Before discussing the fourth book, readers make sure you read the books in order. Was a bit confused out of the loop from not having the third book and helps explain parts of the fourth book. This time, Will and Maggie are adjusting to life in the 20th century when they receive a message from Dylan warning them to return to the past or risk changing the outcome of history. The novel takes into the twists and turns of time travel and its consequences. This is such a timeless (no pun intended) topic of time travel, will its effects alter past, present or future, and how to take advantage of traveling without major consequences.

I fell in love with the setting and characters of this novel right away. Matthews definitely has a way of transporting her readers into 16th century Scotland taking us to the story of Maggie. I was honestly also very eager to read this series after reading that it is a time travel fantasy novel filled with romance, family, murder, suspense and so much more. Especially the popularity of the Outlander series, this book will also be the favorite of many other readers out there! Cannot wait to read the next one in this series!

This series was the first I had picked up by author Andrea Matthews, and I fell in love with it. I’m a sucker for time traveling and historical romance, so this was just the perfect pick for me. This was a thrilling adventure as Will and Maggie thought they could finally settle down in the twentieth century only to find that they have to go back to save their current timelines. I won’t give away any spoilers, but I was sure gripping the edge of my seat until the very end! How can Will and Maggie return to the past to help mend the rip in the fabric of time when they no longer have the stone? Will history be forever altered by their inability to jump back, or will they risk their lives trying to fix it all? I love the way the author created this world and these characters with such depth that it all feels so relatable. I highly recommend picking up this entire series if you enjoy historical romances and time travel!

This is a brilliant series and this book is a great addition to it. I really enjoy reading about these characters and the fantastic journey they have been on. Each time I pick up a new book I can’t decide where I think they might end up or which way the story might go. I simply let myself be taken on the ride.
This book I think has to be my favourite so far. The author has done such an amazing job at developing both the story and the characters. The book is well written and thoroughly enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

This is book 4 in this series and now I’m off to read the first 3! I love time travel books and this one kept me locked in. It did take me a few chapters to catch on to who is who and all the connections since I have not read the previous 3 books in the series. Also the language in which it is written slightly threw me off at first but after chapter 2 I had it down. I think this would also be a great audio book to listen to.

Will and Maggie go to the future and have to come back to help Dylan. The question is can they get back? Can they help in the past to keep both worlds from colliding? Can they make it to where the past and future are as it should be?

Wow I was blown away by this series. I couldn’t put it down. I wouldn’t put it down.

Comparable to outlander with traveling back in time heroics and romance! But taking on an entire new thrill of its own. The characters fight to restore the balance and tear is the space of time continuum.

I was on the edge of my seat awaiting the ending and I was not disappointed.

The plot is well maintained and the world building ?! FASCINATING to say the very least. Do you enjoy mystery? Romance ? Historical mixed with present this is the book for you.

This is the fourth installment of the series. Please make sure to read all of the books beforehand, as I missed a book, and got lost for a second and had to go back. It worked for a good catchup though, because it made this book so much better! Will and Maggie are trying to adjust in the future after escaping their death. When they find a past item from Dylan asking for help, they know it can’t be good. They must help fox the rent in time. The only problem is they don’t have a way back yet. They then go into their adventure to make it happen. Dylan also has his own problem in the past. It’s a great story that I had to keep reading to finish!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in this historical time travelling romance series, I was looking forward to this novel and I was not disappointed. I recommend reading the books in order as the storyline continues throughout the series. I was excited to be back with Will and Maggie who are now in the twentieth century and with Dylan who is in the sixteenth century. Dylan gets a message to Will and Maggie asking them to return to the past, in order to mend a rent in the fabric of time, however the couple are at risk of altering events in both centuries if they can not return. Unfortunately they no longer have any stone left in the amulet, and so Dylan is left in the past realising that the threads of time have somehow snapped and torn the very fabric itself.

He knows that getting Will and Maggie back could be the only way to mend it, but hates to ask them to put their lives at risk once again and travel back in time. Meanwhile, another time traveller Richie Carnaby has selective amnesia, as there are many parts of his sixteenth century life that he can’t remember, and Will and Maggie wonder if this is connected. The couple try to find a way of returning to the past to repair the tattered fabric, knowing that if they don’t the threads of time will continue to unravel, altering history. As usual this is a fast paced story with a gripping and engaging plot which had me hooked from start to finish. The descriptive narrative along with the added historical details made me feel as though I had been transported back in time, along with the characters. A real page turner which I recommend.

I really enjoyed this 4th book in the series. The twists and turns kept going, along with the complexities of figuring out time travel and how it affects the future, as well as making changes that could literally destroy a family, affecting multiple generations – it’s a lot to wrap your head around and the author does it very well! I have enjoyed following Will and Maggie and the families they have created, whether blood or not, and working their way through the trials and tribulations of the time. Great series and great author!

With Fire and Sword (Thunder on the Moor, #4)With Fire and Sword by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

With Fire and Sword is the Fourth Book in the Thunder on the Moor Series. It centers around the characters of Will, Maggie and Dylan who are in different centuries. Will and Maggie are settling into their new life in the twentieth century while Dylan remains in the sixteenth century. Dylan realizes that something does not seem right and that the threads of time seem to have snapped. He must find a way to contact Will and Maggie and have them return to the sixteenth century and mend the rip in the fabric of time or it will forever alter the events in both centuries. He sends them a message by leaving a note tucked inside a diary in the hopes that they will find it in their present day. When Will and Maggie stumble onto Dylan’s mysterious note they must find a way to travel back in time and help Dylan.

It is up to Will and Maggie to travel back through time to the sixteenth century and repair the rip in the fabric of time or risk the course of history being forever altered. The problem is that the amulet Will And Maggie used for time travel has no stone left in it. How can they possibly travel back in time to help Dylan without the stone in their amulet? If they could get there, what events are they supposed to correct to mend the fabric of time? Is it worth it to risk their lives by travelling back through time?

I loved this book on time travel and was blown away by the storyline, the characters, and the attention to historical details. The descriptions were so vivid that I felt as though I was there with the characters and experiencing events firsthand as they unfolded. The characters were well written and relatable. I became fully engaged in each of their stories and how they would unfold. I loved that Will and Maggie were reading old diaries and looking through historical records. Having that connection to their past was fascinating to me. This book had action, suspense, danger, mystery, intrigue, and of course, time travel. A great read for anyone interested in historical fiction.

Thunder On The Moor: A Time Travel Romance is the first book in the Thunder on the Moor series. This series is ongoing, and I highly recommend reading it in order. I started with the second book and was so glad to go back and read this one. The story is a fun adventure in time, with 20th-century and 16th-century characters merging into one story. I like the main character Maggie. She is from the 20th century and was raised as an independent spirit with adventure in her heart. When she is taken into the past by her father she discovers that the past is just as exciting as her father had told her.
I really enjoy the glimpse into the past and how many of the same conflicts echo what we see in the current day. I look forward to seeing what adventures Maggie takes us on in the future books in the series.

Shake Loose the Border is the third book in the Thunder On the Moor series. I recommend reading these books in order because it is an ongoing series. This kept me on the edge of my toes, with lots of action and suspense in the story. Set primarily in the sixteenth century, tensions arise as Will and Maggie’s wedding approaches. Maggie is sent back to the twentieth century for safety purposes. Will Maggie and Will be reunited?
As I mentioned, this is packed with action, suspense, and adventure. I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to know how it would end. I already had the fourth book so I knew the story would continue but I had to get some resolution. I look forward to reading the fourth book to see how their story continues.

With Fire and Sword (Thunder on the Moor, #4)With Fire and Sword by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this instalment of this series, Will, Maggie and Dylan return, but they are no longer together, Will and Maggie are in the present and Dylan is in the sixteenth century, but as always on the border, danger is never far away and there is always the risk of attacks and so when things turn bloody, Dylan realises that something is not right and that time is not running as it should. In the present, Will and Maggie are settling into their new lives and Will is realising just how different the two centuries are, so when they decide that they want to connect with those around where they will be living more, they start to open up about their adventures, but there are still surprises in store for the two.

As Will and Maggie spend more and more time together and try to unravel what has been happening since their return, they find a new note in a diary and it puts a swathe of ice cold water down both of their spines, something has happened in the past and Dylan has sent a message through time that they will need to come back to help set things right, but they have no idea how they are going to do it. Meanwhile, Dylan is wracking his brains to figure out how to sort out the mess which has been created around him and as reluctant as he is to bring Will and Maggie back, he knows that it will most likely be the only option, but he has no way of doing it.

This is where a significant part of their joint past comes to try and help in the form of Ritchie Carnaby, a friend of the family who has inadvertently himself managed to find a way to the future for himself and his family, but there are gaps in his memory of events which should be significant, but is it because of the time travel, or is it something to do with the note that Dylan left them and will they be able to find a way to restore the timeline before the future is irrevocably changed? This is another fast paced adventure, where time is of the essence in more ways that one and finding a way to travel back through the centuries seems impossible, will they be able to overcome their adverse challenges and set everything right while staying out of the constant danger which surrounds them, the only way is to follow on with this addictive and engrossing part of this series.

This is the 4th book in The Thunder On The Moors series. I really recommend reading these books in order as the story continues through them and you would miss out on a lot of the characters backstories and history which may make it a bit of a confusing read.

This is a historical time travelling romance. I love the author’s attention to details in the time period and the descriptions and writing reflect that period which makes you feel like you are experiencing it first hand. Being a historical story there is a lot of adventure and danger as the rival clans are constantly at war with one another.
Will and Maggie have finally escaped back to the twentieth century. After everything they have been through they feel they could finally be together and be safe. However that isn’t the case. When Dylan finds a problem in the fabric of time he finds a way to contact Will and Maggie to tell them they need to return as them not doing so would change both time periods and it wouldn’t be for the better.

There are several problems though. 1stly the amulet they use to travel is out of stone so it doesn’t work anymore, 2nd they don’t know what exactly they need to do to fix the fabric of time and save both time periods and finally what will happen if they return. The whole reason they left was because it wasn’t safe for them so will returning prove to be a huge mistake?

The author’s writing is amazing and as a reader you feel transported in time, following the characters as they try to find the balance between doing what’s right and finally having their happy ever after.

The author’s attention to details really makes you feel like you are back in 16th Century in the Scottish borders. I loved this even more as that’s where I currently live so it was nice to imagine going back to that time period.

Overall the story is fast paced and engaging. You won’t be able to put it down until you find out if Maggie and Will can fix the tear in the fabric of time.

With Fire and Sword is the fourth book in the Thunder on the Moor time travel romance series. It’s set in the Borders between Scotland and England, with the storyline moving between the 16th Century and modern world. I’d recommend reading this series in order – With Fire and Sword throws you straight into the middle of the action so you’ll need the rest of the series to understand what’s going on!

This is a fun story for anyone with an interest in historical fiction and research. I particularly enjoy the bits where Will and Maggie, helped by Rev Edward, are going through historical records and tombstones to try to figure out what happened in the time they left behind.

There’s plenty going on – action, adventure and a bit of magic as well as the romance! It’s a real page-turner as you jump between time periods and have to wait to find out what’s going to happen.

This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend the series (read from the start!) to fans of historical and time travel romances.

With Fire and Sword (Thunder On The Moor Book 4) by Andrea Matthews
Genre – Historical Romance

Cover Designer – Jenny Quinlan at Historical Fiction Book Covers

Will and Maggie are just settling into the twentieth century when a note, discovered hidden in an old diary, turns their new world upside down. The message is from Dylan, and it urges them to return to the past to mend a rent in the fabric of time or risk altering events in both centuries. and not for the better. There are only two problems. First, they no longer have any stone left in the amulet, and second, even if they could somehow locate a new stone, what is it they need to change?

Richie Carnaby may have the answer to that question. Though he’s traveled through time himself, there are events from his sixteenth-century past he can’t recall, things that he should be able to. Could his selective amnesia mean that these occurrences remain unsettled, having turned on a course not set by destiny? But even if they are, what are Will and Maggie to do about it?

Back in the sixteenth century, Dylan is facing his own dilemma. Realizing almost at once that the threads of time have snapped and torn the very fabric itself, he is afraid the only way to mend the rent is to summon Will and Maggie back as soon as possible, but how? The stone has surely disintegrated, and even if a bit does remain, he hesitates to ask them to return and put their lives in jeopardy once again. Unless he does, however, the damage will remain undone, setting events on a course that was never meant to be. Can Will and Maggie find their way back to the sixteenth century and repair the tattered fabric, or will the threads of time continue to unravel throughout the centuries, altering history as they know it.
