This is book one in the Mixed Emotions Series, and it can be read as a standalone. Sophie is an actress who has fallen in love with her co-star Gil. They start dating even though Gil has commitment issues. Sophie decides to take a break from acting and publicity and go home with Gil to his parents farm in the mountains. While there Sophie finds herself and is ready to make some major changes in her life, even if that means leaving Gil behind. This was a lovey story of a woman finding herself and not giving up on making herself happy, with or without the guy.
This is the first book in a new series and also the first book I have read by Katy Hunter. It is a sweet romance story that flows nicely but it is just that a sweet romance, theres no steaminess whoch i love in a book. Its about a couple who take a break to work on themselves to then see if they should end up back together happily ever after or go their separate ways.
(Un)loved is Book One of 2 in the Mixed Emotions Series. In it we are introduced to Gil, an actor, and Sophie, an actress. They have worked on many movies sets together and spent time off-set together as friends, but their relationship has always been platonic. When they discover they have a mutual attraction to one another they decide to take their relationship to the next level.
When Gil invites Sophie to go to France with him to meet his parents she is thrilled. However, when she gets to the French countryside, she quickly must learn how to go from city girl to country girl as she is thrown into helping on the family farm. Sophie finds herself introduced to a cranky llama, sexually liberated parents, and goats that put the run on her. As if that isn’t enough, she doesn’t know where she stands in her relationship with Gil. She’s madly in love with him but he’s afraid of commitment. Then along comes Gil’s drop dead gorgeous ex-girlfriend which complicates things even farther. Will Gil ever be able to show Sophie his true feelings?
I loved the author’s writing style and often found myself chuckling out loud at some of the things Sophie said. Despite being a city girl and an actress Sophie is not stuck up. She is down to earth, funny, and genuine. She truly loves those around her. Gil is a nice guy but who has been burned by bad relationships in the past. Throughout the book I found myself hoping that Sophie would be the girl with the key to unlock Gil’s heart.

Wow! Its been a long time since I have read a book where I find myself yelling at the pages waiting for a certain part of the plot! Sophie, G they are real characters we all know in real life and this book brings all of our emotions to the surface! I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
This is such a cute and adorable romance story. Gil and Sophie are the main characters and the story that unfolds is such a sweet one. The author’s writing style is so smooth and funny. She writes very detailed. You can easily connect enough to form mental imagery of the scenarios. Gil and Sophie’s romance makes me think of me and my husband. I was NOT looking for love and then he just showed up and we are best friends. I just really loved this story and the way the author captivated the budding romance.
This is the first book in the series and is 209 pages in length. This story follows Gil and Sophie. I must admit, I did kind of like Gil’s family LOL. These two just finished working on a movie together and Sophie is in desperate need of some R&R. Gil suggests going with his family to their farm in France. Gil seems to have commitment issues and Sophie is going to try to rectify that. But that Llama though!
This was such a fun and quirky book, I loved it so much! G and Shee are so cute and perfect for each other. Sophie is more than what first meets the eye and I love how she finds herself with the help of Gil. I also really love Tornado. He has to be my favorite out of everyone. So fun!
I really enjoyed this read, it was fun and I liked the characters. I loved the way the author had written the book as well, it made it a little more engaging and definitely felt like I was reading someone’s journal. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments in the book – it was really entertaining. I did really like Sophie, her inner thoughts definitely made me laugh and I did feel like I really got to know her. This is the first book that I have ready by this author and I can definitely say it won’t be the last. I would highly recommend this book – it is a fun, romantic read that will certainly have you laughing out loud.

(UN)Loved is the first book in the Mixed Emotions Series. This is a cute romance that pulled me in from the beginning and I had a hard time putting it down. This is a new to me author that I will definitely be checking out what other books she has written. The characters are fun and relatable and the storyline flowed so well I felt like apart of the story. This is a story about Sophie and Gil, both are movie stars and they were leading roles in a movie they just finished filming . Sophie finds herself wanting more but does Gil have commitment issues? These two have crazy chemistry between them on and off the set. Sophie is invited to go with him to France for a visit with his family. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
4/5 Stars This is my first read by this author and this book was fun! Two actors who start off as just costars, but what happens when love gets involved? Sophie didn’t plan on falling for Gil, it just happened. Will he return her love? Or friend zone her to keep things professional? This book was a fun read, but I do wish there was a little more drama to it, especially involving Emily. Good read!
Gil and Sophie just finished wrapping up their movie. These two have amazing chemistry on and off the set. Sophie is used to being alone and Gil is afraid of commitment. There are a lot of obstacles in the way of these two while trying to see if a relationship is what they want. There are a lot of great characters in this book. I loved Gil’s family and even some of the animals. There is good character growth in this story for both Sophie and Gil. Will Sophie decide what she wants to do? Will Gil work out his commitment issues? This story had funny moments, romance, twists and turns and was written in such a way that I was pulled right in. The author kept me entertained throughout the entire story. I enjoyed this author’s writing style. I recommend reading this story.
This book was a very cute read. This is my first book—to my knowledge—by Katy Hunter. But she is definitely one I will read again based on this book. Sofie and Gil. What can I say about this book? The connection is present from the beginning. This book has very realistic themes and it was a nice change for the high fantasy kick that I have been on. I loved seeing them together and how they progressed in their relationship. If you are looking for a cute realistic read this is definitely one you need to read.
Love this book! The story was perfectly imperfect. The characters were real and full of life. Sophie seems to have it all or is all she has not what she wants. Guillaume is her costar and gorgeous. The attraction is there, but would they give in. Are they even headed in the same direction? I can’t wait to read the book!
🌟🌟🌟🌟 This was a fun read and quite enjoyable. I really loved the characters of Sophie and Gil…and their connection, first as friends….then turns quickly into something more. Gil decides to take Sophie home to France to meet his family and here the story takes off. Both Sophie and Gil have some underlying issues personally, but I found that these were easy to truly connect myself with the characters. With Gil’s hesitation to commitment what will happen with Gil and Sophie? Read and find out….I dont want to give away any spoilers….true fun read. I must say though I LOVED Gil’s family 🙂
This book brought out so many emotions that I couldn’t even wrap my mind around all of them. Sophie seems like such a shy girl at first but she’s beautiful, smart, and funny. G is tall, handsome, and smart and you root for them to be together the whole time. But when they get together so many problems and drama ensue. The real question is can Sophie and G conquer the problems and drama or will it rip them apart? Full of great characters, fantastic writing and more trust me when I say that you won’t be disappointed when you pick up this story.
I ended up liking the book but I had a really hard time coming to terms with Sophie’s character. Sometimes when a character’s internal issues overtake them as a character, it gets in the way of my enjoyment of the story. While this is personal preference, it happened during the first half of the book for me. I understood that a lot of her issues stemmed from her parents but it just took away something for me in connecting with her. Gil was the best part of this book for me. Overall, I liked this book and would read others by this author.
Sophie and Gil’s love story is beautiful and heart-wrenching. The author does an amazing job of balancing reality and fantasy in this story. This couple faces a variety of challenges to even get close to being near their HEA. Making them work for it, for each other made it more real. I loved this story. I can’t wait for more in this series. I am (not so) secretly hoping that there will be another book dedicated to these two when Gil returns to his job or Sophie encounters some hunky billionaire when she finds the thing she wants to do.
This was a first time author for me, and certainly shall not be my last. I loved this author’s way of engaging the reader and writing. I found the book itself light and funny. And it certainly had a lot of heart that was for sure enjoyable. It was a fun read that made me smile, well, a lot!
As I have said I loved how the story flowed, and the way one thing led to the next. The characters were adorable as well. Both Sophie and Gil had their own cuteness within them. I enjoyed watching them interreact together. The characters outside their relationship greatly contributed as well! Love when you got a good strong team outside the book’s main center of the couple. I enjoyed seeing what would happen next after something occurred. The book was a fast read for me, things led to another rather quickly, and I could not put this down as wondering really where Sophie and Gil would end up! Enjoyed this story very much, and I felt happy feelings as I read. Loved it!
Wonderful book, and I officially have a new author that I need and can stalk haha. I loved how the story came together and the author’s writing really made this story come to life I really highly recommend reading this cute and fun story! As well as highly recommending this wonderful author!
This is the first book in a new series by an author that is new to me. The cover and the blurb both appealed to me, so I decided to give this book, and the author, a try. I now have a new author to add to my ‘I will read again’ pile as I really enjoyed this book. Gil (G) and Sophie (Shee) are both characters that I really liked, although I did want to slap G a few times. They are well written and their antics kept me engaged and entertained throughout the book. The book can be a little angsty at times as Sophie is unsure of Gil’s feelings towards her. But who doesn’t love a little angst? For me, I enjoyed this book most when at Gil’s parent’s home in France. I really enjoyed the camaraderie between Gil and his siblings and parents and also how they welcomed Sophie into their family and treated her like one of them. At this point you see a very different side to Sophie compared to how you would think a millionaire actress would behave. She just wants to feel part of a family as she was never close to her own. It’s a very enlightening time for Sophie and I really enjoyed reading about this. Definitely recommend this book.
I have to be honest and say I wasn’t sure about Sophie when I very first started the book but the author soon showed me the error of my ways! that is what a great author does right? While working on her latest movie Sophie becomes friends with her leading man Guillaume or G as she calls him. Both Sophie and G want more but fight that attraction until the movie finishes. Are they or aren’t they together now?? Sophie is in need of a break from all the negative sides of her famous life so G talks her into taking a break by going with him to his family farm in France. That’s where the fun really starts! G’s family is querky ok, ok they are crazy but totally loveable!! lol Battling Life, Love and all the craziness around them Sophie and G will take you on a rollercoaster ride that’s for sure!

Romantic soul searching This was a book of mixed emotions to me. It was very slow in the uptake and then felt a bit lost in the middle with a rush at the end. Sophie’s character was a bit the same – full of mixed emotions but lacked personality. As for Gil – I struggled to connect with him. There was still substance and a good plot to the story. I really enjoyed Gil’s family and the writing was polished and easy to read. I will definitely check more from this author as I’m curious enough to see more.
Once I got going this one is hard to put down. There is a lot of push pull and ups and downs. I kept reading wondering “will they or won’t they?” The characters are delightful. While I enjoy the growth of each of the main characters the secondary characters added so much life to this story. It was interesting to see inside Sophie’s head and her thoughts on the business and fans. Gil…I really went through many emotions with him. At times I did not like him and other times he was super!
Overall this is a quick addicting read. Good character development and it has a nice flow.
This new adult romance is a bit of an emotional roller-coaster. The chemistry between the characters is strong. The story is about finding just who you are, being opened to falling in love and letting someone in enough to love you for you. Mixed Emotions is definitely an apt name for the series. Gil is very afraid of commitment, but Sophie now finds herself in the country in France facing down a llama but not just any llama no this is the grumpiest llama ever and let’s not forget the angry goats. I’m not sure how I felt about it.
Sophie and Gil were made for each other. I just couldn’t put this book down once I started it. The connection between Sophie and Gil is so obvious from the very beginning of this book. They’re so comfortable with each other that it’s only natural that the chemistry between them will be so intense too. These two are just so perfect for each other and their nicknames are just the cutest! But, so many obstacles keep getting in their way. It’s a journey full of twists and turns where I just wasn’t sure what would happen next, but the ending made me want to jump up and down with happiness. This is an incredible book that you won’t want to miss and I can’t wait to read the next ones in this series.

(Un)Loved is the first book in the Mixed Emotions series by Katy Hunter. This is the first book I have read from Ms. Hunter, so I was not sure of what to expect from the story. But the title and the blurb intrigued me enough to want to find out what lay in store between the covers. This is a new adult contemporary romance, with some push-pull, drama, family dynamics, and a little humour. While I did like the premise of the story and enjoyed it for the most part- I found the story a little slow to get going and found it difficult to connect with the characters, particularly Sophie. She frustrated me, badly- and her inner dialogue drove me crazy. So it took me a while to ‘get into’ the story and find my groove with it. Maybe it is just me having a bad book day, so I will revisit this book again soon and reread it to see if I still feel the same way. Looking forward to seeing what else Ms. Hunter can do. This was a good 5 star read. This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. Sophie and G are an on screen couple that are dealing with some off screen attraction as well. G invites Sophie to go home to France with him to his family farm and she takes him up on his offer. Having been an actress from a very young age this could be the break that she desperately needs. Needless to say that there are things that come up that cause some drama as Sophie and G work through their feelings. Sophie really likes his family, they were great.
Overall this was a read that had my emotions all over the place with everything these two were dealing with. I did have some LOL moments as well. All of the characters were great. Both Sophie and G grew on me as their story progressed. Learning about Sophie’s past really gives a glimpse at what some of these young Hollywood stars deal with. The author did a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. 1-click and get started today.
Sophie and Gil are both movie stars. They have just finished up a movie together where they were the lead male and female roles. The chemistry between them on and off screen is strong. Gil asks Sophie (Shee) to go home with him to visit his family in France. Their relationship takes on new levels, but Gil is very afraid of commitment for reasons I will not say (but you do find out why in the book). Gil’s family really pulls Shee in as a part of their family and shows her what a family is supposed to be like. Her own family cares very little about her and they haven’t seen each other since Shee was a young teen. I really enjoyed this book, it was very cute and the side characters were great. Reading about a city girl on a farm in France will make just about anyone laugh out loud I would imagine. It ended the way it should and I can’t wait to read the next one!
I really enjoyed this book. Katy Hunter was a new author for me but I appreciate her ability to tell a story and capture my attention from the beginning. Sophie never expected to fall in love with Gil but fate had other plans. Even though she is a huge star Sophie is looking for something, but she doesn’t know what. Is it Gil? Is it a change in jobs and lifestyle? Is it something more? Read this book to find out! I can’t wait to read the second book in the series!
This was a new to me author and fun and inviting cover that drew me in and had me intrigued right away! I had to know what was going to happen inside and I am glad I scooped this sucker up. It was quite the busy read and had a lot of story in it but this author did a fab job of keeping things pretty organized and my attention honed while I read. I liked that things were not always sunshine and roses for the characters like life so often is as it made the book not only relatable but real and believable. I for sure will be back to see what will happen next because I feel like this book was definitely ended in a way more will be coming and I will be definitely checking out this author’s other works soon as well!
A gripping romance story that draws you into every character that crosses the page. I really liked this novel, it is right up my alley. Romance, adventure and humour! The characters are well developed throughout, and my favourite character has got to be ‘Tornado’ (no spoilers!).
The reason for the 4 stars is because, for me, I enjoy cliff hangers throughout stories – which I thought this one was a tiny bit lacking. Additionally, the ending was a bit predictable, but abrupt – each to their own.
(Un)Loved seems to be a one-off story, but there is definitely room for the story to continue. I also think this would make an amazing Christmas film adaptation!
