After reading House Valdis Origins: Xenobia I knew this was going to be a uniquely addicting series. The blend of science fiction and fantasy in the books makes everything feel new and exciting! From vampires to ghosts to aliens they all have a refreshing twist. Just like the series itself, completely unexpected and unpredictable! Xen is such an entertaining character to get to know and each page just flies by with fast paced action and intrigue! I would highly suggest reading these books in order (starting with the prequel) to understand and fully take in Naomi Valkyrie’s amazing world!

I enjoyed this book. It represents for me a new take on paranormal stories as it is much more than the normal werewolf, vampire or fairy story. Xenobia’s story is so interesting and I found all of the characters equally fascinating. The world created by the author is vibrant and unique. The story had a number of twists and turns and I found myself really interested in how it ended. This is a really good beginning of the series and I look forward to reading the next book.

This is the start of an amazing series. The prequel is a must, before this one if you really want to be able to understand things from the beginning of the book. That said if you haven’t read that, you will still be able to understand what is going on, it will just take a little longer. My suggestion is to read the prequel first and then read this one. You won’t be disappointed. This book is a quick read and sucks you into this amazing world. The vivid imagery is insane in this book. You can actually picture everything and everyone very clearly. I am not a Sci-Fi fan at all but this author makes it easy to read and I actually really enjoyed reading it. The paranormal characters and the twists in the love story help move this book along. You will start it and finish it without even knowing any time has passed. Does the saving a young girl, help the main character with her cause or does it hinder it. That is what I kept asking myself with this book. I love when everything starts to be pieced together. This book I feel ended to quickly but am thankful that there is a continuation that I can read.

Definitely recommend reading the prequel before reading this one. Once you start these books you will find yourself wanting to continue Xenobia’s story. These are quick read books that are fast paced and still build a world that you will find yourself wanting to read more about. I don’t usually like books that switch between character’s point of views but with this book it helps explain the characters and gives even more character development.

It is some years since Xenobia fled her situation and she has a settled life on Earth, albeit she has to use a glamour to hide her origins, but she has her own business and is doing some good on the side, she helps girls by giving them the choice she didn’t have, the opportunity to work as one of her Companions where they will be looked after, fed watered, given a roof over their heads and most importantly, a choice of who they want to work with. One of the girls, Maggie was the catalyst for this decision, when Xenobia found her being beaten, she knew she had to act and now, Maggie is the only one she trusts with her true nature and the darkness within her.

All of it seems to be going well until a potential client enters her office for an interview and as she reads his emotions, she knows something isn’t right, especially when he mentions someone from her past, but regardless, she agrees to help and that is where things get complicated and Xenobia has to make a split second decision which will change her future forever. This new change means that she has to open up to everything she has been avoiding since her arrival seven years before, bringing down her walls and letting people in, however, what she doesn’t expect to happen is discovering a whole new world underneath the one she currently has, but will this new found information help, or hinder her life?

This is a paranormal romance where danger lies around every corner and nothing is quite as it seems as past and present collide to create a maelstrom of emotions, secrets, revelations and love, all while keeping you engrossed in the ties that bind an unusual group of people as they navigate new waters together.

Another wonderful book by a new favorite author of mine, Naomi Valkyrie. I absolutely love her style of writing. Each one of her books draw me in and I have a hard time pulling away to do real life! This one was no different. She does a great job world building and the characters are just amazing. The story was a little slow at first but just wait. It picks up and is very worth your time. I do recommend reading the short prequel but it’s not necessary.

Naomi has to be one of the most creative authors I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Who would think aliens and werewolves would go together? This story has me hooked from the first sentence. Nothing else mattered but finishing this book. Xenobia is such a wonderful being. Her dedication to protecting women who escape slavery and abuse is honorable. This novel has action, romance, friendship, lessons that you can apply to your own life.

Prequel is a must before you read this book. Naomi Valkyrie is like my book goddess no joke. Her mind, her characters, her worlds, stories, just everything is diamond level amazing. This book is told from the perspective of primarily three to four people but has a total of six pov’s by the end of the book.
Xenobia has been on Earth now for seven years, arriving after the events of the prequel with her newly discovered powers. While she has worked hard to learn how to control them an event five years ago caused her to unleash for a moment. Now that issue has returned. Javier is a power-hungry man that will do anything to become a vampire, including forgetting his previous encounter with the true Xenobia and start to send her “messages”. The first is by kidnap of a man’s daughter to “repay” a debt only he is erased when paying it. Luckily, he was able to call Xenobia and she went there to save his daughter and take her in only to heal her in a way she never had before. Giving her blood to the girl to save her life had some risk of powers developing in the girl. Mercy is now alone having lost both of her parents and is now different on a cellular level and now can compel vampires. Detective Matthew Winters is not just a man but a shifter who after a “dream visit” reveals himself to Xenobia and she returns the reveal of herself. Onyx is a vampire that has a very entwined past with Matthew so when he shows up as Javier’s second messenger Matt is thrown for a loop when a painful truth is revealed. Chi is an ancient guardian and feels drawn to Xenobia to support her in the upcoming events with Javier. Xenobia has cut her heart from feeling now she has two men she is drawn to and a growing mountain of stress and threats coming her way.
Who will Xenobia chance her heart with? Can she and her allies beat Javier? How far will he go to get the power he craves? Everything about Xenobia draws you in, how she feels others’ emotions and yet can’t read their minds. She must earn their trust and her theirs to truly understand the private feelings and the meanings behind them. Saving Mercy gave her a blessing in a way she is no longer alone in what she is at least not completely anymore. The twists, turns, growth, evolving and morphing that the story and the characters go through pull you in deeper with every page and I cannot wait for book two, I must know what happens and how it will all end. I’ll meet you there, book two, It Comes from Within.

I’ve read a few books by this author, but this is hands down my favorite so far! I read the prequel, House Valdis Origins: Xenobia, and it was such an amazing teaser that I was chomping at the bit to get to the official start of the series. Once I opened the book, time no longer existed (sorry to my responsibilities) as I was absolutely captivated and read straight through! The story became a movie in my head as the flow of the story was perfection. It also has multiple points of view which is an automatic brownie point for me! Xenobia is a force to be reckoned with, and definitely not someone you want to cross. There are scenes of meditations and dreams that are hard for me to explain, but some of my favorite parts of the book! If you enjoy sci-fi mixed with paranormal, then you will fall in love with this book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

The Rise of House Valdis is my second time reading work from author Naomi Valkyrie. I started with the prequel to this story, House Valdis Origins: Xenobia. While not ‘necessary’ to read the prequel to this book, it was a quick read and I think worth it to really get to know the background of the main character, Xenobia.

I loved the way this story came together. With the descriptions, character developments and getting different points of view of the characters involved, it was so easy to feel the same feelings with them. The pages didn’t stop turning. This story seemed to have a little bit of everything! The author is incredibly imaginative and keeps you locked in until the end. I highly recommend to book lovers who love a strong female lead, where supernatural fantasy meets with sci-fi. It works!

I first discovered this author while reading the anthology Aliens on Earth which is a limited-edition 12 books romance collection (if you haven’t read it yet I highly Recommend going to check it out. You might find a new favorite author or book Series). After reading that story, I just had to check out more from Naomi Valkyrie. Coming upon this story after seeing the cover (which I thought was cool ) I wanted to dive in and read. Which I’m not disappointed in the least. This book was beautifully written and the world and characters the author built are very well detailed and it’s awesome , it helps build a better picture with in your imagination 🥰 i also love the Multiple POVs. I am totally looking forward to reading more from this new but talented author.

The Rise of House Valdis is the first book in The House Valdis Series. It is an urban fantasy, paranormal romance with action, danger, sci-fi elements, superpowers, shifters, vampires, and aliens. The story centers around the MC of Xenobia, an alien, trying to fit in and seem normal. Xen has a heart of gold but will do anything to protect those she loves even if it means exposing her powers and who she really is. She is a character that you find yourself rooting for and feeling a connection with because of her empathy, compassion, and kindness. Make no mistake though, Xen is strong, feisty, and will fiercely protect those she loves. This book had me hooked from the first the few pages due to the author’s unique writing style and great world building. Looking forward to the next book!

As with the prequel to this series, the author definitely knows how to pull you in from the beginning. This book is not what I expected at all. I do like the fact that not only are there two points of view (like the norm), but there are three which is unusual. It does give you the most out of the story and you will be more well-rounded in what’s going on in the story. The characters are very well developed and they do grow throughout the novel.

I really loved this story. After reading the prequel House Valdis Origins: Xenobia I was super excited to dive into this series and boy this story did NOT disappoint. I cannot say enough time and time again the story-telling that this author does is unique and I love how this book totally had me sucked in from the first page to the end. Multiple POVs are used and you really get to know each character and how they are embedded as you turn each page. This book was hard to put down and I cannot wait until I dive into book 2.

Xenobia is a protector and wants to come do right making sure women are safe and not being targeted or abused. When Xen rescue’s a girl named Maggie, this opens up a chain of events that could possibly put her in danger if anyone truly found out what she is. Can Xen keep everyone safe when they need her without exposing to much…

This is a great urban fantasy story and I highly recommend this book. Fantastic Read!

This Sci-Fi Fantasy is intense and will have you hooked with the twists and turns. I love strong leads like this one. Xenobia is enlightened enough to understand and appreciate the fact that she is different than others. Her past experiences taught her to be extra cautious around others, limit the amount of people who know about her abilities and never show her true colors.

I found the introduction of a wolf shifter and vampire quite intriguing and Xenobia’s personal response to them had me chuckling.

I enjoyed learning more about Xenobia’s world and abilities, as well as those belonging to the other supernatural beings. The meditation and dreams sequences were also a bit trippy which I enjoyed.

I hope to read more from this author since I enjoyed the last two titles. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

The Rise of House Valdis is the first book in the House Valdis series. It’s an exciting urban fantasy featuring plenty of action and romance! I’ve enjoyed other books by this author so I knew I was in for a treat with some fascinating characters and LGBT+ romance.

After getting to know Xenobia in the prequel, it was fun to see how her life on earth had developed and learn what she can do with her powers. There are also plenty of new characters to meet – I particularly liked Matthew who we learn a lot about as the story progresses.

There are plenty of threats as Xenobia tries to protect the various characters who’ve ended up under her care. She has some difficult decisions to make as she works out how to keep everyone safe, including deciding who she can trust to help her.

I’d recommend this series to readers who are fans of the author, and anyone who’s looking to get into an urban fantasy with superb world building. This book gets five stars from me!

It’s been seven years since Xenobias best friend, Urd, was murdered right in front of her. In a rage, Xenobia ended up killing everyone involved. She has tried to move on not wanting to be a killer but when she sees women being mistreated, she can’t control her rage. Xenobia is not human. She is an alien from another world. Her true form being blue hair with black hair and black eyes. She also has powers. She can tap into people’s emotions.

When Xenobia witnesses a young woman being abused by two men, Xen loses control and pours guilt into them causing them to end each other’s lives. The woman being in rough shape and unconscious, Xen decides to bring her back home to heal her.

A police officer, named Matthew, shows up with questions for Xenobia. He knows she isn’t what she appears to be and she knows more about the case than she lets on. Xenobia has taken it upon herself to be a healer and mentor to all kinds of different women but only her closest friend knows what she truly is. It may be time that Xenobia shows her true self to save these women once and for all but at what risk?

I loved the prequel that was a novella of Xenobia’s Origin. You do not need to read it to follow along with this book but if you want to know more about Urd and Xenobia’s life, I recommend reading it! Meanwhile, this book was even better. Naomi Valkyrie is an amazing writer. They know how to hook you right from the beginning and keep you hooked throughout the book. This author is quickly raising themselves up to one of my top 3 authors I love!

Xenobia refuses to have a serious relationship with She found Javier beating Maggie five years ago, and Xenobia attacked him. Only Maggie knew that she wasn’t human. Maggie and the girls who were “employed” by Javier left as well. Xenobia had also borrowed some of his money. Despite this being a past issue, Javier has sent Mr. Smith to insist she return the women. Mr. Smith claims Javier has his daughter because of a debt of $100,000. Javier told him that if the girls were returned, then his debt would be excused and his daughter would not be harmed. Xenobia gave Mr. Smith the money, and he set up an exchange. Before he left for the exchange, Mr. Smith told Xenobia that his daughter’s name was Mercy. Something told Xenobia he didn’t think he would survive the exchange.

Xenobia receives a phone call: “Save Mercy.” Xenobia uses her power to keep him alive so he can learn where she is. She felt him die. Xenobia has to hurry to save Mercy. She arrives to find two men raping Mercy, and she intervenes by using her power to make the men commit suicide. Mercy is wounded, and Xenobia takes her back to the brothel house. She realizes that Mercy isn’t going to survive. Xenobia realizes Mercy needs blood. She uses her own to rescue Mercy, despite not knowing if there will be any unintended side effects.

The following day, Detective Matthew Winters questions Xenobia about a body that had her business card. Xenobia denied knowledge of the body. Matthew questions her about Mercy. Xenobia denied knowing her.

Matthew knew that Xenobia was lying. He could smell Mercy and sense Xenobia’s distress when he questioned her. As a wolf shifter, his senses were heightened. There was more about Xenobia that intrigued him as well. Later that evening, Matt falls asleep, and his dream shows Xenobia at the crime scene. Matthew returns to the brothel. He has one question for Xenobia.

“What are you?”

The Rise of House Valdis is a unique fantasy romance story involving Xenobia Valdis, Matthew Winters, and the women they have taken a vow to protect. The vivid details given to the characters display their strengths and insecurities as they face danger from humans and other supernatural creatures. The attraction between Xenobia and Matt is palpable, but they both carry baggage from the past that they have to face before diving into a relationship. The alternating perspectives of the characters made it easy to relate to the inner turmoil they faced. The plot is unpredictable, and the multiple twists kept me fully invested in the book. Readers who enjoy romance novels with magical creatures will enjoy Naomi Valkyrie’s The Rise of House Valdis. This series shows amazing promise to become a favorite for me.

Having read and enjoyed the prequel to this series and been introduced to Xenobia I was looking forward to reading this novel, and I was not disappointed. This was a real page turner with an original and intriguing storyline and great characters all of whom are a bit quirky. Xenobia arrived on Earth seven years ago and was given a new start with only her best friend Maggie knowing who she really is. However, when Maggie is beaten Xen reacts and her split-second decision leads to her true nature being exposed. Xen must choose whether to keep her secrets or decide that her chosen family is worth exposing her secrets for. I liked the multiple POV’s as it meant I felt engaged with all the main characters. I also liked how the story includes LGBTQ relationship dynamics. Whilst the setting is brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative making me feel fully immersed in the story. Can’t wait for book two!

What a great book!
Xenobia (aka Xen) has moves to earth about 7 years ago to escape her past and start over. She however has many secrets and skills that the people on earth do nor have and would be either scared of or try to take advantage her powers so she keeps them her most guarded secret except from her “family” on earth.
Unfortunately one decision may change everything and she may find she has to expose her special powers to save her family.
This book is multi pov and the chapters are quick and the POV changes regularly. Lots of Paranormal activity including wolf vampire and much more and so much attention to detail and character building made this story shine. Well done

What a great book! I couldn’t stop reding Xenobia is such a strong character. Mrs. Valkyrie does a wonderful job of making you feel like you’re there with the characters as the story unfolds. Her style of writing and word choices make it so you have the image in your mind as you read each page excited to see what happens next. Xenobia has left her past in hopes of a new beginning and has found herself in a whole different situation that she wasn’t expecting. There are also many other wonderful and interesting characters in this story that you will love to meet. This book is written in multiple perspectives and I found that to be quite enjoyable. The cover of this book first drew me in. Finding out that it is a paranormal fantasy was a plus because that’s my favourite genre. It has werewolves, vampires and weirdly, aliens, which usually fall under sci-fi. I decided to give it a try and see where it goes. The story has action, love and lots of drama. It shows that this is the author’s debut novel. I feel that in the beginning of the book, the author was unsure in which direction she wanted the story to head in. As you are reading, you feel her get her bearings and the story takes off.

The book is written in multiple points of views which I don’t mind because it allows you to better understand the story as a whole. Unfortunately, the author used too many in this instance. I feel two points would have been enough. I loved how protective Xenobia was over the women that she took into her home. Although Xen has been through a lot herself, it only made her stronger and more understanding. I would have preferred a stronger male lead. This one was confused most of the time, flip flopping between two people.

Overall the story was original and kept me interested. I believe this book has the potential to turn into a very exciting series. I think Ms. Valkyrie did a wonderful job writing her first novel and she’ll only get better. Looking forward to seeing what else she has in store for us.
