Wheel of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 3)Wheel of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve read many of the author’s books before, and thoroughly enjoyed the mix of historical detail and adventure. This book is no different, and I must say that I liked that this novel got a bit close to home for the main character Nerefet. The plot is, as usual, full of twists and turns that kept me hooked. I love everything this author writes and recommend you read all the books in the series.

Wheel of Evil is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter series. Neferet is back with a new mystery to solve. Her uncle got involved with some bad business dealings and people have been turning up dead. Both Neferet and her father, Hani, start investigating in their own ways. Will they be able to solve the mystery together? This is another great addition to this cozy mystery series. The author takes us on a journey through Ancient Egypt and what a journey it is. I enjoyed this final book in the series. I liked that the author had Neferet and her father working together to solve this mystery.

Neferet, Bener’ib and Mut-Tuy are back with another mystery to solve and this time it is closer to home, because Neferet’s Uncle Pipi has gotten involved in a get rich quick scheme, it is a chariot workshop which wants to expand and he is an investor, unfortunately, he is on trouble because the payments keep increasing and he starts to be unable to afford it and is scared.

This is where the other investors start dying and this terrifies Pipi and the rest of the family, especially when it becomes clear that there are some unsavoury characters behind the scheme and things begin to go wrong. As usual, an investigation starts and Neferet becomes embroiled in the scheme herself, but can she and her band of teenage investigators figure out who is behind the chariot workshop pyramid scheme before anyone else is killed, or will this be their last investigation?

This is a historical murder mystery where danger lurks around every corner and emotions run high when money, chariots and two young sunets become involved.

Soon investors on this scheme start turning up dead which doesn’t surprise Neferet in the least. What is such a secret that some is killing all these people? Will she and her team find the culprit before they need to plan Uncle Pipi’s funeral? Book three in Hani’s Daughter Mysteries was just as good as the rest. Wheel of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 3)Wheel of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The things we do for family. N.L. Holmes brings us Neferet and Bener-ib’s newest adventure or I should say mystery. This time though it’s very close to home with her uncle being in direct danger and thus her entire family at risk. From different perspectives we get to see not only how Neferet investigates but her father Hani.
Neferet’s uncle Pipi is essentially a giant ten-year-old as she describes him, at least financially. His newest passion is chariot making, though when things start not going as planned, he recognizes that and wants out only his friend tries first and ends up murdered the next day. He has no other choice, he must let his older brother Hani know what’s going on, he needs his help in finding a way out and getting free. While Hani goes to speak to the widow about what happened and trying to learn more about the other investors, Neferet goes straight to the chariot maker in hopes of learning more. Learn more she does, the plan to get rich wasn’t his idea but someone else’s and even he doesn’t know all the details and who the investors are, he only states he won’t turn down the silver he’s brought.
Who is behind the plan? Can Neferet and Hani discover the truth? What will happen to Uncle Pipi and the entire family if they don’t figure it out in time? With each book in this incredibly in-depth series your shown more of the historical aspects of Ancient Egypt. This time we got a better look into chariot making and how one kick of a horse can damage the integrity of the entire thing. The map at the beginning, the character list, and the glossary all helps in fully immerse the reader in the mystery that follows. I can’t wait to see what mystery Neferet and Bener-ib will solve next.

I quite liked this one. It took me a good few chapters to really get into it but once I did I could hardly put it down. Neferet is on a mission to release her Uncle Pipi from a get rich quick scheme which has turned deadly. As Neferet investigates who’s behind it she becomes embroiled in a complicated plot of murder, blackmail and skulduggery.
It was an interesting mystery crime story with lots of twists and turns. I liked the fact that I couldn’t work out what characters were to blame till the end. The names were a little tongue tying but once I got used to them it was OK. I’d definitely read more from this author!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So this is the 3rd book in the series and I quite literally binged them one after the other !

This time round things are a little more personal for Neferet as it’s her uncle she has to help , he somehow got sucked into a pyramid scheme of sorts ( pardon the pun ) and who knew that even back in those days you had terrible schemes like this 🤷‍♀️and “ investors” are dying so time is of the essence and their lives are in a danger to a degree …..

Her father was nervous and rightly so but he also knows his daughter and his support is unfailing , good job dad 🥰

Let’s not forget Brute 🐾🥰 oh he just won me over with his canine personality , really is man’s best friend 🐾🥰

There were sone unexpected twists and it just befuddles me how determined these girls are even in the face of danger and opposition!. This is definitely a family you’d want to a part of 😉❣️

Hopefully Uncle Pa-Kiki has learnt his lesson 🙈😉🤷‍♀️

This is the 3rd book in the Hani’s Daughter Mystery series. I honestly can not express how much I love these books. The author takes my two favourite things mysteries and my love for Ancient Egypt and brings them together in an incredible series.
I am always amazing with the authors attention to detail and how much research is done to recreate and really bring this time to life. I completely get lost in the lives of the characters and I love experiencing life as it would have been in the Ancient World.

In this story we are back with Hani and his family. When Hani’s brother Pipi gets dragged into a scheme that promises him more riches on his investment, things seems like a dream until Pipi realises that it’s all a lie and the punishment for not paying or for trying to leave the investment could cost him his life.
When one of Pipi’s friends is murdered for trying to leave Hani’s daughter Neferet knows she has to uncover who is behind this scheme before anymore lives are lost.
This could be the most dangerous mystery she has tried to solve and when dealing with dangerous people what will happen if a target appears on her back?

Wheel of Evil is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series. The story can be enjoyed as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the other books in the series. Neferet and Bener-ib are back with their group of teenage detectives out to solve more crime in Ancient Egypt. The series is a branch off of the Lord Hani series and is geared towards young adult and older who enjoy historical fiction and/or cozy mysteries. Uncle Pipi has gotten himself into a bad business deal that was too good to be true when his niece, Neferet steps in to help him. I enjoyed the story and characters. The author brings a lot of interesting details about Egypt into the story which helps bring the reader into the story more. I’ve enjoyed seeing Neferet get her own series of stories and watching her grow in her detecting skills. Her and Bener-ib are a good team with their friends trying to make the world a better place. I look forward to reading more of her stories and getting more insight into the ancient world.

Wheel of Evil is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter Mystery series, but the first of the series that I have read so far. It was very intriguing to read as the tale unfolds and the mystery thickens as to who is behind the scheme leading to several investors’ deaths. As our main character’s uncle gets involved, it leads her, along with her friends and family, to get to the bottom of what’s going on before her uncle meets his demise. This book was exciting to read and had a lot of thrilling events take place that keep you guessing what may befall our main character next. As the main character gets closer and closer to uncovering the answers that she is seeking, she finds herself in a very dangerous situation. Will her friends and family be able to help her, or will they find out what they need to know after it is too late? If you love to read a book full of action and love the thrill of trying to solve a good mystery, then this is the series for you! Happy reading, I hope you enjoy the adventure.

Wheel of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 3)Wheel of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wheel of Evil is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series. The series, which follows on from the Lord Hani series, is set in Ancient Egypt and follows Neferet as she and her partner Bener-ib solve mysteries. Neferet and Bener-ib also work as healers so there are interesting insights into Ancient Egyptian medicine along the way!

In Wheel of Evil, Neferet is trying to save her Uncle Pipi from the consequences of a business deal that turned out to be too good to be true. He is being asked for more and more money, and threatened with a rather horrible death if he doesn’t keep contributing.

This is an intriguing mystery, with lots of trails to piece together. I like that we see Hani and Neferet both investigating different parts of the mystery at the same time, and sharing their findings. It’s interesting to learn more about how chariots were built as well!

You could read this as a standalone but to get to know the characters I’d recommend either reading the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series from the start, or beginning with the Lord Hani series. There are plenty of entertaining and immersive stories to enjoy!

This book gets five stars from me. I’d recommend the series to fans of historical mysteries who are interested in Ancient Egypt.

They are so good and very hard to put down once you start them. It’s the continuing story of Neferet and her friends and this time they are trying to solve the mystery of the body that was washed up on the river bank. As Neferet and her girlfriends set out to solve this mystery they encounter all kinds of shady characters and are putting themselves in harms way while they are doing it. This is set in Ancient Egypt and the writing is so well done I actually felt like I was there. There is mystery, intrigue, crime, murder, secrets and lies. This is the third book in this series of historical cozy mysteries set in Ancient Egypt, and featuring Hani’s (from a previous series of books) daughter Neferet. I’m a big fan of both Neferet and this series of books and was not disappointed by this latest novel. Once again I was transported back in time thanks to the wonderfully written and detailed descriptive narrative and the added historical details. The intriguing storyline had me hooked throughout and I enjoyed investigating alongside Neferet, Bener-ib and their band of teenage detectives. Neferet’s Uncle Pipi has got involved in a ‘get rich quick’ scheme at a chariot workshop. She starts to investigate when investors start turning up dead. The team must discover what’s going on and who’s behind it, but the investigation turns deadly when Neferet becomes the next victim. The storyline kept me gripped and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story. I’m now waiting ‘impatiently’ for book four in this enjoyable and engaging series!

Neferet is one of the main characters of the story. She works in a very male-driven industry. Still, the author has Neferet written to be a very strong-willed independent character that as a reader you couldn’t picture her doing anything else. Except for maybe becoming a detective lol. When a business associate of her uncle comes up dead it piques Neferet interest. The only issue is whether Neferet or any of her loved ones could become the next victim. I loved the flow of the story and the storyline. I absolutely recommend that you read the prior books in this series to get the full story. Wheel of Evil is the third book in the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series by N.L Holmes. I really enjoy these historical mysteries, which are woven with wonderfully rich historical details, texture, depth, interesting characters, adventure, intrigue, suspense, dramatic developments, emotion, tension, secrets, lies, family dynamics, and danger. This series is a direct spin-off from ‘The Lord Hani Mystery Series’, which I also love– but this time we follow Hani’s daughter, Neferet (and friends), as she gets drawn into some very intriguing mysteries.
Neferet (and Co) plunge into another investigation when her uncle gets caught up in a get-rich-scheme where the ‘investors’ begin dying off…. What’s really going on here? With danger mounting, time is running out to get to the bottom of it all before it’s too late.
Another intriguing cozy historical mystery, set in ancient Egypt- with plenty of vivid detailing and descriptions which helped to bring everything to life There is a definite ‘crime and investigation’ aspect to the story- and a ‘whodunnit’ mystery that kept me engrossed as I followed along to find out how everything played out in the end.
Looking forward to ‘Melody of Evil’ (Book #4)
Happy Reading…

Wheel of Evil (Hani's Daughter Mysteries Book 3)Wheel of Evil by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Neferet, a young woman in a masculine led world fearlessly embarks on an investigation into the death of a man who conducted business with her uncle and a group of unsavory men. She had previously proven her propensity to successfully embark and resolve investigations like this one. However, should her case ruffle the feathers of the unsavory world rumbling barely visible to the bare eye of society, her and/or her family could fall victim to the perpetrators.

Initially her father expressed concern that she may try to look into the matter but quickly assessed that he cannot control a strong minded, independent young woman.

Neferet’s character is one that will resonate with readers who were ever underestimated, ignored, etc due to age, sex, and/or beauty.

I loved her dog Brute, a large mastiff due to my love of the breed and understanding of their beautiful personalities and intense protectiveness.

I also enjoyed how Neferet’s family appeared rather close and they all depended upon one another. She had the support of her husband, Ptah-mes, as well as Maya, Hani, Mom, Pop, Meyer-ra, Pa-kiki to name a few. How could I forget uncle Pipi who as usual landed himself in a very precarious situation that the family was unfortunately quite used to.

The deeper they dive into the problem, the sketchier things appear. While they try to get to the bottom of things, they need to be extremely careful and cautious.

Twists and turns were plentiful throughout the pages making this one helluva mystery. I was surprisingly pleased and impressed with how this developed.

I think fiction readers will thoroughly enjoy getting to know Neferet and her family while reading this book. It kept me engaged and intrigued. I feel like this was a diamond hiding in the rough. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
