This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last. I really enjoyed this fantasy novel and the author was able to take me to a whole new world that I enjoyed. This book is YA, extremely YA. But it was nice pallet cleanser because I don’t often read alot of YA. Even being geared towards a younger audience, the author was able to hold my attention and the story line and writing were well done.
This story has action, suspense & even has a few gods that made the story that much more unique. The twist and turns were great too! I am looking forward to reading more by this author and I would recommend this to anyone that likes fantasy and YA paranormal stories!
Happy Reading!

Alice Will is a must read. The main character simply had me in awe. To be so young but so brave and strong. Trotter is an amazing 14 year old. Through the whole story you will be struck by how mature she is. To be this young and have so much resting on your shoulders. The author really put this story together well. I couldn’t put it away. The plot was well thought out and the characters complimented each other very well. There were some shocking moments that had me like what why. But overall it was really enjoyable to read this story. The crossing between realms was magical. The level of danger these demigods had to face to try and save the world had me on the edge of my seat. As a mom I was in a panic like lord if this was my child. To be able to create worlds that others can’t even imagine is a truly amazing gift. This is my first book by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m excited to get book 2.

I will preface this by saying this is not my go to genre to read, but I was drawn in by the cover and then the synopsis. I have to say I am so glad I made that jump to read this! It took just a bit to get used to the way of writing but then it just faded to the background and we were off on an amazing story.
I had parts i didn’t care for and others that were so good I had to read again, but these are my opinion and may be someone else’s in a different way.
I loved reading about Trotter and Alice.
I will be reading more from this author, very great story teller and helped me visualize this whole book in my head!

This is a fantasy novel involving gods, magical beings and humans. It is unlike anything that I have read before. It truly is a unique and original story. Reality isn’t always what it seems, it depends on who’s telling the story. Trotter is a demi god trying to understand her powers and trying to control them while being a fourteen year old girl. A war is coming that can tear the world apart and its up to her to save it. All the while there is a little girl that’s reshaping reality with her childish dreams and wishes. Unfortunately a six year old doesn’t realize the world is bigger than what’s around her. With the gods fighting amongst themselves and the human world caving in upon itself, can Trotter find the strength to stop the evil that is awakening and save a child’s hopes and dreams?

Alice Will is an incredible fantasy novel, written for all ages! It follows the perspectives of seven year old Alice, fourteen year old Trotter and her cat, Prowler, the goddess Miro and the god Stoicese. This is the first book from this author I have read and I was very impressed. I like to delve into the world of Gods and Demigods. I found that the author had quite a refreshing idea and story line. I really like it when I find new authors as well as series.

I really found that the characters were well written and that the reader could easily associate to them. Trotter’s character was one that I really was drawn to . I like the fact that she had a cat guardian. I found that I could relate to her as she struggled with her status of being a demigod. The parallel to real life being that one can relate to her struggle for her to relate with her father and then later when she learns the true identity of her mother. I found that the author really balanced the drama in this book keeping the reader glued to the page. I really liked the fact that Trotter was thought to have caused a lot of the troubles unbeknownst to the others it was Alice. I like how the book brings all the pieces together at the end and leaves it open for the series. I will definitely
be reading more from this author and series in the future.

So I really had zero idea what to expect of this novel when I picked it up. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading Ashley Chappell prior but I knew that I wanted to know what happened between the colorful and gripping cover of Alice Will: Dreams of Chaos. This book really sucked me in and took me on an unexpected adventure probably from page one. I have to say that is saying a lot because I normally don’t find books with talking animals very enjoyable. I suppose you could say I am a jaded adult and just seem to not enjoy them. Yall this book took that prejudice and threw it right out the window. I loved how this book played with philosophical ideas and made them fun to read about. I am struggling to find the words to properly describe this book without giving away too much or simply repeating the already existing synopsis. Just prepare to expect the unexpected and get swept away into a world you won’t want to soon leave. I am so excited to get my hands on the next installment!

Alice Will: Dreams Of Chaos by Ashley Chappell a four-star read that will whisk you away. Alice and Trotter are both very complex characters, they each face different difficulties but, in some ways, they face the same. This is a great young adult fantasy series, it has the best qualities of the genre, showing us the difficulties young people face and how together they can share the burden. This has great highs and depths that will have laughing and then feeling despair and compassion. This shows us a great start to what I hope is a great series, I haven’t read the author before, but I will be keeping an eye out now. This is a great story, of powers and gods and worlds that will keep you in suspense and surprise you at every turn.

You follow the main character, Trotter a 14-year-old girl as she goes on an adventure of gods and discovering her powers. The beginning was somewhat slow for me but before I knew it I was halfway through the book! In the back of the book, you get a list of all the gods and what they are the gods of. It helps when reading and keeping all the gods straight it also helps keep the stories straight. The ending is great and it ties everything together adequately.

They say never judge a book by its cover, but I will admit it’s the cover that had me to pick this up to begin with, I wanted to follow the girl on the cover on whatever adventure she was about to go on, and I was not disappointed. Ashley Chappell does an absolutely fantastic job setting up the world in which Alice Will takes place I wanted to jump in and live in this world with Trotter and Prowler myself. Her descriptions of places I felt I was actually there with Trotter & sidekick Prowler, and with Alice. It had everything, humor, adventure, magic, twists, and several moments where I couldn’t put it down even well past my bedtime, So much so It was worth nearly falling asleep in class the next day more than once. It made me feel such a sense of adventure and excitement I hadn’t felt since my childhood years reading about a certain boy who lived under some stairs. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series to see where this goes!

I found Trotter’s name to be unique and memorable and Alice’s age in this novel shocked me. I was very quickly attached to her young character and unique abilities. I also adored Prowler’s character as the most amazing feline ever. He was witty and perfect for that role. This book was amazing and I highly recommend it!

This YA fantasy novel is about 14 year old Trotter who is a demi god and trying to figure out her powers. We also follow 6 year old Alice who is a slave at an inn, Alice also doesn’t know she has powers. Alice has always wanted a proper family and writes how her day is going in a diary. But what she writes isn’t exactly how the day had gone, it’s how she wishes the day had gone. We follow both girls as they figure out their powers and join together to fight evil and find their happy endings. This story was very emotional in parts and also very humorous in others. Prowler is definitely my favourite character, he is an adorable cat who is Trotter’s guardian, who absolutely loves sea food! He sadly runs into trouble a few times and has to be reincarnated but he’s always positive about it. My only critique about the book is that I found it very slow paced for the first half, not a lot of action was happening. But it was worth it in the end and turned out to be a fantastic read! I really liked how at the end of the book it explains all the God’s and Goddesses as there is quite a few to keep track of.

Alice Will: Dreams of Chaos, Book 1, by Ashley Chappell is an awesome book. I’m almost at a loss for words to describe the complete ecstasy I’ve had reading this book. If I could give this book 10 Stars I would. The world that Ashley Chappell builds for us in this story is remarkable. The language is like butter. The characters are all striking and so unforgettable. Trotter who is our heroine in this story, you will bond with this young girl and the way that Ms. Chappelle writes you will feel what Trotter feels, you will be Trotter. Love and risk and sacrifice it’s all here. You need to make sure you’ve done everything you need to do because once you get to the middle of the book you won’t do anything else till you finish.

Alice Will: Dreams of Chaos Book 1 by Ashley Chappell – Review by Anantha Rusum

Alice Will: Dreams of Chaos Book 1Alice Will: Dreams of Chaos Book 1 by Ashley Chappell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The world in on the verge of war. The Gods are all set to fight against each other. A young demi-God, Trotter, who does not know her lineage and powers, finds herself in the middle of this epic battle, and before she realizes, the onus is on her to save the world.
There is the realm, the world of Gods and there is Aevum, the common world. There is a wedge, which connects these two worlds together. Gods are not supposed to cross the wedge and meddle in the life of humans, as per the signed Accord. But one demi-God, Alice breaches this accord by unknowingly tapping into her powers and alters the course of the world. This wakes up all the dormant Gods, both good and evil. Evil tries to reach out to Alice to change the course of events further and bring back the God of war, who had been tricked and trapped by the other Gods to maintain peace in the world. Now the good Gods reach out to fourteen-year-old- Trotter, to use her powers to stop Alice and the evil Gods, who are all set to seek their vengeance and destroy the world.
This is a typical fantasy young adult plot, but every book varies based on how the author constructs her plot and pours her imagination into the characters and the settings. I really liked the fantasy element in this book and how all the mythical creatures are described. The talking cat, the watching Falcon, the grotesque mermaids, and dangerous demons. There is the Canvas which holds the memories of one and all, a backdrop on which everyone can paint their own memories. So, the Gods who have access to this Canvas, can go back and forth and change the course of the World. All they have to do is to fiddle with a memory of someone, which can trigger a whole new set of actions. I loved this concept and the imagination is brilliant.
But I did feel a disconnect with the characters themselves, I felt they did not grow on me as much as I expected them to, at the beginning of the book. The destination matters and so does the journey. The relationships Trotter or Alice forge in their journey, do not seem deep as there is a constant rush to reach the end. Considering that the book is just about more than 300 pages, it falls trifle short to capture the huge appetite of the author. Too much happens in a very short span of time, and before you realize, you are at the climax. I felt there was not much need to tie up all the loose ends in this book. The author should have let somethings be, to be taken on in the subsequent books of the series. In the books of a similar genre, like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson or His Dark Materials, the loose ends are not tied till the very end of the series. Leaving this apart, the book is a very enjoyable read.
To summarize, a brilliant piece of work which triggers the reader’s imagination. I am very curious to read the second book, to see where this magical world leads to.

This box set is awesome! It has it all… romance, suspense, mystery and of course chocolate! All the things needed to make this an interesting read and a it’s a good one to waste away the day away with. Just don’t read these books on an empty stomach because the food and sweets discussed in this book sound down right sinful and I would love to try them all!
The characters in these books are another thing I should mention. They were fantastic. Even with the magic elements incorporated in them, they were relatable and they were extremely well liked. I couldn’t wait to see where their stories were going and I was sad when the end finally came around. I am looking forward to reading more by this author and I would recommend this box set to a friend!

The Confectioners Chronicles: The Complete Fantasy Mystery Series
By Claire Luana

The Confectioner’s Guild (The Confectioner Chronicles Book 1)
The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana is the first book in the Confectioner Chronicles series. I have to say I loved the prequel and this book is written just as well. The writing style of this author is quite enjoyable. The series is aimed at the YA readers but can be enjoyed by us adults as well. The author has made the characters in this book quite enjoyable and its was a pleasure to have read this book and I do look forward for more instalments. In this book we have mystery, magic and cooking. Not your normal mixture in a book but it works well. So, grab yourself a copy of the book and have an enjoyable time in getting to know not only the characters but the authors wonderful way of telling a story.

The Confectioner’s Coup
The Confectioners Coup is the second book in the Confectioner Chronicles series by Claire Luana. If you enjoyed the first book, then this book will not disappoint you at all. Get yourself ready to meet new characters which you will either like or dislike, but they help make this book enjoyable. I will say this book contains so much sadness and may take you on a roller coaster of emotions. But on saying that it has a few twists and turns that you want to keep turning the page. Book one is my favorite so far in this series, but I am looking forward to book three and a nicer ending.

The Confectioner’s Truth
The Confectioner’s Truth is the third and final book this series. Please don’t start with book three I wouldn’t recommend them read a standalone. We have the pleasure of meeting some new characters in this book, each one I feel enhances the storyline. Wren went through some time in self-doubt and tries to learn from mistakes she has made. Will she be able to learn and not make the same mistakes again? The only thing I did question was why so many couples, but all in all I enjoyed the book. The thing I liked about this series is I found most of the characters to have their own strengths, I could be wrong but that’s my personal opinion! I really liked how Claire just kept building up this series, sometimes I find the last book in a series to be disappointing, but not with this book. The Confectioner’s Truth has ended this series perfectly. I would also recommend anyone and everyone to read this series, you won’t be disappointed.

The Confectioner’s Exile: The Confectioner Chronicles Prequel Novella
The Confectioner’s Exile is the prequel in the Confectioners Chronicles series by Claire Luana. This novella you find will be a nice quick read and you will find it gives the background of Hale and when he joined the guild. Yes, this novella is short, but you will still find twists and turns, love and some adventure. I did enjoy the novella and I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

The Confectioner Chronicles: The Complete Fantasy Mystery SeriesThe Confectioner Chronicles: The Complete Fantasy Mystery Series by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Confectioner Chronicles: The Complete Fantasy Mystery Series by Claire Luana is a fun series to read. I recommend reading them in order because the series is in chronological order.
The first book in the series The Confectioner’s Guild starts the series. This book is full of mystery, magic, and cooking. Wren is an amazing cook and soon finds herself in the Confectioner’s Guild. Here she learns more about herself and that she has special magical powers. After the death of the head of the guild after eating her cupcake she learns more about not only herself but this guild that she has been brought into. The characters are well written and the story drew me in from the beginning. Not only is Wren a great character but there are also many others.
The second book is The Confectioner’s Coup continues this series. The story continues for Wren and things are not looking good for her and others in the guild. Guild members are going missing and the King is out of control. I have enjoyed this as well as the first book and the novella. The writing is well written and entertaining. This is a twist and turn thriller that at times kept me on the edge of my seat.
The Confectioner’s Truth is the third book. The story continues with Wren and the members of the guild. There is a new ruler who is beyond bad. He rules like a madman and things are not stable for anyone. I recommend reading the other books in the series. The characters have grown and matured through the course of the series. I enjoy Wren because she is not cocky or self-centered. She is unsure of herself and does not always make the best decisions. She is rash at times and at other times she is centered and in total control. These traits make her easy to relate. There are many past characters who are back and some new ones as well.
The Confectioner’s Exile by Claire Luana is a prequel novella to The Confectioner Chronicles. This is the backstory of Hale Firena and his life. He has always had everything he could possibly want but his life changes drastically. He must learn how to survive without relying on others. I really enjoyed this prequel and read it before I read book 1. The writing is great and the action was also good. After reading this novella I was even more excited to read the series.

THE DREAMERS VENGEANCE is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the visual writing. It is a story with great world building and lots of detailed character. This book drew me in right from the beginning. It is an original plot that I found intriguing. The author made this book so enriched with details that I could feel like I was right there in the thick of it. I read this book in one sitting because I so hooked I needed to know how the prophecy would be fulfilled. The characters came to life for me as I read and it wasn’t until I got further into the story that I could discern between who was good and who was evil. This is the first book I have read by this author but it will not be my last. The author did such an exceptional job weaving a wonderful fantasy world full of magic and so much more. In search for answers to this illness 17 year old Caexia goes on a journey that leads her to Syrus a human who charms Caexia resulting in the birth of a child at the same time his forgotten wife has a child as well. Does all of this play into the foretold prophecy? Aliana may be part human but a certain wrath can be brought on at any give time. This is a fast moving read that will keep you guessing til the end.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Helen Tyree is a new author to me and for my first read from her, I read the brilliant Dreamer’s Vengeance. I was totally drawn to this book just by reading the synopsis and then it made it even better by it being a fantasy read. I’ve been reading a lot of books lately that are very mentally visual and this book is no different. This book has action and adventure and it flows from chapter to chapter with a great pace that was easy to follow.
Another brilliant thing with this read was the characters I couldn’t wait to see where their journey would take them.
I’m so glad I got to experience this read it is a book that holds you captive until the very end!

I cant wait to see what else this author brings. I will be on the lookout for all of Helen Tyree’s future books.

My first read by this author and very intriguing indeed. YA fantasy with a synopsis that has you hooked from start to finish.

All characters are beautifully written, and so full description that you can almost feel like your in the world with them. Truly magically. Cant wait to read more from Helen
