First, let me say that I highly recommend the Winemaker’s series by Giovanna Siniscalchi. It is the prelude to this wonderful little story and introduces all the characters and tells the majority of their stories.

The Scent of Snow is another absolutely beautiful historical romance set in Victorian Portugal. Pedro, Anne, and Anne’s family are together to celebrate the winter holidays. All is well until Pedro is haunted by the demons of his past, and he and Anne are forced to face the demons for their relationship to move forward and for them to find their true happiness.

This is an absolutely beautiful and wonderful continuation of Pedro and Anne’s love story, and I know I’ll be looking forward to anything that Giovanna writes in the future!!

Two years after the Count of Almoster Pedro Duan and Anne Maxwell married, it is Christmas time and they are expecting the family to visit, however, it isn’t what she wants, she would rather have snow like there was back in England. Things are not all rosy within their marriage though, she wants something that Pedro does not, and it is causing a dissonance between them, it is the desire for a family of her own, but thanks to Pedro’s past, it is something which terrifies him.

However, one extremely cold winters day, one of the family members goes missing, a young boy and so a search is conducted by the menfolk, while the women try and keep their emotions in check. As all but Pedro return, Anne holds out hope that he will find the young lad unscathed and that both of them will return, so she sets the group to praying for them.

Will Pedro be able to find the missing boy and return safely and how will he combat his own demons who come to the fore while he tries? This is a short historical novella which mixes myth and reality to create a story of love, acceptance and a whole heap of emotional turmoil as you see the true meaning of love and the scent of snow.

I have loved every book by this author, and this is no exception! I really enjoyed the characters from all of the previous books in the series coming together to celebrate Christmas. We follow Anne and Pedro in this installment, and it’s quite a journey with dual points of view. Pedro has some darker wounds he is trying to work on, and Anne is there to try to comfort him as well. It is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions in a short span of time! This author is absolutely one that I will always recommend because they have a stunning way of creating a memorable story that pulls you in and never lets go. Do yourself a favor and give this book a chance to take you away to Portugal in the Victorian Era!

This was a nice peek into Pedro and Anne’s love story. She wants to have Christmas at the Count of Almoster’s estate and invites her friends and family. This puts most of the characters from the series in one book. There is a curse on the bridge that winds itself throughout the story. Anne is also surrounded by babies and pregnant friends and is trying hard to talk Pedro into a baby. Pedro is worried about being a father because of his dark past and instead tries to give her the best Christmas ever. When disaster strikes, Pedro steps up. This was a short novella and I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the culture even more.

The Scent of Snow

I have read every book in the Winemakers series and this novella does not disappoint. I loved how this book brought all the characters together for a Christmas experience. This book takes place in Portugal during the Victorian Era. One thing I have come to expect from Ms. Siniscalchi is amazingly well written books with a fantastic amount of details I love how I feel completely transported back in time while I am reading this. This book is such a fantastic story and I loved the development of the characters. I definitely highly recommend this book and the rest of the winemakers series.

It was a lovely surprise to find Pedro and
Anne’s story continued here!
This can be read as a standalone without reading the 2nd book in the Winemakers series.

Once again, wonderfully written. The characters are brought to life during the holiday season as they experience a bit of turbulance in their relationship. Pedro is at risk of retreating into himself while Anne processes wanting a child but potentially not being given one.
The character development continues in this novella once again both individually as well as together which I love.

A lovely novella, I just wish I had found it around Christmas!

This was an interesting novella. We join Pedro, Anne and their family for Christmas. The couple are on opposites sides of having children. Meanwhile we learn of an old tale regarding the property. I didn’t like this one as much as her other books in the Winemakers series but it was still good.

The Scent of Snow (The Winemakers Series) by Giovanna Siniscalchi. This is such a sweet novella about Pedro & Anne and their love story. Anne wants a baby more than anything and Pedro has scars from his past that he isn’t too sure about starting a family. Set during the holiday season and with snow on the ground a tragedy hits their community and Pedro is pulled even farther into his fears. He become responsible for some children whether he wants to or not and he is having to face his fears. This is such a sweet story about family, fear and failed relationships. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading them in order to know the characters better. I can’t wait to read more in this sweet series.

Lady Ana has found the love of her existence, but alas she wants more than just him by her side. So after seeing her friends with the happiness of family around them, decides it is a fine time to start having some herself. Inviting them to their home for a perfect Christmas she begins the scheme. 

 

Pedro is a ruthless businessman but to his wife is the perfect lamb, full of love and generosity. Now the darkness of his past has come to knock on his door and he is finding it hard to pass the bitterness of the memories attached to it. The only thing he has never wanted is to be a father, for his own was a monster that marked him forever.

 

This romance full of tragedy and light will make you read it in one sitting.

The Scent of Snow was not my favorite book…. it wasn’t bad per say, but not for me. It is an old time romance, but had a very 50 Shades feel to it. The characters and their situation and the storyline all leaned that direction. I didn’t love the wording for the spicy scenes. It’s the first book I read in the series so I was missing some background events, but it wasn’t bad- The author did a good job providing enough information so it didn’t feel lacking. The book had a good ending but I just wasn’t invested with either character, so I likely won’t read more.

This was my first read by Giovanna Siniscalchi and she did not disappoint! This was a well written sweet novella that had all of the feels. Pedro has had issues with some dark areas from his past and he is having a hard time with these all too familiar feelings. He receives news that his father has recently passed away and he is having a hard time accepting what this news means to him and his family. Anne (Pedro’s wife) wants nothing more than a child, but Pedro doesn’t know if he can have a child with her because of personal reasons. All Pedro can do is tell Anne that he doesn’t think it is a good idea for them to have a child yet due to her young age. Pedro is willing to do everything and anything for the woman he loves but giving her the child that she wants just may be Pedro’s breaking point. On top of the issues that Pedro is having with dealing with his father’s death and the persistent Anne wanting a child, he doesn’t know how much more he can handle, and life doesn’t seem to slow down any to allow him to process things. There is so much going on in their lives and they have to try to deal with all of their issues while entertaining their friends who have stopped by for a visit. Pedro and Anne must figure out how to resolve their problems together and keep the love that they have for each other strong This story had all of feels, it had its moments of anger, love, sadness, and joy. I plan on going back and reading the previous books in the series, but I don’t think that you will be one-bit disappointed reading this book as a stand-alone. Pick up a copy and find out for yourselves the rest of Pedro and Anne’s love story!

Easy, peasy happily-ever-afters have never been my go-to as I prefer the romances that gain traction and has a learn as you go feel. This novella definitely captures that spirit! Yes, they fall in love and yes, the book has the holiday vibe all the way. As you can imagine, they love each other dearly but they find that each of them have different wants. On top of this, they realize that they have to deal with their pasts separately before they can grow together. As expected with these type of novels, love wins in the end and it’s truly wrapped up like a perfect holiday present.

The Scent of Snow is part of the Winemakers Series and is a wonderfully written Historical Christmas Romance Novella that I absolutely loved reading. This was the perfect book to read as the weather has been cold and snowy here. I found myself lost in the pages and felt like I was apart of the story. I literally read this in one sitting because I couldn’t stop reading. Let me just say that this author is one of my all time favorites for Historical Romance. She does an amazing job of pulling you into a completely different era and she paints such a vivid picture I can see what she’s describing. This is a heartbreaking yet heartwarming story that had my emotions all over the place. Pedro and Anne show us how love and forgiveness can weather any storm. These are put to the test when a boy comes up missing and secrets are to be revealed. In fear of giving something away im stopping but will say I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Im looking forward to reading more from this amazing author.

Yet again another wonderful read by this very talented author. This novella was so beautifully written that I couldn’t put it down and more to the point I didn’t actually want to!
It was so lovely to be back with Pedro and Anne again! I just loved the connection between them, it really was so genuine and beautiful. You could almost feel the love pouring off the pages at times. I really did feel for Pedro because as much as he loves Anne, he cannot let his past demons go with how he was treated by his father. It was so painful for him that it made him not want to be a father himself.
As with all of the other books in this series, the author does an amazing job of transporting us to Portugal and with all of the rich detail and descriptive language in the story you really do feel like you are there with the characters.
I 100% recommend this read but would also recommend you read Pedro and Anne’s full-length story (The Taste of Light) before reading this wonderful novella.

This was my first read of the series. This was a quick read for me and it was able to be read as a standalone. I will say reading the previous books would have given me more details, but it’s not necessary. I thought this was going to be a clean, Christmas romance, but it’s not. It has some spice which caught me off guard.

This book is a great read. The backstory of the characters and how they change sucks you into the book and keeps you interested and invested.

This book follows the stories of Pedro and Anne. While preparing and trying to enjoy their festive holiday some things start to happen. Anne and Pedro are married but even married couples have arguments and disagreements. The main source of tension for the two comes in the same form that most married couples face children.

When dealing with high emotions and battling feelings who will reign supreme? What happens when a snowstorm keeps people stuck at home? Will old and buried secrets come to light? How much will come to light? Can they overcome past fears and move towards a new future? Find out what happens with these two in this book.

I enjoyed reading this historical romance story. This is an author that I have read in the past which I enjoyed reading but this one just may be my favorite. This is a well written story that takes place during Christmas but will it be that joyfull? Pedro and Daun’s relationship is put to the test during this holiday season. When a missing boy brings out secrets, fears and the true meaning of the season. A story of love and forgiveness and one you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed how these characters pulled me into their world with ease. They are strong, relatable characters that had me coming back for more. I enjoyed the roller coaster of emotions that they took me on throughout. They have great chemistry and attraction which made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced story that had me turning pages to the end. I highly recommend reading this book.

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance with a festive feel which kept me happily turning the pages. Set on the Count of Almoster’s estate, Pedro and Anne Daun from ‘The Winemakers Series’, epic love story continues. I would personally recommend reading the books in this series in order. Although it’s the Christmas season Anne and Pedro both seem to want different things for their future together. Whilst Anne is yearning for a child, Pedro who is scarred from his painful past is guarding his heart against being a father. As the family gather for their festive celebrations, the snow starts to fall and when a young boy gets lost in this snowy wilderness Pedro goes to rescue him, but finds his courage is tested. Pedro is forced to face his fears and find the true meaning of love and forgiveness, but Anne and Pedro’s marriage remains at risk with the couple wanting different futures, but hopefully their love is strong enough. I was once again transported back in time and to the Count of Almoster’s estate, this time in the snow which gave a lovely Christmas feel to the story. The setting was brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative and the added historical details which I’ve come to expect in this series. I loved being back with Anne and Pedro and enjoyed spending the festive period with them!

I really enjoyed this book. I did not read The Taste of Light that this novella has come stemmed from but, I was able to understand the character dynamic and the story easily enough. This story really had me drawn to Anne and Pedro and I will definitely be looking into the Winemakers series. The story of the family being cursed with the bridge is so interesting and I love how it all played into all the goings on at the estate. Pedro definitely has some demons and Anne seems like the brightest light to ever have conquered his darkness, but he is not very good at sharing his turmoil with is bride, he wants to keep her pure, innocent and away from all things bad. I love how he loves her and pushes aside some of his doubts regarding their future and speaks to Anne. Also very spicy!

The Scent of Snow (The Winemakers Series) by Giovanna Siniscalchi is a wonderful historical women’s fiction story – with Christmas wishes, a grumpy/sunshine factor, age gap, sweet & tender touches, spicy scenes, romance, emotion, quirky & complex characters, humour, mysteriousness, and enough drama, challenges, and angst to keep things interesting.
As this follows Anne and Pedro, adding to their story that we read in Book #2- “The Taste of Light” (Book #2 in the series), I highly recommend reading that book before starting on this one as the whole story foundation, character information, backstory, and other important details are found there. Having all that information on board will definitely enhance your reading experience of this story. The whole series is definitely worth reading.
Having met Anne and Pedro before and loving their story, I was excited to see what this novella would hold. Set in Portugal in 1874, we join Anne and Pedro during Christmas. With all the romantic touches I have come to expect from Ms. Siniscalchi, as well as a sprinkle of Christmas magic, and some mysteriousness- she had me flipping the pages to find out what happens. These two have a few ‘bumps’ to traverse- and will Anne get her Christmas wish? Well worth the read to find out.
This is the last book in The Winemakers Series- which would have been sad, except Ms. Siniscalchi has promised a spin-off series, which soothed the sting of this being the finale.
I can’t wait to see where we go from here, and what Ms. Siniscalchi has in store for us in the new series…. bring it on!

I really enjoy the Winemakers Series and this short additional story is no different. The Scent of Snow brings one of my favorite characters in this series back to front and center. I love the storyline and the stories this author tells. The character development is wonderful to behold.
Pedro is back and unfortunately he still feels broken. Having redeemed himself in some light, he still feels broken and unworthy in other light. Which is killing him because it means he’s disappointing his wife Anne.
All Anne desires is her husband’s child, however he refuses to grant her that wish. But he won’t tell her why, just keeps telling her she’s young and they have plenty of time.
It’s Christmas and Pedro and Anne are hosting her family and close friend. As well as Cris, Pedro’s brother, should be returning home as well.
Will Pedro ever feel healed/whole?
Will Anne ever get the child she desires?
It’s hard not to keep writing but I don’t want to spoil everything. Like I said this book is significantly shorter than the others. So there’s only so much one can say without spoiling it.
I will say this, you can read this story on its own; however I suggest you at least read Pedro and Anne’s story first. This is just an addition to that original story.

The conclusion of this series comes to us in the form of this novella. Pedro and Anne have been married for a couple of years now and it’s coming upon the Christmas season. Anne’s family is coming to visit and Pedro is just overjoyed at their arrival (insert mass sarcasm here). Things have been going well for Anne and Pedro except for one thing….Pedro is refusing to give Anne the one thing she wants most. As the family starts to arrive, Pedro receives some unexpected news that will cause a shift in his demeanor and have Anne wondering what could possibly be up with him. Can Christmas be saved and the bridge that is gulfing this couple be mended?

It’s another great historical read and one that still has me a little leery of Pedro. He’s been growing on me since first meeting him in The True Purpose of Vines but I’m still not completely won over by him yet. I’m hoping his and Anne’s story is not done yet and that they will make cameo appearances in future books.

This book can be read as a standalone. I would encourage you to read the entire series in order though so you have a good history of Pedro!
