Wendigo Forest by C.A. King is yet another fantastic book by this author. It is a YA Novel about Clara and her family’s profession. From the moment I started reading this book I was drawn straight into the imaginative world the author has created. I could vividly picture everything she was describing and really became invested in the characters I was reading about. I loved the whole feel that the book seemed to have – not something I could specifically put my finger on but there was definitely that extra something there.
I always think I have found my favourite book by this author and then another one come along a to prove me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book and I am looking forward to my next ready by such an amazing author.

This is a novella that doesn’t say much but hints at a lot. The story ends and everything makes sense. It is a story that is superbly written. It is another paranormal story written with intrigue and mystery. I liked the main character and wished the story would have been longer but such as it is, it’s a very good read. I enjoyed the fact that the story involved less commonly known legends. Another excellent book written by Ms. King.

I believe this is my first book by this author and I was totally entertained with this story. It is not in my go to genre list but the cover and the synopsis drew me in and I had to read it.
Its a quick read but we really get a great story out of it and now I am wanting more! Great characters and I could just see every detail in my mind. Will be looking at more from this author as now I need to know what I’m missing with not reading anything until now!

This is a story about the Fawns, an ordinary family, mum, dad, daughter, but their life is anything but ordinary, they have to move towns all the time for work and these continuous transitions are hard for them all, but hardest of all on Clara. She cannot make friends, she cannot find love and she cannot let herself get attached.

We meet Clara as she is travelling to a new town and another fresh start, she is starting to get sick of it and lose her patience with her parents’ constant need to move, but she goes along with it as they see their new home, as the grey rain falls down. The sign for Chance was overgrown and hidden from view, a great start, next came the size of it, small, a place where everyone will know each other and not making connections with people will be harder than ever, but would also mean that they would be easily forgotten when they eventually had to leave. The house came next, a large country house backing onto the woodland which surrounded the entire town, a driveway and a large yard, not what they usually went for in the slightest. After unpacking everything and getting settled, the first day of school and her new life would begin, but that is also when the dreams start, a dream so realistic that it stops her getting a good night’s sleep, just what she needs before her first day and it stays with her throughout that day as well.

Clara enters her new school expecting the worst, the comments about the new girl, the stares and the lack of fitting in. However, this first day was different, it was when she saw him, Hank and he sticks in her mind the rest of the evening as well. The next day, Hank approaches her and invites her to hang out with him and his friends after school at the shake shack. As much as she doesn’t want to make connections, she always ends up making them anyway, so she agrees to meet the group of friends after school. The rest of the day passes and she gets to the shack, which looks exactly how you would expect it to from the name, she goes to look at the names of the ice creams there and is confused when they are named after animals. When she asks about this, they say it has something to do with a local legend, but aren’t allowed to say anything else about it, but that she should go camping with them in the woods on friday and if she does go, then she can join their group, with that they leave her to decide what to do.

She decides to do a little research of her own when she gets home and that is where the Wendigo pops up and the revelation that the forest around the town is called Wendigo Forest. It is around this time that her parents expressly forbid her from going into the woods, but she does it anyway and this is where the story really gets going.

What will happen if she goes into the woods? What is a wendigo and should she be more scared that one may be in the forest? Will her new friends let her join their group, or will something stop her?

This one night will be life changing, but will it be for better or for worse? This story of fantastical creatures, twists, turns and mystery, is a journey you will want to go on too.

This is a great young adult story. It is shorter than normal for this author but I would say it would be a great introduction to the author and their stories and type of writing. Even though the story was shorter it didn’t lack anything and kept me gripped from beginning to end.

Clara is constantly on the move with her parents. She doesn’t know why but her parents job means she’s moved all the time. As a teenager it’s hard for her to keep adjusting to new towns and meeting new people. She is scared to make friends for the upset it causes when she leaves.

The arrive in a little town of Chance and she automatically falls for a guy called Hank. Hank tells her of the myth of the town, about the Wendiago. This creature lives in the forest and preys on people. Should Clara be worried about the Wendiago? Does it even exist? Or is the danger hiding in plain sight?

Yes! I want more! I wasn’t sure how this book was going to play out being so short, or if I would even be able to get in to it, I DID! I was so hooked by the last page I was screaming for more! I’m not sure if I have ever read a story centered around wendigos but I loved this story. Clara seems like an odd one, but I was so hoping she would make some new friends that she could form a long lasting relationship with, but she felt as if she was the odd one out yet again. I am also holding out hope that Hank isn’t a jerk, sometimes he seems like he would be and then other times I am hoping for Clara and Hank to develop something special. Her parents are only in this town to chase down the most current serial killer, an assumed wendigo. There is a nice twist at the end that will change Clara’s life forever. I really need to see what happens next so fingers crossed there is a follow up to this book!

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King a fast paced five-star read. This is a typical read by this author, its engaging, compelling and will have you wondering where the time went when you finish as you start this story, and get so gripped by the story you don’t look up until its over. I did finish it and feel like there could have been more pages, but I feel that about most novels. Clara was a character that you could get behind, she is struggling, and you can see her story unfolding. What I love most about this author is the way the words appear on the page, they reveal a story before your eyes, you can see the characters and the scene unfold like a movie in your mind. Do not miss this author as they have a great way with words.

I have read numerous stories from this author. I usually enjoy them and look forward to more. This one is a short read. It is very slow with a lot of narration. This one is good for a Halloween storytelling-time kind of year. It has spooky elements that are good for the dark room, eerie music, campfire telling. Just the execution could have been better. I am glad this isn’t my first book by this author, not sure I would look for more.

Wendigo Forest is an exciting Young Adult paranormal fantasy from C.A. King. I’ve enjoyed many of King’s books and this is a fun short read that introduces us to yet another world from her imagination.
Wendigo Forest is an urban fantasy. It feels a bit like Supernatural at times, if Sam and Dean had a teenager in tow who thought they had some exciting but decidedly un-supernatural job. Clara is tired of constantly moving from place to place, from school to school. She doesn’t see the point in trying to make new friends. At her new school, though, her classmates are going out of their way to welcome her and involve her in their community.
I liked the inclusion of Mr Flufunny! It makes a lot of sense that Clara would rely on a familiar comfort and seemingly silly rituals as her life is always so unsettled.
For me, this is a four-star book that left me wanting more. I really hope we get to hear how Clara’s next adventure goes (but if not, there’s plenty to inspire my imagination!).
Fans of C.A. King will love this new story, and it’s a great entry point. It’s a short, easy read and geared towards older teen and young adult readers so it’s a great way to get a taste of King’s fantastic writing and imagination before trying a longer book.

I was so excited to get my hands on Wendigo Forest by CA King! I was not one bit let down either and this book was the perfect read for my pre-Halloween celebration. I dove in during an early snow storm in the evening curled up with a blanket and this was just the perfect addition to my evening. I loved how this read fast and was a shorter novella so it felt very much like a grown-up bedtime story for me as I was reading and that added to the mystical and magic of this novel that much more. This is full of wonderful and vivid imagery, something I have come to love from CA King, and it makes you feel as if you are right there for everything as the characters are. This is a paranormal read obviously with the WENDIGO as a basis the story is built upon. This is done in an original way and really felt fresh and new as I read it, not an old tale just retold. We meet Clara, a fawn in her formative years as she traverses the world King as created and the creatures that inhabit it. Prepare for some scare moments and some suspense! I can’t wait to see what we will get next from CA King!

Wendigo Forest is a YA Paranormal story by C.A. King and is everything you would want in a short story. It is full of fantasy and myths that are well written and fast paced. You will be brought along on the adventures that Clara experiences and discovers.
Thank you Ms. King for well developed characters who become realistic the deeper you get in the book. My only complaint is that it would have been amazing if it had been longer so that we could have gotten even more in depth and close to the Fawns.

I really liked the characters and thought they were well developed rather than be supporting 1 sided characters they were really well rounded. This was my first book by C.A. King. I haven’t really been into supernatural books lately, but I’m so glad I took a chance on this one. Our main female is Clara Fawn. She’s your typical teenager, hates moving around as often as her parents need her to for their work. Hates going to new schools CONSTANTLY. Hates when her parents keep things from her and won’t let her do normal teenage things. This story had my attention right away and I cannot wait until the next one comes out.

Wendigo Forrest is a fantastic YA paranormal story by C.A. King. The story is everything I have come to expect from Ms. King- a well written, intriguing, and engaging tale- with wonderful world building, a little mysteriousness, some dramatic developments, and a bit of spookiness that kept things interesting.
This is a very short story, which made for a very quick and easy read- I would like to have read a slightly longer version of this book and be able to immerse myself in the story with more detail, but still an enjoyable book. The characters are well developed individuals who are entirely realistic and believable.
I enjoyed meeting Clara, a teenage Fawn, and following along as the story unfolded. Mystery and spookiness ensue- making for a great read!

Thank you, Ms. King!

CA delivers us a great mystery that has well developed characters and brings us into the fold of this mysterious world of what is out there in the dark and monsters are real. I loved reading the book Wendigo Forest by C.A. King. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I enjoyed reading about the character of Clara Fawn. She and her family were always on the move and Clara is the one that felt the impact of it. I felt empathy for Clara as she felt like an outsider whenever she started over. The book has a suspenseful feeling all the way through. There is mystery in the air, and I was turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. What will Clara and her family find in their new hometown? Read this book to find out. The author does an amazing job of making both the story and the characters come to life. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book. I would highly recommend reading it.

This is a shorter story that is full of fantasy and myths. This is one of my favorites by this author. I was pulled in right from the beginning. The characters are really well developed and bring the story to life. I had no problems connecting with them. This is a story that brings a town full of myths and characters with a past. The Fawns move from town to town but in this new town, there are myths told. Entering the forest without hearing these myths could prove dangerous. I really enjoyed this story and the fantasy adventure it took me on. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Myths—legends—stories—they all amounted to one thing: half-truths. Through evolution things changed. Revealing false information became a profession trusted only to a select few. Sometimes, however, the unknown preferred anonymity.

The Fawns researched the unusual on a daily basis. That didn’t mean everyone in the family was happy with the lifestyle. Scars came in a number of varieties and Clara Fawn carried them all, visible or not. No one ever questioned them or her before. That was about to change…

Somewhere along the line, moving became as common as Sunday night dinner. Some bites were good, others not quite as palatable. Their new hometown overflowed with strange myths. Not waiting to hear them before entering the woods was the last mistake any of them would make.

The Wendigo were out there, waiting…

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.

Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.

To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.

People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.

I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you different.

I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes – I want them to know they are making a difference.

Fast forward to today…
