Oh my word I wasn’t ready for this read ! It ripped my heart out , gave it back just to chew it it up again but don’t worry I’m in one piece 🥰🤣😱🙈

Jamie left everything he loved , his family , friends and fiancé for the airforce but he’s home now thanks to the airforce placement and he’s also attending Noah’s funeral , bigger than that he made a promise to Noah , he gave his life for Jamie’s and that’s a heavy burden

Jamie was lucky to have his mom but his died died at his own hand and having lost my mom the same way , Jamie felt like a kindred spirit to a degree .

Life didn’t stand still for those that stayed behind Blakely is now dating Dean and all is not as it seems but that you need to read for yourself

Blake now has to write a piece of the town golden boy that has died in combat and part of that means an interview with Jamie and the past and present come together in a way that will even make an ice queen break …..these people share history and memories 🥰🥲Blake didn’t have an easy childhood with her mom running off and dad turning to the bottle but she had her friends , her support system until she didn’t ….

My heart broke for Jamie so many times and the burden he’s got to bear … I think of the men and woman that have fought for our freedom and the cost to them and the loved ones …thank you for you service 🙏

There were light moments as well like Jamie’s granny car , “Betty the Buick”did the boys give him a hard time 🤣😱and let’s not forget the starry eyed Kimmie and his first burger in a long time 🤣I think these boys were a handful as youngsters but loved by everyone 🥰

I just want to give a shout-out to Liam …. You’re a honey 🥰ooooo and Ruger you own my heart buddy 🥰🐾

Anyone and everyone was team Jamie/Blake and they deserve their HEA 🥰 and being part of the healing and forgiveness journey has been a special gift 🥰 we all grieve in different ways but it’s easier surrounded by loved ones ….

Very fun first book to read. Main characters are relatable and entertaining to read about and follow throughout the plot. Blakely and Jamie are both strong and independent, but they need each other and the people around them. Heart strings pulled and tons of feelings later, this book is very good and fun to read.

Blakely and Jamie were happy and engaged at one time. Tragedy tore them apart. Jamie has been away serving in the Navy but he is back home trying to honor the wishes of his late friend. When he comes face to face with Blakely again she has a new boyfriend who happens to be the brother of the deceased. There is a lot of mystery surrounding what ended his relationship with Blakely and how his friend ended up passing. Of course any curious person is going to read this book from cover to cover to find out all the secrets that get uncovered. These characters are well rounded and relatable. The author did a great job in bringing these characters to life and giving us, the readers, a great story to immerse ourselves in. Blakely and Jaime’s pain is relatable to anyone that has either lost a friend or had their heart broken. Even though you may shed a tear or two this is definitely worth picking up.

The love connection in this story is so strong and definitely gives you the belief of hope in second chances. Jamie and Blakely fall in love as teenagers in the most uncommon circumstances. As the story takes the reader into flashbacks of their connection, you can feel how intertwined they are and how that vibe is still felt after all these years. Then Jamie leaves their hometown and Blake unexpectedly leaves them both completely devastated and heartbroken. As the years have passed, their strong emotions still linger and are now faced with tragedy. Both are learning to cope and eventually end up learning to cope together. Their connection makes you cheer for them as they learn to reconnect and seek comfort in one another.

This was the first book I had read by this author, but the synopsis sounded interesting, so I took a chance and picked it up. I’m so glad I did because this was an incredible book! The amount of time and effort that was put into not only the plot, but into each character, is evident as no detail was left out. There are no holes in this story and every character feels absolutely real and relatable. It was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me, so brace yourself for the intensity. I can’t believe I had never heard of this author before, but now that I’ve found them I will be looking out for more of their work! I highly recommend giving this a chance if you love a good second chance romance with intense emotions and marvelous characters.

Nicolette Terry is a new author who hit her first book right out of the park! This first book in the Love Ties Us series is amazing, it had me in tears throughout the story. There were so many instances that I felt that I was right there with the group of friends experiencing their trials, their losses, and their heartbreak. What a beautiful gift to be able to write such a realistic romance, that carries such a sad tale of heartbreak, but which was necessary to lead to the rekindling of a second chance at love. The realism of the action in the military scenes just about did me in, they were so realistic with the stories that I’ve heard from veterans. I truly hope that there are such amazing resources that are available as the ones that are mentioned in this book because there are so many who battle the demons of their memories of what people have experienced while serving our amazing nation.

I could not put this book down and am so excited to read more books by this author. I am hoping that she will continue to build stories around all of the other characters within the group of special friends because I am already hooked and invested in their lives and want more. The build-up of each character having such mischievous attitudes makes for some amazing future storylines, that are yet to be explored. This was most definitely a book I’d recommend to anyone who loves a continuing storyline that doesn’t fail to connect, as you’ll see when you read this, the first of this book series. Happy reading everyone, I know I truly enjoyed this new author’s first book and look forward to reading many more by her.

Like reading this was definitely an emotional roller coaster from happy to teary eyed sad.the author really knows how to pull you in then make you feel the heartbreak alongside the MCs. I devoured this book fast just so I could get to their HEA. I can wait to read the rest of the series.

The Story That Ties Us is Book 1 in the Love Ties Us series and I loved this story. Love, loss, grief, pain, second chances, friendship bonds, romance, drama and redemption…this story of Jamie and Blakely was emotional. Just when you believe two twere destined to be together so much can tear them apart. Trying to pick up the pieces and put them back together again bit by bit…this story of Jamie and Blakely was just that….

Jamie and Blakely grew up together and became inseparable since Blakely was the new girl in town. Jamie and his circle of friends welcomed Blakely as one of their own. When Jamie and Blakely develop this love for each other, they feel nothing can tear them apart. When Jamie leaves for the military, he lets Blakely know he will not be coming back home. Having to pick up the pieces of a broken heart, Blakely moves on with her life one day at a time. When tragedy strikes within the friendship circle with one of their own, Jamie has to come back home to where he came from. Blakely wants nothing to do with the boy who broke her heart years ago…but Jamie has never forgotten the girl who he loves. Fighting his inner demons, Jamie tries to stay distant….but when hidden truths come out including past hurts between Jamie and Blakely……will Blakely and Jamie be able to move forward and make amends…..

This is a fantastic story of second chances and forgiveness…..I loved this story….

Nicolette Terry is a first time author for me, but she quickly had me falling in love with her words! The Story That Ties Us is the first book in the Love Ties Us Series. It is a heartfelt, second chance romance full of drama, heartbreak, friendship, and includes the death of a close friend who was killed in combat. This book was so emotionally charged and beautifully written. The world building was spot on; I could feel the fear in Jamie’s heart, the confusion Blakely encounters, and the excitement of all towards the end of the book. The characters are so realistically flawed, believable, and lovable. The life of those serving in the military is discussed while exploring what emotions and feelings they go through upon returning home from deployment. Jamie and Blakely’s chemistry and history is undeniable and oh-so-swoon-worthy. What a great read from Nicolette Terry.

The Story That Ties Us: A Second Chance Romance (Love Ties Us)

Losing anyone seems to put things in perspective but when it’s a close friend yiu have had since childhood it really kicks you in the gut then the rear to try and fix things with people you have hurt or lost touch with.

Jamie broke Blakely’s heart several years ago and it was when she needed him most and he hasn’t seen her since, but that changes when he sees her out in the wild.

Blake’s life wasn’t the worst but could have been better, but Jamie in her life first as friends then they move forward. Her heart is shattered twice is a very short period of time. She moves on and is happy with her job and boyfriend until she sees Jamie again after a long while.

I loved the way the second chance for this couple worked out even with all of the peaks and valleys along the way. I’m excited to keep up with this group of friends and how they find love.

I loved this book! I loved the characters and the conflicts and the military background. This is a second chance romance with alternating point of view chapters/sections. Blakely and Jamie were high school sweethearts until he joined the Air Force, started pulling away, and then broke off their engagement. Blakely moved on, bought a house, has her dream job at the local paper, and is dating again. She is still hurt and doesn’t understand why he left but she thinks her anger will protect her heart from feeling more. Jamie hasn’t been home in years, but he comes back for his friend’s funeral. It was a friend he grew up with, ran into again in the Air Force and became close again, and now Jamie feels responsible for his death. Jamie and Blakely are thrown together over and over and she tries to keep her distance while he tries to not show his true feelings. Jamie is hurting, he is struggling, he is closed off from everyone around him. Being home and around his friends again he starts to heal and hopes to heal the hurt he caused Blakely too.

I loved this emotional and engaging second chance romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. After her first love broke her heart Blakely was determined to have the life she dreamed of. She now has that, a great house, her dream job and the perfect boyfriend. However, when the boy who broke her heart returns Blakely has decisions to make. Jamie never planned to return home when he joined the Air force, but a last request from his best friend results in him returning. This means confronting his past and reconciling with Blakely. To complicate matters, Blakely’s promotion rests on Jamie opening up about their friend’s death. As she sees the darkness Jamie carries and begins to understand his decision to leave her behind, her anger disappears. This leaves Blakely’s heart vulnerable as she finds away to help Jamie’s heart heal from his traumas. The mix of their shared history and Jamie’s demons will either push them further apart or bring them closer together. I loved Blakely and Jamie and their chemistry came across in the story. It was an emotional read at times but an enjoyable one. I was hooked throughout and I look forward to the next book in this new series.

I have never met a more relatable character than Blakley. I too binge watch Greys Anatomy and indulge myself in my favorite DoorDash order when I’m taking a mental day.

I really enjoyed this story. It was extremely realistic. It showed the different aspects of human relationships. We saw grief, love, betrayal and forgiveness. It wasn’t a fairy tale romance but you can feel how deep the love runs. I don’t personally have experience with a loved one seeing the horrors of war, but it seems like the author did a very good job capturing survivors guilt and ptsd.

Overall, this novel is a very good read. There is definitely a lot to take in all at once. The characters are amazing together. I love how the author portrays the backstory of what happened between the main characters as well as the present. The characters have developed a lot throughout the whole story. There are parts of the story that show what the military personnel goes through while on deployment and there is help out there if one does need it.

This book is an emotional second chance romance story about two characters who have to find a way to put the past behind them. From the moment these characters met again, it was obvious they had not left their feelings behind. Even with everything else between them, their connection was undeniable.
With everything focused on the characters, the author created a great story around them. It was easy to read, engaging and lovely to watch the feelings between the characters develop. The whole way through the book I was hoping for their happy ending. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

The Story That Ties Us is the first book in the Love Ties Us series by Nicolette Terry. Being the first book that I have read by Ms. Terry, I really wasn’t sure of what to expect to find between the covers- so I was curious to find out.
This proved to be an emotional contemporary romance with second chances, love, loss, grief, anger, heartache, drama, angst, challenges, hope, redemption, and more.
Blakely had her heart broken by Jamie years ago, and it took her a long time to rebuild her shattered life after him. But just when things seem so perfect, Jamie walks back into her life. And it’s obvious from the outset, that the flame that once burned between them had never fully extinguished. What does fate have in store for these two? If you love contemporary romance, then you really should read all the sweet and heart-strumming details for yourself.
Now, it’s on to Book #2 for me.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Nicolette Terry!
