Three new cases come to the MDPI team on the same morning…

When PI Madeline Dawkins is summoned to Monte Verde―the serene assisted living complex where her father resides―she’s concerned Mack’s ideal setup is about to come to an end. Instead, the facility director enlists MDPI’s help in resolving a very troubling situation.

Someone is sending poison pen letters to the residents at Monte Verde, hinting at dark secrets from their pasts—accusations that have already driven one elderly woman to take her own life.

Back at the office, Jack Waverly, the attorney next door, has a client going through a very nasty divorce. Janelle Marsby’s estranged husband has launched a particularly ugly intimidation offensive designed to wear her down. The tactics Roy’s using to coerce Janelle into giving up her share of their community property assets are ruthless and criminal. Their mission is to keep Janelle safe while they dig up all of Roy’s shady dealings.

Glen Langford enlists Mike’s help in finding his 18 year old daughter who ran off with a cult five months earlier. His own searches led him through five states before his last tip led him to Santa Barbara. His biggest break came from a rancher who took Alison in after he ran the cult off his land, only to learn that she had been physically, sexually and psychologically abused by the leader of the cult.

It’s all hands on deck as the MDPI team tackle all three urgent cases, racing against time.

Cynthia Hamilton started writing 2000 as a means of coping with a mystery illness that was finally diagnosed as late-stage Lyme Disease nine years after the onset. That horrible disease turned out to be a blessing in disguise, giving her a career she never imagined for herself, one that never gets old.

She is currently working on the 9th book in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series and is still finding inspiration from her protagonist. She lives in Santa Barbara, California with her husband. She loves reading, writing and walking for hours, especially on the beach. She considers herself immensely fortunate.

I liked the book, but honestly it is hard to review it well because I haven’t read any of the others in this series so I don’t really know the background of any of the characters. However it is a very well written story, I am looking forward to going back and reading the other books in this series.

I read several of The Madeline Dawkins Series a couple of years ago. Through the books, Madeline’s character grew from a trophy wife to a private investigator. This all came about due to Madeline’s ex-husband embezzling money through a Ponzi scheme.

Since starting the private investigation business with her friend and now husband Mike, they have proved themselves to be good investigators that complete jobs and also assists the police. In this book, Madeline and Mike are working on solving three different cases that bring them work but stress too.

I really missed reading the series. I love Madeline and Mike’s personalities and how they work together. The author does a wonderful job of creating the atmosphere and locations the PI business takes them to. I look forward to catching up on reading the books in this series that I missed.

Other people’s money is book 7 in the Madeline Dawkins series. Although i have not read any of the other books in this series I still really enjoyed this read. Othe people’s money is captivating right from the begging of the book. This read is not usually my cup of tea but this author sucks you in with Maddie and her people solving cases. Lots of twists and surprises in this book and just keeps you entangled in this book. I honestly look forward to read more books by this Author and I will have to go back and read the other books in this series although you can follow along without reading the other books, I highly suggest that you start from the beginning you won’t regret it :). Thank you to wonderful Author for writing this wonderful read.

Other People’s Money is wonderful well-written, suspenseful mystery, with interesting characters. While this book is part of a series; it reads well as a stand alone novel. Maddie and Mike, two private investigators are working on three investigations. Each case, reveals something peculiar and creates tension; which made reading this novel great.
There were a few times where I thought I had figured out the ending; I was kept guessing until the end-which did not disappoint!

This book is another fantastic addition to this series, full of plot twists at every turn. I always find it so easy to get back into one of these books, connecting with the characters again straight away. I always enjoy how interesting these stories are. Usually this far into a series it starts to lose steam but the author has done a great job of keeping up the momentum.
This book is exciting to read. I found myself trying to put the pieces together and yet the author does so well to keep you guessing. I am still really enjoying this series and I cannot wait for whatever the author produces next.

Other People’s Money is the seventh book in The Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. Oh boy- Madeline and crew have their work cut out for them solving this slew of new cases. From embezzlement to unearthing a Gold Digger, every clue they uncover leads to more questions, complications, tangled web of secrets, manipulation, scams and cons, in the grab for other people’s money. But nothing is as it appears to be and the team seem to hit block after block- so will they ever manage to uncover the truth and finally close their cases- or will this be the time that Madeline and team get outplayed by the bad guys? Add in some tension, adventure, drama, mystery, suspense, doubts, and interconnected details- and things take quite an intriguing turn.
This book could be read as a standalone- but I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one, as even though each book is a self-contained mystery/adventure, and each delivers its own fantastic read- all combined, they help to build detail, character information and development, and impart other important and intriguing information that creates a bigger picture, which, in turn, will enhance your overall reading experience. So, trust me, it is definitely worth starting this series at the beginning!
Cynthia Hamilton is one of my favourite authors, and Madeline Dawkins is one of my ‘must read- no questions asked’ series that I have loved since devouring book one. I doubt if I will ever tire of her adventures, so I hope there are many more to come.
Looking forward to diving into Breach of Trust (Book #8)!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Cynthia Hamilton!

Other People’s Money is the seventh book in the Madeline Dawkins series. This can be read as a standalone book but is much more enjoyed if read after the preceding books in the series. Madeline is on the case again with her husband, Mike, and associate Samir. What starts as one case quickly grows to three in this book. Are the cases related, or do they have a common thread of “Other People’s Money”? I always enjoy the build-up of suspense in this author’s books, and this one didn’t disappoint. Madeline and her team work well together and always figure out the case, but I enjoy the journey. The cases in this book were intriguing and kept me questioning who was at the bottom of everything. I look forward to grabbing the next book in the series soon.

Mike and Madeline Dawkins are faced with a new case to solve. As they begin to investigate the case of the missing bookkeeper who’s also embezzled money, other cases start to land in their laps too. Jane is concerned for the business she and her husband run when their bookkeeper and tenant has disappeared over the weekend. She was last seen with a man driving a black Range Rover.

George and Daphne are ready to go get hitched but George’s son has an inkling that Daphne may not be on the up and up. She is, after all, thirty years younger than George. Mike and Madeline are hired, along with their team, to investigate who Daphne really is and try to prevent this union from taking place.

Stacey has insider information when her company is about to go public and she begins shorting her shares of the company. Then she disappears. It seems she may have more than one love interest so could one of them be the culprit?

With all these cases going on at once, Mike approaches Madeline to see if they might want to employ more help in their PI business. As if Madeline needed anyone stress in her life…or could this be a help to them?

This is book 7 in a series that is new to me. I have not read the previous six books but I thoroughly enjoyed this one enough that I will be seeking out the previous books. I felt like this was able to be read as a standalone even though this is part of a series. I enjoyed the writing style of Cynthia Hamilton and how she weaved together multiple cases and tied them all up in the end with a bit of a twist. Several times I thought I had figured out the case but I was wrong!

This is a series that keeps getting better and better with every book added to it. I highly suggest reading the other books in this series to help your enhancement of this series as well as this author’s writing style. Madeline is back with another suspenseful investigation and one you don’t want to miss. I found this book to be fast paced and engaging. A hard to put down story that has twists and turns that had me turning pages fast. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into the story from the start. Madeline is a great, strong character that has been my favorite of this series. She finds herself into some suspenseful investigations and this one is no different. She is on the search for a missing bookkeeper plus a search into a woman who may not be who she seems. There is alot going on in this story but the author did a great job of transitioning between the two. I really enjoyed watching the growth in this book and enjoyed what the characters added to the story. I highly recommend this book.

When I saw Other People’s Money by Cynthia was out, I jumped on it because I love this series. Madeline and her adventures always make me laugh in one way or another and my heart pounding and kept me on the edge of my seat. It has been a while since I have read one of her works. This is the seventh thrilling book in the Madeline Dawkins mystery series. Make sure to read these books in order because then you get all the background of the characters and their backstory. Trust me you will love them as well.
Madeline and Mike and their PI agency find themselves embroiled in a trio of cases that intertwine with each other. Three seemingly unrelated cases are suddenly much more than they first seemed. Of course, things never run smoothly when Madeline is involved.
Money always brings out the worst in people and especially when it is not yours. Embezzlement, gold-diggers, a missing bookkeeper, a mystery woman are just some of what you work to untangle along with Madeline and Mike.
While Madeline and her team search for the missing bookkeeper and try to get the skinny on the possible gold-digger, startling connections begin to appear that will leave you following the trail of other people’s money until the very last page.
Other People’s Money is full of secrets and lies, suspense and danger and so much more.
You are gonna love it.

Madeline, Mike and Samir are back. I found this to be quite the intriguing suspense thriller. I loved the cases in this story. The fact that they all end up somehow related makes for such a complex and complicated story. The way it kicks off with the appearance of her ex in Switzerland is fantastic and a heck of way to just srt with a bang. Here I am, let’s jump right into the story… I found the characters to be flat out, well written. Her former friend popping up, and looking sneaky, just gave it right away. Some clues are within the writing and I love that. The details are in the story. The reading grabs a hold and won’t let you go. I find that the flow is very smooth and just flows well. You go from case to case. A terrific suspense read.

On top of these good things happening to her businesses, Madeline finds out one of her kidnappers is being released from jail. A High Price to Pay, the second book in the Madeline Dawkins series is a fantastic continuation of Spouse Trap. I feel this book deserves a 4 star rating as I thoroughly enjoyed the book from start to finish, just as much, if not more than the first book.
I really liked Madeline’s character in the first book but her development throughout this book makes her even more enjoyable. I believe I mentioned in my review of Spouse Trap that the first book I read by this author was a completely different genre and I was truly impressed with the range of writing, the strength of storyline and the twists and turns that kept me invested. Once again Cynthia Hamilton has impressed me with the strength of her writing and I would recommend this series to anyone that enjoys a well written mystery.

A High Price To pay is the 2nd book in the Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is a great detective series which is thrilling and fast paced.
3 years have passed since we left Madeline and Mike at the end of Spouse Trap. They are now newly qualified as private detectives and Madeline is still working in her role as an event planner. When a huge glamorous event that Madeline is working on becomes a murder enquiry, her and Mike become embroiled in solving the murder.
At the same time one of the thugs who kidnaped Madeline 3 years earlier is back on the scene and Madeline’s life is in danger.
This is a very fast paced, thrilling, suspenseful novel that I was hooked on from the very beginning. As much as I enjoyed Spouse Trap, I thought this book was so much better. I was so engaged in the storyline and couldn’t wait to see how it all panned out.
Cynthia Hamilton sure knows how to write a detective story. The intricate plot is so well thought out and keeps you hooked and you will not want to put this book down.
I can’t wait to read more of Madeline and Mike’s adventures.

A High Price to Pay is the second novel in the Madeline Dawkins series. In ‘A High Price to Pay’, Madeline is working as both an events coordinator and as a private investigator, her jobs cross paths during a weekend long fortieth birthday extravaganza for the wife of a famous film director. Following the theft of some family jewels, Madeline does a background check and along with Mike is soon dealing with a murder investigation. To add to her troubles Madeline is informed that one of the men that abducted her three years previously is being released early having done a deal with the Feds. As Madeline helped put Rick Yeoman in prison she fears he may come after her.
This is a gripping murder mystery, crime drama with a fast paced storyline and great characters. It was lovely to be back with Madeline who is still dealing with the events from book one and who along with partner Mike is continuing with her private investigator work. Madeline is a wonderful female lead and I love her witty one liners. The story had me hooked from page one just as the previous book in this series did. Although it can be read as a standalone story, personally I feel the reader would enjoy it more if they have read the previous book and so have Madeline’s backstory.
I look forward to future books in this series.

A High Price to Pay is the second novel in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton. Madeline is pursuing two professions, event coordinator and private investigator. With her life long friend Mike, she stumbles into a murder investigation and shortly after another body is discovered. While all this is going on, Madeline gets news that Rick Yeoman, a man who abducted her three years ago, has been released from jail. With the release of Rick also brings the reappearance of Lionel Usherwood, who is seeking revenge. Yeoman’s body is found in Lake Cachuma and Madeline is Lionel’s next target.

The author did a wonderful job portraying such a thrilling mystery. The story did seem to end abruptly while other less important parts dragged on, but overall I think it was well written. I look forward to reading other stories by Hamilton.

This book did not disappoint me. I had some higher expectations of this book since it was the second book and inwas familiar with the author and she delivered and then some.

We pick up with Madeleine and Mike three years after the last book. They are official Private Investigators and ready to go once Madeleine is done with this over the top birthday party.

I’m usually pretty good about figuring out things before it’s revealed but this one had me stumped with a lot of changing of my mind and I loved it.
