This is a GREAT story that gives you insight into the life of a young girl with autism. I liked that it gave perspective from both the parent/outside view and the thoughts of Emerson. It is easy to make judgements based on behavior, but we forget to think about the frustrations of a person with Autism. The author did a nice job of telling Emerson’s story.

This book was incredible, it was filled with action, adventure, revenge, betrayal, and just so much more that it kept me wanting to read till the end. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book other then I did not read the first two books so I felt a little lost and confused because something were not answered or explained which could be things I missed in the other books. This book was so well written thou I felt like I was right there with the characters dealing with the issues and story with them, it was very entertaining and wonderful world. This book was a page turner, and I couldn’t put it down even thou I was not caught up with everything from the other books. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

As the mother of several teenagers, I know the struggles they have everyday. In this book you see those teen struggles from the point of view of Emerson, who has autism and is non-verbal. I have seen non-verbal individuals and had no understanding of what they were going through. This book I feel gave me a glimpse of the complexities that are going on in a person’s mind even if they can not express it to the world.

What a beautifully written book about the life of Emerson and her parents. Emerson lost her words at 15 months of age when diagnosed as having autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This book chronicles the challenges and victories that she has, along with those around her.
This book had me experiencing a variety of emotions at any given time. As a parent of a young adult with ASD, I could recognize many of these factors that Emerson is going through. It’s difficult to understand ASD at all but for those experiencing it, it’s scary.
I hope and pray that this book can be used to inspire others who are on this journey to never give up on themselves or their loved ones. This ultimately is a story of triumph but shows the scars (literal and figurative) earned along the way.
This book is recommended for young adults with ASD and I agree but would also recommend it for parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, and friends of anyone with ASD.

The Lone Star Child is the third book in The God’s Scion Series and is a Sci-Fi/ YA that is packed with action, adventure, drama, revenge, hatred, betrayal, greed and so much more. I somehow started this series in the middle and plan on going back to read the first book .I have questions that need to be answered and im betting my answers will be in it. With that being said I felt a bit confused in some places but I still truly enjoyed reading this book . After a millennia the time has come to show no mercy as the monsters are now coming. Caro is missing and no matter what they have done they can’t find her. What trouble has she gotten herself into now? I highly recommend reading this book find out what happens next . I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series

Non-Verbal by Molly Zenk is a moving Young Adult fiction book that is inspired by a true story. This story delves into the life of Emerson Rayne who has a more severe form of Autism which impacts on every facet of her being.
I really felt for Emerson, and her family as they struggled through their journey. All the challenges they faced not only in their day-to-day lives, but also is trying to get the support and treatment for her special needs.
This story highlights some of the challenges and difficulties a severely autistic person, and their families, experience. There are some heart-breaking and scary moments, lots of emotion, and some more inspiring and hopeful parts- all wrapped up in a well-written and thought-provoking story.
Well worth the read!

The Vassal of Magic is the third book in CB’s captivating The Virus of Beauty series. Make sure to start at the beginning of this series with The Virus of Beauty and The Veil of Corruption as each book follows on from the other.
This well plotted and highly imaginative tale is original and unique. It is fast paced Young Adult fantasy tale has magic, witches and wizards. The Vassal of Magic is set in beautiful magical realms and is action-packed, rife with danger, palpable tension, with lots of mystery and suspense.
CB’s world building is cleverly woven together with a well-developed quirky cast characters to draw readers in.
Can Wilf tap into his full potential to combat the evil that threatens the realm and to save the girl of his dreams? The pages keep turning as we travel along with Wilf and the many twists and turns that he has to face.
If you love YA fantasy fun adventure tales you will like this book. You don’t have to be a YA to read it though!

Non-Verbal is a Young Adult story based on a true story. Apparently, it is recommended for teenagers 10 – 18 years. This young woman was labelled as having an autism spectrum disorder, having sensory processing disorder, and an intellectual disability as well as being functionally non-verbal. That is a lot of labels.
It is a moving and captivating story about Emerson who is severely autistic and unable to verbalise in words, but she does have a voice. It is a story told by her that will make your heart ache. We see how she navigates her world and what it is like to be present but talked about like she doesn’t understand. We watch as her stressed and over protective parents fight not only with her to keep her safe but for her and to get her the support and treatment she needs.
I have a grandson who is low on the Asperger’s spectrum and has auditory processing disorder and I know the struggles we faced in getting the help he needed.
It is easy to feel for these people that evoke such strong emotions.
With friendships, bullies, Emerson’s self-harm behaviours, and mental and emotional issues we truly see how life is for this vulnerable young woman and people like her.
Non-Verbal is a thought-provoking and moving story.

I chose to read this book because we think my daughter has a higher functioning Autism and can’t get her tested for it for another year. I love how the story tells about the daily struggles Emerson goes through being a teenager who has non verbal Autism. I felt like the book was relatable because I have a friend who’s son is non verbal with Autism. If you don’t know much about Autism, I feel like this book can teach you a lot about it. The details was great. I have no complaints at all who this story was written. I think it was written beautifully!

This is a glimpse into what it is like for Emerson to live with Autism. It is a very unique perspective to see things through her eyes and ears. I have a sister who is non-verbal and we have always wondered about what she understands and what she doesn’t. This book will challenge how we speak to and think about those who don’t have words to express what they are feeling inside.

This book is an amazing insight of what it’s like being nonverbal and a teenager. There are many issues that present themselves in the teenage years but what if you can’t voice them and tell someone how everything feels. I really enjoyed reading this book and seeing how Emerson’s mind works and how she deals with it day to day. A great read to help you understand what it is like to be nonverbal.

Being an educator, I absolutely fell in love with Emerson and her struggles to fit into a verbal, speaking world; I love trying to put myself in students’s shoes to enhance my practice. Noneducators and educators alike will find her very likable, and the realism in the book between the interactions between Emerson and her parents, parents and the teachers, etc. make the story very realistic and poignant to any reader.
Be warned, however, to have tissues nearby- Emerson tries so hard to adapt and find her place in the world, I got a little teary with her struggles (which I normally don’t with books). The writing is wonderful, I didn’t put it down until I finished the entire book in one sitting. Molly Zenk captures the teenage world perfectly and makes one aware of a very difficult time period for a special girl Emerson.

The amazing ending to a magical journey. Oh, I have enjoyed traveling with Wilf on this trip as he learned about his magic and the adventures he was on to save his family and the magical world. This story was full of adventure, drama, a little of everything you could ask for. It all fit together and came together so nicely to bring a close to this trilogy. The characters have been just that. The author has give them such personalities that some of them, like Ermentrude, felt like they might be your cranky neighbor. All Wilf ever wanted to do was the right thing. This has been an amazing series. I do recommend reading from the first book, it will make more sense.

Fantastic book. As the parent of an autistic adult and 4 autistic grandchildren, I feel that the author has done a really good job of writing and giving the perspective of both the parents and of Emerson. Their life is complicated. I couldn’t put this book down. It grabbed my heartstrings and just kept me reading all the way through. All the emotions were felt. I will be buying and gifting this one to friends and teachers. It is deserving of more than 5 stars if I were allowed to give it more than that. Excellent book that I fell all should read.

This book was not a normal book I would choose to read. I did not think I’d enjoy it like I did. I have a genre of book I stick with but I jumped out of my comfort zone and fell in love with Winnifred Tataw’s writing. I went and got the first three books so I could better understand The Lone Star Child. I recommend reading them in order. Great series full of wonder and adventure.

This is the 3rd book in The God’s Scion series. This is a fast paced sci-fi adventure which will keep you turning pages from beginning to end. I do highly recommend reading the other 2 books in the series first so you get a complete picture of the characters and their world because the author’s writing really creates the magical worlds and adventures.
Caro is the Space Acolyte. When she is kidnapped this starts a series of events that the God’s don’t even realise is coming. There is something stopping the other Acolytes from finding her. There are secrets that will be revealed. Secrets that currently mean that they can’t find Caro.
Where is she? Has she been taken? If so by who?
Caro finds herself trapped with an enemy that had a millenia to plot their revenge against the people that made them outcasts. All they need is the help of one Space Acolyte. Now they sense their freedom is near and the chance for them to get their revenge is close and the best part is the God’s won’t even see it coming.
Can the other Acolytes find and rescue Caro before its too late? What will happen if the enemy succeeds in their play to get free and seek their revenge. And with so many secrets being reveled how will the Acolytes know how to trust.

This is the 3rd book of The Gods’ Scion series and my first book I picked up from this author and the story-line was fascinating and intriguing. I will definitely circle back and read the first two books as I feel like I may have missed some pieces and at the end the book it did provide a guide of zodiacs, races of earth, philosophies, time and planets. I wish this was at the beginning for me as well, but overall I really enjoyed this story.
Space Acolyte, Caro, goes missing and it is up to Milky, Roderick and the other acolytes including Scorpio and Sagittarius to save Caro before Ophiuchus does the unthinkable. Upon Caro’s capture, Ophiuchus tells Caro the reason…and can I tell you it was heartbreaking to me. Will Roderick and the other acolytes and zodiacs save Caro in time? Does this also impact overall healing between families?
This is a very good YA Fantasy that I would recommend especially if you like action, drama and healing.

The Lone star Child is the third book in the God’s Scion series. Unfortunately, I have not had the chance to read the other two books in the series but was still able to read this book. This Author wrote a wonderful young adult fantasy world to lose yourself in. This Fast-moving story takes you through a Mythological world with lots of Drama And intriguing characters. I Found this read entertaining and Wonderful. If you are into young adult Fantasy reads with family, drama, war, then this is the read for you I highly recommend you giving this read a try. Thank you to this wonderful author for writing this great read.

The Lone Star Child is the third book in The Gods’ Scion series by Winnifred Tataw. This follows on from the previous book, so I highly recommend reading the first two books before starting on this one as there is a continuing storyline here with important information contained in the first two books that you should know in order to avoid feeling a little lost here.
As with the previous books, this is another fantasy adventure with action, emotion, sci-fi elements, gods, revenge, family, loss, heartache, betrayal, magic, royalty, zodiac/astrology, powers, reconciliation, intriguing world-building, and interesting characters.
Ms. Tataw has created an intricate world with unique characters, lore, culture, and beliefs. There are magic and fantasy elements, all woven around things we are more familiar with- which makes the story all the more relatable and believable. She also provides a substantial reference guide at the end of the book full of helpful information.
The adventures continue in ‘The Sisterhood of Secrets’ (Book #4).

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. This is the third book which I highly suggest reading the previous books as well. This will help with your enhancement of this series and the characters. Caro is a great character that is the only chance at freedom. This time around there will be no mercy and the monster is now coming. This is a great fantasy story that took me on an adventure. An action, vengeful story that is hard to put down. One where the characters make the story come to life. They are connectable and kept me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. There is great growth of the plot throughout the story as well. This is one of my favorites in this series and can’t wait to see what the next book holds for us. I really enjoyed the adventure that I was taken on. I highly recommend this book.

Caro’s tale and full of family drama, fantasy, and star-hopping, this story was exciting right from the start. I do recommend you read books 1 and 2 first. Oh, this book is just as good as the previous. The characters are relatable. The story/plotline flows well. I found myself totally engaged as I read. I am guilty of having my phone glued to my palm so I could keep reading. The world-building and mythological fantasy of this series is so good and I have enjoyed it so much. This is a new author to me and I hope to read so much more from her.

I fell in love with this book. Roderick and his brother got to go on the journey of a lifetime. What a world-building experience this was. I found it to be full of action, fantasy, lots of just excitement. The characters kept me glued to the story. I couldn’t put it down. I sure am glad that my Kindle app is on my phone. I had to read every moment I had. Once you started, you just had to keep going to see what was coming next. It’s a tremendous fantasy story that is well-developed.

This Young Adult sci-fiish story is full of revenge and hatred, want and fear, action and drama, broken dreams and promises, betrayal and greed, monsters and war, family and relationships. The fantasy world Winnifred has created different and unique as it combines astrology, mythology, magic and more. The story is fast moving
After a millennia of being outcasts, thrown out into space like they were nothing they have had more than a life time to want, a long time to plot, to want revenge, to crush those who imprisoned them. Now their wait is over their wants and hopes of freedom are so close they can taste it. It all pins on one Space Acolyte, Caro. The Gods don’t even know what is coming for them.
Caro is missing and try as they might they can’t find her. What trouble has she gotten herself into? What secrets and lies are keeping the other Acolytes from finding her?
This intriguing story showcases Winnifred’s creativeness. I enjoyed the characters and the world she has created.

The author wrote this story out very well to where the reader didn’t want to put it down. Set in the 1600’s, which is also why I loved this – murder mystery with twists and turns. This book will keep you up and keep you turning the page to find out what happens next.

The year: 1665.
The problem: 15 year old Kenna has watched her sister die. She suspects her sister’s husband and thinks if she stays, she’ll be next.
So she runs. During her escape she is kidnapped and locked in at Stewart’s Close, an alley trapped in the poorest section of the city and there’s only one way out.
She’s accused of leaving a home struck by the plague and a guard is set at the gate to make sure no one enters, and no one leaves. Kenna wants nothing but to avenge her sister, if she can survive.
I found this book to be well written, however, it wasn’t my usual style of a read so I wasn’t fully involved in the story. I enjoyed Kenna’s determination and love she has for her sister. I think she’s a well done character with a heartbreaking story. You definitely find yourself rooting for Kenna and the misfit band she gathers along the way.

It is year 1665,in Scotland, and fifteen year old Kenna is struggling with her sister’s death. More than that, she discovers her sister did not die accidentally. Kenna suspects the culprit and murderer is none other than her sister’s husband, and she is now in danger herself. While on the run, a guard captures her in the poorest section of the city, Stewart’s Close. Accused of running from a home struck by plague, Kenna is locked inside the gates, where no one is allowed in or out. As word spreads that the young girl came from a home stricken with the plague, she is further isolated and shunned. Kenna has no food, money, or friends within these walls, and all she wants is to survive and avenge her sister. I am not accustomed to reading books set in this time period, but I love a good murder mystery. The author is new to me but I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure this story took me on. The plot was well written and easy to follow, and the character development was believable. I enjoyed that Kenna started out naive and scared but as the story matures, so does she. I really enjoyed learning that this book was also based on a real place and the amount of research done for the book is noticed in the subtle details. I definitely recommend this book and author.
