This book had everything you’d want out of a romance book! Second chance lovers and a love triangle! Yes, please! It was full of drama and passion, and I couldn’t put it down. The characters are relatable, and the writing had great detail. The ending left off perfectly for the next book, and I can’t wait for it!

What a fantastic, emotional second chance romance!!!

Mavis and Josh were high school sweethearts who had a wonderful future planned together, that is until an unplanned pregnancy upended all those dreams. Mavis made a choice she thought would be best for all of them, but as it turned out, it wasn’t good for anyone. Josh went on to attain his dreams, but his heart never healed from the loss of Mavis and the questions left unanswered in the wake of her leaving him. Now, ten years later the past will collide with the future and that secret along with another bombshell will come to light, and the broken pieces of their hearts may never be put back together again.

I was hooked from the very first page, and I have truly been in a reading slump, and Julie Navickas got me out of it!!!! I was in love with most of the characters, especially the main three…Josh, his brother, Austin, and Mavis. They were far, far from perfect, but their imperfections are what made me love them. Their relationships were messy and complicated but full of love and forgiveness.

While this book does involve a love triangle, it is done so differently and so realistically. I could actually see why Mavis fell in love with both brothers, and she loved them in very different ways. Yes, she does make a choice! I believe that the flashes to the past clearly show the close relationship both Josh and Austin had with her and their genuine love for her.

Navickas is a phenomenal storyteller. She completely wrapped me up in the story and had me totally invested in her characters. On top of that, her writing is fantastic, almost lyrical! Can’t wait to see what happens in the next two books!

This is a second chance romance between a small group of friends that began in high school. Josh & Mavis have history and a love that can’t be quenched. Things take a turn when Mavis forms a relationship with Josh’s twin brother, Austin. Once Josh’s divorce is final, he decides to fight for his true love Mavis which unravels drama, secrets, and heartbreak. This book was cute and clean. I would’ve liked more depth to Josh & Mavis, but overall this is a sweet romance.

Secrets and a love triangle
I loved you yesterday is an intriguing contemporary romance with twists and turns as long buried secrets had a way of surfacing. With angst, drama, emotional heartache and betrayal this book unfolds in a realistic way. This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed the writing. The characters are very well developed and easy to connect with. I am happy to see there is another book coming.

I enjoyed this second chance romance story. This is the first book in this series and what a great start it is. I look forward to reading the next book in the future. This is a well written story about Mavis and her love for two brothers. One broke her heart and the other picked up the broken pieces. I enjoyed how these characters were able to pull me into the story from the start. They are engaging, creative characters that bring life to the story. They have great growth and their chemistry made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced story that is not only entertaining but had me coming back for more. I really enjoyed reading this book and what a great story. You don’t want to miss what happens with Mavis and her story with twin brothers. I highly recommend this book.

I Loved You Yesterday was the first book in a trilogy and it was difficult to put down. The story follows a love triangle that started back in high school and after years apart, it starts back up again. Mavis finds herself caught between twin brothers, Josh and Austin. Josh was her high school love, but happily ever after didn’t involve sleeping with his brother and getting pregnant. How could she admit the truth and break his heart? Instead, she finds herself running away. Years later with both brothers back in her life, the past catches up fast. Lessons are learned, secrets exposed, and choices have to be made.
This is a great book with good character development. You find yourself lost in this love story. laughing with the characters at some times, and heart breaking with them at others. This story is well written and has you frustrated with the characters for some of their choices, while at the same time feeling for them and understanding their struggles. I enjoyed every minute and am glad it is a trilogy because I am not ready for the story to end. I would definitely recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the rest of them.

I Loved You Yesterday is a really sweet story about second chances. It’s full of guilt, drunken bad decisions, love and friendship. Josh is a total push over who should have more respect for himself… but he is also very loving and forgiving which was sweet. The reason Mavis left was not much of a shock, I saw it coming. However, I didn’t expect all the other stuff that came AFTER her leaving. The end of the epilogue, I also kind of expected and secretly hoped for… maybe Austin will take that position at the Chicago office after all. I want a story about Lauren and Mitch too, here’s to hoping! Although the book was much of what I expected, I still really enjoyed it. It is a sweet book, full of some shock, and I recommend it to those who enjoy romantic novels.

I Loved You Yesterday: Book One in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy

I haven’t read a book in a day in a bit, still haven’t done it but this was pretty close. Had an extremely hard time putting it down and thankfully the football game on locally was my time so I didn’t have to try and split my time.

What a great way to start a series. We got to meet some great people and one not.  As interesting as the other main characters are, there is something about Mitch calling to me and I’m looking forward to getting answers. Casey is a girl after my heart and her love of the Cubs.

Josh, Austin, Lauren, Mavis and Mitch are all childhood friends with a lot of history between them and some very deep secrets.  Even after ten years their friendship endured the silence.

I truly enjoyed this book, the characters and the ending.   Looking forward to follow the next couple.

This book sucked me in immediately. The need to know what happened between the Duchess and Josh was overwhelming. I guessed the reason she left and I guessed why Austin seemed to have odd behavior. However, after everything was revealed about was still shocked at Austin’s behavior. I also felt like Josh forgave everyone unrealistically fast. I’m not even sure how he forgave any of the parties involved in hurting him. But he did and it made him a better man, he still wound up with the love of his life and by the end of the book everyone was happy. The book was written well, it gave me all the feels and emotions I look for in a good romance story. It ended on a good cliff hanger and I can’t wait to read book #2.

Captivating love story—couldn’t put down!

Book 1 in the trading places trilogy was phenomenal!! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! Beautiful love story depicting a second chance at true love, leaving the reader hoping for happily, ever after! Full of emotions at every turn! Great read—I CAN NOT wait to dive into book 2!

Mavis & Josh were high school sweethearts—head over heels in love, until one day Mavis just walks away without a word or explanation to a devastated Josh. Josh had big dreams of becoming a doctor and when Mavis found out she was pregnant with his child, she thought it best if he didn’t know and could live out his dreams. Fast forward several years—Josh is currently getting divorced and is looking to find Mavis, as he realizes that he has always loved her and wants to know where she is, what she is doing & if she ever married or if there is someone special in her life. Imagine Josh’s surprise, when he finds out that his twin brother had always known where Mavis is. When the two of them finally reconnect, there is a lot of secrets revealed and hard truths that each need to face, before they can move past the past and obtain their happily, ever, after ♥️

From the first few pages of this book I knew I would love this book! The first in the series always sets the tone for what else is to come, and this one proved the same, also ending with the perfect setup for the second book in the series.

I loved how the author first introduces us to Josh, giving us an inside look at how his life has been for him all of these years since last seeing Maeve. I fell in love with both him and Maeve early on in the book, and throughout the love triangle between him and Maeve and Austin, I was cheering for him to be the lucky guy that Maeve chooses. I can’t wait to see where the trilogy goes and am excited to read more!

While I generally enjoy second chance romances, something was lacking for me with the characters in this story. We meet Josh and Mavis, high school sweethearts with future plans until Mavis unexpectedly leaves to protect Josh’s future. In her years away, she reconnects with Josh’s twin, Austin where these two form a relationship. Mavis eventually returns home to mend ways with Josh, Austin and her brother which leads to emotional breakthroughs. I found myself drawn more towards the storyline of Mitch and Lauren. While the storyline is enjoyable, my intrigue for the main characters was just not there and I found Mavis selfish in her decisions.

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I love a good second chance romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book to the trading heartbeats series. I was hooked on the first chapter. I could not help but to fall in love with these characters. It only took me a few Josie to devour this amazing story.

Mavis and Josh were inseparable when they were teens. They knew they were in love but something happens and they are torn apart for years. Mavis is living her new life in Chicago. She wants to move on but Josh comes back to love her once more. Mavis left her old life for a reason but she can’t help the feelings she feels. Will Mavis get what she wants or will the past come back to bite her in the end?

What an incredibly heartwarming, beautiful, and slightly messy love story! I was immediately drawn to this book from the title– the idea of loving someone in the past, and then coming back to fight for that love really pulled me in and the author did not disappoint! The author added layers of detail that both enhanced the story and added to the characters. I felt that the characters were relatable, complex, and engaging- as I read, I NEEDED to know what would happen to them next. I am looking forward to the next book following this juicy love triangle.

I’m normally adept at guessing endings which makes me lose interest in the book but this one kept me going. Loved the love triangle with the twin brothers – made it all the more interesting. The characters were well developed and came to life on the pages. i really loved this read.

When Mavis ups and leaves her high school boyfriend, family, and friends…she fully intends on leaving the past there and move on somewhere else. She leaves a note for Josh and confides her secrets to Austin (Josh’s twin brother). Austin keeps that secret for 10 years. However, as Josh is going through a divorce, he stumbles upon the note left all those years ago and wants to find Mavis. When he finds out the truth, will he still believe he loves her? Is Mavis ready for the slap of reality when her past shows up? How will she be able to choose between them?

Mavis, Josh, and Austin are all characters that feel so real! This story really pulled me in and held me hostage from beginning to end. I could almost feel the struggle between having to choose between the one you loved and the one you don’t want to hurt. Overall, a good story!

I Loved You Yesterday was beautiful, sweet, and heartbreaking. I loved it and I can’t wait to read the next one. A second chance romance as well as a love triangle to boot. The author weaved a web that could’ve left all the characters destroyed, but that’s not what happened.
Mavis and Joshua high school sweethearts. The love of each other’s lives. Well that was till Mavis disappeared only leaving a letter in her wake. Devastating Joshua, her brother Mitch and the rest of their friend group. 10 years have now gone by and Joshua wants to go after the one who got away, despite the feelings of others. He has no clue where to start besides a magazine story, till his twin brother drops a bombshell. He knows where she is.
Austin has kept Mavis’s whereabouts a secret and had every intention of doing so despite his better judgement. Mavis came to Austin in a time of need and support, not long after she disappeared. Austin became her comfort and secret keeper over the last 10 years. Little did she realize what that was doing to them.
Stuck between two brothers, how does one decide their feelings?
How will Mavis navigate the reemergence of Joshua in her life?
What will that mean for Austin?
The author keeps you on the edge of your seat to get to those answers. This book was well put together and though I could sometimes guess what was coming next. The author presented those scenarios in unexpected ways. Which I thoroughly enjoyed. I feel like anyone who gives this book a shot won’t want to put it down till they are done!

I really enjoyed this read, Mavis and Josh are high school sweethearts, until a secret causes Mavis to flee town. She ends up confiding in Austin, Josh’s brother before leaving. It’s 10 years later and Josh is finalizing his divorce, when something resurfaces and makes him think about Mavis again. What made her leave him? What would happen if he found her now?

When Mavis gets a text from Austin it sends her spiraling. Josh wants her back but that’s not her only problem. What will happen when he learns the truth? Will he still want her back?

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. I Loved You Yesterday is the first book in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy. It’s a great read and I loved every minute of it. You’ll have a hard time putting it down.

Josh followed his dream although he did it without the girl by his side. She just up and left one day without a word to him. Now he’s divorced and wants answers on why she left him. The quote I chose for Josh is: “She did. And I know it sounds crazy, but I just can’t shake this feeling that I’m meant to find her again.”

Mavis left behind her entire life just so Josh could have his dreams. If she stayed he wouldn’t have done anything about his career. Will she be happy when she sees him again? The quote I chose for Mavis is: “Don’t. I’m umm, just sorry to see you experience it. The pain is just… Nothing you can really describe.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

This story is absolutely amazing. Years ago, Mavis walked away from everyone she loved and possibly the love of her life leaving only a simple note. Now the past is coming crashing down around her and she doesn’t know what to decide. Josh Templeton is completing a divorce from the woman he thought he loved. However, her parting words to him implied that he was never in love with her because he was still in love with another. Austin, Josh’s twin brother sees what is about to happen and the only way to prevent it is to face it heads on. Reeling from his divorce, Josh finds the letter that was left to him by his high school love. In his mind, he is still in love with her and must find her. What he doesn’t know is that when she left she was pregnant and in love with his twin brother. As Josh sets out to find Mavis, she is nowhere near prepared for what is ahead. Who does she love is it Josh Templeton or is it his brother Austin? Mavis had always hoped that the past would stay in the past, but the past can’t stay secret forever.
This book was sooooo good! I didn’t want to put it down as I was reading about Josh, Mavis, and Austin. I didn’t know what was going to happen but I also found myself unsure of what I hoped would happen. This was well written with very well developed characters!

This is a heartwarming and at times heartbreaking contemporary romance, with a love triangle and a second chance at love theme. Mavis Benson made a huge mistake when she had sex with her high school sweetheart’s twin brother, but she hadn’t expected to fall in love with him. Mavis definitely didn’t expect to then find herself with an unplanned pregnancy at seventeen either, but to save her boyfriend, Josh from the fallout she left town. All Josh Templeton received was a letter of apology, from Mavis, before she disappeared, however, she did confide her secret to Josh’s brother, Austin.
When Austin comes back into her life years later, she can’t help but be confronted by her past. Not only does Josh want Mavis back, but so does Austin, and for Mavis she just feels caught between the two men. One of whom she ended up with a broken heart over and the other, who helped her pick up the pieces. One thing is certain though, and that, is that secrets always have a way of coming out. This was a page turner of a read, with some wonderfully detailed characters, and I felt completely immersed in their world and engaged with them. I felt for both Mavis, and Josh and Austin, and wanted them all to have a HEA. I’m looking forward to book two in this trilogy, and definitely recommend reading this first instalment.

I can’t say for sure how I really felt about this book but not in a bad way. It was great, I loved the concept. I can’t even fathom being in love with a twin let alone having a relationship with both! I had a hard time putting this down. Finished it quickly because I needed to know what happened. This definitely felt very realistic, or what I would envision reconnecting with someone you love(d) that deeply. Mavis left Josh ten years ago. She had a secret and didn’t want to ruin his dream but ended up ruining him anyway. It really bothered me that she left everyone like that. I do get it though. I think what bothered me was the fact that after she is reunited things seemed to move almost too fast. But I wouldn’t know how I’d feel if it were me. I NEED Austin’s book though. I truly feel like he deserves so much happiness. It’s tough being the loser in the triangle.

This was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work but I will definitely be reading more. In particular, the remaining books in this trilogy. It’s always a risk taking the plunge and trying a new author but I’d never have discovered any of my favourite authors if I hadn’t taken that initial plunge. This is one time that I’m glad I gave a new author to myself a try as I really enjoyed this book. The blurb had me very intrigued and the book lived up to my hopes.
Dr Josh Templeton has never forgotten his first love Mavis Benson who disappeared from his life with only a letter saying not to contact her. When they get in touch 10 years later we get a fantastic story of love and betrayal.
Josh I adored as a character. He’s loving and sweet and I’d love a Josh in my life. Mavis I loved most of the time but there were times I really wanted to kick her butt.
This book has the added bonus of a great cast of secondary characters who add so much to the story. I’m assuming we will see a lot of more of these in the 2 remaining books in the trilogy and I really look forward to reading them.

I Loved You Yesterday (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 1) by Julie Navickas

I Loved You Yesterday is the first book in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy and is a heart-warming Contemporary Romance that is packed with, love, drama, secrets and second chances. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely a fan already. I loved reading this fast paced story that definitely had my emotions all over the place. Secrets always have a way of coming out and sometimes we like or even understand but can love conquer all? I was pulled in from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down till I finished. Mavis and Josh were high school sweethearts but one huge secret has Mavis leaving not only town but Josh with a shattered heart. Years later he finds himself divorced and still in love with the one who left a decade ago. These characters are relatable and fully developed and make this story come to life. Can forgiveness be enough for these two? What will happen when the secrets are out? I don’t want to give away to much but I do highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this Trilogy.
