Dark is the Wood by Kristin Ward was such a good book! I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers trope- normally not my fav but I thought it was well delivered and written here. I was insanely frustrated with Marius- how hard it was for him to see the selfish monster he had become over the centuries. Really loved the resolution at the end and the HEA that I wasn’t sure was going to happen. Very well written and enjoyable to read. Had a hard time putting it down.

An Ember of Hope: War of Destiny by Theresa Van Spankeren

An Ember of Hope: War of DestinyAn Ember of Hope: War of Destiny by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An Ember of Hope: War of Destiny was a good read. I did have a hard time staying with it, but I think that’s because there really isn’t much dialogue for a good portion of the book. It makes sense for the story, it was just a harder read to get into than I thought it was going to be. The story is unique and I really did like the book overall. The last half of the book picks up and the last quarter I really enjoyed.

This is a side book following the events of the 2nd book in the series. It almost seemed like two different writers. The POV were from two completely different people, but I enjoyed the 2nd book more than this one.

The Uncrowned King by Ayla Marie – review by kat Mellon

The Uncrowned King (The Blood Prince, #2)The Uncrowned King by Ayla Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Uncrowned King was SOO INCREDIBLE! I finished the Blood Prince and immediately dove into the Uncrowned King, and it only got better. I could not stop reading. The world building is just as great in the 2nd as the first, the characters are just as loveable or hateable. The hateable ones? Yeah. REALLY hate them. So much passion and emotion in this book, I was literally in tears at the end. I cannot wait for the next one! Great job by Ayla Marie! Will definitely be on the lookout for more from her!

The Blood Prince by Ayla Marie – review by kat Mellon

The Blood PrinceThe Blood Prince by Ayla Marie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED the Blood Prince by Ayla Marie! The majority of the book is from Leo’s POV as he struggles to keep his family safe in a world where none of them are wanted or allowed to be. The very first chapter hooks you in and is a page turner. The world building is great and the characters pull you in. I dove into the second book literally as soon as I finished the first. Cannot wait for the next! 10/10, would definitely recommend and will be reading it again!
