  1. The Viper’s Bloodline: Awakened is the 5th book of the series, and having only read this one, I feel as if I can’t truly do the series justice. However, I will say that this was a very fun read. And though the beginning felt slow, to me, I feel this was mostly due to my not having read the first 4 books. If you enjoy a book full of drama and angst, I believe that this series would be a good recommendation. I’m considering going back to read the rest of the series, after which I would update my review. Really enjoyed it the dark fantasy aspect and the characters were fun to read, though I didn’t personally relate. The story would be really great for you get readers, but it was still very enjoyable.

The queen has a child that is the next in line for the throne, however, a supposed son of the deceased crown prince has come out of the shadows and laid his claim to the throne. Nothing will stop him from taking what he feels belongs to him by right. The queen will need to do everything in her power to stop him from succeeding. Who can she turn to for help? While the world building and characters were great I do have to agree with a lot of others by saying that you should definitely read the other books in this series first. It did take me a little bit to decipher exactly what was happening, who the main players were, the relationships between characters, and what everyone’s role was to the plot. Once I picked that up it was smooth sailing from there.

This is the fifth book in the urban fantasy series The Gods’ Scion. Since I started with this book I was confused a little bit especially trying to remember who was who but I quickly got it all lined out. I definitely recommend reading the first four books first as there are a lot of things that happened that are referenced in this book but nonetheless it’s a great book. It’s mythology, gods, war, and magic set in modern times. It’s got a lot of action, drama, secrets, betrayal, revenge and loving relationships. I liked most of the characters and their journeys. I liked the world Winnifred Tataw created and ‘m definitely going back and reading the other books.

The Vipers Bloodline by Winnifred Tataw is book five of The God’s Scion Series. I want to start by saying that I was not aware this was the fifth book when I picked it up, so I would definitely recommend reading in order, or you’re gonna be just as confused as I was! However, despite the confusion, this was a very good fantasy read that definitely captured and held my attention! There’s twists and betrayals everywhere you look, with plenty of drama and lots of conflict! I look forward to going back and reading through the first four. This being my introduction to the author, I was thoroughly invested!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the electrifying fifth installment of The Gods’ Scion series, and the author delivers a masterful tapestry of tension and intrigue that gripped me from the very first page. I have only read books 3-5 of this series which provided enough background for me to follow, but I highly recommend reading these books in order. Rodrick and Arcelia navigate a treacherous landscape of family secrets, relentless betrayal, and magical power plays. The dark family secrets add depth to the characters as well as complexities that resonate deeply throughout the narrative. Arcelia is a formidable force of her own! She is a magnificently well-developed character and one I’m not ashamed to admire. There are twists and turns as you journey through this story and some left me utterly speechless. This author’s ability to blend intricate character development with high-stakes fantasy is unmatched. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves a story where the sheer number of twists, secrets, and betrayals makes it impossible to predict what lies ahead.

The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened (The Gods’ Scion Series) by Winnifred Tataw. This is the 5th book in the series and I highly recommend reading these in order to better understand the story line and characters. At least read the 4th book before this one to really be able to enjoy this story. Its so fast paced and will keep you flipping pages late in the night. Its an urban fantasy, action story that that will take you on many different adventure that include magic, mystery, secrets, curses and of course betrayals. The story is about a Queen who can’t trust anyone and one of her children is supposed to be next in line for the Crown but of course someone shows up and says they are the rightful heir. This man claiming to be the rightful heir will stop at nothing to get the crown. The Queen is beside herself because she doesn’t know who she can trust and finds out there are few and far between. This is such a fast paced read and it will have you flipping pages late in the night. This one will stick with you for days after reading and in my opinion that is the sign of a really good book!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened is the 5th book in The Gods’ of Scion Series. I read this one as a stand alone and was a little confused at character’s connections at times so I would recommend reading the previous books before this one. I was able to follow the storyline easily enough and there is plenty of action to keep you turning the pages. The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened is full of interesting magic, drama, war, and Gods. Tensions as exposed truths threaten to break family ties. Arcelia is caught in the middle of the dilemma and unsure who to trust, while still trying to save everyone. The characters are so complex as their loyalties are tested, and morals come into play. There is so many mythological elements, well written and convincing, that I enjoyed this more than I thought. I was invested with the way the author crafted the world and characters and adds a level of immersion you don’t always find. I will be going back to read the other books and possibly changing my rating once I can relate to the characters a bit more. Overall, this was a great story and a dark fantasy adventure that I am happy I traveled.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the fifth book in the The Gods’ Scion series. These are urban fantasy adventures with so many elements such as gods, danger, deception, political, family ties and deception. As this is the fifth book in the series I do really recommend reading them in order as they follow on from each other and if you just jump straight into this story you may become confused about the characters, their connection and the story up to this point.
This is a engaging story that held my attention from beginning to end. There is so many twists and turns that I could never tell where the author was leading us, the story telling was so good that I lost track of time reading this book.
This is a story about a family trying to survive in a world where everyone is trying to take their position. Queen Riva and her family have been trying their best to support and protect their people. When a man arrives claiming to be the rightful heir to the throne Queen Riva and her family need to work together to stop this stranger taking over.

Arcelia has her own problems as secrets have been kept from her by Rodrick. The one person who she is supposed to be able to trust and depend on and she now finds out he’s been keeping things from her. Things that she needed to know. Can they work through their issues and become strong to support both of their families. And what with Arcelia do? How far will she go to protect her family and the people she cares about?
This story is full of magic, gods, lies, secrets and intrigue which means I couldn’t put it down. This author never fails to impress me with the immersive world building and story. I can’t wait to read more.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh wow, where to start. This is the fifth instalment in The Gods’ Scion series and Winnifred Tataw’s creativity at weaving intricate stories continues to awe me. While I did read the previous book, The Sisterhood of Secrets, I have not read the first three books yet. That said this book will be very confusing if you have not at least read the fourth book as I personally would have been lost if I hadn’t. The events of this book are directly related to the fourth book and are mentioned many times without detail being given to explain what happened. Once again, the author gives us multiple perspectives giving more details and building the side plots as well as the overarching story of the series.
From Faye, Arcelia’s mom, choosing her daughter over her family. Rodrick dealing with nightmares of losing Arcelia, and the warning that the demon king Ryton’s spirit lives on. To Rona wanting time with her siblings and the arrival of a new one and another surprise. This instalment will leave you on the edge of your seat trying to race through the pages and find all the answers. That twist at the end had me shocked and speechless, only to read End. I instantly fell into a book hole cold and lost with my mouth wide open in stunned shock. I cannot wait for the next book to find out what will happen next and if it’s possible for a happy ending in this series in anyway. With each new book more twists, secrets, betrayals, heartbreaks and surprises pop up leaving you guessing on what will happen next.

When the bloodline awakens no one is safe. Destinys will change.

As the fifth book, I would definitely recommend reading the other in the series before this one to ensure you get a full understanding, and therefore full enjoyment, out of it. It was great to be back in this world with characters who feel so familiar.
As with the other books, so much happens in this one. I felt like there were new twists on each page and I was fully engaged with everything going on. It is an interesting story that pulls you in with ease. I would definitely recommend this whole series to people.

I enjoyed reading this young adult fantasy story. This is a well written story about what happens when you don’t know who to trust and believe. What happens when Arcella has to go deep into the darkness to save those she cares about? Question is, will she survive? I enjoyed her character and what she brought to the story. She made the story come to life for me. She is connectable and relatable. I enjoyed watching the story’s growth throughout the story which made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story. An engaging story and series you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed reading this story. I highly recommend it and this series.

This is the fifth installment of the gods Scion series. It is recommended that you read it in order. It is about Roderick’s and Arcelia’s journey.
This book has lots of drama, fantasy, magic, and action in it. The characters are put through some intense situations dealing with their loyalty and trust. They have to figure out how to cope with having all of that tested. The characters are complex and the journey is wonderfully detailed.
Overall, I would give this book four stars. However, I recommended that it be read in order with the rest of the series as it’s very confusing if you don’t read it that way. The author does a wonderful job describing the world in such a way that you are immersed in it. I am definitely looking forward to another book.

This is the fifth book of ‘The Gods’ Scion’ series. This is not a standalone and you should read the whole series. I made that mistake and read this as a standalone and was very confused. It took me a long time to get who was who and what was going on.

After a while, I started picking up what was going on but whereas this was book 5, all of the characters were already introduced. A lot of the characters were related and their names all started with ‘R’ which made it even more hard.

The book itself was interesting. The main character is the queen who can’t trust anybody and there’s betrayal around every corner. One of the queen’s children is supposed to be next in line for the throne and everything was going well. All of a sudden, a young man shows up claiming to be the dead crowned prince’s heir, meaning he would have claim over the throne. He will stop at nothing to get it. The queen will have to try to stop him.

The book was very political with a lot going on within the family and kingdom. I’m sure if I read the rest of the series, I would have found it more enjoyable.

Full of fantasy, lore, family, betrayal and a splash of romance, there is something for everyone!

I did not know that this was the 5th book so I didn’t read the other ones, and I will say that I was a little lost about what was going on, but it didn’t take me much to figure it out, but I recommend reading them in order, which is what I will be doing next. I found this book hard to put it down and couldn’t stop reading to know what was going to happen. The characters in this book must go thou some tough journey and discussions and figure who to trust and then question almost everything that they do. Each one had a unique and well-developed personality. I really enjoyed this book and will be going back to read the rest.

“The bloodline awakens, and with it, the power to reshape destinies.”

The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened is the fifth instalment in The Gods’ Scion series by Winnifred Tataw. As this follows on from the developments in the previous four books, I highly recommend reading them before starting on this one- as there is a continuing/overarching storyline with important information which you should know in order to fully appreciate the story/instalment, and avoid feeling lost or confused in any way.
As with the other instalments in the series, this is an urban fantasy adventure with action, curses, secrets, betrayal, drama, danger, twists, emotion, sci-fi elements, gods, magic, mystery, mythology, astrology, powers, intrigue, interesting world-building, family, who to trust, doubts, conflict, mortals, agendas, high stakes, suspense, darker elements, and dynamic/complex characters.
This series gets better with each new addition, and Ms. Tataw turns up the tension here, yet again- , putting her characters, and me, through some intense developments/situations- making this instalment the best one, so far…
As I have mentioned in my reviews of the previous books, Ms. Tataw has created an intricate world with unique characters, lore, culture, and beliefs. There are magical, fantasy, and sci-fi elements, which are all woven around things we are more familiar with- which makes the story all the more believable and relatable. I also appreciated the substantial appendix/guide at the end of the book, which was full of interesting and helpful information.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Winnifred Tataw!

This book was a fabulous read. I was totally sucked in right from the beginning. Thedrama and intensity of the issues was like watching an older reality show. I felt there was a pretty good flow throughout the whole book. The characters w2ere so well done. I loved how they were developed. Each one had such unique personalities. Queen Riva was so self-absorbed yet wanted to do better. Her children were so varied. This has been a series that brings up a lot of emotions as you read it because it has a lot of parent/child disgruntlement (if that’s a word). I have enjoyed this series so very much.

“The Viper’s Bloodline Awakened” is a fast-moving tale that intricately weaves together mythology, astrology, dark magic, monsters, war, and gods. The high-stakes journey continues in the fifth book of the series, so I recommend reading them in order as the story continues in “The Gods’ Scion” series. Winnifred’s work is vividly expressive and unique, creating a world that merges modern and futuristic themes. This is an interesting fantasy sci-fi story where magical realism and urban fiction meet. It is creative and full of lies, secrets, heartache, hatred, fear, action, drama, broken dreams, promises, betrayal, greed, revenge, family, and relationships, all woven together to give us an intriguing read. I enjoyed the complex characters and their tough journey, where loyalties are tested and not knowing who to trust makes their jobs that much harder. They also have to question what is right and wrong as Winnifred sends them through their paces. One thing is sure – they will fight to protect with their dying breath. I think this is the best book in the series so far.

This book takes us back to the world of Arcelia and Rodrick, as they go through their adult life and manage their relationship with the politics of their families. I very much enjoyed this book, it was a quick read that I disappeared into after a day out on the river. With the way it ended, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was a final book in the series, but I would like to see another book pop up. Overall, a good book and a good series to try out!

The plot was a fantastic plot, and it I enjoy seeing the writer grow as the series grows. Catch you at book four!

The book seemed to drag on a little bit through the beginning and middle. It goes over a lot of politics for a good half of the book, which does tie in to the plot, but also can be a bit tedious. After the first books ending with Roderick and Arcelia, I was expecting a bit more romance, but of course nothing comes as easy as we think with books. I do enjoy the plot the author gives out, but the writing style can be a bit confusing. There’s a lot of POV jumps from character to character, and half the time I didn’t know what character was telling the story until about halfway through it. Make sure you’re reading the series in order, since the first book goes over the lore and background of the world and society set up. Over all, a book I did like, and I’m curious to see what the author does next.

This is the fourth in the Gods’ Scion series and I highly recommend reading the previous books before reading this one. By doing so, you’ll have a clearer picture on what had happened previously, the current struggle faced, and the characters involved.

Once again, I applaud the author’s world building and ability to paint a vivid picture of the scenery with words. The characters are well-constructed and have you rooting for them beginning to end and feeling their emotions alongside them.

There are more secrets and lies to be uncovered in this book and the twists leave you unsettled and asking who can be trusted.

I enjoy this series and how there are unique aspects to each, you just can’t get bored reading these books.

I hope to see more from this author soon!

This is the second book in the Gods’ Scion series. I haven’t read the first and would recommend that anyone looking at reading this one, go back to read the first book beforehand. However, I was still able to follow along and gain a base knowledge of previous events.

The author created a beautiful magical world and was able to paint vivid pictures for readers to enjoy. The writing was easy to follow and characters well-constructed. I enjoyed the brothers and experiencing their relationship under the strain of their task. It was believable and added to the danger of their experiences.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read and I was excited to move onto the next book in the series. I will be going back to read the first too.

This is the third book in the Gods’ Scion series. I would highly recommend reading the first two books before this one for a better understanding of events, the world and characters.

Once again, the world building in this series grabs my attention almost immediately. It’s strong and links together between the books beautifully. The author also does a great job in painting vivid imagery to bring it to life for the readers.

The plot is gripping, and I was intrigued. It’s unique and enjoyable full of lies and adventure for the characters to discover as the story unfolds. Another aspect which stood out to me is the emotion that the author includes. Not only is it clear what the characters are feeling, but the emotion leaks out through the pages, and you almost feel them as your own.

I have been enjoying this series and look forward to more.

The Sisterhood of Secrets (The Gods’ Scion Book 4) by Winnifred Tataw – Review by Shannen Kern

The Sisterhood of SecretsThe Sisterhood of Secrets by Winnifred Tataw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really good YA fantasy to fill my downtime with. I’ve read other books by this author and always seem to enjoy myself, so I didn’t hesitate to pick this one up. I liked the relatable characters and the detail throughout this story. I would recommend picking up the previous books in the series as they build upon each other, and you risk not fully capturing the essence of the book without them. The author expertly crafts a world that is full of secrets and seems to expand with each chapter. The flow of the story felt a little odd at times and it snapped me out of the adventure a bit, but overall, I really enjoyed myself. I plan on following this author’s work in the future!
