My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in The Hawke Family Second Generation. I loved the first book in this series. I was so excited for this book though because we get to learn more about the elusive Jude. This story had me hooked from the start. This is not just a romance, it is the story of family, friendship, and love. It is overcoming your past and the obstacles thrown in your way. The characters in this story seem to take on a life of their own.

I just love me some of these Hawke men 😍🫣🔥😉🤪

Allie and Jude share a special bond and they have since they were children and she gets him better than most people but something is up with the both of them ….

Allie takes Jude his coffee every morning and it really irks Angelina and sometimes she feels Jude monopolises Allie’s time but there’s so much she needs to learn and again I’m reminded not to assume anything in life and communication really is key 😉

Jude has a dark and very sad history and he’s a fiercely private man and some may call him aloof but once you know his story you just want to envelope him and hold on to him and never let go and he’s always held a flame for Angelina , she’s owned his heart since the first time their eyes met and nobody knows not even Angelina herself and it’s got nothing to do with the big age gap between them ….

Allie’s strange behaviour brings Jude and Angelina together to figure out what’s going on and try to help her but there’s also the looming threat of “ The Grind” so there’s alot going on and throw in the tension brewing between Angelina and Jude and you’re in for the best 420 pages ❣️📚

I love that Byron and Luca bought Jude a building where he could have a bookstore under and live above the store where he could write and study but with him not using it there’s the possibility of it being part gallery for Jack and I think the pressure is on because Jude has been dragging his feet with his dark secret 🥲

Nana stole my heart and man she’s a gem 💎 but I’ll be honest I cried buckets and what my people have been through but every storm cloud has a silver lining right !?

Something that will stay with me as it really hit my heart “ Family isn’t just blood , Al . It’s our love for each other . It’s what we’re willing to do for each other that makes us family ….”

I’ll be honest I was still left with a few unanswered questions regarding Allie and the looming threats against the Hawkes …..

Reticent Hawke: A Billionaire Reverse Age Gap Best Friend's Older Sister Forbidden Romance (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 2)Reticent Hawke: A Billionaire Reverse Age Gap Best Friend’s Older Sister Forbidden Romance by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In “Reticent Hawke” by Gwyn McNamee, readers are plunged into a world where trust is scarce and emotions are tangled in a web of conflicting loyalties. The novel delves into the complicated dynamics of the Hawke family and the struggles faced by its newest member, a young man who has learned to build walls around his heart to protect himself from a harsh world.

The story’s protagonist has endured a life on the streets, where survival has taught him to be wary of human intentions. When he finds himself taken in by the Hawke family, he maintains his reticence, steadfastly guarding his emotions. However, amidst his resolve to remain distant, an unexpected force begins to pull at his heart – Angelina, his best friend’s older sister. The attraction he feels is undeniable, a desire that transcends boundaries and social norms.

Gwyn McNamee skillfully navigates the complexities of love and loyalty in the face of adversity. The characters are well-developed, each grappling with their past traumas and personal demons. The tension between the protagonist’s yearning for Angelina and his loyalty to his friend creates a riveting conflict that propels the narrative forward.

The author’s prose captures the emotional turmoil of the characters, drawing readers into their world of longing and self-discovery. As the story unfolds, the forbidden nature of the relationship adds layers of tension, making “Reticent Hawke” a page-turner that keeps readers invested until the very end.

McNamee’s exploration of themes such as trust, forgiveness, and the power of love resonates deeply, making this contemporary romance not just about passion, but about personal growth and healing. The intricate interplay of emotions and the unfolding danger that neither protagonist sees coming add an additional layer of suspense, keeping the reader engaged throughout.

“Reticent Hawke” is a gripping addition to The Hawke Family Second Generation Series, offering a blend of angsty romance, intricate family dynamics, and the timeless struggle between the heart and the mind. Fans of forbidden love and emotionally charged narratives will find themselves captivated by this story of two souls entangled in a love that defies both expectations and the barriers they’ve erected.

Reticent Hawke: (A Second Generation Hawke Family Novel) (The Hawke Family Second Generation)Reticent Hawke: (A Second Generation Hawke Family Novel) by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love just about everything Gwyn McNamee writes and this is no exception!

This is the second book in the “The Hawke Family Second Generation” series. While it can be read as standalone, I do highly suggest not only reading the Book 1 in the Second-Generation, but also reading all of the books in the First-Generation Hawke Family. There is a ton of useful information in all of the books that make the reading experience that much better and easier to make deeper connections.

This is book includes tropes such as forbidden romance, billionaires, reverse age gap (The woman is older), Best friends’ older sister. There is a good bit of angsty, spicy romance scenes that are AMAZING! One of the main points, the author, Gwyn, is trying to get across is that blood doesn’t necessarily make you family, your heart and the love you share makes you family.

The forbidden romance is between Jude, who technically is not a Hawke, but has been best friends with Alessi since they were 10, and Alessi’s older sister Angelina (Angie). Alessi and Angelina are the children of Storm Hawke.

Jude has only ever had one obsession, one woman who stands taller than all of the rest, and it is the one person who he cannot have. He is teetering hard on whether or not he should keep ignoring his feelings for Angie, or if it is time to come clean and hopefully have a shot at his happily ever after — his family PLUS the girl.

Angie pretty much despises relationships, and always has due to losing her father at such a young age. But she cannot deny the insane pull she has to Jude – who is also forbidden, he is technically family after all.

In the midst of Angie’s sibling Alessi going missing, lying about small things, avoiding family members. Her and Jude now have to work side by side to figure out what the heck is going on. Now that they are together regularly, that pull, and connection only grows stronger. They both have had so many obstacles and more heartache than a person should deal with, but neither allow themselves to open up which causes them to be misunderstood quite a bit.

Prepare to be captivated by this series, as Gwyn never fails to deliver a compelling storyline filled with romance, danger, family, love, and angst. But what truly sets this series apart is the emotional rollercoaster it takes you on as a reader. Each book allows you to intimately know the characters, every word resonating with you long after you’ve finished reading.

I cannot wait for the 3rd book to come out!

Ruthless Hawke: A Second Chance Secret Baby Romance (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Donya Pedigo

Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation #1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t know how this series keeps getting better and better, but it does! This is the continuation story of Issac Hawke and Jack, whom we met in the prequel, “Night Hawke.” Several years after their first steamy encounter, Jack shows back up in Isaac’s life and boy does she have a surprise for him.

I’m a sucker for a great secret baby book and this one definitely doesn’t disappoint as Gwyn McNamee has filled it full of twists and turns that will keep you glued to the page. These characters are well written and have the chemistry to set a volcano ablaze! I really love this story and this series.

I want to know how I get to be a part of the Hawke family! Gwyn McNamee has written another great installment in The Hawke Family Second Generation and let me tell you these books are all so colorful and well written that I am most definitely hooked on this series and this family.

In this book we see the love story of Jude and Angie unfold. The romance was wonderful to read, but I also enjoyed seeing the friendship between Jude and Allie and how much she and the whole Hawke family meant to him. I was amazed at Jude’s story while reading this to see what all he has grown through and endured, while still becoming a great man. This book is also just another great reminder that family doesn’t have to be blood! I can’t wait for the next book to come out as I’ve read all the original Hawke series and now all this series that’s available. If you like a tight-knit family that looks out for one another mixed in with some romance and steam, then you definitely want to check out these series.

Good morning. What a way to start a book, Hehe. I am in love with this series having read the prequel and book one I had been counting down the days until this book finally came out and I had a chance to read it. Jude and Angelina were mentioned in the previous books but not in depth. Finally, we get to see inside Jude’s world and discover why he is so recluse and the heartbreak of his first ten years of life before the Hawkes rescued him.
Jude had been a Hawke for twelve years, and from the very beginning Angelina had stolen his heart. After a life of nothing but pain and fear he had finally found someone that made him feel safe, accepted, and cared for. Angelina is the eldest Hawke second generation, her coffee shop is thriving, but the problems start stacking up quickly in her world. Allie, Jude’s best friend and Angelina’s younger sister, is suddenly more unreliable than ever. Always late, missing and not showing up where she should be when she should be. Fear and worry force Jude to text Angelina and be in the same room with her for the first time in two years. She is the literal dream girl that chases away his nightmares and yet that is all she can ever be, in his dreams. Everything about him captured Angelina’s attention and like Jude it has only grown with the years. Cassius of course once again rears his handsome evil face when Falco Enterprises purchases the space the Hawkes have wanted for years. To make matters worse, they plan to open a coffee shop, just down the street from Angelina’s, Hawkes Daily Grind. Taking place roughly four months after book one, the previous idea of an art gallery/studio comes up by Isaac. What if they have a grand opening the same day or shortly before to steal the attention away from the Falco coffee shop. Only problem, the space is across from Angelina’s and is Jude’s space for his dream of owning a bookshop only it has been three years since the lot was purchased and still nothing has been opened or even shows signs of something to come.
Will Jude ever get the courage to finally tell Angelina how he feels about her? Why has Allie been disappearing? Can Jude overcome his fears and finally live the life he wants to have? Once again, the talented Gwyn McNamee has captured my heart from page one leaving me on the edge of my seat as I rush to the end to find out how it all ends. The ever-evolving world she has created, how it continues to grow revealing more information and secrets along the way. The depth of the characters and how deep their pain and trauma go. Her ability to show the vulnerability of each character and them overcoming their trauma to find the life they crave and deserve leaves you with the feel good when you reach the last page. Can’t wait for book three to see what the Hawkes will face and overcome next in Relentless Hawke, October 26th, 2023. Who captured Cassius Whitakers cold black heart?

Loooooove this book! And I’m obsessed with Isaac! He protects the people he loves and he doesn’t second guess about anything. He’s also such a tease 😈 but it’s so so spicy! 🌶 Someone very important to him left him 5 years ago but now she’s back. And with a surprise! He definitely wasn’t expecting that. Book is full of angst but I’m here for it! There’s drama and action and spice and romance and I couldn’t get enough of it. The entire story was simply AMAZING and I couldn’t stop reading..I just HAD to know what happens next. I love the Hawke family and I know you will too! Please read this!

I knew I was going to like this book because I LOVED Ruthless Hawke. And I’m only 21% into this book and it’s already fantastic. The suspense and the mystery, it keeps you on your toes. You never know what to expect and that’s what I love in a book! It keeps me flipping the pages without taking a break because I NEED to know what happens. Jude has been through A LOT growing up but the Hawke family welcomes him with open arms. He’s real closed off and on edge but Ang and Allie are there for him, as always. I love the Hawke family because even when there’s people who don’t share the same blood, they still treat them like they do ♥️ they always have each others backs and are there for one another! And the chemistry between Jude & Angelina? STEAMY. I love them so much together! I can’t wait for the next book! There’s so many answers that I need lol.

Reticent Hawke by Gwyn McNamee was a perfect addition to the Hawke family. I have loved all the characters in this series and especially love that there is now second generation stories. Being able to touch base with those from the first set of books is one of my favorite things. This family is so close and tight knit that to some, Jude and Angelina did a poor job of hiding their true feelings even if they themselves are ignoring them. As always with her books, the author drags you in with truly gut wrenching details that make you feel as if you’re part of the family. When they hurt, you hurt, when they are happy, you celebrate. I absolutely fell for Jude and his charm. And Angelina’s strength and perseverance and devotion to her work and her family is admirable. This is clearly a series I would read in order starting with generation 1 as ALL of the characters make appearances and it’s rather important if you want to keep up because there’s a lot of people and a lot of things that resurface. But overall another amazing read!

Gwyn has done it again! Just like all the other books of her’s that I have read, this one captures you in it’s grip and you don’t even care. Until the book ends and you can’t wait for more! You don’t need to read the first generation to read this one, but let me tell you that once you get into these you will want to go back and read them! They are all so, so good! So, just trust me and read them all!! LOL. And make sure you read the prequels too! So much good stuff in them all! Reticent Hawke is about Angie and Jude’s story. This one was so gripping. You get to learn more about the allusive Jude who was kind of adopted into the family. He hates being apart of the family, but that’s because he loves one of them. He sits in his window, hidden away from everyone, watching. Jude had a very horrible start to life and because of it he has locked himself away. Building up walls to keep people away from him. Allie is the exception. She is his best friend and one of the only people to see him in person in two years. When Allie starts to act weird and disappears for days he and Angie team up to find out what’s going on. Even when she comes clean she’s hiding something and they both know it. Getting to the bottom of her secrets is going to be tricky. To top it off a pesky company is gunning for Angie’s coffee shop along with the other Hawke family businesses. Will they finally find out who is behind it? Boy oh boy! I don’t want to give anything away, but you have to read this one!! Curl up with a drink, some tissues, and get ready to get sucked in!

Night Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation #0.5)Night Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a Prequel to Nolan (Isaac) and Jack’s story. I actually didn’t read this prequel first, but I wish I had. It just gives their story a little taste of what’s to come and man oh man is it good!! Isaac just finishing law school decides a night of celebrating is needed before he heads back to NOLA to help run the Hawke empire. With his whole life mapped out for him settling into the family business can wait a couple days. He just happens to have his sites on a red head that would fill those days before life and family demands him back. Jack has slipped out and gone to a dive bar no one would ever think to look for her at. She wants some much needed time away from her life and family. Playing pool and having a few drinks with Nolan is harmless. She’s looking for a fun distraction and so is he. No strings. Not giving each other their real names they set out to have a great one night stand with each other. Their one night stand turns into two and before they know it this have changed. This book is steamy! It will have you rushing to grab their story asap, so you can dive right in some more. More than one of Gwyn’s books has had me up late reading when I should have been sleeping! LOL 🙂

There are very few books that I can say I felt true anger and rage while reading, but learning about Jude’s story, i felt sorrow, pain, rage, anger, and then, I felt like him being brought into the Hawke family was giving him the comfort he needed. Like balm to a wound, but when that wound is as deep as Jude’s… No balm is enough… This story will destroy you. I cried. I yelled. I cheered. I was an emotional MESS. And it was 100% WORTH IT. I am adding a new favorite author to my list… Gwyn McNamee is an amazing writer. I have this bad habit of NOT sleeping when I’m reading her books. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to read stories that have heart and soul…. Sex, Love, Swear words… All the good things that make a story more REAL. She’s got you covered.

This is the second book in the Second Generation of Hawke series. I have loved every book in this series. These romances are more than a romance. They are stories of family, friendships, danger, past traumas and the effects they have on a person.
In this story we are with Jude and Angelina. Jude was taken into the Hawke family at the age of 10 but because if his past he constantly pushed everyone away to protect himself including the one person he really wants close Angelina.
Angelina is the oldest sister to Jude’s best friend Allie. She can sense something is troubling Jude but she has never been close enough to him to find out what.
When Allie starts to go MIA, missing work, lying about where she is and who she is with it and generally just not being herself it leads Jude and Angelina to work together to figure what is going on with her. Untied in the need to help someone they care about the more time they spend together the more they realise their attraction to each other.
Both Jude and Angelina have suffered in their lives, both have built high walls of protection around themselves but what happens when those walls start to come down.
This is a story about 2 people who have been emotionally damaged but who are trying to rebuild their lives. There is also the danger of the enemy that is still trying to wrestle control and bring down the Hawke Family that puts all of them in danger but the main focus for me was how Jude started to blossom and grow the more he allowed Angelina in.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. What is Allie playing at? Who is she with and why is it such a secret?

Reticent Hawke is the second book in The Hawke Family Second Generation Series and is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance/ Forbidden Romance older best friends sister . I have to say I’m a huge fan of not only this author but this series. Holy Cow this book shredded my heart and I was expecting to be taken on a emotional rollercoaster ride but wow. My heart ached for Jude and I found myself lost in the pages and couldn’t put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next. I’ve been waiting for Jude and Angelina’s story and I must say its my favorite yet. Each book in this already amazing series just gets better and better. I’ve read every single Hawke Family book and can’t wait for the next. I don’t want to give anything away. This is a must read book I promise you won’t be disappointed in. I do suggest having kleenex near by you will definitely need them. I’m patiently waiting for the next book.

Jack and Isaac are an amazing relationship to read about! Passion, fear, suspense, action, drama, intrigue, steam – this book has it all! After a graduation weekend, Isaac met “Jack” and they spent the most memorable weekend of both of their lives together. As the weekend meets its end, they go their separate ways, but neither will be forgotten by the other.

For Jack, it is especially memorable because it gave her the true love of her life – her daughter Viviana. While she does resemble Isaac, Jack never told him she was pregnant – not that she would have known how to contact him, as he didn’t give his name or information. However, while she never forgets him, she is fully capable of raising ViVi on her own.

Five years after their unforgettable weekend, Isaac is working hard as the protector of the family empire and takes his job very seriously. When an old family friend begs protection for his daughter and grandaughter, Isaac is introduced to Giacomino – aka “Jack” and Vivi. Once he sees his eyes set in Vivi’s face, his entire view on life changes. This is no longer a job to help a family friend, this is a job to protect the woman he was never able to forget and he refuses to let get away again, and their daughter.

I love the world building, the emotions are intense and passionate, it was a wild ride and the second generation sounds like it will be as great a series as the first!

Wow, Jude has been through a lot in his short life. When some of his problems were discovered while he was a kid, his best friend Alessi’s family took him in. His experiences in his early life lead to a lot for him. Agoraphobia, a passion for Alessi’s sister that he holds close to his heart, and a fear for how people may look at him if they found out.

Despite his phobia, Jude will do anything he can to be supportive of Al or Angie to share his love and appreciation however he can. When Al starts telling lies, avoiding contact, showing up late to work and going MIA, he and Angie work together to get to the bottom of what’s going on – and with Jude and Angie being together regularly, their pull starts to do what they’ve both been trying to avoid for so long – make them crave one another more and more.

This isn’t a storyline you see often, with an older woman being the object of a younger mans desire, and it was a new POV for me that I enjoyed. There were a lot of things being dangled throughout the book that basically were inconclusive, or rushed to a conclusion. The rest of the book was good enough I’d read again even though I felt a few aspects had more potential than they were given and felt like an afterthought.

The Hawke family in both generations offer captivating stories, romance, danger, intensity, familial support, love, friendship, tradition and more. The opportunities that arise in each addition to the series stay interesting and easy to read, offering intrigue and desire to see what happens next.

As with every book I have ever read by this author, this one is absolutely fantastic. It took no effort at all for me to get into this book. I was pulled in right from the start and was hooked on the characters. This story was so emotional. It was complex and heart wrenching, with complicated characters. It is exciting to read and I became invested really quickly.
This is an author that I never fail to enjoy. Her books are ones that I buy without reading the description because I know how amazing it will be. I loved the fact that this is a spin off as the original series was so good. And after reading this book I know this series is definitely going to be just as good. I would highly recommend this book.

This book was thoroughly enjoyable. This was an intriguing story that kept me glued to the pages. At a young age Jude had been through some horrific things. The trauma Jude has lived through has made his anxiety and panic attacks debilitating at times. Angie has always had a special place in her heart for Jude ever since the day she met him while he was sitting in the closet with her sister Allie. Jude has always felt something for Angie as well since the day they meant. There is an age difference between these two but that’s not the only obstacle, Angie is a Hawke and Jude doesn’t feel like he is good enough for them or to be with Angie. This story is an emotional read and has a lot of great characters. This is a great series and this book is another great one added to it. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book.

Oh this Hawke family, has my heart, even this second generation of Hawkes! I am not sure which Hawke member this title refers to more, Angelina, Jude, or Allie.

So many secrets. The additional trauma each character has gone through adds to their angst. The fear of not being accepted has all three unable to express themselves. Luckily this author doesn’t make the characters or the readers suffer for very long!

Even with the unanswered concerns relating to the family, this was a great story! Can not wait to see what this author brings in the next story!

This book is book 2 in the series, but can definitely be read as a standalone, though I don’t think you will want to. Jude had a rough childhood until he was found and adopted by the Hawke family. He slowly, but surely, learns how to be a part of a family, but still keeps the family at arm’s length. Angelina is 12 years older than Jude, and the older sister of his best friend, Allie, another Hawke family member who upon meeting him for the first time, helps him through the panic and the rough adjustment of being in their family. Then, suddenly Jude locks himself in his second story loft, and quits showing up or even going outside at all. Nobody is sure what caused the change, until he explains that one of the people whom made his young life so hard had suddenly reappeared in a place where he didn’t expect him to be and it caused him to retreat to what he felt was safety. When Angelina and Jude are forced to spend time together one-on-one due to Allie becoming unpredictable, they finally let down their guard and allow their feelings to flow, without fear of protecting themselves, the sparks fly.

Great continuation of the series, I am so hooked. This book had me hooked from the first page and kept me fully engrossed throughout the entire time reading it. There’s so much emotion and some unexpected plot twists, some I didn’t see coming. This was so good; I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series and from this author!

Jude has lived on the streets for years but the Hawkes took him under their wings, helping him through a troubled time. Now he’s considered a Hawke but that’s the trouble, Jude loves Angelina, a true Hawk family member. The fact that Jude lived on the streets has him keeping things to himself. But what he might really need is to face those things head on. Will anyone be there for him? The twists and turns that come up during the story kept me reading well into the night. As with the other Hawke series, this book was well written with great characters and world building.

The prequel where Jack and Issac (known to her as Nolan) is a must read so you have some back story.

A steamy prequel of the younger generation of the Hawk family member. Nolan (Issac Hawk) who has recently graduated from Law School in Chicago meets a beautiful red head in a bar who gives him her name as Jack instead of her real name. The two have one amazing steamy night together. In the morning they can’t seem to let go. Soon it turns into a weekend together will these two who amazingly came together work things out so they can be together?
The author did a wonderful job of character and world building.

Reticent Hawke: A Billionaire Reverse Age Gap Best Friend’s Older Sister Forbidden Romance (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 2)

I am 100% obsessed with the Hawke family and getting to know the second generation after reading their parents stories and in some cases their birth makes me feel a little more connected to them.

This one made me feel all of the emotions. I laughed and cried. Was happy and then absolutely heartbroken sometimes all on the same chapter though it felt like same page.

Angelina’s cafe is a success life is pretty good until Alessandra started acting weird and Angie had to go to Allie’s best friend, everything changed then for all of them.

I fell in love with this family from the moment I met them seven years ago and I hope I’m still reading about them in another seven years. I can’t seem to be able to get enough of the Hawke family.

Absolutely must read this book and series. There is so many connections to the previous books that you should start at the beginning and work you way through.

Oh man… This book… I was literally refusing sleep to finish it. The author knew what she was doing with this story. I was ALL in from the first page. This world (even though I’m from New Orleans) still manages to keep me absolutely enthralled. I felt like I was living in this family. I could just immerse myself into the whole story. I am a huge fan of this author. I look forward to many more books!
