Greta Fay is standing up for what she believes in and it seems to be causing problems in her small town. There are plenty of people that would like to see her be silenced. Christopher is set to marry one of the richest women in the county, Minnie Locke. He is unhappy but reluctantly going through with it to please his father. That all goes out the window when he runs in Greta Fay. Their attraction spells trouble due to her beliefs and his engagement. You can’t help who you love though and this is no exception. This was the first book I read of.this novella series and I enjoyed it. A trigger warning for those that are easily upset by things of this nature, SA is spoken about so do read at your own risk. Otherwise it is a well written and put together short story. I do wish it were a little longer, but even still I didn’t feel like anything was missing. If you are looking to just pass the time and relax with a good read this book will get you through. I have so far enjoyed this series and had read 3 out of the 5 books and enjoyed each of them. If you choose to read this book, or any of the others, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. Happy reading!

Another enjoyable book from this author.

Following on from the previous book I have read from her we still get toug=ches from the previous characters but the main characters are Greta Fay and Christopher.

When Christopher is almost engaged to Minnie when he sees Greta Fay. Both have history within the town, And Minnie and Greta Fay are friends with a shared history that neither has confided in. Can Greta Fay and Christopher have their Happy Ever After.

Touching on themes surrounding relationships, interracial relationships, working conditions and romance. The descriptions of the times the book is set in really pulls you in and the characters are diverse

I am lucky to be able to go straight onto another of Stacy’s books.

The Forlorn Cowboy (The Studs of Clear Creek County) by Stacy-Deanne. I loved this book and I can’t wait for the next one. This can be read as a standalone as well. Its the story of Christopher who is a poor farmer in Clear Creek. He has found a solution to his wealth in Minnie a rich socialite who he an marry only problem is he’s not in love with her. He meets Greta Fay a black activist who is very adamant about the rights and wrongs of life. Christopher falls madly in love with her. He doesn’t want to hurt his father but he can’t make himself marry someone he doesn’t love. Will he do the one thing he doesn’t want to do and marry Minnie even though he doesn’t love her like she loves him or will he follow his heart. This is a short novella that is surely worth your time to read.

A BWWM historical romance. Greta Fay has fallen in love with a man at first sight but it is going to be frowned upon by everyone in their town. Christopher is supposed to be marrying Minnie but he doesn’t love her and doesn’t want to marry her just for her money, but feels obligated to do so for his father. But meeting and admiring Greta Fay for her stance or equal rights for people of color has Christopher falling in love with Greta Fay. This is a good story for a quick read.

Another enjoyable short novella in the Studs of Clear Creek County series. These can be read as standalones; you don’t miss anything if you choose not to read the first book.
I have previously said that I enjoy the fact that the author does not shy away from the racial divide and difficulties faced at the time this series is set. I find this quite refreshing as I have often come across the typical idea portrayed that the wild west was a brilliant time.
I love the writing style the author uses, its flows so well and makes the reading experience more enjoyable. The descriptions bring the scenery and mannerisms of the characters to life and I feel as though I am transported there standing alongside the characters as they navigate their surroundings and relationships.
I was a little concerned prior to reading that this book would be similar to the last and I would have difficulty separating the two, but I’m so pleased to have been wrong! The storyline does have some similarities, but the characters and their story are vastly different, and this makes the characters more alive in my eyes.
Their personalities and ‘quirks’ really shine through in the way the author is able to portray the emotions and circumstances of the characters through description alone without the need to state it outright. Greta Fay is a strong female character, and I absolutely loved her attitude and passion for the fight for the rights of the black community.
I do wish the book was longer but I’m happy to have been able experience Christopher and Greta Fay’s story unfold.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance with a western feel to it. The storyline has interracial, age gap and forbidden love themes, and cowboys! Rancher Christopher falls in love with the much younger Greta Fay, but unfortunately for him he’s already marrying socialite Minnie Locke. To complicate things further, Greta Fay is a black activist fighting for the rights of Clear Creek County’s black citizens. Christopher has to choose between his growing love for Greta Fay, and the fact that if he marries Minnie he will become a very rich man. Meanwhile, Greta Fay’s dreams of fighting for Negro equality have put her at odds against her parents and the law. However, it’s her growing attraction to Christopher that threaten everything she stands for. I felt the chemistry between Christopher and Greta Fay, and liked how their relationship developed. The descriptive narrative brings both the characters and the setting vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story.

I really enjoy this authors writing. She creates such likeable characters and I find the time period in which she sets her stories as well as the places really interesting to read about. I loved the characters Christopher and Greta, I was really rooting for them the whole way through, they had such passion and chemistry between them. The books in this series are only short novellas but they certainly don’t lack anything. With easy to follow storylines and fast flowing writing they really are a pleasure to read although I admit I would happily read a full length novel about The Studs of Clear Creek County!!
Another fabulous read from this author and I am definitely looking forward to more from her in the future!

This one might be my favorite of the Clear Creek County series. I love Greta Fay’s character, she is a strong black woman, fighting for not only her family and their future but the future of other black men, women and children. I love her fight, and that Christopher and Minnie are some of the people who support her. My heart clenched when Greta Fay is at the engagement party and everything started to fall apart right in front of her eyes, but Christopher redeemed himself in my eyes. I can’t be anything but happy that her best friend Minnie stuck by her, and stood up for her no matter what. Beautiful historical romance.

This is another romance from The Studs Of Clear Creek County series. This a short story but it is packed with some much action, angst, Romance that you can’t stop turning the pages. This is a BWWM interacial romance which is set in a time when interacial relationships weren’t accepted or approved of.

Christopher is a rancher. His father wants him to follow the plan and marry the richest woman in town to secure their future. However Christopher doesn’t want to lie and con his way into a marriage like that he wants to marry for love and when he meets Greta Fey he realises he has found the one.

Greta Fey is a determined young woman who won’t stop until she gets a equal lifestyle for her people. This had lead her to gather some enemy’s among the white people. She doesn’t have plans for falling in love. Especially not with a white man.

However you can’t help who you fall for and even though Christopher and Greta Fey have to face some battles to be together they are determined that they will win and their love will survive.

This is a short read which I read in one sitting. The characters are really well written and the story was captivating

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Christopher is a cowboy in Clear Creek County who has been presented with an opportunity to climb the ranks of the social ladder. All he has to do is marry Minnie, a young woman who comes from the social elite. The problem is that Christopher does not love Minnie and is only engaged to her because his father wants them to wed so his financial struggles will end.

A chance encounter with a headstrong black activist named Greta Fay changes everything for Christopher. He finds that he is madly in love with her but is conflicted because he is still engaged to Minnie. Christopher does not want to hurt or betray his father, but he cannot bring himself to love Minnie in the same way that she loves him. Now Christopher is faced with a choice between marrying into the social elite or being with his true love.

A quick read with great characters and a wonderful storyline. Although Minnie is part of the social elite, she is down-to-earth and kind which makes Christopher’s decision a difficult one to make. Christopher loves his dad and feels bad that he has worked so hard all his life and made sacrifices for him. So, when his dad wants him to marry Minnie, Christopher considers doing it because it will help his dad. Greta Fay is feisty, headstrong, and believes in standing up for others regardless of the risks. When Greta Fay and Christopher fall in love they risk losing more than family. A great story, albeit a bit brief, about love triangles, passion, cowboys, damaged heroines, and an interracial relationship.

4 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I really enjoyed this story and I loved the characters that the author created with a headstrong female lead that stands up for what is right, even if it may upset the rest of the town.

Christopher is pressured by his own father to marry Minnie, a woman whom comes from money. Even though Minnie does love Christopher, he does not feel the same toward her. When Christopher meets Greta Fay after helping her, he falls for Greta Fay.

Greta Fay is an activist, trying to fight what is right in Clear Creek County, that everyone is created equal. Her fight also upsets some townfolk and make threats for her to stop. When Greta Fay is attacked physically, Christopher saves Greta Fay…and there was something there between Christopher and Greta Fay.

I really enjoyed this story of love, drama and a few twists. I love Christopher’s support toward Greta Fay and he love how strong she is and I also loved Minnie’s character as well, even though Christopher did not have the same feelings toward her and she is also Minnie’s best friend, she never wavered and was so respectful and loving.

Very enjoyable story.

Christopher is part of the socialite elite when he is in the running to marry Minnie but in his heart he is not in love with her, force to pursue this craziness he is backed into a corner, until one night he comes across her being bullied in a field, but can he follow what is in his heart or will he be forced to pursue what his father believes he should have.

Greta Fay is an activist fighting for the rights of the people within her town, once the laws were abolished regarding black slaves she has taken upon herself to fight, which has not been easy. When she is attacked in a field and Christopher comes to her rescue she is besotted with the rancher and falls for him. Christopher then finds himself drawn to this woman and can’t help but falling in love and to hell with his father.

I loved this story, the chemistry between the two main characters is a heart warming story which weaves through the history books and opens up the narrative of true love. I loved how strong and sassy Greta Fay was but also had the secret and vulnerability deep down that she could lean on Christopher in the difficult times.

I loved the secondary characters and Minnie was a brilliant strong minded woman who herself have had a secret she hid and was willing to let loose to her family which would have rocked the foundations. It was great to see the story from the rich and poor sides and that somethings maybe different but some struggles are just the same.

I can’t wait to see if this series continues and which story is present to us next.

This author does such a fantastic job of trying to keep things historically accurate. I lover her stories because, like this one, she pushes the limits, with interracial romance, age gap, and other taboo. I found the story quite interesting. I’m always pulled into her stories right form the start and this one is no exception. It starts right off with the action. I am a fan of the women being strong and confident. That is a nice thing to see in stories. This was just a bit better than the first book. I am enjoying this series. I can’t wait for the next one.

The Forlorn Cowboy
By: Stacy Deanne

I truly enjoyed every second of this book. It took a sensitive historical topic and handled it wonderfully. I loved the characters so very much. Minnie Locke is a member of one of the members of one of the wealthiest families of Clear Creek. She is also very progressive as is evidenced by her best friend (and her support of her best friend). Her best friend is Greta Fay. Greta Fay is absolutely unafraid to fight for equality. Christopher is a farmer who is living in poverty. He has met Minnie and Minnie has fallen in love with him. They are engaged to be married, despite the fact that Minnie parents are completely against it. Minnie loves him and doesn’t care about how much money he has in comparison to hers. One day, Christopher meets Greta Fay and falls in love but gives her an alias – Cal. Will Minnie and Greta Fay find out they are in love with the same man? Who will get Christopher in the end? Will Greta Fay continue to stand up for what she believes in?
There were so many twists in this book that I found it hard to put down. I definitely loved it and completely recommend it!

This is an author that I have been reading for quite awhile and books that keep getting better with everyone. I never hesitate to pick up this author’s books. They are full of romance that makes her stories hard to put down. This book is no different. This is a well written story about choosing between what your heart desires or becoming rich. You don’t want to miss what happens and what choice is made. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world from the start. They kept me engaged throughout the story. They are well developed and have great chemistry. This is an easy story to read as well as entertaining. A fast paced, hard to put down story that I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is a historical western, something I don’t normally read. But this story caught my interest. I am happy I took the time to read this one. Christopher and Greta are both in love. Yet they don’t want anybody to know. They fight their feelings for as long as they can. Being in a interracial romance was looked poorly upon. Then add the age gap and the times well it’s a struggle for all. This author has written a story of two unlikely people coming together and fighting all odds. Both the main characters are protective as well as heroes in my book. The story is quick yet complete as well as a great addition to this series. I look forward to starting this series from the beginning to see where the author takes us. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Forlorn Cowboy is another book in The Studs of Clear Creek County Series which is a BWWM interracial romance as well as an historical western. The books in this series are set in the small town of Clear Creek County where sexy cowboys reside and fall in love. All the books are short easy reads but as I have said before I wished that they were longer with more growth they could be great reads.
This is Christopher and Greta Fay’s story. He’s down on his luck and broke. His life was heading in one direction that could solve all his problems but that all changes when a sassy, yet troubled beauty comes into the picture and shakes things up.
Greta Fay, is a sassy little thing and fights for what she believes in. But can she keep herself safe from the one person who could destroy all she wants and the law?
As the blurb says this story has many tropes with an interracial romance, age-gap, western, cowboy, unforbidden love, tortured hero, protective hero, damaged heroine, love triangle, soul mates.
It is full of tension, angst and drama, some suspense and romance not to mention cowboys.

“Are you just gonna stand there watching me, sir?” she asked. “Or are you gonna be a gentleman and introduce yourself?”
He cleared his throat. “Uh, you see me?”
“Yep.” She wiggled her feet in her black leather boots. “You got a name or not?”
Christopher stepped out, feeling himself blush all over. “My name is C…” For some reason, he didn’t wanna give her his real name. Perhaps it was fear of how he’d be looked at conversing with a colored girl in this fashion, but he decided on giving a fake name instead. “My name’s Cal Ray.”
She turned her swanlike neck, and he almost fell to his knees, just looking into her sensual eyes.
He recognized her immediately.
“You’re Greta Fay Wills.” He swaggered toward her, playing with a leaf. “The Negro activist.”
“You mean public enemy number one in Clear Creek County?” She turned up her cute little pouty lips. “You wanna run now?”
“Heck, naw.” He plopped down in the grass so fast he bruised his backside. “Why would I?”
“Because I’m trouble.” Two long ringlet curls bounced on both sides of her face. “The town’s higher-ups are trying to put the squeeze on me to shut me up. But they can’t stop me. I’m the Harriett Tubman of Clear Creek County.”
Christopher snickered, sitting with his knees up. He couldn’t ignore how she smelled like raisin bread pudding, and he loved raisin bread pudding.

“Will a broke lovesick cowboy choose a life of everlasting bliss with the woman he loves or a life of endless prosperity with the woman he doesn’t?”

The Forlorn Cowboy is the second book in The Studs of Clear Creek County Series by Stacy-Deanne. This is a BWWM (interracial) historical western romance with an age gap, cowboys, forbidden romance, a tormented hero and a damaged heroine, chemistry, angst, drama, emotion, choices, challenges, opposites attract, small town, and finding love unexpectedly.
Another very short story from Stacy-Deanne, which made this novella a very quick and easy read. I would have liked to have read a longer version of this, as I think it would have been even better with more detail, depth, and development- which would have allowed me to really immerse myself into the story and connect with the characters more. I do like Stacy- Deanne’s storytelling and am curious to see what the rest of the series holds.
The Studs of Clear Creek County Series contains:
-The White Knight Cowboy (Book #1)
-The Forlorn Cowboy (Book #2)
-The Lavish Cowboy (Book #3)
-The Lovelorn Cowboy (Book #4)
Happy reading!
