It’s Caspian’s Unbirthday and he can’t wait to see what surprise Grandpa got him this year! When he opens the box he finds a yellow pencil and a small pad of green paper but it’s not just any pencil, it’s a Know-It-All pencil! Caspian sets out on a “star adventure” on his way to school.

This is a cute children’s book that involves make believe, doing good deeds, helping others out and trading for things others want/need. There is a lot of diversity among the characters, which I think is really important in a children’s book. The illustrations are very colorful and super cute. I would recommend this book for kiddos age pre-K thru 3rd grade.

It’s Caspian’s birthday. Grandpa always leaves him a special gift under his bed. This year’s gift takes him on an adventure that has him trading items until he has what he needs for Miss Susie, the cafeteria lady. What a fun story! I love the progressive steps the story takes as the tale progresses. The story is fun and the items are objects that teach younger children new words. I also love how the story shows that helping others is a wonderful thing. Fun and excited learning! That’s a winner in this Grandma’s eyes. “I want a pencil like that.” (my grandson ((he’s autistic)) review). I would recommend this story for all all children. A fun story for bedtime.

This was a very quick, witty and adorable read for kids! I absolutely loved how the author showed kids how to “barter” or trade as Caspian did a lot of that to finally get what the notebook predicted. Then he learned a little cool fact, too! I really hope this author continues this series with all sorts of words and fun facts! The kids loved it.

I really enjoyed this children’s book. I loved the diversity of the characters and I loved the idea of the unbirthday gift. As a parent, we always celebrate my son’s half-birthday! I am a teacher and could really see how useful this book could be in the classroom to show students how you can start with a simple, common object and use it to create a whole story around. This story would be great to use with children 3-6 as a fun read-aloud or for slightly older children if teaching a creative writing lesson.

This was a really cute book! I enjoyed the way the author included the main character Caspian helping those he met along his way to school while he tried to figure out what the message from his know-it-all pencil was about. The illustrations were well done and caught mine and my daughter’s attention as we read the story together!
Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children!

This was definitely a cute book! My five year old really enjoyed the magic of it, even though I did have to explain pencils like this dont exist. I was however able to make a comparison for her that while these pencils are magic our intuition is very much a real thing!

This was a cute story and my kids enjoyed it. As with her other books they have read, this one also contained a story. This time a life lesson on sharing and giving to others through a magic pencil. I also love how she incorporates characters that are so diverse in each of her books. This was so enjoyable to read even as a parent.. I love how the illustrations fit perfectly with the story being told. The colors are outstanding. They truly pop of the page. Just as with her previous books, this one would also make a great gift to a child that you know. Or also to a school library or elementary teacher. Another hit for this writer and the illustrator as well.

The Know It All Pencil is one of the cutest children’s books I have ever read. Caspian is an adventurous young man that receives the Know It All pencil from his grandfather for his UnBirthday. The pencil then leads him on an adventure. I really love how sweet and caring Caspian is. Also, the African American representation in the book is a definite plus. I cannot wait to read this book to my children again. It was absolutely adorable.

A sweet story about being willing to go on an adventure. Caspian received a special gift from his grandpa for his Unbirthday. The gift was a pad of paper and The Know-It-All pencil. Caspian had to take the chance and follow the Know-It-All pencil. His morning was filled with meeting new people and finding fun. Throughout his journey the Know-It-All pencil guided him. The beauty of the story comes in Caspian’s willingness to trust and believe in his grandpa and the Know-It-All pencil.

A wonderful fantastical scavenger hunt style kids book.

First off, I haven’t read the other books in the series so I am very curious as to what exactly an UnBirthday is!

To the actual review part: I really enjoyed this short kids book. There’s instances of magic and fantasy with a pencil that knows it all and is writing out clues for Caspian, the main character. Caspian is encouraged to go on a type of scavenger hunt by following the clues the Pencil gives him and along the way he learns skills, lessons, and the value of “paying it forward.”

I loved that we get characters of diversity (age, ability, gender, skin color, and even animals) in this book and we see them all treated with the same respect.

Would recommend this for children 4+ and as a read along for those on the younger side. The pictures are very well illustrated and are great at grabbing your attention.

This book was a cute quick little read. I can’t wait to read this to the kids I care for next week. They loved the last book by this author that I read to them. This book is about Caspian and his un-birthday gift of a know it all pencil. As with the previous book I’ve read by this author, the pictures are amazing.

The Know-It-All Pencil is an original and imaginative tale for children between the ages of 6 to 8 years. It is a delightful, and fun fantasy story. It is the fifth book the “Invisible Magic Wand” series by this author. I read this book to my grandsons, and they were entertained and engaged and loved looking at the colourful illustrations.
If you want to know what the pencil knows then you need to grab a copy and a snuggle buddy or two and journey along with Caspian on his UnBirthday adventure.

This was a cute story. I think that my second grade students would have a good time discussing what their “know it all pencil” would write. I had to read the story a few times because I felt like some of the plot was rushed and didn’t always make sense. I would be interested to see other writings by this author.

This was a cute children’s story that I thought taught trust and helping others. A special gift from his Grandpa for his unbirthday, Caspian never knows what to expect. This year was no different when he received a pad of paper a pencil. This pencil took Caspian on an adventure where I thought the story did a great job of showing the importance of helping other and trusting those that are out to help you. Both my daughters enjoyed this cute story and really like the illustrations.

Very cute children’s story! Caspian’s grandpa has given him another “unbirthday” gift and this year it’s a pencil. The pencil gives Caspian clues and he has to figure out what they mean. While the premise of this idea is good, I’m not sure a child would be able to figure out what the author was intending. The illustrations were bright and descriptive. The sentences were fairly simple so someone working on learning to read would be able to read this book. Overall, good children’s book.

Cute book and story! The illustrations were great, the adventure was one I think a child would enjoy, and the celebration of one’s unbirthday would make any child giddy with excitement. This starts to give children examples of respect and trade all while still having a nice adventure. I think it would make a good addition to any young person’s library.

The pictures were colorful and really went along with the story .I loved how creative the story was and how the gift turns to be something more. I find it was a good lesson, at first glance, not al things are what they seem. The characters really added nicely to the story and it was very enjoyable. This book is cute. The artwork is well done and contributes to the story. I like that it is teaching children about how the world sometimes interconnects and sometimes by helping one person, you can help others. Caspian is given a present on his UnBirthday by his grandfather of a pad and a pencil that can write by itself, and seemingly predict the future. It first writes a single word, and once Caspian is able to obtain that one item, he tries again, and it gives him the name of a person he knows, so he finds this person and it turns out the item helps the person. I do feel like it was a bit short, but otherwise, I liked it.

This was a cute book about a little boy who wakes up to a present that leads him on an adventure.I did enjoy the story. However, I feel like I understood more about what was implied than a child would have. There is a definite story here but I would have liked it to either be more descriptive or simpler. Like I said, very cute book with a cute idea.

The-Know-It-All-Pencil (Invisible Magic Wand Series) is a children’s book that we (my four year old) loved reading. It’s a fun little story about a little boy named Caspian and what happens when the pencil and pad of paper comes to life. Follow Caspian on his fun adventure with The-Know-It-All-Pencil and green pad. My son loved this story and all the colorful illustrations. He was making up his own story with each picture. I highly recommend reading this book especially if you have small children. I’m definitely going to check out the other books 8n this children’s series.

Have you ever celebrated an UnBirthday?! Such a fun idea!!!! In this book Caspian’s grandfather always leaves him an unexpecting present for his unbirthday. This year it’s a pencil and pad of green paper. When Caspian picks up the pencil an adventure starts that’s sure to be weird and mysterious. What does this special pencil gift know? Where will it lead Caspian? I thought that my 7 year old would enjoy this short story. I love the unbirthday idea and so did she. We also cut up an apple just for fun and to see the star!
