Loving the cover art ! However , don’t let it me do lead you there’s something very different in between those pages and having read the first book in the series “ Love, only better” I was more than eager to get started on this read 🥰📚

Usually it’s woman who suffer at the hands of others wether it be at the hand of their loved one or employer and while it does happen to men it’s not something often women of so this was a big attraction for me ….not because I’m a sick puppy but because I appreciate that a taboo subject is being broached …..

We met Rebecca and Kyle in the first boom and Kyle was Rebecca’s saving grace and this time tomes are reversed 😉look I know he knew she’d support him but I also felt his anxiety and fear to share his experience….

So Kyles past meets up with his present unbeknown to them and when the dots are connected boy do we get fireworks and I typical fashion the aggressor looks for a scapegoat and tries to target Rebecca and name get out to be the bad guy but she who I shall not mention picked the wrong girl to pick a fight with !

I loved how supportive these 2 were of each other , i loved how a taboo subject was approached without emasculating Kyle but making him and his emotions and experience a very real thing and this is really a read I’d love to share with men and women alike 🥰📚

This is the second book in the Bold Journeys series, I would recommend reading the books in order as they follow the same characters. The focus of this book is Kyle. This could be quite triggering for some people as it does deal with the subject of male sexual assault. Kyle is such a strong well well-written character, I spent the book wanting to be there for him and hold his hand. Rebecca reaction to Kyle’s assault was maddening I got so frustrated and angry with her. It was a fantastic book and I could not put it down.

This was a great continuation of the Bold Journeys Series. I was easily pulled into the story, and I got a lot more from it than I thought I would. I can’t recall reading another book that spoke of something similar, and something not often talked about, but I felt like it was really well done and respectful. I read the first book in the series, but I don’t think you need to if you don’t want to. Although you’d be missing out on an excellent story.

Once again the author discusses a subject not really talked about. Sexual harassment from a female to a male is often a touchy subject. The book is fast paced and the author has done her research on the subject. i really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next book.

I was absolutely captivated by this story from the very first page. I did enjoy the first book in this series, Love, Only Better, and I feel it gives more depth to the story. I highly recommend picking the first book up before diving into this one. That being said, the author does try to bridge the gap a little so that you won’t get lost without the first in the series. The story wastes no time with preambles as we plunge into the first chapter where we learn of Kyle’s haunting past. He can no longer run from it, and though his girlfriend is shocked, she wants to help him. Can she aid Kyle with healing his past, or is it too daunting a task for either of them to take on? I believe the author did an amazing job covering a tough subject that isn’t much talked about. I cannot wait to see what is in store for us in the next book!

What We Never Say: Empowering Contemporary Women's Fiction (Bold Journeys Book 2)What We Never Say: Empowering Contemporary Women’s Fiction by Paulette Stout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an engaging and emotional read which had me captivated throughout, and yet again the storyline focuses on a delicate subject, but does so with sensitivity and honesty. The story continues with Kyle and Rebecca’s romance journey from book one, but this time it focuses more on Kyle’s past traumas. Kyle had been keeping his past in fashion hidden from Rebecca, but when her blog for women becomes a global sensation in one particular magazine, Kyle comes face to face with his painful past. Kyle has tried to forget Jane, who was and is the most powerful woman in fashion publishing, for the past eleven years, but the world famous magazine editor now has Rebecca’s career in her hands. With Janes outrageous demands putting both Kyle and Rebecca’s reputations and careers at stake, as well as their relationship, the couple decide to go public with the truth about what happened between Jane and Kyle, but they are unsure if anyone will believe them. Having read and enjoyed book one I was looking forward to being back with Kyle and Rebecca, who are both likeable and relatable, and I was not disappointed. I liked how their relationship changed and developed throughout the story, and their chemistry was definitely still there and came across in the narrative. The plot kept me hooked and this was a real emotional rollercoaster of a read, but one which I definitely recommend.

This is the second book in the Bold Journeys series. I do really recommend reading the first book as the characters of Kyle and Rebecca are the main characters here as well. Whereas the last book focuses on Rebecca this one focuses on Kyle. The author deal with the sensitive subject of sexual assault against a male in a respectful way. It is a subject that isn’t talked about much and it is good that the author has brought this to light and made it more acceptable to talk about.
We always hear of powerful men abusing their power against women but it happens the opposite way as well which most people don’t realise.
When Rebecca finds out Kyle used to be a model she is angry that he didn’t tell her but what she doesn’t realise is that the smile in those pictures was a cover up of a lie.
At that time Kyle was suffering from abuse from a powerful women who threatened his career if he didn’t bow down and do as she said. All these years later Kyle is still traumatised about this experience and has spoken to know one until now.
Now the past and the person of his nightmares has come back and wants to wedge herself into his life once again.
I must admit I was a little shocked and disappointed in Rebecca at first when she took the job working for the same woman that abused Kyle all those years ago. With everything that Kyle had helped and supported her througg in the last book i expected the same from her in this story which wasnt the case at the start but as the story goes on she does redeem herself.
This is a very emotional story full of anger, and shame.
Will Kyle ever work through his past? What effect will her return into his life have on Kyle and Rebecca’s relationship? Will this woman be made to pay for what she did to Kyle? Now Kyle is read to speak out will anyone actually believe him?

My heart went out to Kyle all the way through this book as he struggled to come to terms with what happened to him and tries to move forward.

This book sucked me in on page one, it is that good! It tackles such a delicate subject from a male’s perspective which was both surprising and made me realize that most books only protray female sexual assault victims not male. I would recommend a trigger warning for anyone who has experienced a traumatic sexual event. Very powerful and realistic journey that people face daily all around us. This is the second book I have read from this amazing author and I have got to say that I am extremely impressed and can not wait to see what else yhe future holds. I recommend this read.

This was an overall good book, was kind of harder to get into from the first, but I was glad to be able to see things from a different side. As life tries to go on, sometimes the past will come up to haunt you. I applaud Paulette for writing such a book that deals with sensitive topics that the everyday person just struggles to talk about.

Reading the trigger warning on What We Never Say is a must, as it heavily speaks about sexual abuse of the male main character. It sheds light on some of the feelings both the victim as well as others who know about the assault. This type of book is definitely needed in the world as some if its topics are viewed as ‘taboo’ and many public settings (including book writing) shy away from hitting the problem head on. I loved that Paulette Stout including the relationship aspect with the abused moving on from the traumatic event with a new love. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but the beginning was one of the hardest parts to read. It is certainly an attention grabber and will suck you into the story.

What We Never Say: Empowering Contemporary Women's Fiction (Bold Journeys Book 2)What We Never Say: Empowering Contemporary Women’s Fiction by Paulette Stout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This work of contemporary women’s fiction handles this not often spoken of issue with tact and care. Men that have suffered sexual harassment or abuse often get forgotten. This tale of a proud survivor reclaiming his life and being a beacon of hope for others was beautifully written.

Kyle has hidden his past from the love of his life Rebecca. She has opened up about her struggles with intimacy and it has only made their relationship stronger. When she wants him to open up about his past, he is afraid his secrets will chase her away. When Kyle discloses what happened to him as a 19-year old, Rebecca doesn’t run. She supports Kyle.

Rebecca’s life is taking an interesting turn. Her blog that discusses her very personal journey to overcome her intimacy issues is becoming successful. It has even caught the eye of the icon of fashion and women’s magazines, Jane Stuart and MOD Magazine. Neither immediately understands their connection through Kyle. As the connection is revealed, Jane tries to save herself by painting Rebecca as the villain.

Kyle and Rebecca face all the problems together. Together is where they realize they should be. The author paints a wonderful portrait of families and partners supporting survivors of sexual abuse.

What We Never Say (Bold Journeys Book 2) by Paulette Stout. I really enjoyed this book. It’s a deep book about a very sad situation. There is sexual abuse talked about in this book so be aware. It’s the story of Rebecca who is a writer and has started a blog that is getting a lot of attention, in fact a major women’s magazine is picking it up. Everyone is so excited for her except for her boyfriend Kyle. He seemed really reserved about it. Kyle has things in his past that he’s not proud of and doesn’t want to talk about. When a person from his past brings out his secret he is deeply hurt. Rebecca had no idea that Kyle used to be a model and she is as shocked as everyone else. Will they be able to work out these issues from Kyle’s past and not let it interfere with Rebecca’s writing and their relationship? This series is a very good series and this book in particular deals with a very taboo subject. I love how this author handled it. I would recommend reading the first book beforehand so that you can get a better understanding of the characters.

What We Never Say
By: Paulette Stout

This book is a fantastic look at power, control, and unwanted attention. However, it takes a look at it from a male perspective. Which I truly enjoyed. Sometimes, I like my perspectives to be challenged by showing me things other than what I am used to. I loved how Paulette Stout tackled the subject of males being harassed by a female in power. I think that this is an area that is generally overlooked. This book tackles this subject matter in such a fantastic way and shows how these actions have such far reaching consequences. I definitely cannot recommend this book enough!

What We Never Say is the fast paced second book in the Bold Journeys series a women’s fiction tale by Paulette. Make sure to read the first book Love, Only Better as the story continues on for Rebecca and Kyle. Paulette gives enough backstory in this book, so you don’t have to read the first one, but it does follow on and you are missing a lot.
I like Paulette’s writing style and after enjoying book one was ready to jump in. I enjoyed the first book but am a little torn with this book. Rebecca actions were a little disappointing to start with, she is getting to do her dream job but at what cost. She does however redeem herself a bit after a while.
The first book was more about Rebecca and her wants and needs but in this book, we get to learn more about Kyle. This tale is filled with lots of emotions, angst, disgust, drama, and lots, lots more.
Paulette handles a delicate and taboo subject well and unfortunately it is something that is not discussed enough. It is also a subject that not many thinks happen unfortunately.
Kyle has suffered sexual assault at the hands of a powerful woman, and it seems their paths are about to cross again. He finally has to open up and shares the shame and degradation he suffered with Rebecca, but she only thinks of herself. I was very disappointed in her actions.
I read this in about two days and really wanted to know what was going to happen and if Rebecca and Kyle’s plan would work out.
I look forward to seeing how the next book pans out as I feel that there are some loose ends.
As with the first book I think this is one story that you will either really like or not.

This is my second Stout book and once again, I am quite captivated by the story line and its content. I’ve read stories before on abuse but this is the first time reading about a male victim. Although it is not as common, it is good to spread awareness of his predicament. This story tells of Rebecca, an upcoming magazine writer, and her boyfriend, Kyle, a former model turned photographer. Details of his past begin to emerge of sexual harassment from high executive women. These details make and break what relationship they have and put them into a precarious situation. The story shifts here and there but continues to captivate its readers as it progresses.

What We Never Say is the second book in the Bold Journeys series. This book picks up where book one left off so if you have not read the first book, I highly recommend that you do, or you may not understand the characters and their backstory. This story centers around Rebecca and Kyle who have now moved in together. Rebecca has a blog that is gaining in popularity and is asked by a major magazine to write a story. When Kyle finds out he is rightfully upset because he used to model for the magazine and was sexually assaulted by the magazine editor. It is a dark part of his past that was so traumatic for him that he tried to bury it and forget it. However, he is now forced to confront his past and come forward with what happened. When he tells Rebecca she is less than understanding and chooses to go forward with writing the article because it will be good for her career. Will Rebecca and Kyle be able to overcome this part of his past and move forward?

The author did a realistic job of approaching the difficult and sensitive topic of sexual assault on men. This is a topic that garners a lot of attention and support for women who have been sexually assaulted but there is little to no discussion about sexual assault on men. Due to embarrassment men keep this to themselves and do not seek help for fear of not being believed or being ridiculed. Rebecca’s reaction and lack of support towards Kyle’s dark past is one of the reasons men do not come forward. After reading the first book I knew that Rebecca was coming from a place of low self-esteem and was just discovering herself. She was coming into her own, trying to find her place in the world, and take control of her own life. At the same time Rebecca’s lack of empathy and support towards Kyle’s painful past should have been a deal breaker for their relationship. Kyle should have walked away but it was easy to see that he, too, had self esteem issues. It was a very complicated situation for both Rebecca and Kyle as they tried to navigate through Kyle’s traumatic experience. This book had love, hope, angst, despair, secrets, lies, betrayal, and sensitive subject matter.

This book is an emotional story that touches on a tough and sensitive subject. I really became invested in the story and I think it is because it was the typically female victim. This topic focus was the male main character and the author dealt with it in such a great way. It was believable and you were never led to feeling sorry for the character.
I thought the whole book was really well written and all the characters were intertwined and interesting. This is only the second book that I have read by this author and I am excited to discover more.

What We Never Say is the second book in the Bold Journeys series by Paulette Stout. It is a women’s fiction story with drama, angst, sensitive subject matters, emotion, and more.
Rebecca and Kyle’s story continues from where we started in book one, so I recommend reading the first book before starting on this one. This book gives us a deeper look and understanding of Kyle which was lacking in Book One. I thought that knowing more about him would help me connect better with the characters and their story, and while I appreciate their story and can ‘feel’ for them and what they have been through, I am still struggling to really connect with them and become invested in them and the outcome of their story. But I will wait to see what Book #3 brings, and hopefully things will just finally ‘click’ for me there.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Paulette Stout!

This is the second book in the Bold Journeys series continuing Rebecca and Kyle’s story. This again covers a topic which should be more openly spoken about, though different from the first – male survivors of abuse. As with the last topic the author covered it sensitively and respectfully.
I enjoyed continuing with Rebecca and Kyle from the last book (I would heartily recommend reading that one too) and seeing their relationship progress and how they tackle the difficulties before them. I really felt for Kyle in this one, having to face his past, particularly given what he went through is difficult, but he’s a strong survivor and remains open to love. His struggle feels very real, as does his course of action/reaction.
I loved getting to know more about Kyle in this one as it was what I had hoped for in reading the last book.
The characters are unique and well-constructed, each having their own characteristics and I could picture them vividly thanks to the author. The writing flowed nicely making for easy reading and I couldn’t put the book down.
I can’t wait to see which couple and which topics are encountered in the next novel!

Well, this is a book that has a controversial topic in it. You’ll have to read it because I’m not touching much on that. The writing in the story was okay. It is a little dry in spots but the story flows well throughout. The characters are pretty relatable. Overall, it’s done from the guy’s POV of being a sexual assault victim. It’s worth giving it a shot.
