The Magic Man (The Olympic Peninsula series Book 3)The Magic Man by Cat Treadgold
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book three to The Olympic Peninsula series and even though you COULD read this without reading the others (the author does a wonderful job at explaining who everyone is and giving little tidbits to let you know what happened in the previous books), I personally would just recommend that you read them all. You don’t have to, like I said the author is wonderful, but I would. Plus once you read one you will want to read the others to learn about these wonderful characters and their somewhat odd stories/lives. In this book you read David and Maddie’s story. David returns to the family for his sister Teresa’s wedding (her book is number 2). It’s odd that he just shows up out of the blue and the rest of the family can’t quite get a read on him. He’s been a surgeon in Africa for the last four years, but he doesn’t want to discuss it. He also doesn’t want to talk about his fiancée who’s coming to visit around the holidays. Weird right? But they’re not the only guests visiting the family. Maddie who is a serious actress is also staying at the O’Connell Compound and she has a leading role at the local theater! Unfortunately her co-star is Kilo, who’s the local yoga instructor, Teresa’s ex husband, and a huge charmer of the ladies. Even though she is drawn to David, knowing he’s engaged and his life is going another direction Maddie is pulled into Kilo’s web full of charm and excitement. She’s okay with a little theater fling, but it will end when the show does. Right? David wants Maddie, but his life is so complicated right now. He left Africa for a reason, he is busy appeasing his fiancée, and he also needs to figure out some custody issues as well. These two would have been perfect for each other. Time just isn’t on their side. Their lives are not on the same path right now. If only they could hit a reset button and meet each other at another time in their lives. Such a great series!! I can’t wait to finish it!! Grab this set today if you love contemporary romances with twists and turns and even a little magic!!

Having read the previous 2 books I was rather keen to get stuck into this one because you read of the different family members and you get furious don’t you , so when the opportunity comes knocking to discover more you grab it 😉

Two things that bring families together , weddings and funerals . Fortunately in this instance it’s a wedding ! Yay !
So Teresa is getting married and David her brother , who’s been working in Africa , joins them in Port Townsend .
Something is off though , he doesn’t seem himself and there’s a fiancé in tow ….

Family friend , Maddie catches his eye and you can feel the tension between them and David is having a tough time fighting his desires and walking on eggshells to keep Sylvie happy….

Maddie being an actress has an opportunity with the local theatre and she feels she can’t pine after David forever and she catches the eye of Kilo….

  1. There’s so much to love about this book but what really gets me and what I appreciate is the “ humanness “ of the characters , they’re real , their issues are real and they work through them 🥰

This book is part of a series but in my opinion, it can be read as a standalone. It is an emotional rollercoaster and it will keep you captivated until the very last page. The main theme is love of family even when there are broken pieces.

The Magic Man
By: Cat Treadgold

This is the third book in the Olympic Peninsula series. I have found each of these books amazing and have read them very quickly. Each book definitely functions as a standalone but I do recommend reading each of them to get all the feels of the series.
In this book we are back with the O’Connell family. These siblings all have much love for one another and each lives a very interesting life. This story is Maddie, David, and Kilo. These characters had some true sparks in the second book. The focus is on David and his time in Africa. The author does a fantastic job in this story creating vivid imagery. It is not hard to picture the Olympic Peninsula or Africa. This describes the love triangle between the three main characters in depth and I have to say that I was rooting for each of them at different points. I definitely recommending this book and the whole series! I definitely hope there is more to come from the O’Connell family and the Olympic Peninsula!

David has been away in Africa for several years as a doctor treating those in need. The family is trying to figure out why David seems so different from the smart kid who wanted to help others. Maddie is a young actress who is contemplating life as she knows it now and how long she can continue on her path. As with the other books in this series, the author does a beautiful job of character and world building. The Olympic peninsula and the O’Connell family and friends make these book not only fun to read but suck you into the story so you will want to read all 3 books in a day if you could.

The Magic Man is book 3 of this Olympic Peninsula series. It follows the O’Connell siblings David, Maddie and the love triangle between them and Kilo. I was super duper excited to read this one after finishing the last two. This whole series is so well written and so well described that it makes me wanna go there for a visit 😂 I was happy Maddie ended up with who I wanted ( you’ll have to read to see lmao) . This can also be read as a standalone just like the rest but as always I highly suggest reading the whole series because they are awesome sauce. I can’t wait for more from this author

Take me back!!! Whew. I love this author, I love this series. Here we are, book 3… David and Maddie (and Kilo…kinda) While this is the 3rd book, you COULD read it alone, but by reading the whole series, you truly get the whole picture, and understand more of the little things between the characters. I didn’t think I’d love another book more than the 1st, but this one is fighting REALLLLLLLY hard for that spot. If you love a great romance, with a little bit of a mystery and alll the good stuff in between, you wont wanna miss this series, or, just this book, (but absolutely read the series if you have the time!!)

I’ve loved each book in this series, but this may be my favorite so far! In this book we focused on David and hearing about his experience as a doctor in Africa. Maddie and Kilo are also a focus in this story, and it will have you on the edge of your seat forgetting about your real-world duties for a bit. The author sets the scene with such vivid imagery that I felt like I was fully immersed in the Pacific Northwest! While you can likely read this as a standalone without much confusion, I highly recommend reading from the beginning to get the full backstory and experience. Don’t skip this series!

This is the third book in the Olympic Peninsula series. Although you could read each as a standalone, the previous characters do cross over, and you gain a deeper understanding of previous events and the characters by reading in order. This book focuses on David and Maddie coming together.
David has returned from Africa altered, to the concern of his family and meets Maddie. Instant chemistry. Unfortunately, David is taken and so Maddie decides to move on but isn’t necessarily being true to herself. As usual the author writes in such an engaging and easy flowing way it is so easy to get lost in the story and invested in the pair’s lives. The way the character’s secrets are slowly revealed and the truth of who they are, and their lives is developed is well-written and I didn’t want to put the book down.
The descriptive narrative, which is what hooked me in the first book, continues to bring the scenery and characters to life as the series progresses and I can’t help but wanting more!

Fantastic continuation of this series! I love that you can read these as standalones or as the series. I always recommend reading as a series simply because you will get little details here and there that you would otherwise miss; however, with this series, those details are not so important to each plot that you have to read it as a series. I love that we continue to follow the O’Connell siblings and are now focused on David and Maddie (who is also interested in Kilo, the yoga instructor) and their journey to finding out what they all want. I love the setting of this series, the Pacific Northwest, and I absolutely love Treadgold’s writing. You really can’t go wrong with this series. There is intrigue, mystery, love, heartbreak, and so much more. I highly, highly recommend starting this series right now…whether it’s book 1 or book 3!

The Magic Man (The Olympic Peninsula series Book 3)The Magic Man by Cat Treadgold
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the The Olympic Peninsula series. These romances are really good reads. Each book does follow a different couples story however the characters do cross over as they are related in some way to other characters in books that come before.

This is David and Maddie’s story.

David has returned from Africa for his sisters wedding. But something doesn’t seem quite right with him. Gone is the happy carefree man that left for Africa. What has caused his change? Could it the things he has seen as a doctor in Africa or is there something or someone closer to home causing the change?

The connection between Maddie and David is immediate but with David’s partner around Maddie decides to move on by meeting Kilo.
Now she finds herself in a kind of triangle as she is torn between David and Kilo. She can’t stop thinking about David and how well matched they are even though he is taken, but she also knows there isn’t any hope as he is spoken for.
Which man will she choose? The man who knows her completely or the man who has fallen for the image she portrays.

These stories are beautifully written with so many twist and turns that I couldn’t put it down. The characters are so well developed that if feels like they could be members of my own family.
These stories show that relationships aren’t all sunshine and roses but hard work and learning how to overcome obstacles together. I love these stories

The Magic Man (The Olympic Peninsula Book 3) by Cat Treadgold. This is the story of David who has gone home to Port Townsend to attend the wedding of his sister. David has always been fun and outgoing but his family has noticed he is very quiet and not talking about his fiancee or his work in Africa as a Doctor. During the wedding events David meets Maddie who is a actress in town for the wedding. As David and Maddie spend time together they are really enjoying each other’s company. Their chemistry is immediate and David knows he can’t act on it because of his fiancee. Maddie likes David because he is smart and kind and David likes Maddie because she is sweet and has a great sense of humor. David drops it because he knows that he can’t go further because of his fiancee. Maddie also has feelings for Kilo who owns the yoga studio and is sexy! Who will Maddie choose and will she find her happily every after? Will David finally let out his secrets? This is a awesome romance!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Magic Man is book 3 in this series. Bringing us back to The Olympic Peninsula. The author takes the reader on another journey of one of the O’Connell siblings’ troubles and journey. Though not completely focused on him, Maddie is the lead in this story. He is very much involved.
Maddie finds herself in a triangle. She has feelings for both David and Kilo. While trying to get to know the family her mother is marrying into she finds herself on the O’Connell compound. Where David, newly back from Africa, is staying. She’s intrigued by David, but doesn’t feel like she’s good enough for him. Then there’s Kilo. Teresa’s ex, who owns the yoga studio, screams sex appeal. He knows what he wants and goes for it. Everyone knows it’s not the best idea, but decides to let Maddie make her own decision.
Is it a mistake?
Should she leave Kilo behind and move on?
Well she tried and he’s back now she’s back to being torn. At the same time feels David hates her.
David wants to make things right but how? Maddie won’t give him the time of day. He needs to go about it correctly, to truly show her how he feels vs what she overheard.
Will he be successful?
These books though a series work well as a standalone novel as well. The supporting cast gets their own chapters or parts of chapters, however even then it always ends up back on the books main focus.
The O’Connell family is upstanding and extremely loving. However there’s been some broken pieces throughout all 3 books. Will David be able to fix his broken piece? I guess you will have to read to find out!

This book is the third in the series and is just as good as the previous books. I loved getting to know a bit more about David and his situation. Watching his connection with Maddie develop was great to see as it felt real and genuine.
The story is well written and has a great pace to it. The author always knows exactly what needs to be done to progress the story. I am really enjoying becoming more familiar with this authors work and cannot wait to discover more. This is a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Having read the previous books in this enjoyable series I was looking forward to this third book and I was not disappointed. It can be read as a standalone story, however the characters do crossover and I love being able to ‘catch up’ with past characters. David O’ Connell has returned to Port Townsend for his sister Teresa’s wedding having spent four years as a surgeon in Africa. His family are concerned about him as he used to be cheerful and outgoing but is now subdued and secretive. He won’t even talk about his time in Africa or his fiancée Sylvia. When David and family friend actress Maddie meet they have instant chemistry, but once his fiancée arrives for Christmas David is soon busy appeasing her. Maddie realises she needs to move on and so when she meets her co-star and local heartthrob Kilo she is soon swayed by his charm. Maddie and David know they could be good together if given the chance, but there are so many obstacles between them, and why do David’s colleagues in Africa call him “the magic man”. As usual the characters and setting are brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, making me feel fully immersed in the storyline.

I was excited to get to dive into another Cat Treadgold story featuring the O’Connell family! The star of this story is David, who has just returned from Africa. He’s a doctor that people refer to as the “magic man”. He has a fiancée who is a bit on the prickly side. David runs into Maddie at a family get-together and sparks start to fly between them. Maddie soon realizes that David isn’t exactly a free man to pursue so she sets her sites on Kilo. Who will win out in the end?

This story has it all and then some! I have really enjoyed this series and I hope more books will follow soon!

What a wonderful addition to the series!! Maddie and David’s story flows so well with the continuation of all the others. Having read the previous books in the series there were some redundant parts but necessary for someone who started with this book. I’m not sure I like the ending because it just, well, ends. There’s no summation or even a fin. Overall great book!

I absolutely love this book series, if I could give it more stars on the rating scale I would. The Magic Man is the third book in The Olympic Peninsula series, where we get to read the story of Joe’s older brother, David, and find out about what happened to cause him to return from his time working as a doctor in Africa. Not only do we get to follow along with David, but we also get to know Maddie’s story. The sparks were flying between David, Kilo, and Maddie, at the end of the last book in this series, it’s time to find out which guy she chooses to be with. Also, what is up with Sylvia, David’s fiancé from Africa, he claims he will not be marrying but has to deal with issues that are weighing heavily on him. I love that this series takes place in the Pacific Northwest, a place I know very well. Cat Treadgold has done an amazing job portraying the beauty of Port Townsend, and the feeling of unity that is so well-known in its small community. It’s great that we get to continue with the story of the main characters from the first 2 books in this series. This group has grown together, but sometimes being together all the time, can lead to feelings of being too close. Will each of the couples be able to work through their marital issues, or will we see some relationships that have been building take a turn for the worse? You will not want to put this book down once you start reading it, the best part, is you do not have to read them in the order that they were written, I prefer to do it this way, but each book can stand on its own just as well. You’ll just be missing out on some great stories if you skip any.

The Magic Man is book 3 In The Olympic Peninsula Series, as with the first 2, I am a BIG fan of them. Not only because they are just so well written, but because I actually live in Port Townsend and in the first pages, they are at Manresa Castle in which my daughter is actually the Hotel manager. So, these books have been extra fun for me to read. They are contemporary romance full of family, love, drama and all the good stuff. This is David and Maddie’s story. All of the characters are well written and interesting which makes them easy to connect with. I of course could not put it down and would highly recommend.

The 3rd book in this series and you will want to read them in order as they do overlap and the storyline keeps growing and developing from book to book. This book is mainly about David and Maddie but you get a lot of situations arising with the first two couples from books one and two as well. The tension, both sexual and otherwise, between Maddie and David is felt on almost every page. I found myself rooting for them.

The Magic Man is the third book in The Olympic Peninsula series by Cat Treadgold. It is another well-woven contemporary romance with interesting characters, family dynamics, emotion, drama, angst, complications, a bit of a love triangle element, interconnected characters, intrigue, and more.
Here we meet David O’Connell who has arrived for his sister Teresa’s wedding (Teresa & Liam’s story ->’The Guardsman’ Book #2). His family notice that he isn’t the man he used to be- what is he hiding? What happened to him to make him so serious, subdued, and secretive? As the story unfolds the intrigue mounts, and when revelations are made, the story doesn’t let go.
As with the first two instalments, Ms. Treadgold has woven a great story with complex characters, interesting developments, tension, and emotional touches- which made it really easy to connect with the characters, and completely invest in their story (but, that’s not to say there weren’t a few frustrating moments with them along the way).
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Cat Treadgold!

Yay, I love that we got to have another in this series. As with all the others, this one lived up to the others. We have a strong female character in Maddie. She goes through a lot of challenges. David O’Connell comes home to join his family and meets Maggie. This is one relationship that I enjoyed watching develop and grow. They have chemistry and were able to work through things. We also got to see familiar faces from the previous books. The author does a wonderful job of giving us some complex stories that keep you engaged and reading. When you finish, you want more. In this, I hope there will be more. This is a romance series that I will always recommend because you end up thinking, enjoying and relating to them.

When David O’Connell joins his family in Port Townsend, Washington for his sister Teresa’s wedding, they wonder why their normally outgoing, cheerful brother has become subdued and secretive. He balks at discussing his last four years as a surgeon in Africa or his fiancée Sylvia, who is coming to visit.

Family friend Maddie Leftwood is a serious actress in a sex kitten’s body. The air crackles between David and Maddie from the moment their eyes meet. But over Christmas at the O’Connell Compound, David is fully preoccupied with appeasing his prickly fiancée. David has good reason to tread carefully with Sylvia, but Maddie sees no choice but to move on. She has a leading role at the local theater, where her co-star, local heartthrob Kilo, pours on the charm, drawing her into his web.

David knows Maddie is funny and sweet and nothing like the blonde bombshell she appears to be. Maddie knows David is brilliant and complex and refreshingly different from other men. David and Maddie could be great together, if only they can push the reset button. Still, one giant obstacle remains. In Africa, David’s colleagues called him “the magic man.” They didn’t know the half of it.
