I really enjoyed reading “Love Is What You Bake of It,” by Effie Kammenou! I think what I loved most about it was how realistic the characters were. Life is a mess, and so are the lives of the main characters, Kally and Max. Their stories are full of hurt, struggles, and betrayals, but there’s always still hope. This was such a heartwarming read and I thought the recipes sprinkled throughout the book were great! I’m excited to read more from this author!

Love is What You Bake of it by Effie Kammenou book one of The Meraki Series. The book was so good, I found it hard to put down at times. I really enjoyed following Kally and Max’s story.
Kally is caring and independent. She is very passionate about baking which she shows with how she runs her cafe. She’s also not had such a great past and unfortunately for Max, she lets her past guide her and she doesn’t trust easily. Kally is satisfied in life. She has her friends, family and the cafe. She couldn’t possibly need anything else. Until Max shows up. He is attracted to her from the start but also realizes she doesn’t trust him and maybe won’t ever trust him. Will Max be able to convince Kally to take a chance on him?
My emotions were definitely on a rollercoaster while reading this book. You can’t help but want these characters to be happy. It’s easy to get invested in their lives. I couldn’t help but want to know what would happen next. I couldn’t put it down!

What a delicious way to read a book! Love Is What You Bake of It is written by, Effie Kammenou. This is the first in the Meraki series. This cute little Greek book follows Kally and Max. Kally loves to bake and it shows through her café. She also hasn’t had the best love life and is kind of scorned by it. So what would any baker do but throw herself into her work. Then Max happens. Max is a police officer, who has just moved back to his hometown after a really messy divorce. Along with him, comes a 6 year old daughter named Athena. The moment Max walked into the bakery, there was no question that there was a great deal of attraction between the both of them. However, Kally’s reluctance has put a halt on anything happening between them. That is until Max decides that he wants to prove to her that they would be good together. So what other than baking do you think might happen here? This book really is great and I would definitely recommend it to others. Plus there are special treats in there for everyone! I won’t spill the beans, you will have to read and find out! I know I will be a happy camper the next time I step into my kitchen!

Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1) by Effie Kammenou
This is a wonderful romantic read. I enjoyed the recipes that were put in the book, I can’t wait to try them out. Kally and Max have both been hurt in the past and aren’t in a place where they are looking for a relationship. When Max walks into Kally’s bakery for the first time and they see each other the attraction is off the charts. Max makes the decision that he’s going to go for it but Kally is resistant at first but she does have a soft spot for Max’s daughter Athena. The more time these two spend together their chemistry can be felt jumping off the pages. Kally doesn’t trust people and then a situation happens where Kally feels betrayed by Max, which is mostly because her trust issues leave no room for explanations or mistakes. I really enjoyed how there is more than one love story in this book, we hear about her grandmother and grandfather, and also her own mother and father. The author drew me in with such wonderful characters, and a story written about tragedy, love, hope, family and romance. You must read this if you want to find out what happens between these two. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Love is What You Bake of it (Meraki #1) by Effie Kammenou was a great 5 star read. This was a great start to this series. I was pulled right in from the beginning.
We get an intro to Kally in the prologue where she meets a woman who helps her realize some things. We jump ahead a few years, Kally finally has her own shop regardless of how much her father gripes about it. One day a man walks into her cafe and he comes across very arrogant. But her friend accuses her of always finding the bad in men. I loved her friend.
Kally was hurt very badly so she has some pretty high walls and is not actively looking for a man. However there is something about Max that pulls her in. Will she finally let someone in and get a HEA?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. This greek family reminded me of the movie My Big fat greek wedding. All of the secondary characters were great, the family had me lol at times. We get romance, suspense and so much more. I can’t wait to read more from this series and author. 1-click and get started today.

I could tell from the cover of this book that it would be a cute fun read and boy was i right!! This is such a sweet lighthearted read one you can settle down with on the sofa with a cheeky wine and enjoy every second. I love a story where the character’s really jump of the page and come to lie well this story certainly delivered that! It had a fantastic storyline written beautifully and leaves you wanting more what more can you want…

Another brilliant introduction to an author that I will definitely be reading more from! I loved love is what you bake of it. It had me hooked from the very beginning with the incredible storyline this author has created and wonderful characters that drew me into their story for the entire read. I loved that it was a second chance read and that it has romance and a bit of humour weaved in. I very much enjoyed following these two characters I was rooting for them both and hoping that their pasts won’t get in the way of them getting to a HEA. I can’t wait to read more from this author and what else she brings to this series! I highly recommend this read.

Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1) by Effie Kammenou
5 Stars
This is my first read by this author, I have many of her others on my TBR list and decided to make this one my first, I’m in love with the cover, and in this case you can absolutely judge this book by the cover because it was simply amazing!
I also love when there’s a sweets shop / Bakery in the story, I don’t know why that is such a draw for me but it’s a comforting feeling and you know you’re about to get a sweet awesome story! I love the Greek roots in this story, and Egypt cracked me up!
“Well, isn’t he a bit of an a**,” Kally grumbled “If you mean to say you’d like to bite his a**, I’m with you, girl”
Kally loves her “crazy” yet supportive, loving family, she loves her cafe The Coffee Klatch, and has awesome friends. Her heart has never healed from the pain of losing her first love and then finding out after losing him of the secrets that were revealed and causing her heart to break. She’s content now to never trust like that again! The mystery that was woven into this story grabbed me and made this one of my favorite books of the year..My heart was torn and I had no idea how this story would all play out. Max and his daughter both won my heart pretty quick and I can not wait for more in this series.
And Oh my Lord the recipes that I will be trying, and the addition of the aprons…Perfect!
All of this authors’ books have now moved up substantially on my TBR list!! Grab this..you will not be sorry!

5 Star Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1) by Effie Kammenou Love is What You Bake of it is the first book in The Meraki Series by Effie Kammenou and a wonderfully written second chance romance that I absolutely loved reading. I’ve read several books by this Author and this one is definitely on my favorites list. I absolutely felt like the characters were easily relatable and well developed. There was parts where it literally tugged at my heartstrings and I found myself a bit emotional and other parts I was chuckling. Max and Kally both have trust issues from past relationships. Kally owns a quaint little café called the Coffee Klatch , and she loves to bake, might I add this Author has added several delicious sounding recipe as well. Kally has experienced love and loss and feels as though she’s unworthy that is until Max walked into her life. She was hesitant at first as he was also. Can these two have a future together? Can they learn to trust again? Find out what happens next in this must read book. I can not to read more from this Author .

Love is What You Bake of it is the opening act of Effie Kammenou’s Meraki series. Effie is a new writer for me and I picked up the story after reading the synopsis. It reminded me of some other fun romance books involving baking (and as I love baking so much) so I decided to take a chance on it and … the gamble paid off! AND I absolutely loved, loved, loved the story and my god, the recipes, I cannot wait to start experimenting! They have found their place in my recipe book! Love is What You Bake of it gives us Kally Andarakis, whose first and biggest love is baking at her café, The Coffee Klatch, and Max Vardaxis, a police officer starting over in his hometown with his young daughter Athena. Just close your eyes, picture My Fat Greek Wedding and the feelings you ran gamut when watching it and maybe, just maybe you will be prepared for the mayhem and mischief that Kally and Max are surrounded by! And those aprons (you have to read to get what I mean), I have to see if I could get some like that … I cannot wait what Effie will give us in the second book (I hope we will have more recipes, you can never have enough recipes, right?)

Love is What You Bake of it is the first book in the new Meraki series by Effie Kammenou. I loved reading this story and cannot wait for more in the series. Kally is the main character in this book and you cannot help but fall in love with her. I found her the most relatable character when it comes to feeling unworthy and having someone shatter your heart and making it hard to trust again. Kally runs a café and loves to bake, it’s her passion and it shows in the book. But the comes Max and the more you learn about him the more you come to love him. But can these move past the terrible pasts and find love again? This book will pull you in from the first few pages and it does not let you go even at the end. I found myself wanting more of these characters. I highly recommend this book.

I knew the moment I saw the cover of Love is What You Bake of it and the blurb that I had to read this novel and as soon as possible. I had a lot ahead of it so was biting my nails in anticipation as I finished up another series I was working on. The wait turned out to be worth it though and I felt I had found my favorite read by Effie Kammenou yet. I loved how light and fun this book read and kept me on my toes to find out how things would come to be between these two main characters that I had fallen in love with. This is the tale of a bake and a cop, Kally and Max. The vibe given off was very much like the Big Fat Greek Wedding movies, something I absolutely love and rewatch regularly. I am so here for the next books to come in the series and I can’t wait to see what laughs and tears await me!

Love is what you bake of it is a sweet romance novel by Effie Kammenou. The story follows Kally, an unlucky in love baker who doesn’t feel that she deserves to be loved. When she meets hot policeman Max, she thinks she has met the man of her dreams but is their combined baggage to much for them to be able to make a life together. This book has a wonderful cast of characters including 2 large Greek families and an assortment of friends who all want to have a say in Kally’s life, but her biggest obstacle is herself. I really enjoyed this book, I especially liked all the yummy cakes and was extremely happy to find the recipes for these included! I am hoping that there is another instalment with Egypt’s story soon.

I couldn’t get enough. I even showed my son there were recipe’s in my book and now we have to make some of them! This is the story for Kally and Max, both characters were so well built, I felt like their friend :). Everyone in this book has their time to show personality and I couldn’t put it down. Kally is a pastry chef who wants nothing more in life than her dog Emma and her cafe. Max is a police man who just wants to start over in his hometown. Will these two learn that they need each other, or ruin it with their pasts blocking their future? Read to find out what happens, I promise you won’t be disappointed. If I could give 10 stars this would have gotten them.

Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1) by Effie Kammenou
Pastry chefs have a very special place in my heart, my older daughter is one and I know the work and dedication it takes to be successful. Kally has worked extremely hard to have a successful business and the pride she has in that comes through.
Max is starting over in his hometown. He got my respect early on when I found out a little more about him and as I learned more my respect for him grew. He is definitely the type of guy any parent would be happy to see their daughter bring home.
I believe it’s the little details that add so much to a book and Ms. Kammenou did a great job with the little details about each of the characters and their stories. I really loved learning a little more about the Greek culture and cuisine and I look forward to getting to know the Andarakis family more and watch each of them develop and grow.

Love Is What You Bake Of It is the first book in the Meraki series by Effie Kammanou. Effie Kammenou is a brand new author to me and I’m now wishing that I had discovered her work sooner as I absolutely loved this book. In this book Kallyope (Kally) Andarakis is loving life as the proud owner of coffee shop ‘The Coffee Klatch’. She has a wonderful, supportive, if not a bit overbearing, family who she adores. One thing she doesn’t have is the love of a good man. Having struggled to get over the loss of a man she loved years previously, she has sworn off men. Max Vardaxis has moved back home with his young daughter Athena following the tragic loss of her mother. He wants to start a new life for him and Athena and provide her with some stability in her life. That certainly does not include a woman. Well, that is until he comes face to face with Kally. This is a great romance story that has so much packed into it’s pages. It takes us back to the past to witness events from years ago, not just for Kally and Max but also other family members whose stories are essential to add to the plot of this one. The story is very well written with a great flowing storyline and really great, realistic characters who all add so much to the story. Max and Kally’s story will provide laughs and tears and drag so many emotions from you. As with any true romance, the path does not go smoothly. There are misunderstandings between the 2 and also parts of their pasts that come back to cause problems. I’d definitely recommend that you read this book if you like a good romance novel.

Adorable character, Kally Andarakis sweeps us off our feet as she’s heavily indebted in her cafe business, The Coffee Klatch. Kally never believed she deserved love or the happiness it brings. That is until she meets an addictive stranger who is above her means but he comes with challenges. Kally is heartbroken and ill-trusting after some secrets are revealed during a misadventure. Eight years down line, we find Kally living the life as it is as perfect as she’s always dreamed of. That’s when she meets Max Vardaxis, an unexpected stranger, others bring her life into a tailspin from meddling relatives arguing back and forth to an energized grandma. Kally is also trying to solve the mystery of what happened to her grandfather while balancing Max is a whole other story. In this book we find out if Kally is to take another risk (all for love) or shut it down as she’s done in the past. I enjoyed reading this one. So many unexpected and unpredictable turns. Kally’s life is as unpredictable as ours is in reality. Juicy read. Another page-turner. I may have to re-read it!

I have read quite a few books by this author now and what always has me coming back to her is her beautifully detailed writing. Her stories have such a lovely flow to them that are a real pleasure to read. I didn’t even bother reading the blurb when I decided to read this book; the title caught my eye straight away. Love is What You Bake of it was a wonderful romance read. I loved the characters Kally and Max (aka Officer Hot Buns) they were great to read about and both really relatable. The book kind of reminded me of one of my favourite films with the Greek family parts – there were some very entertaining secondary characters. There were some very funny moments in this story and I absolutely loved every minute of it. I think this is definitely my favourite book by this author so far! I look forward to more from her again in the future!!

Kally has been burnt and hurt by love in the past. She vows never to let anyone get that close again. She has her own home, a successful business in her little cafe selling delicious treats and coffee. What else could she want?
Until the day Max walks into her life. Max has had problems in his past too but no matter how much Kally pushes him away he is drawn to her.
Can they both recover from their pasts and will Kally be able to trust someone with her heart again.
I loved this book. The characters are likeable and relatable. It also brings into it cultural references to Greek families and the way they interact which was nice to learn about.

Love Is What You Bake Of It is the first book in a wonderful new series, “Meraki”, by Effie Kammenou. I really loved Ms. Kammenou’s “Gift Saga”, so it was no question that I was going to read this book. I happily one-clicked a copy for myself and jumped right in. It is different from the Gift Saga stories- in a great way- still the same well written and polished product, and with Greek characters that just jumped off the pages- but with a more light-hearted, humorous and fun story. This story has a lot going on in it, but doesn’t feel ‘heavy’ or overly complicated. It is primarily, a contemporary romance- with interesting and entertaining family dynamics, some suspense, love, humour, hope, mystery, secrets, and of course- baking. Kally has been burned by love in the past, which has tainted her view on love and relationships. She has poured all her time, energy, and passion into pursuing her dreams- focusing on her café perfecting her baking. She’s built a great life for herself and she is happy with where she is in life. Then Max walks into her life, bringing complications she will need to address. Will she let down her barriers and take a chance on love again? Or will her tainted view on love, and the revelation of secrets keep her from opening her heart? I really enjoyed this story. It had a bit of a “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” feel to the story- which I loved, but with its own unique identity. I loved the wonderfully quirky characters who really made this story come to life. There is no question, I will definitely be following the rest of the series! A fun read!

Love Is What You Bake Of It by Effie Kammenou is the first book in the Meraki series. This book is so sweet and heartwarming that it will definitely put a smile on your face. Effie Kammenou really knows how to write a good story. This book is exactly what I would expect from her. It is an interesting story that is well written and engaging. It has loveable, sweet characters that you just have to root for. And it has that something that means you have to keep turning the pages to find out what will happen. This is the perfect book for one of those lazy afternoons, when you can just give yourself over to the story and get lost in the pages! This was a great book and a really lovely story. I would definitely recommend reading it.

This is my first book by this author. I love how deeply we get Into the characters and their lives. The story was great! It easily kept me entertained and really surprised me now and then. The little sayings on the aprons is genius! I liked it at the beginning. But it was carried throughout the story which makes it lovely. I enjoyed each of the characters. There is a lot because…Greek family :). I liked Max a lot. He seems genuine. He has completely changed his life and his devotion (his would not give up attitude) is inspiring.
Overall this is a wonderfully book. I liked the story and the characters. Some more than others. The secondary characters really added to the story. Best Friends can really help make a story come alive and that’s what happened in here.

Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1) By Effie Kammenou 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the story Love is What You Bake of it (The Meraki Series Book 1) by Effie Kammenou. It is a story that pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Kally Andarakis and Max Vardaxis. Kally loves to bake and it is shown by the way she runs her café, The Coffee Klatch. She is independent, strong, and caring. She also has been affected by the past which left her unable to trust. Max is attracted to Kally from the moment that he meets her. He soon can’t stop thinking about her. Kally is satisfied with the love of family and friends. She is content with her life until she meets Max. Will Max convince Kally that he is worth taking a chance on? What does the future hold for Kally and Max? Read this book to find out. This is a story that made my emotions go up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about Kally and Max and couldn’t help but want them to be happy. I also enjoyed the many additional characters that are introduced and interact with Kally and Max. This story is about love, romance, and family. It has some heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments. It had me wondering what was going to happen next. There are also humorous moments that had me laughing. This is an amazing story that I would recommend reading.

Love is What you Bake of it by Effie Kammenou a five-star feast of a read. This is the first novel in the Meraki series and my first by this author, and I will be eager to read the rest of the series as this one did have a couple of dips and undercooked bits, but overall was a nice solid and sweet bake and left a lovely after reading taste. Kally was a great character, I immediately warmed to her and loved her aprons and the café, you could almost smell the coffee beans in the air. The Coffee Klatch just sounded like a great place to be, and Max well he sounded like the kind of man you could be proud of in his amazing uniform, even if he doesn’t feel like people should be proud of him. This was a great story and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into number two to see what flavour that one will be.
