Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella is the first book in the Kirk University series by Diana Vale.

This is my first time reading anything by this author, and I very much enjoyed this novella. It was a quick read that I read in an evening. The characters are sweet and well throughout, and they keep you wanting more. The story follows Cassandra (Cassie) who is a psychology student in her first year at the fictional Kirk University. She doesn’t intend to fall for her professor but just can’t keep away. The book is filled with romance and chemistry, and a fun take on what student life can be like.
I enjoyed this first book in the series, and look forward to seeing where the author takes us next.

I love a forbidden romance story so when I read the synopsis for this book I was really looking forward to reading it and overall I really enjoyed it, I guess it was a little predictable in parts and it was a short read but nevertheless I still liked it. Professor Valentine definitely had the sexy teacher vibe going on so I can see why Cassie fell for him!!
I am really looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series!

This book gets intense fast to say the least. Cassie is a 18 year old that has a crush on her hot hunky teacher, and doesn’t know how to go about getting him. Where as Diego is her teacher and isn’t allowed to do anything about It. It plays up the forbidden romance well and makes you invested in the story. He thinks she should be living the college life with her friends, going out drinking every night. But she has other plans, she wants to be considered mature and try’s to show him that she is.

Nice short read. This story was nice, I was excited to see Cassie, a student and Diego, a professor starting a flirtation. Cassie started getting on my nerves unfortunately, basically begging Diego to make it work, but then again Diego wasn’t much better lying to Cassie. The lie was sweet though, he was only trying to protect her. The ending came up fast and I was pleased with how everything turned out for them both. The only downside, everything seemed to move a little too fast for me, but still a worthy read.

This is a short romance story about a student and professor who fall for each other. This is a new author for me, I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a well rounded story about Cassie. She is a student at Kirk University who has a determination to play hard and work harder. Romance is the last thing she expects or wants right now. As she spends time with her professor Valentine, feelings start growing. They have an attraction to each other but will they act on it? What will happen with these two? Will she get more from the professor than she ever expected? I enjoyed their chemistry together. They were so sweet together. I enjoyed what they brought to the story. I highly recommend reading their story.

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Book 1) by Diana Vale is a quick read. The story is a look at the lives of young adults trying to find themselves and how to fit into the new life at university. With your typical excitement and angst, crushes and fun, romance and everything in between.

Diego Valentine is a good looking, drool worthy Professor and all the girls crush on him.

She is forbidden fruit but neither can look the other way.

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance is the first book in the Kirk University series, and debut novel by Diana Vale. It is also a novella- which makes for a very quick and easy read.
As the title would suggest, the story is a new adult contemporary student-teacher romance- with some drama, angst, and gives a great snapshot of university life.
What happens when 18 year old Cassandra Rodriguez, a psychology student and freshman at Kirk University, falls for her professor? No spoilers from me, you will have to read the story for yourself to find out what happens.
This was an easy read- but I did have trouble connecting with Cassie and Diego- which made it more difficult for me to fully appreciate this story. But, maybe I was just having an off reading day, so I ill reserve my final judgement and see I am interested in reading the rest of the series to see where we go from here.

Thank you, Diana Vale.

Heartbeats and Roses (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson – Review by Kandy Garrett

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance)Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance by Jae Dawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, more than I anticipated. It captured and held my attention through the entire thing.
The characters were relatable and the way Jae writes about this town makes me want to plan a trip to Washington!

All the quirks that Rose has cracked me up and made me love her that much more and learning of her one weakness made me giggle.

I didn’t want to like Liam, I tried really hard not to like him, too. It wasn’t easy and I wasn’t successful. His story hit a little close to home so I felt like I couldn’t dislike him even though I really wanted to.

AND NOW I want to have a Candlelit Dance under the tree, and I don’t even have a tree I could dance under!

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine's Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance)Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance by Jae Dawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heartbeats and Roses is part of Jae Dawson’s A Heartwood Holiday Romance series. The books can be read independently, and can be enjoyed as such. This book is a cute happily ever after clean romance. The descriptive writing is a little over the top at times, but it works. It describes the characters and their personalities. Rose is a florist and is a hopeless romantic. She describes feelings based on flowers that represent them, quotes classic literature, and dreams of knights in shining armor and swooning. Her clothes are described as doilies and lace, often pink, and she is all about romance and flowers. Liam is a doctor and describes feelings based on the chemicals and biological cause of them. Despite the two being completely different, they were best friends their whole lives. Liam quickly left town in high school, and cut all contact with Rose. Fate seems to bring them back together, and a series of freak accidents force their time together. While the book was a bit cheesy, I loved it! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

This was a super sweet story that falls at the perfect time of year. I previously read Moonlight and Belladonna which was set in Hartwood Hollow just as this one was. You can easily read each of these as standalones and each seems to follow the holiday theme.

I had a little trouble with this one as far as connecting with the two main characters. The actual storyline and the events during the story kinda took over for me. The family aspect as well was probably my favorite part of the whole story..Rose and Liam were awesome, and I loved each on their own, I just didn’t connect with the love story between the two, and I can’t explain why, I was more interested in Rose’s flower shop and her Valentines antics and her family, I couldn’t get enough of all of that. I love this small town and really will be looking forward to the next holiday in this series.

This is my 2nd book by this author, and I love many things about her writing and will absolutely be back for more.

This book was sweet and romantic. I liked Rose and her quirky romantic ways. She owns a flower shop and let’s love speak with her flowers. Rose’s family is fun, supportive and quirky just like her and I loved reading about them. Liam decides to take a much needed vacation and heads back to his hometown. He had no idea how hard it was going to be when all the feelings came back from 20 years ago. Rose and Liam grew up together and were hoping to become more than friends when he was forced to move away and he never looked back. This book is full of forgiveness, romance, second chances, and cute moments. This was a good read.

Heartbeats and Roses (book two in the Hartwood Holiday Romance series) by Jae Dawson was a really good read! I think Dawson has some of the prettiest covers, and I absolutely fell in love with this one. If you like contemporary romance with a happy ending, this book is for you. While this is the second in the series, it can be read as a standalone novel. This was the perfect sweet read for Valentine’s day. And honestly I learned a lot more about flowers from this book. I had no idea flowers had so many meanings! I loved this (to me anyway) second chance romance and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.

This is my first read by Jae Dawson and I found her simple and modern writing style easy to follow. This is a fun, light romance novel perfect for getting in the mood for Valentine’s Day. My favorite part of the book was Rose McDaniels, the florist main protagonist. She had an enjoyably earnest and old-fashioned personality. If you’re looking for a sweet, whimsical, second-chance romance, then you’ll enjoy Heartbeats and Roses.

This is a second chance romance based in a small town which rivals Hallmark as a haven for the holidays and Valentines is no exception. Rose McDaniels is a florist with a wild and romantic imagination who organises a secret valentine event every year where she takes orders for special valentines and creates a special message with flowers for the recipient to find at a Candlelight Ball on Valentines night and who owns a cat called Sophie. Liam Bradley is a cardiac surgeon having a string of bad luck, he is being investigated over the death of a patient, his relationship is just going through the motions and his girlfriend is not happy that he isn’t going on holiday with her and instead for some unknown reason, has decided to take up the offer of an old school friend to stay in his AirBNB for a couple of weeks in the hometown which he left twenty years ago without looking back.

Rose is in her shop preparing for an upcoming wedding she has in a couple of days when her landlord comes in to ask her to give a key to the person who is coming to stay in the AirBNB that afternoon, Rose agrees amid her deliveries coming in. Unbeknownst to either Liam or Rose, they are about to meet again when it turns out that he is the one who she has to hand the key over to and she is still affected by him the same way she was at sixteen, but she is torn as he doesn’t seem to be the same person, he is all lines and edges now and cold at the same time.

As Liam settles into the apartment, he agrees to see his friend at eight and then heads out to walk his dog Hunter before the snow really started to fall, he was also reminiscing about the town and how much had and hadn’t changed since he had been here last, then his thoughts turned to Rose and how she hadn’t changed much either and how he regretted how he had left things the last time he had seen her and as he and his friend talk about old times and his family drama over a beer, the subject of Rose comes up again, as does the fact she is still single. The next morning, Rose is busy and has another delivery of some more flowers, but as she is sorting it all out, that is until Liam is woken up and challenges Rose about the time and why she organises them this early and it is at that moment that Hunter decides to get out of the apartment, into the shop and chase Sophie around while destroying the floral arrangements and breaking the glassware inside. As Liam takes Hunter back upstairs and Rose is panicking about the damage and how she doesn’t have time to think, never mind clean up the mess, but when Liam comes back down to help she demands that he leaves and as she is about to go towards him, she slips on the leaf slime covering the floor and land on her wrists and hits her head, there is an audible crack, followed by immense pain and Liam insists on locking up and taking her to the hospital. Unfortunately, it is the same hospital where his dad works and they bump into each other there, the reception is as cold as the weather outside, but as he takes Rose inside to fix her arm, Liam calls her family in to help.

This is a complete disaster for Rose, what with the wedding and Valentines coming up in less that two weeks and with her two assistants unable to help out, she call on them all to help her, Liam included and this is where they start to reconnect, but will they both come to the realisation of what they have, or will Rose be left heartbroken again? Can she muster up the courage to go through with the Valentines events knowing that romance is dead and that she can’t do the things she loves most with her broken wrist? The only way to find out is to read along and find out in the romance filled to the brim with hearts, flowers and love.

Heartbeats and Roses by Jae Dawson a flirty four-star read. This is such a sweet read, it may give you toothache, I think I enjoyed this as it was a rekindling and that always warms me up. The familiarity between the characters was a little too much as they just seemed to be too insular and it made it difficult to imagine you are there with them, and that is how I usually read and get into a story. Overall, it was good, and I do plan on reading more from this author to see if the more I get to know the style the more I will enjoy it.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson was a great 5 star read.

If you like second chance romance you will get pulled into this story. Rose owns her own floral shop and she loves it. It has helped her move forward from her own heartbreak. Her favorite time of year is Valentine’s day when she has a special event.

Liam has returned home after an issue at work. He was forced to leave town years ago and he still has some feelings that need to be resolved from that night. The place he has rented for his stay is above a floral shop and brings him face-to-face with his past. He quickly realized how much he missed Rose and they started to get close again.

Will these two rekindle what they had in the past? Or will Liam’s current relationship get in the way?

Overall this was a great story. The author pulls you in with her writing and you won’t want to put it down. Both characters were great. My emotions were all over the place. Heartbeats and Roses by Jae Dawson is a Hartwood Holiday Romance. This was such a good book packed with everything! Second chances, forgiveness, small town – it has a little bit of everything.

Rose is such a text book romantic and truly enjoys matchmaking. As much as she’d like to find love for herself, no one has measured up to her first love. Maybe that will soon change. Liam has had a rough go of it lately and returns to his hometown to take a step back and get his bearings. He doesn’t expect to come face to face with the girl he left behind. Will fate intervene?

This was a sweet read. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I found myself really hoping things would work out for Rose after all the match making she’s done for everyone else. I had to find out how it would end! I recommend giving this book a chance!

Rose is standing there looking into the face of her past, not only her past but he ripped out her heart 20 years ago and she still has not quite put it back together. What will she do?

Rose is the owner of the local flower shop; she loves the job she does to injection happiness in the flowers she provides. A total romantic but life has been cruel to her after the love of her life left 20 years ago without even a backward glance. Once a year she becomes cupid with her Valentine Admirer event but she did not expect a shock this year.

When Liam needs to get away for a bit and get his head together after a surgery goes wrong, instead of going to see his girlfriend he decides to go back to his hometown. After being run out of town 20 years ago will he be able to confront the anger he felt all those years ago. So he booked an Airbnb and arrived at the flower shop. He did not believe he would be looking face to face with his past.

This story is a great tale of friendship, betrayal and trust and that you feel strong emotions with both of these characters. Liam’s character shows that he needs to soul search but needs the familiarity of his best friend to help him along the way. I loved the relationship between these two characters as the frosty beginning to then you are routing for them to rekindle the chemistry they had when they were younger. This story is well written and is a great paced book which once you have started can not put down. Although this book is part of a series, I feel you can read this as a stand-alone book. This is the second book I have read by this author and would love to read more.

After reading the first in this series, I could not wait to dive into this one and unfortunately it just didn’t hit the mark for me like the first one did. This is a second chance romance which is one of my favorite tropes ever, and it just fell short all around for me.
The story was good overall and had the makings of a great story it just didn’t hit that love level for me. I felt the characters were more friends than in love, and I hated feeling that way.

This is a beautifully written  story that fills you with a sense of romance from start to finish. Set in a sleepy little town it brings the quaint life alive and the setting is perfect for a second chance romance story.

Rose is a romantic. A complete helpless romantic. As owner of the local florist she is tasked to make special flowers arrangements for any occasion always with a theme of love in there. However, as much as she finds and creates love for other people she has been unable to find love for herself. The only person she ever felt that for was Liam.

Liam is now doctor. He left his home town and Rose behind years ago but he finds his way back. Trying to escape from the stresses of his job the last thing he expected to find was Rose.

I fell in love with Hartwood in Moonlight and Belladonna, so when I saw there was a Valentine’s Day themed one I knew I needed to read this story soon! I love how Jae Dawson has created this sleepy and perfectly sweet small town that I feel like would be perfect for me to live in. It just takes you away with her descriptions and each of the stories that take place there. This one brings us the story of Rose and Liam. Rose is the perfect hopeless romantic and uses that to her advantage with her matchmaking skills. Liam has come home because life threw obstacles his way in his career as a surgeon. These two will make you fall in love as they do and love every moment of it. This is one you don’t want to miss and I can’t wait to see what other books we get in Hartwood.
