Chance by Jane Suen a five-star read that will bring flowers to your life. This is the third and concluding novel in the Flowers in December Trilogy, they could maybe be read as stand-alone, but I have read them as a series and so enjoyed them that way, as this is like the cake topper, its so lovely on its own, but as a whole it just brings the whole thing up. The emotions you will see in this story are so strong that they are palpable, you can almost taste the emotion. This is a compelling story and shows us what a truly amazing writer Jane Suen is.

This is the third book in the Flowers in December Trilogy. However, having not read the first two, I found this book to be easy to pick up and read and get the idea of what happened in the past. That being said, I am going to pick up the first two books and read those because I want to know what exactly occurred that brought them to this book.

In this book, Connor has returned to live in the mountain community where he grew up. There, he encounters Mary Ann again. After meeting Mary Ann months prior when she arranged the flowers for his mother’s funeral, Connor thought he had lost his chance with Mary Ann when he returned to the city for work after burying his mother. Mary Ann still feels anger when she thinks about how the way things ended with Connor after he left. She tried to get over him by going out with someone else, but she soon realized that her new relationship was not what she wanted. Seeing Connor again has stirred up those feelings of hurt and anger, along with some feelings of wanting to know where they could go but being afraid to open herself up to hurt again. A storm on the mountain provides a couple of situations for Connor and Mary Ann to talk about what happened and figure out if they have a chance of moving forward.

This was a quick read for me. The chapters moved quickly, and I found myself at the conclusion of the story before I knew it. The story felt real because it was about two people conquering the problems that occur in real relationships. Like I mentioned before, I am going to go back and read the previous books in the series because I would like more of the backstory. However, this book can be read as a standalone and provides a good story to lose yourself in.

Jane Suen’s The Flowers in December Trilogy has been some of my favorite contemporary romance novels that I have read as of late. I enjoy how she manages to hook be deep into the story before I even finish the first few pages of a book she has penned. I loved Second Chance, the third and final book in the series, the most out of all of them. This book really closed the trilogy in a perfect and beautiful way that I just could not get enough of.

I would recommend that you read the first two novels prior to this one if you haven’t. I feel this series has evolved in both writing strength and the characters themselves. I suppose if you really wanted you could read them as stand alones though. This one brings us the conclusion of Connor’s story. He is our main character and really has changed so much from the very first book we read him in. I have probably just fallen in love with his character more and I never thought that was possible after book two. I look forward to finding out what will come next from the ever talented Jane Suen.

Second Chance the last book in the Flowers in December trilogy by Jane Suen. Ms. Suen’s writing style is easy flowing and keeps you engaged throughout the story. The characters are complex. I could see myself being friends with Mary Ann. Mary Ann is the small town flower shop owner who falls in love with Connor. Connor walked out on Mary Ann and that caused hurt and misunderstanding. Will Mary Ann give Connor a second chance? Can Connor forgive himself?

Second Chance: The Conclusion of the Flowers in December Trilogy by Jane Suen is an emotional journey where my emotions were all over the place. This is a second chance romance story that I read in one sitting. The characters of Mary Ann and Connor Norton are likeable and well developed. There was some going back in time with Mary Ann’s history some helped but Jane is a master at never doing what you think should be and always leaves me a little frustrated. But having said that she always writes from the heart.

Connor’s withdrawal from the world after his mother’s death left Mary Ann wondering what was going on. When he recovers enough, he decides that he needs her but is she still there and waiting?

I look forward to what comes next from Jane.

Second Chance by Jane Suen is book three of the Flowers in December trilogy. Though this book is the final book of the trilogy, it can be read as a standalone. This book is an emotional story that pulls you in until you’ve finished it.

Mary Ann owns the local flower shop which keeps her plenty busy. She doesn’t have time for anything else. Connor is only in town for his mother’s funeral. Neither one has anything else on their minds when Connor wakes into the flower shop and thus into Mary Ann’s life. Mary Ann and Connor experience some misunderstandings and Connor realizes he never should have left. Can Connor and Mary Ann get past the hurt they’ve experienced?

This book is an emotional roller coaster but definitely a sweet romance. This was the first book I read in the trilogy but I definitely am going to read books one and two because this book was so good!

Second Chance (Flowers in December #3)Second Chance by Jane Suen

This falls into the genre of clean romance with characters that are slightly older (in their mid to late 30’s). This is a genre space that is missing good stories. Mary Ann and Connor had a solid base plot, with Mary Ann having recently bought a small business in a smaller community and Connor returning to his hometown after a life event left him re-evaluating what was important to him. Connor’s life event thrust him into Mary Ann’s life path. With all of that in mind, this book should have been something I enjoyed, unfortunately, it just fell flat. The book never developed into something where I was able to become emotionally attached to the characters. It had a lot great pieces that I wish would have been developed into a much deeper story. On the plus side this was a fairly short book that had an inspirational feel to it: staying true to yourself, listening to your inner self, appreciate those in your life and be sure to tell them. Those are things that we all should do every day.

I have loved every book I have read by Jane Suen. They are not my usual genre but for some reason I get pulled right in.
This was such a sweet book watching Mary Ann and Connor find their way back to each other. I enjoyed reading the character of Mary Ann, she is a strong yet because of a rough past with her stepdad she doesn’t trust very easily. Connor kind of irked me at some points, and I had trouble deciding if I really wanted Mary Ann to be with him again.
I love a good second chance romance, so this story was great for me, and I would highly recommend this book, and every book by Jane Suen really. This book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the others in the series.

Second Chance is the third and final instalment in the Flowers in December trilogy by Jane Suen. I really enjoyed the first two books, so I was really happy to find that the third book had arrived. It is everything I could have hoped for as the conclusion to Connor’s story. A lot has happened since we met him back in book one.
This sweet story is all about second chances- with a very realistic and believable storyline. Ms. Suen definitely saved the best till last, as this is my favourite of the three books, for sure.
Even though you could read this story as a standalone, I really recommend reading the first two books before beginning on this one- as all the backstory and other relevant information is contained in those books.
As with the other two books, Ms. Suen had me hooked quite quickly and kept me engaged the whole way through. It is a short story, which makes for a quick and easy read. For such a short story, it definitely leaves an impression.
Looking forward to what ever Ms. Suen decides to do next!

Thank you, Ms. Suen!

Now that Connor has decided to quit his job and leave the big city will he and Mary Ann be able to pick up where they left off or is to late for them to have a happy ending. I enjoyed reading about this couple and the obstacles they were faced with. What will happen when they are face to face again after so many months of silence.
