Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Maura Harper

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“All attendees sat in anticipation of the wonderful event about to unfold.” This is the first line in JOURNEYS THROUGH SPACETIME and much like the attendees at that event, I cracked the binding of this book with much anticipation.

An incredibly detailed story with world building in many different universes and lots of characters pepper this multilayered story. At times I did find myself pausing to remember who was who and where was where. Once I grasped the cadence and rhythm of the story, the pages virtually turned themselves.

This was an enjoyable journey and I look forward to reading more from this author.

A Cowboy Under the MistletoeA Cowboy Under the Mistletoe by Susan Fisher Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a collection of stories that are full of romance, hot, sexy cowboys and will keep you warm on a cold night. There is a cowboy for everyone in this series and also a favorite author. It will make wishing for Christmas to come and getting one of these cowboys in your stocking. My favorite of these is Tempting a Cowboy. Johnson and Debra are great characters but they will go through life struggles where temptation could prove to be too much for them. This is a must read anthology.

This is my first book by this author, I loved it and can’t wait to see what is next. This is a well written story that took me on an emotional roller coaster. It has been awhile since I read a book that has taken me on this ride and this one certainly did. The characters are connectable and made the story realistic. This is about two people who have been hurt and really are in need of healing. Is it possible they can find that in each other? I highly recommend this book and find out.

I enjoyed this book. The author’s writing style and attention to detail made me feel as if I was right there in the story. There are many different characters, they made the story realistic and kept me reading. Of all of them, Hirisho is my favorite. This is a science fiction story that flip flops between a few different worlds but the story transitions perfectly. It is a story of space time travel as well as getting to see life on other universes, add some suspense. I highly recommend this book

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters
5 Stars

This book blew me away! Jamie A. Waters is an amazing storyteller. Her writing style reminds me of Sarah J. Maas in the way she pulls you into her world with captivating characters and a complex storyline. I fell in love with not only the main characters but the secondary ones as well. I’ve always loved strong female leads and Sabine is one kick ass lethal heroine.

She’s been on the run for the last ten years, hiding amongst humans. With two demons and a witch by her side to protect her she should be okay but the Wild Hunt never gives up. Sabine can’t help but be intrigued when a smuggler shows up with his own secrets to hide. She extremely attracted and his power is pulling her in but can Sabine trust him?

This is a riveting paranormal romance filled with action and intrigue that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I know this is a series that I’ll love and can’t wait to read the next part.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman is the first book in the Journeys Through series. This book is detailed and intricate and so immersive that you will really feel like you are right there with all the characters.
For a debut novel this book really was outstanding. The book is so complex and detailed that I found myself drawn in and lost in the story instantly. This was the kind of book that as soon as I had read it I had to immediately start it again. The first time I flew through the story because I enjoyed it so much with the second reading allowing me to add in all the detail I missed the first time round.
From the moment you start reading this book you can feel the author’s passion behind it. This comes through in every aspect – from the characters to the overall plot. For me this only served to draw me ever further into the story. I am genuinely blown away by how captivated I was by this book. Anyone that is a fan of this genre should give this book a try. It is easily one of the best books that I had read this year!

Piece of a Lie by Rowena Holloway is a gripping psychological thriller. This story pulled me from the beginning. This is a fast read but I warn you that you will want to keep a steady pace because I knew I missed a couple of crucial ideas (I did go back and reread the thoughts). Holloway is a great descriptive author. Her attention to detail is amazing. On top of the thriller going on there is a slight love story. Detective Lincoln is a new up and coming detective. He is trying to make a name for himself. In comes Mina, who Detective Lincoln is attracted to but will that be his underdoing? What happens where there is a body found? How does Slab Carlson. A crime boss fit into the picture? The answer to all these questions and more will be answered but will you figure out what is going on before the end?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman is the first book in the Journeys Through series. This is my first book by Talisman and I can already see that I will be looking to read more books by him in the future. The characters and scenery is beautifully descriptive and easily seen in your mind’s eye. This is definitely a work of passion for Talisman. The story plot line is that of a sci-fi story. It has all the good characteristics with time travel and multiple worlds all rolled up inside. There are some teaching moments with in the story to set the story up to the next level as well. There are some twists and turns which keeps the story moving and interesting. There were moments that I needed to revisit something I just read because I moved too quickly to get to the next page. So my warning is to really focus on what is happening because it is that amazing of a story. I cannot wait to see what Talisman has in store for us next.

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime is James Talisman’s debut novel, and the first in his Journeys Through series. It sits on the border between sci-fi and fantasy, with a story that transcends an array of times and places.
The story begins with an introduction to the different worlds we will encounter in the book, as characters in every setting have a similar, unsettling experience. Their stories unfold as they seek to understand the experience, and the reader seeks to understand what connects the strands of the story.
Talisman clearly has a passion for world-building, and readers are given a rich and detailed description of the many worlds the story inhabits. For the most part, it is easy to keep track of although there were times when I wished I had a paperback copy so I could refer back to the Dramatis Personae. The settings each very much have their own character, ranging from modern-day Earth to alien worlds that evoke ancient civilisations, each with their own cast of interesting and developed characters.
For me, this is a five-star book. It is a complex story that demands your full attention, and rewards with a rich tapestry of worlds held together by an original and engrossing story. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author!

This is an amazing adventure story. The multiverse has several worlds, all with their own stories and battles.

On every world there is a battle between good and evil, however what they dont realise is that they are all connected to each other, and they need to work together in order to win this battle.
Will good win over evil this time or is the evil force too strong to be beaten.

I really enjoyed this story once i got into it and kept track of the characters and how they are all linked. Its a really well written story and the characters are captivating.

5-Stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime is an excellent novel that pulls readers in immediately from page one! There is a strange presence introduced at the beginning that immediately caught my interest especially since it was leaving each individual introduced. With this, I want to mention that there are several characters from multiple universes in this book. Each of these individuals had excellent character development and Talisman provided a detailed back story for each.

I loved how organized and easy to follow the storyline was. There is specific wording and formatting notifying readers that the storyline is changing which helped me keep track of occurrences I’m the multiverse. I also enjoyed the beautiful setting described with each character. It was easy for me to visualize and place myself in the book at that point in time. This book is easily 5-stars and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Drawing Strength From Words by CA King was a fun read. I would give this book a four out of five stars. This is the second book in the series. I love Gabby! She is a fun character to read just because of how disconnected she is from the current time. She doesn’t let that stop her though, her competitive nature and need to prove herself is so relatable. I loved the air of mystery and being able to put the plot together as I go.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Protecting His Heart: A Lawson Family Novel by Tracey Cramer-Kelly is book two of the Lawson Family Series. This book can be read as a standalone but the series is so good you just have to start with book one. This book is very well written and once I started it I couldn’t put it down. There are many elements to this book. There was a bit of suspense that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat while reading.

Rachel has dreams for her life just like anyone else. She’s also given up dreams like a lot of people. She won’t give up on the idea of marriage and a family though. She thought her boyfriend was the right before for that dream but it turns out he may not love her like she loves him. That doesn’t stop her from being loyal and forgiving though. Ian moved back to town as the town Sheriff determined to protect the people. He didn’t have the easiest past and it seems to still haunt him at times. Will Rachel and Ian be able to fight their demons?

The characters in this book are so relatable and realistic that you would swear you know them. I couldn’t get enough of this book!

2Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3)Hitting The High Note by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great read about music. Bekka just wants to run her music shop and dreams of playing in an orchestra. Her plans are always put on hold and are disrupted by a series of robberies and a strange man dressed as a cowboy. As events unravel, she finds herself centre stage. Does music have a magic of its own?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Uriel the jester but vulnerable underneath or Bekka standing up for herself but anxious underneath.
I loved the visual detial throughout the novel like with the shop with the glass and sheet music fluttering on the wind, making destruction beautiful. Or the scenes in the gala with the colourful dresses and music full of colour and sound that was so vivid it’s as if you’re actually there.
I liked how it was Uriel’s story, switching the focus to another horseman for this book. The switch of perspectives worked well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names in chapter titles. I also liked how the artefact was something different from the usual chalice or spear usually found in these kinds of books made it fresh and exciting. The only issue I would raise is that it felt unclear why Uriel was dressed as a cowboy as it felt unnecessary. Fast paced action and high stakes in a fantasy story made for a captivating read. Overall a great read and I would give it four stars.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this story. I love these characters. I love this series and this author! Devil’s Due is book 3 in this MC series. There are so many twists and surprises in this story. A happy ending does not look like a guarantee and the ride to get there is a bumpy one to say the least!

The characters in this story are so tough and determined. They are loyal and smart. There are times of celebration for them with the birth of a baby and times of heartache when they lose their brother.
When the danger is finally put away, life should get easier.

This story is easy to read in that it flows well. You can always tell who is talking or thinking. There is no wondering as to what the heck is happening. You wonder how the characters will ever survive their heartache though!

I have already one-clicked the next book in this series! I suggest you start with book one and get caught up!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you love time travel, flexible reality, multiverse theory, and sci-fi/fantasy, this is a great read. If you have difficulty following multiple story lines in a book, this is probably not going to be a fun read for you. Personally, I like a complex story to keep my brain engaged.

One of the things I resonated with were the Seven Principles that were introduced toward the beginning of the story. It reminded me so much of the principles I learned on my personal journey as a Priestess. It’s hard to find stories that convey these principles in mainstream books.

Journeys Through SpaceTime has a wide variety of interesting characters. I liked that diversity because it added depth to the reading experience.

I appreciate the amount of thought that went into creating this adventure!

Journeys Through SpaceTimeJourneys Through SpaceTime by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through Book 1) by James Talisman is a sci-fi story and is his debut book. It is a unique and interesting tale that he has lovingly shared with us. You can tell he has written the story with passion and poured his heart and soul into it. The characters were many and varied as the story takes place, as the title says, through spacetime with multiple species and races and worlds you can only imagine. James writing, descriptions and depictions are very detailed and you can easily imagine what the words portray. The concept of All-That-Is is intriguing and many will relate to some of the teachings/concepts that James has given us in the book. To that end it is a complex story with multiple layers and sometimes I had to re-read something just to take it all in and absorb what was being said. I also felt that the story could have been told with less words. That being said I look forward to see what James comes up with next.

If you love sci-fi grab a copy and settle in for a unique tale that will get you thinking.

The characters each have something unique that drew me into their story and made me not want to leave. There was definitely times I wanted to smack a character but that made it all the more intense a read. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Characters are complex and relatable while completely captivating. I won’t be forgetting these characters anytime soon. I loved this story and can’t wait for more. From the time I was a little girl I’ve had stories swimming in my head. The beginning of my love affair with words. It’s the one constant in my life. Hairstyles come and go. Thank God. (Does anyone remember the dreaded Pixie Cut?) But the love of a pen sailing across the page is something of which I’ve never tired. It’s been said that writing is somewhere between torture and fun. Why do we tortured souls with ink-stained fingers do it, you ask? Because we have no choice. Words and phrases pile up in the dusty corners of our minds until there’s no room left for anything else. A story demands to be written, when it’s ready to be written. Kind of like having a baby. Once it starts pushing…there’s no holding back. My tag line is: Romance may be pretty but love stories are real.I chase them down with a passion, unwilling to settle for the tale that sits on the surface. Digging until I reveal the truth. Beneath the pretty layers we present to the world, we find relationships stripped of pretense. Stories of life and love and families. Standing in their raw vulnerability, we see our friends, our sisters,… ourselves. Barefaced, they are even more beautiful. Without a protective shield, we are able to recognize them for who they truly are. Deep down is where the real story lives, and that’s exactly where I want to be when I’m writing. Because love is messy. And glorious. I want to roll around in a story and fall in love. Want to come with me?

Pieces of a LiePieces of a Lie by Rowena Holloway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pieces of a Lie by Rowena Holloway is a gripping and suspense mystery that is full of intrigue and danger, secrets and lies, drama and action. It is one story that keeps the pages turning and you find yourself sitting on the edge of the seat and heart pumping. It made it even more interesting because the small town the story is set in is in the state I live, South Australia.

Mina lives under the shadow of her father and his reputation even though it was years ago since anyone had seen him but like all small town’s things stick like glue. She has been trying to pursue her passion for antiques and earn a living from it. But nothing is every easy for Mina who finds herself front and centre in the minds of law enforcement when a string of robberies starts happening.

Linc found himself assigned to a small town after getting on the wrong side of the boss. He soon finds that things in this small town are not what they seem and the one person he really doesn’t want to think did it, turns out to be his number one suspect.

This gripping tale is a must on anyone’s TBR list.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pieces of a Lie by Rowena Holloway is a gripping suspense novel that had me flipping the pages to discover what would happen next. It has intrigue, secrets, action, danger, investigation, and drama .
Mina Everton lives in a small town in South Australia. She hasn’t had things easy- living under the shadow of her father’s reputation. She just wants to put the past behind her and move on with her life- so she’s hoping to use her love and knowledge of antiques to kick start her future by opening her own business.
Lincoln Drummond is a ‘big city’ cop, who was disgraced, and hopes his assignment to the small town will help him resuscitate his career. With a string of robberies to investigate, Linc soon crosses paths with Mina. Things take a dangerous turn, and the body count starts mounting. So, these two will need to figure things out pretty quickly, before things get any more dire.
This book definitely has a gripping, edge of your seat, and suspenseful edge to the storyline. I was hooked from the beginning, and devoured it in one sitting- just so I could find out how everything played out in the end.
Another great suspense from Rowena Holloway and I am looking forward to her next offering!

Thank you, Ms. Holloway!

Hang On To Your Shirt Tails (Chasing Tails Book 2)Hang On To Your Shirt Tails by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The more I read from King the more enthralled and entranced I become. This second addition to this series is just as good as the first book and continues to follow Tails and Brodie. I found the story to be extremely quick and easy to read, but that should not be interpreted to mean the story is simple or detail is lacking. King is a master storyteller and this book is pure brilliance. It moves quick. I recommend this be read in series order to best understand the characters and storyline. Just absolutely fantastic. Loved every page.

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters – Review by Jenni Bishop

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Series, #1)To Kill a Fae by Jamie A. Waters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters is a magical paranormal story that gets you right from the very first pages. This is a first for me with this author and I have to say I have found a new favourite. Jamie has done a great job with this tale that is exciting and intriguing, dynamic and vibrant. The characters are unique and an unruly bunch, but Jamie has done a wonderful job of making them come to life and pop off the page. With possessive demons, witches and pixies along with one kick a*se Fae, plus a stranger who is the captain of a ship that deals in smuggling and you have the recipe for one explosive nonstop action tale. I was so engrossed and entranced with this story that I had to stay up late to read each and every word. Who cares if you are tired the next day for work? Certainly not me, not when you have a gem like this one in your hands.

Sabine has been in hiding for many years from those who want her dead, but she has made some powerful friends who will not let anything happen to her but how will they stop her from hurting herself? Just how far will her enemies go to get what they want? Once the Wild Hunt begins there is no stopping it. Will she lose everything and everyone she loves?

I absolutely loved everything about this book. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.
