The story Caught in Cross Seas (the Caught Series book 1) by Sharleen Scott is a book that I loved reading. It has mystery, suspense, and romance. A combination that hooked me in from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put the story down until I had finished. The book had me trying to decipher clues and at times had me wondering what was going to happen next. I loved reading about the characters of Harlie Cates and Clay Masterson. Harlie is an independent, intelligent, kind, and caring person. She is a business owner and works hard to help others. She has found herself attracted to Clay Masterson. Clay is a country music superstar who is searching for a father that he was told is dead. His father was accused of murder. There are rumors that he is still alive. Clay is a man with a kind heart and a life that can at times seem crazy. His search for his father takes him to Angel Beach, Oregon. He there meets Harlie. Will Clay find his father in Angel Beach? Is what has sparked between Harlie and Clay turning into a serious relationship? What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down with the characters. There are moments that are sad and others that warmed my heart. There are miscommunications and situations that are complicated. There is also bantering between Clay and Harlie. I grew to care about Clay and Harlie with each chapter that I read. They are characters that I wanted to find happiness. There are also additional characters that I enjoyed reading about as well. The story has a smooth flow to it and is a fascinating read.
