Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin – Review by Heidi Sturgess

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This has been a brilliant series and while they can be read as standalones I highly recommend you reach them in order not only because you owe it to yourself as a spoil for being an amazing human but because in a way they are linked because of the characters and references to them , just my humble though ( but really read them all (😉🤣❣️📚)

So we’re back in McIntyre County and things are heating up literally and figuratively 🔥Sheriff Shane Hamilton had his hands full with a flame of arsons , 2murders and a personal weight on his shoulders so his feathers are ruffled when the hot ( pardon the pun ) FBI Liza Bartholomew comes onto the scene …..

Liza Bartholomew is no stranger to me or McIntyre County but this time there a lot more at stake for her , her career is on the line , she’s out for vengeance and matters of the heart come into play , this girl has alot going on …

Shane realises that his crime spree is related to the manhunt Liza is on and against all odds he decides to work dose by side with her and they share professional stories and facts but also personal and things start get a little hairy when their friends and loved ones are in danger because of this case and while there was a threat I was scared they’d give up on each other but they drew their strength from one another and man I was on the edge of my seat want to close my eyes but then I’d drop my kindle and that’s not a good idea and I’ll have missed the good parts 🙈🤣

Each book is better than previous if that makes sense , it’s like red wine really it just gets better with age 😉

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Heidi Sturgess

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just want to start off by honouring the author for her acknowledgments I love and appreciate her faith and the fact that she doesn’t shy away from it and gives glory to Him 🙏🥰

I really have enjoyed being in McIntyre county and yes there’s , murder , drama and a bit of romance but I’m kept on my toes all the time ….

So Julie’s dad was the town sheriff years ago and get brother Ian and his girlfriend went on a murderous spree and then held his family at gunpoint , Jolie took her out while Ian is in jail , let’s just say their family dynamics are a little twisted ….

A young woman goes missing , hee father is dead and the local batman and military vet , Xavier ,is the prime suspect , he can’t remember anything so things aren’t looking good but Jolie feels it in her bibes , he’s innocent and she’ll going to all ends to prove it …..

Something doesn’t sit well with Jolie and this case she has a strong suspicion that it’s linked to a case many years back , when her dad was still sheriff, a girl by the name of Grace went missing and at the end of the day the case was closed and it was decided she ran away ! At first I was like come again !?
But as the story unfolds you realise the manipulation that actually went on and it’s a shocker I tell you .
I kept thinking it was one person and only near the very end I find out who it is and I’m like WHAT!?

Well done on Jolie for following Xavier’s advice , following her instincts and not giving up 😉 another brilliant read😉

Also it was good to catch glimpses of old friends from previous book 📕🤗

The McIntire County Series is an amazing book series that continues from the first book to the fourth book, with each book building upon the characters who each have a new case to solve. I love a good suspenseful story, and this one did not disappoint me in any way at all. I loved that we finally read about the Sheriff, Shane Hamilton, and understand why he acts the way he does throughout this series. You get this feeling that something is weighing on his mind and body, but it never even hints at what could possibly be on his mind. I loved that Liza Bartholomew gets to rejoin the story line, not only as an FBI agent, but also as a love interest for Shane, who has kept his heart locked up ever since the horrible tragedy that struck his life many years prior. What an amazing read this was, it holds you captivated throughout the entire story, with never a dull moment. You see so many unexpected twists and turns and fear for the safety of your favorite characters. Winter Austin is one of my favorite authors for writing thrilling suspense series, I even got my teenage son hooked on her books. I cannot wait to see what else she has available to read, as well as looking forward to more books yet to come. You will not want to miss reading this hit book series.

This book takes us on the case of a missing girl and trying to figure out who has been taken her. Jolie Murdoch is a new Deputy on the force who is trying to locate her. She stumbles upon the girls father, deceased, and already has a prime suspect. Xavier Hartmann, an ex Marine that got injured by an IED, is the local bartener and the prime suspect in question, but he doesn’t remember anything. Did he do it? While Jolie works the case the true culprit is out there trying to hinder the investigation and keep Xavier from being a free man. Will she be able to solve the case? I love how the author has brought us something new in each book. As always this can be read as a standalone, but why only read one book in the series? The characters also are wonderful as always and there is always such growth as the story progresses. It has been a great ride so far and now I’m on my way to digging into book number four.

FBI agent Liza Bartholomew is back in Eider, Iowa after tracking a scam artist there. She has been tracking this man for years and may finally have him cornered. The town Sheriff, Shane Hamilton, is dealing with a couple homicides and a bunch of arsons. Although he at first stops Liza at every turn it soon gets discovered that their cases may be connected and forces them to work in close proximity. Will they be able to get along well enough to stop the perpetrator? The McIntire County Series has been fun to read. It was a a four book series, and this being book four it looks like the end of the line unfortunately. It is sad the series is over (for now) but I do hope there will be others. This book can be read as a standalone, however as some of the characters are recurring I do highly suggest reading this series from the beginning. I’m sure you will come to enjoy the series just as much as I did.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin. I have loved this series so much and I loved this book the most! It’s the story of Sheriff Shane Hamilton who has just won another election. The election was very hard and he has taken off for a quite weekend away. While he’s away his phone begins to blow up because a body has been found. Now his weekend away is gone. FBI agent Liz Bartholomew has come back to Eider, Iowa not of her own free will but because of a case. The suspect she is after has last been spotted there. She is not looking forward to running into the Sheriff but knows its inevitable. They have a history even though it didn’t end up pretty. When her case goes wonky she has to work with Shane and even though those old feelings come back she is trying to ignore them. Shane is not in the market for a relationship either but can’t help his feelings when he starts working with Liz again. Such a good mystery/romance!

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

This is book three in the McIntire County Series. Jolie Murdoch is the newest deputy in McIntire County. Her first job is to find a missing girl. While looking for the girl, Deputy Murdoch finds herself in front the suspect (the father of the missing child). The problem is that he is dead but he is not alone. There enters Xavier, a former marine who has a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), finds himself in some unwanted attention for the death of the missing girl’s father. However, he doesn’t remember any thing that happened before, during or after because he blacked out. It’s a lot of twist and turns in this one, but Winter Austin really has a knack for bringing all the twists and turns into an amazing story. I would like to point out, that I am reading these book out of order, I don’t recommend that you do. I should have started with book one and worked my way down but I will finish this series.

This is book four in the McIntire County Series. FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew follows the information about an elusive scam artist whom she has been looking for to Eider, Iowa. Sheriff Shane Hamilton is not very thrilled with an FBI agent in his county. Little did Shane know that this Liza would be the opening he needed in his personal life as well as his professional life.  Love, anger, resentment and a little sass is throughout the story. I could not put this book down!!!!! I literally read it from Sun Up to Sun Down. It had me on my seat the entire time. There are dead bodies, fires, and a some drama from the police department. I promise you that this book is one of the many that you will not be able to put down.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Liar, Liar is book four in the McIntire County series and is a standalone story that is easy to follow without reading the previous three. I DO still recommend reading them in order if you can, for some back story and character development that (for me) makes the story so much better. This time around, we are focusing on Sheriff Shane Hamilton. After quite the year, he just wants some down time and quiet time to himself to reflect on all that has come to pass. That wish comes to an abrupt halt when his phone starts ringing nonstop and a body is found. FBI Liza Bartholomew gets word of the murder and is pulled back to Eider, Iowa…a place she thought she would never have to return to. Now the suspect she is chasing may know she is on the trail and her entire cover could be blown. It doesnt take long for the two to realize their cases are connected, and are forced to work together to find the killer before anyone else is found dead. A reluctant partnership becomes a bit more friendly, and a romance starts to bud. Liar Liar is a great addition to an already amazing storyline, and the plots keep thickening and twisting with each book. These are books you will want to read in one sitting, but be aware that not all the answers are always given! The not-so-clean endings can be frustrating but keeps you coming back for the next one.

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the fourth book in the McIntire County series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the others first.
As usual the author’s writing style is great, flowing well and descriptive, creating vivid imagery of characters and scenery. There were plenty of twists and secrets in this book and I think the plot has a lot of potential to be incredible, but this was my least favourite of the series so far.
This was an enjoyable story overall, but the characters are what tampered my enjoyment in this one. I really enjoy the series, but there was something about the characters that didn’t have the same realism for me. I felt for them both, and it was great that the emotion was there with their difficult pasts but as the story progressed the character interactions became less believable.
Overall this was enjoyable and I look forward to more.

Liar, Liar is the fourth book in The McIntire County Series and is a wonderfully written Suspense Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This author knocked it out of the park yet again her style of writing, attention to detail along with complex yet developed characters make for a epic story. This is a fast paced story about Shane and Liza and their determination to find the killer before it’s to late. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Another great story by the author, great character and world building! Add in suspense, action, romance and a very well written story that keeps you hooked all the way to the end. I really appreciate that the author connects the characters from prior books in the series. When a dead body is found, Sheriff Hamilton decides to cut his personal time of reflection short to search for the murderer. Soon Sheriff Hamilton finds that his case is matching up with FBI agent Liza Bartholomew’s case. What will come next?
I highly recommend reading this series in order. I hope you are enjoying these books as much as I have!

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin

We are back in the Eider police department, this time following the story of Sheriff Shane Hamilton following his “just barely” win of the election. On top of the win causing blowback, Sheriff Hamilton is dealing with two homicides and multiple cases of arson. Add the work stressors rising to the distraction of a personal anniversary, he is wanting nothing more than a bit of time to sort his feelings and emotions regarding it all.

Unfortunately, FBI agent Liza Bartholomew appears in that same time frame on a tip that a scam artist she has been pursuing for years has been spotted there. Liza has a history with Eider, and coming back was never in her plan. With a thirst for vengeance on behalf of the victims and racing to protect her career, Liza refuses to let the town sheriff hold her back, no matter what he may stir in her. When they realize their cases are connected, they have to decide to work together, in spite of their feelings on relationships and their chemistry, as well as the high stress cases and Liza ending up back in Eider.

Really have enjoyed the Eider PD series, the characters are likeable, the suspense is palpable, the writing is compelling and keeps you flipping the pages. There’s romance, danger, trauma, some steam, bad guys and the good ones who pursue them.

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the McIntire County series, this can be read as a standalone but to get a deeper understand of the characters and past events which link them, I would recommend reading from book 1. In this instalment we followed Jolie and Xavier.
As with the previous books in the series, the writing style is easy to follow and the descriptive language pulls you into the story, allowing you to picture both characters and scenery.
I found the characters of Jolie and Xavier particularly interesting; their pasts were what interested me most and how this affected them. Jolie, a new deputy in charge of finding a missing girl, faces the pressure from her family and what makes her different and intriguing to me. It’s not just the usual pressures, her brother is a killer and the effect of this on her was shown quite well, I think. She’s determined and continues looking into the case and the new elements despite being given the ‘easy’ answers. I enjoyed her character development as she reminded me a little of myself in being unsure of herself, but her confidence grows, and you can see her really coming into her own. She’s one of my favourites so far.
I look forward to the next one!

Liar, Liar
By: Winter Austin

Once again, Winter Austin delivers an amazing story filled with suspense that will keep you reading late into the night. Winter Austin is one of my favorite authors due to the fact that she writes believable stories filled with well developed characters. Each of these characters is flawed in a way that is believable and you find yourself invested in the characters as well as the plot line. Each book can be read as a standalone, however, I recommend reading each one because there is backstory on the characters that definitely develops throughout the earlier books. Book 4 focuses on Sheriff Hamilton. He was hoping to have some quiet time to himself, however, a body that was discovered has different plans. Liza is an FBI agent who is following a suspect who is taking her back to Eider. Eider is somewhere she’d rather not be. However, she finds herself entangled with this body that was discovered. As she works on the case with Sheriff Hamilton, she realizes there might be something else worth returning to Eider for. I definitely enjoyed this story and truly recommend it as I do all Winter Austin books! I cannot wait to see what will happen next with the cast of characters in Eider, Iowa.

Winter Austin did it again with another amazing, suspenseful romance book! I love reading The McIntire County Series, it grabs your attention and keeps you guessing throughout the book as to whether the missing girls will be found, whether is Xavier a killer, and who is taking the girls. Will Jolie be able to clear Xavier, or will she find out the man she is falling for is the murderer? I love that all of the characters that we have met in the other books in the series continue to make appearances in this series and that we get to continue to watch them grow in their families. I love that we not only get to see inside the mind of another retired marine but also the workings of a small-town police force and how they all work together to keep their county safe.

This story is all about Jolie, the sister of Ian, one of our bad guys from Book #2, who is now performing her deputy duties as well as learning how to step up to do some investigative work as well. We also get to know more about the mysterious Xavier and why he has been laying low, keeping his business all to himself, until he’s thrown into the spotlight when he’s suspected of killing the missing girl’s father. Xavier blacked out, and doesn’t remember anything, but will he be able to work through whatever is ailing him to help clear himself of this guilty sentence, or did he commit the crime? I am so excited to start reading Book #4 and see who our next main characters will be so that we will get a deeper understanding of their lives and tackle another mystery.

Once again Winter Austin delivers a fantastic suspenseful novel from McIntire County. I have to say that each one of this series is better than the next. I am truly loving these characters and this county. As always, Winter Austin combines wonderful complex characters with a thrilling plot that keeps you guessing until the very end. Jolie is a fantastic character, she is new deputy who seems to be facing the most curious case she has ever seen. Xavier is a man who definitely has seen more than his fair share of difficulties. And it seems that those difficulties are definitely not ending. In this book, Winter Austin continues to tackle the subject of veterans who come home with more than they bargained for. I completely feel that she is doing an amazing job at crafting these stories. I am truly loving these and each one is giving me more and more reasons why Winter Austin is becoming one of my favorite authors!

This is book 2 in the series and I highly recommend you start at the beginning of the series , not only is it a brilliant read but you’ll not enjoy the full experience of this series as characters and incidents intertwine .

Nicolette Rivers , our marine sniper from Atonement , is now living a good and happy life but her sister Casey is the deputy in Elder but she bears the scars physically , mentally and emotionally from her run in with the serial killer from Atonement, she is a tough cookie though and faces her fears head on .

There’s a new “war” to fight now , random robberies , a dead officer , blackmail etc and the. To top it all there’s matters of the heart involved when she has to work side by side with her d flame FBI agent Boyce Hunt , these 2 have some unfinished business as it is and their flame is smouldering and despite all that’s going on their passion. Is rekindled …..

Expect the unexpected, you’ll be kept on your toes throughout this read of that I can assure you 🥰📚
We get to know more of Cassie and who she is and what makes her tick which was nice because we only met her in Atonement and she played a vital role .

There was a moment where I swear my heart stopped ! Cassie and Hunt are held up in her home and all I could of was her past trauma and how it would effect her and her reactions but fear not this Amazonian warrior took the bull by the horns , a real and true survivor! You left me in awe girl !

Another brilliant, hair raising and nail biting read ❣️📚can’t wait to read the next instalment .

I really like reading a book series and this one hasn’t disappointed me yet. The author does a great job of world and character building. I especially like that we’re provided with a different character, Jolie’s point of view in this book. She is a new member of the force and gets immersed in a case of a missing girl.
The story kept my attention, between the characters from earlier books, the new characters, some drama, and even a romance mixed in. All of that means I couldn’t stop reading!

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sins of the Father is the 3rd book in the McIntire County Series. This installment follows new deputy Jolie Murdoch. For Jolie, law enforcement runs in her veins. Her father was the previous sheriff and her cousins are Nic and Cassy from the previous books. New on the force, Jolie is assigned the case of a missing girl, but then the girl’s father is found dead. Now she is tasked with not only finding the girl, if she is still alive, but finding the murderer of the father as well. Are they connected, and if so how? Who is to blame in one, or both, of the cases? Xavier came to town to escape his past, but when he is found over the dead body, he is suspect number one. It doesn’t help that he has no memory of how he got there, or what led up to that point. Sins of the father is told from different character POV so you get “inside the heads” of each one, and can really relate to them in some aspects. I love the McIntire series and can’t wait to read the next one. 5 out of 5 for me.

When he discover that they have found a body, he decides to investigate the case but can he find the murderer but can he find the killer before more bodies are discovered.

Liza Bartholomew is back in the small town of Eider, tracking the evidence of the one that got away, back in action but can she find him this time, but when the case takes a turn and she has too join forces with the Sheriff can they work together to solve the murders.

This is the four book in this series and is just as thrilling and full of twists and turns as the other books. The book can be read as a stand alone story but some of the characters do inter change within the four books, Liza was first introduced in book two and the sparks flew off the page then but in this book you get to see more behind the woman and the drive. This book is full of twists and turns which have you turning the pages of the book and nearly reading this book in one sitting.

You also get to see the intense passion of Shane and some of his back history which adds to the story and you get a better insight to what makes him tick.

Another great story and can’t wait to read more in the future.

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series Book 4) by Winter Austin – Review by Brandy Vaughn

Liar, Liar (The McIntire County Series: #4)Liar, Liar by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book four in The McIntire County Series. While it’s always better to read a series of books in order, I think these do well as stand alone novels. Liar, Liar is an intriguing storyline with plenty of twists, suspense, and romance to keep the pages turning. I have read the previous three books in the series and this one doesn’t disappoint!

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series Book 3) by Winter Austin – Review by Brandy Vaughn

Sins of the Father (The McIntire County Series: #3)Sins of the Father by Winter Austin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book three in The McIntire County Series. It’s awesome to see a story where the PTSD of our veterans is part of the plot. Sins of the Father brings great awareness to combat PTSD. Place as a character makes the novel more interesting and secrets as a web with which all the characters are connected. I kept thinking about the characters and how the book was going to end. There is just enough romantic suspense to keep the heat between the characters going. The romance wasn’t over done and I liked that part. This book was a page turner for me!

I can’t get enough of this series and this writer’s stories!! They grab you from the first sentence and hang onto you until the last word. Each story is full of adventure, mystery, romance, suspense, and lots of shenanigans.

This story focuses on Sheriff Shane Hamilton. He’s had a pretty rough year and that election was something else. Coming up on a very trying anniversary, Shane is looking forward to having some private time to think back over the memories of the past 19 years. When his phone starts ringing off the hook and messages are blowing up the line, he soon learns that a body was found and his idea of a private weekend is now blown to pieces.

FBI Agent Liza Bartholomew wasn’t planning to return to Eider, Iowa anytime soon. She’d rather not ever step foot back there after the last adventure she had. However, her latest suspect is leading her to Eider and some familiar faces she hasn’t seen in awhile. Trying to keep a very low profile, Liza gets word of a murder when she stops at a local convenience store. Her cover may be blown and her suspect now might get word of her arrival. Everything is blowing up in her face and her plans are shot.

When the sheriff and the FBI Agent end up realizing their cases are connecting and they find themselves spending more time together, feelings start to erupt that neither one wanted initially. The romance build is fun to read about these two!

I highly recommend reading these books in order as the back story is important to really understanding the characters in this series. I’m sure it could be read as a stand alone but there will be some important features lost. I’ve really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for more from this author!

I love Winter Austin’s books. I think this story is my favorite of the McIntire County series though. Jolie and Xavier make me fan myself. Jolie is on the search; will she prove Xavier is innocent or is he the one with the little girl? A wonderful ride of adventure and romance, that will keep you reading for hours!
