Fighting for Us (Love is Worth Fighting For Book 1) by Bella Emy – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Fighting for Us (Love is Worth Fighting For #1)Fighting for Us by Bella Emy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This contemporary sports romance with a festive feel took me on an emotional rollercoaster, I found it to be an enjoyable and engaging read. Both of the main characters have difficult and sad pasts and both are likeable characters and very realistic and relatable which made me feel invested in their story. Lorenzo is an MMA, ex-Navy SEAL, single dad who sadly lost his wife, having been left alone to raise their baby girl Lorenzo had to change his routine of late night sessions at the gym for changing his baby girls diapers all by himself. Having accepted that he would be alone bringing up his daughter he is surprised when he meets Clarissa and he suddenly realises he may find love again. Clarissa believed that love and happily ever afters only happens in books after her perfect life with a loving fiancé, wonderful family and friends and a job she adored was turned upside down when her fiancé walked out on her. After years cursing the male species everything changes when she meets Lorenzo. The couple decide that maybe love and each other is worth fighting for after all. I was hooked from start to finish with this holiday romance and loved Clarissa and Lorenzo and how their relationship developed throughout the story. The backstory of each of them was interesting and I liked reading the book from both of their point of views. Their chemistry really came across in the narrative which led to some steamy scenes. This is book one in the ‘Love is Worth Fighting For’ series and I look forward to reading future books in this series.
