I give Shadow’s Keep: A Novel by Meghan O’Flynn, 4 stars.

Deputy Sheriff William Shannahan struggles. There are many things holding him back. He feels like he is just playing a role. Until the vicious murders begin in their quiet little town. The first one is labeled a dog attack, but William has his doubts. He has a feeling there’s more to it. Can he discover what is really going on before even more bodies turn up? Or is it just his imagination, like everyone else seems to think?

This a suspense book like nothing I have read before. It is not what you think. It is very obvious from the beginning that William is quite broken. Everything he lived for is gone. But he still wants to serve and protect. So he tries to put aside his troubles for the better of his town. The story itself has William learning many things, taking him deeper into the mystery. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, guessing what it really going on until the end.

If you like suspenseful stories, this book is for you.
