THIS WAS A FREAKIN’ AWESOME ADVENTURE! The main Character Zoey is definitely on a roller coaster of dark twists and turns, angelic loops, and devilish corkscrews, and a story wouldn’t be complete without a boy dilemma in Fort Worth, Texas! (Not Cowboys, oil companies, and horses anywhere in sight!) Zoey and her group face when an infernal demon decides on revenge and destruction of humanity as they know it! Ms. Hayes has written an extreme action-packed adventure, where the reader can view the action from ALL her characters, and I have never seen the action scenes with this detail and raw emotion on every page. The love the characters show for family and close friends is undeniable, and even though the characters are tested and brutally challenged, however, family and love is the strongest bond of all is what I read through this book. Holy spice! If you are a lover spice to make you melt, this book is for you! Very descriptive, painting a thoroughly vivid picture in your mind the entire time. It is a collection of very short, very steamy stories, that honestly are a bit of tease! It reads like a collection of story samples more than a cohesive book. Enough to keep you invested for each story but stops just after it gets good. Would want to have each of these stories be a lot longer. The plot is really very interesting for some, and others really did not have too much substance outside the spice.
Broken – Interesting background story It seems there is much mystery to be explored and I would have loved to have this be a much longer book. So much more to be explored with the characters.
Just Once – I love a good “friends to lovers” trope, and this seemed to be the beginnings of that. Definitely interested in where the story goes from there.
Valentine Misadventures – The beginning of this story was action-packed. The spicy scene seemed a bit out of place, but interesting just the same.
Together in Sydney – This story was quite cute involving long lost friends reconnecting. I would have loved to hear more.
Training Tracey – This I think was my least favorite, but that just may not fit with my personal taste. There is a little bit of a maternal aspect in the spice, which I think was the culprit of my cringe. That being said, I am sure there are people who would love this story, so don’t discount it without giving it a try!
Blood Lust – I think this was my favorite one! I am a sucker for a paranormal romance, so not surprising that this one stuck out to me the best.
Sweet Temptations – This was likely the most satisfying, mainly because there is a sneak peak of the continuation of the story, so it felt just a bit more complete. Many characters, many potential trysts, and so many different directions this one can go from here.
So LA Detwiler is a new author to me but I can assure you this will not be my last experience reading anything by the talented Ms. Detwiler again! When I saw the book cover for The Arsonist’s Handbook I was sold, but that blurb drew me in even more and it quickly soared to the top of my TBR list. I immediately dove right in and was hooked in so fast I read this book in one sitting well into the evening and found myself wrapping this up at four am.. Oops lol, NOT SORRY! I had to know how this book would end, I could not sleep until I did, it was that gripping. It beyond lived up to its name of a ‘gripping psychological thriller’ and I even found that it haunted my dreams and thoughts the next day. I won’t be giving you the details of the characters and story because really that would ruin it and you need to dive in and learn those for yourself, but this is one that you do not want to miss if you love dark and twisty books with a a crime thriller background storyline. I will be going to see what else is available and stalking the new releases of Detwiler to come now. I hope we get more of the same kind soon! Such a fab more than five star read!
This was quite the interesting read and escape from my typical normal pick up. I like books that make me think regardless of the storyline or ideas behind them and that is normally what will draw me to them, so that is was drew me into Travels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue: A Memoir by Mary E. Gregory. This is written very much like a journal or diary and gives us a glimpse into the mind of Mary E Gregory and her struggles as she traverses life and travel. I loved the way she kept things raw and real and didn’t attempt to sugarcoat anything. I was invested from the very beginning and was never really bored with the story, which is always a concern when you pick up a memoir. I would be highly interested in seeing what else we may get in the future from Ms. Gregory.

Amy McKinley has done it again! If you ever want to get lost in a book, Amy is the author for you. From the first chapter of Forged by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 3) I was hooked and did not want to put it down. Tyler and Malina are strong and complex characters that you instantly love and feel for. Of all three Deadly Isles Special Ops books, this one tugged at my heart the most. It was equally as packed with thrills and romance as the others. With this series, any of the books can be read alone which is enjoyable. It is definitely worth it to read them all though, you get a better sense of the characters and it builds more of a relationship to them. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

I have said it before and I will say it again to anyone who will listen…Manda Mellett never ever disappoints!! It’s just that simple! Most readers probably see an MC novel and think they know what to expect but I say throw those ideas out right now and read every Satan’s Devils book you can lay your hands on. I am now so fully invested in every single character that I just have to keep reading this series because I have to know where life is taking all these wonderful characters even if my heart gets broken along the way.
Grumbler’s Ride is another fantastic book filled with drama, heart and emotion. Once again the main characters, Grumbler, the Sargent of Arms of the San Diego Chapter of the Satan’s Devils and Mary, a widow and single mum doing the best she can raising a somewhat rebellious teenage daughter, are older characters. I absolutely love that Ms Mellett does not simply focus on the younger members of the MC.
In Grumbler’s Ride we see Grumbler a very set in his ways, I guess you would say, biker who only ever saw his Harley as being the lady love of his life, slowly realise there just might be more to life after all. He comes to the aide of Mary and her daughter after realising they had all be taken advantage of by a photographer and his phoney promises. While looking into the photographer Grumbler soon realises this guy his so much more dangerous then he first thought and he will need his club brothers to help him bring the guy down and to protect Mary and her daughter who are both starting to worm their way into his heart. Along the way Mary is also losing her heart but needs to decide if the MC way of life is for her.
This gorgeous couple bring us some unexpected Story twists that’s for sure! I promise it will keep you captivated from start to finish but most of all the heart of the characters will draw you in! I love my MC family…yes they are mine now…and I can’t wait to read more.

I was not sure what to expect going into this book but it was a very interesting read. It is a dark focus, filled with a lot of family dysfunction, but held a lot of questions. I related to most of the characters – as a teen with one parent who was never there, as a parent who would do whatever I had to if it kept my kids safe, and as a working parent who always seems to be tired. I do not identify with the arsonist, however (which is a good thing – you can stop dialing the police now). I enjoyed the twists and turns throughout the story and I like how all characters have a flaw, but are trying to make it through life. Some portions I had figured out about midway through the book, but most I did not…until the end. Overall, it was a great piece of work – very well thought out!

Let me start off by saying that I elected to read this series, and specifically this installment in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series, due to the namesakes within. My daughter’s name, believe it or not, is Malina. The fact that this author and I share the name Amy, as well as seeing her name being that of the female lead in this book made it even more tempting. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Not only was I enthralled by the story line and the depths in which it took me, but I was once again blown out of the water by the character building, the back stories for both Malina, and Tyler, and the involvement of the other two Hale brothers that I had come to love from reading the previous two books. This Author is one to watch, and I wish I had all the time in the world to immerse myself in the adventures of a lifetime that are brought on by Amy McKinley’s magic. I do believe that Forged by Secrets is my favorite book in the series, as the twists and turns keep coming, and kept me on my toes. I was covered in goosebumps from head to toe from the first, to the last page. I highly suggest carving out a weekend for this beauty, and you won’t be disappointed. Keep them coming, please!

This was a new author to me, and I came across the book in a search and the description pulled me in so I thought I’d give it a go. Best decision ever, this book took me on such a rollercoaster ride of emotions I lost several hours of sleep because I just had to finish. We start off meeting Tom who seems like your average joe until Isabella comes back from a London trip without letting anyone know. They seem to fit right back together in the relationship they had before she left for London after dealing with the passing of her father. Which is where she made a promise that may just cost her more than she is willing to give. Isabella and Tom head back to Isabella’s homeland where something isn’t quite right. Mysterious circumstances bring her once childhood friend back into her life, but he is not the same boy she knew before. He makes her go back into a life she was over that she refused to ever do again with the threat of violence against Tom. Will they both make it out of the motherland alive and unscathed? You just have to read this page turner to find out, but it is worth the read!

Being Lost is a fantastic book filled with drama, heart and emotion. I loved that the main characters, Lost, the club president of the San Diego Chapter of the Satan’s Devils and Patsy, the mum of an Old Lady from another chapter, were older than you really see in a lot of novels. Finding love in most books is left to the young it seems but not this time and I love that.
Lost is asked to look out for Patsy and her son by the Pres from the Tucson chapter (the mother chapter of the Satan’s Devils) and when her situation takes a dangerous turn Lost takes her protection on and in doing so falls and falls hard, even while fighting his own personal demons and wondering if he is truly worthy. His vulnerability spoke volumes to me as most readers would automatically assume him to be a very strong and maybe hard character simply because he is a club president.
Story twists and turns will keep you captivated but most of all the heart of the characters will draw you in!

Next Door to a Star written by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a story of the coming of age in high school. It is a perfect tale of every unpopular girl’s desire to be seen. In fact, this could be my story. It is wonderfully written and was by far one of the best young adult books that I have read.
Hadley Daniels had never been the most popular girl in school. In fact, she struggled to find her place in her high school. She had one best friend, Lexi Irvin. It was the summer after freshman year, and Hadley’s life was about to change. Lexi was moving to Texas with her family. Since she had no other friends, after an invitation, Hadley decides to spend the summer in Grand Haven with her grandparents.

This is Samantha Adair’s third book in the Tom Grant series. Motherland is the first book I have read from this author. From page one, I was laughing out loud and reading scenes to my bestie as she wanted to know what was so funny. I love Isabella, her love to her deceased father, and keeping her promise no matter what it costs her. Five days, in and out of Russia, sounds easy enough. Tom refuses to let Isabella go alone. The danger starts as soon as they get to the border. Isabella has a price on her head and her childhood friend is determined to drag her back into her old life, using Tom as leverage. This book kept me on the edge of my seat for the whole ride. I am going to have to go back to book one and catch up on what I missed. Am glad I found this new author!! Really enjoyed this read.

This was a memoir by Mary Gregory about life w/ a mentally ill mother while suffering from a facial deformity. What.A.Combination. Mary’s mother leaves her husband b/c the husband, a pastor, comes out as gay. She moves the family around, eventually cross-country to California. Mom has mental issues, but the three kids don’t know that, nor understand. They just know they spend a lot of time in the car, eating fast food or from convenience stores/gas stations. Mary is ugly b/c of her cleft lip, and has problems w/ eating b/c of the holes in her mouth from her cleft palate. I deeply felt all her problems in school with classmates. It’s understandable that when the family finally lands in Long Beach, CA, Mary eventually ends up as a drug addict and exploring a different lifestyle. This makes me sad, b/c for a while, she was really into basketball, fitness, and school, but slid away from that. The eldest, Paul, leaves the family as soon as possible. Sam, the elder daughter and middle child, bonds w/ an undocumented immigrant boyfriend and spends years getting him back to California from Mexico. This leaves Mary to fend for herself, and for her mother. Mary’s mother gets fatter and fatter, and less and less able to manage her own life, much less raise children. Reading the descriptions of the mother’s various domiciles left me nauseous. Mary eventually falls for a guy eleven years older than her, another immigrant who needs her to marry him for a green card. It is surprising that this works out at all, but it does. The reader roots HARD for Mary to find love and stability outside of her nuclear family unit. After Mary meets Pierre, it feels like the memoir speeds up, far more superficial than the parts about her young childhood. The whole book reminds me of Tara Westover’s “Educated,” without the Mormon background, and w/ an overtly schizophrenic parent. I was SO pleased to read about Mary finally getting surgeries to fix her deformities! I will round up to four stars for this nearly stream-of-consciousness salute to a girl who survived to find a better life.

From what I understand, this is connected to the Blood Dagger trilogy, which I haven’t read. However, after finishing this book and loving it as much as I did, I plan to read all of her work! It was fast paced and easy to get sucked into the book. The characters had good development and felt very real. I always love when a book is told from different viewpoints; and Hayes accomplished it seamlessly. A very suspenseful and exciting read. I can’t wait for the others!

Amy McKinley has a way of drawing you in quickly and making it hard to put the book down. While reading Twisted Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 1), I was quickly connected to Riley and Xander and couldn’t wait to see their story unfold. The descriptive way Xander and Riley got to know one another made me anxious and excited, almost begging for more. Amy McKinley has a way of combining action, mystery, and romance that is so inviting. Some books can be so predictable, but she gives you the unexpected. My heart skipped a beat at every turn. Amy McKinley is easily becoming one of my new favorite authors!

Moonlit Kiss by Amy McKinley was a wonderful quick read with vibrant descriptions and likeable characters. Sergio and Gianna seemed to just fit right together and made for a sweet romance. Set in Venice, I could easily picture what the author was writing about and I enjoyed the “scenery”. This is the third book I’ve read as part of the Moonlit Destination Series and of the three is by far my favorite.

Competing With The Star: Sweet YA Romance by Krysten Lindsay Hager. This book can be read as a stand-alone as it is easy to engage with the characters. This is an easy to read, sweet romance that is fairly quick to read. The characters are all pretty interesting, although I didn’t find Hadley to be quite frustrating at times. The book for me had quite a slow pace, it was a slow build up leading you gently where it wanted to take you. This is one of those stories that is a great way to pass a lazy afternoon. You can get lost in the story and everything going on. This was an enjoyable book a good follow up to the first one.

Zoey Taylor is just a normal girl on her way to graduating early, she studies hard and is a bit of a loner apart from one friend who she hangs around with, this is due to being an introvert by nature, but also because her family are really overprotective ever since she walked out of the house and into the woods behind in the middle of the night when she was five years old. As Zoey goes through her normal routine of school, studying, more school, more studying and maybe meeting her friend at the local diner for a snack before heading home, she is coming to terms with her desperate need to escape from it, to escape from her family and its drama which comes from being the only girl surrounded by four brothers, its loud and distracting.
One of the days she goes to the diner, her friend did mention that one of the guys who works there has a crush on her, but she didn’t believe it, she is too plain for anyone to notice her, but when she starts talking to him, she realises he is actually a nice guy under the uniform and permanent scent of sugar and grease from the fryers. When her friend turns up she is annoyed with herself bevuase of asking a stupid question which pretty much wrecked any chance of further conversation and she regrets it so she decides to leave early, unknowingly leaving her bag charm behind, her friend isn’t overly fussed and just proceeds to chat up the girls in the diner instead.
As Thanksgiving approaches, Zoey is worried that she won’t be able to study with everyone being in the house and tries to extend her curfew a bit so she can get some work done at the library, but her parents are having none of it, so she struggles ahead like normal. When her older brother comes home a couple of days after school has broken up, she is happy, but when a friend of his comes to see him, things start to turn odd, so she calls on her friend to come over to help her investigate what is happening and he agrees to come over on Thanksgiving itself.
When the day arrives, the family is preparing the meal, but unknown to her, the guy from the diner is going to turn up as well to return her charm and bearing cake, while she is talking to him, tensions rise between the two guys when her friend arrives and she asks one to leave. However, the day proceeds to become more shocking when someone she never expected turns up on her doorstep, Gabriel Stanton is wealthy, popular to the point of celebrity status and a philanthropist in his spare time and completely out of place in her living room, but there he is nonetheless. How will Zoey react when he manages to turn her life upside down with answers she never expected to hear and what will happen in the aftermath of these revelations? This was tastefully teasing! I was a bit hesitant to start this, as the mixture of chapters and different stories scared me. But, I’m so glad I did. The stories were a mix of steamy stories that made me want more! The narrator was the icing on the cake for me. I will 100% be looking into reading the books that the excerpts are from because they were phenomenal!

WOW!!! Love a steamy biker book. Manda’s MC books never disappoint. This is Nirans story, after he left the Marine’s he joined the MC club The Satan’s Devils. He is loyal and strong and when he meets Saffie all he wants to do is protect her. This story is so emotional and ends on a major cliffhanger. I cannot wait for part 2.

I loved this book! House in the Woods by Jessica Aiken-Hall tops the list of best books I have read in a long time. From the very first page I was hooked and found it impossible to put down. This book had twists and turns that kept me reading to find out what was going to happen next. Not only did it have me on the edge of my seat wanting to know how things would turn out for young Molly, but I felt an emotional connection with Molly.
Molly has just finished her second year of college and has plans to spend a quiet and relaxing summer at home. However, her plans of having a quiet summer are quickly shattered when Molly stumbles onto a Missing Persons poster of a young girl that went missing nearly 20 years earlier. For some reason unknown to her, Molly feels compelled to learn more about the young girl’s disappearance. Upon looking at the photo on the poster she feels as though she is looking at an image of herself. Molly is intrigued and knows that she must learn more about this missing girl. The resemblance to her is uncanny, and young Molly vows to do everything she can to find the young girl in the photo.
When Molly learns that her older brother, Marc, once dated the young girl in the missing persons poster she is even more intrigued. She needs to know the connection to her brother and starts suspecting there is more to the story. As Molly digs into the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s disappearance, she discovers deep buried family secrets. Secrets so dark and sinister that Molly wishes she had left them buried.
House in the Woods takes you on a suspense filled journey through the life of Molly and her family. The journey is dark, twisted, and full of sinister secrets that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. This book is a must read!

This is a great spin off, especially if you haven’t read the original trilogy which I have not but i definitely will now. If you love The Mortal Instruments series you will absolutely enjoy this Young Adult paranormal fantasy. It has great strong characters and there is twists, suspense and drama round every turn. you will not be disappointed.
Ok. I knew from the description that this book was right up my alley. But I was unprepared for the adventure that unfolded before me. Wow. What a book. Just full of detail and amazing characters. I loved how the story was set up. Couldn’t wait to find out how everything would come together and get answers to the questions set in the beginning. The author brilliantly provided a new world to dive into. My only complaint is that i have to wait for the next book. Wonderful.

I’m so glad I’ve found this author and series. Seriously addictive. I want to know how the story will continue. Just a great book made that much richer through excellent narration. Loved it.

This is the BEST paranormal book out there for 2021. If books similar to Supernatural had a category, this would be up there (even though it is way better), This author has done a phenomenal job putting together the plot. It is good vs evil with angels, demons, nephilims, etc. Holy cow! I found myself chuckling through some and holding my breath through the others. Her action packed scenes between Zoey, Cruz and the gang are classic. Zoe is a young woman who shows her family that she is stronger than they give her credit for when she learns they have been lying to her. Her friends haven’t been much help. She is an introvert and prefers studying and reading (I feel her). This is a book that will have you counting down the days to read the next one.

Avenging Devil Part 1 is the third book in the Satan’s Devils MC Dan Diego series. Obviously since this is part one, it is not a standalone. It ends on a hard cliffhanger, but you can read it without having read the previous two books in the series. I would also say that you definitely should heed the content warning of this being a book that could trigger sensitive readers.
This book was a difficult read. Not because it’s not written well, the author did amazing work with this story. The subject matter is very real and it’ll get you right in the feels. Saffie’s had a hard life and the hits just keep coming. And the choice she has to make is really hard to read about because this is real-life stuff.
Something I liked about the book was that it is not insta-love or even insta-lust. They are having to build everything from the ground up, especially trust. I feel like this is going to make the end of the next book truly satisfying.
Cyn… lawd have mercy, she tries my last nerve. I hope that she redeems herself in part two. Right now, reading about her is like someone running their nails down a chalkboard. But, that’s part of creating a good character – getting an emotional response from the reader.
This book is an intense, but good read. I look forward to part two. Although, I have a feeling I’m going to want to throw the book across the room at least once before I get to the satisfying conclusion, lol.

An erotica amazing books that get you right in the feels. Warning don’t listen to on a bus or around others. Extremely well done scence that makes you feel like you are in the moment. You want action and fighting as well this audio for you. If you don’t like swear sorry but it got them which has me in stitches at points. It a hot hit.
