4 out of 5 stars

The Progeny Assassin is the second book of PA Wikoff’s Forgotten Woods series. While I don’t necessarily think you need to read the first book in the series to follow along with this book’s storyline, I enjoyed having read the first book prior.
The Progeny Assassin is one of those books that transports you to another time and place until the story is over. The description in PA Wikoff’s writing is impressive, it’s dark and captivating all at once. The characters in this book are as unique and exciting as is the twisting storyline!
I’ve always considered myself to be someone that wasn’t a fan of fantasy type reads but as of late I’ve really been exploring the genre more.
This book and really the Forgotten Woods series has truly captured my attention. I look forward to reading more from PA Wikoff.

I really missed the Tarnished Lands and I am grateful that I went back in P.A. Wikoff’s book The Progeny Assassin: A Tarnished Lands Story. Wikoff does such an amazing job bringing me right into the story like I never left. His characters are a part of my friends in the sense of my book friends. The world that Wikoff builds is very detailed which makes it easy to picture in my mind’s eye. Wikoff’s character Lara is one of favorite characters. Lara is a feathered-folk who is looking for the breeze that once blew through the forest so long ago. It is Lara’s journey that I went on with her to seek out the truth. It has its ups and downs and twists and turns but never a dull minute within the story. This is a quick read so make sure you have all your goodies by you so that you can read it in one sitting.

The Progeny Assassin: A Tarnished Lands Story is the second book in the Forgotten Woods series from PA Wikoff. Now, I have read the first book in the series, The Harrowed Half-Breed, but this isn’t necessarily a requirement to read this one. I do think it set my understanding up better to enjoy this novel much better. In this one we get more of the dark and tarnished lands that we discovered in book one, and I really enjoyed my time with the MC, Lara. I found myself enjoying her even more so in this book than the last. The vividness that Wikoff painted the Lands was just as fantaboulus and detailed that I felt as if I was right there with her 90% of the time and as creepy as that was at times I loved it too. I really don’t want to get into too much of the details of the story and spoil the good parts for you, so for those you will have to scoop up this little read for yourself. While you are at it grab the first one too! You won’t be disappointed that you did! Thanks for another great installment in this series Mr. Wikoff!

This book can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest reading the first book, a must read series! I love how this author takes me on a magical adventure that is creative and engaging. The characters are creative and they pulled me into their magical world and made me feel as if I was right there with them. Lara has been protecting what is left of the dying land. What will happen when her master turns up missing and she gets the adventure that she wasn’t expecting? A must read!
