I’ve read Titanian’s Phoenix, the first book in this series, which I preferred to this novel. But I still really enjoyed this paranormal romance and the way the love story between Kailen and Talaith unfolds. Both have dark, haunted pasts and their story is full of drama. I thought the world-building across different places and times was impressive, and every page is full of details and the battle scenes in particular were intense. Full of adventure, and I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.

This is my first book by this author and I am really in love. I didnt realize the book was part of a series and will definitely be checking out the rest. This cozy mystery is a perfect read while snuggled up in a blanket drinking hot cocoa. The story is very well written and captivating. The more I read the more I wanted to know more and see where the story led me. Highly recommend!!

This is a great murder mystery which will keep you guessing. It is a classic whodunit and the clues will lead you on a quest to discover the truth. I love the main characters of Frances, Jack and Uncle Sal. The fact that they aren’t professional detectives but are able to go undercover as hired help and work out the clues was great fun to read. The author does an amazing job of setting the scene of the life of the rich in 1931. This book is full of twists and turns so you will be kept guessing from start to end. It was a really enjoyable read.

This was a wild ride of a story although I will say it had a bit of a slow start. Logan McKenna was an amazing main character. The side characters were just as developed as the main characters. The plot picked up once the crime occurred. I was completely thrown for a loop at the ending. I highly recommend reading this.

This book is a beautiful cultural exploration of generational trauma wrapped in a creepy, gothic, horror story. I absolutely loved it! In this wonderful story we follow the determined and independent Mercy, from frightened and unsure child, self-described as “all elbows and knees” teenager to fearless, self-sufficient and generational trauma cycle breaker. I loved how well the author was able to build this gothic fairytale all while clearly explaining how this curse was really bred from the cycles of trauma in her ancestors’ past. It was beautifully written and was a perfect October book choice! Highly recommend this book!

Urban fantasy setting with vampires, witches, and mystery.

This book is amazing!!! I was hooked from about page 3. I grew frustrated, just like Amelia, as she and Teague took forever to find their way to each. I almost threw my phone down in anger later. I continue to root for the Inn to be a success. I was so proud of Sydney taking control of the situation between Amelia and Alex. If you haven’t read the other books in this series (like myself), buy them now and plan for a long weekend of getting lost in the world of Chestertown.
Teague Sullivan has had two best friends for as long as he can remember, Alex and his little sister Amelia. Alex knows almost everything about him. Teague knew there were somethings that even his best friend didn’t need to or couldn’t know about his time in the Army. Amelia had been his friend, his lifeline, his anchor during his last deployments. Now he was starting to realize that there was much more to his feelings for Amelia. But could he violate bro code and date his best friend’s little sister?
Amelia Kirkland has been in love with Teague for as long as she can remember. She knows that he will never see her as anything but Alex’s sister. Thanks to the Inn and other circumstances, she now will be sharing an apartment with Teague. The family of characters in this series is amazing. I can’t wait to read the others.

“I am built for tears.” From the opening line, DeBlassie sucks us into an absolutely gorgeously spun tale of culture, breaking generational chains, and sorrow. La Llorona is a haunting presence that lurks throughout the story, causing you to shiver and look twice at the shadows outside your window. As someone who lives next to the Bosque river, I found the description of New Mexico to be beautifully accurate, and the subtle horror perfect for spooky season. Mercy is a wonderful narrator, and I empathized with her immediately. To be the friend that always feels a bit out of place, always longs for more beauty- that is a theme that I think many of us relate to. I love that this novella was written by a bruja, and that we got to see the healing side of witchcraft. Beautifully done and well worth the read. I give this one five stars.

Journeys Through TimeSpace (Journeys Through…, #2) by James Talisman impressed me even more than the first! This book continues to character build these 3 friends from college who must go on multiple adventures to save the worlds. James has a way of telling the story so you can picture exactly what is going on and you just get pulled right in. I highly recommend this series if you are a sci-fi fan like myself. Book #5 of the Broderick series gives us Edward’s story. He is very much a handsome loner, and he is mated to the beautiful free spirit known as Mia. There is much to learn about Edward and Mia who did not expect mates or when they found their mate to go thru so much opposition with them. They have the attraction but continue to fight the pull until they can no longer do so. I adored them both and I started to fall in love with Edward as well lol. Edward and Mia were a very unlikely couple. Both had a lot to understand about the mate bond and the depth of the emotions/feelings the bond would bring. They agree to take things slowly, but its unclear if they will ever accept each other as mates.

This is book three of this trilogy buy Saccenti. I love this love story she got it right with the descriptive characters and the way she displays the plot. There is some serious adventure What I love about Victoria is that she has a way of making three different stories wrapped in the same world. Read all three books it is worth it, they will have you I all the feels and you cannot go wrong. Five stars for this read that has you wanting to reread once you finish.

While I was sitting here reflecting on what I just read, I realized my initial thoughts when I finished reading Whisper Creek by Valerie Davisson were the right ones. I feel like I had a love/hate relationship with Valerie Davison’s book. There were parts that were very intriguing and I wanted more, but then there were parts where I said to myself “what is going on? what does this have to do with anything?” At the beginning we meet Logan who goes and helps out at the New School in Oregon every so often. She was the main character of our story, but not the center of it. The center of our story was a who done it, in regards to the murder of Monica LeGrange. A piece of work in her own right, nobody liked Monica, leaving the detectives a list of 50 people it could be. Logan spends the story going through the ins and outs of trying to figure out who did it before the police arrest the wrong person. I enjoyed the way the book was written! Also the character development, especially Monica, was very intriguing at times. I will say I enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end, definitely didn’t see that one coming. In saying all that, I love forward to reading something else Valerie Davisson has written in the near future.

Journeys Through SpaceTime (Journeys Through…, #1) by James Talisman was a super interesting read. I love sci-fi, time travel, and multiverses so I was intrigued after reading the synopsis and knew this series would be right up my alley. The book starts with so many different characters and paths, that at times it was hard to follow, yet still kept me interested. As you read on, the story starts to unfold and really shows you how the entire multiverse connects. I recommend this book and have already started the second because this one was so great! This is book #3 in the Broderick Coven series and I adored it! This book took me all over the place emotionally. There were many parts I could not stop smiling, and then there were others that I wanted to break down and cry. Max and Claudia’s story was beautiful and bittersweet at the same time. Max was a witch and Claudia was a werewolf. To be mates was being outside of the same species was a rarity, but a gift all in itself. Claudia was on the run with her daughter from her abusive captor. She was bruised and broken mentally and physically and felt she could never be a mate to anyone. The damage was intensive and she did not believe she would ever successfully move forward until she was brought into the Alumbra Wolf pack. There she found a true family and Max. Max was patient, kind, and was willing to wait an eternity for Claudia if he had to. It was a great story and truly emphasized that when you find your mate nothing and no one will stop fate, and no matter what they have endured that love and time can help heal wounds.

I was drawn into this story right from the start. Hunter is a resistance fighter and that’s what he was brought up to do. Rain is hiding out until she stumbles onto a very injured Hunter. There is chemistry between these two but Hunter isn’t used to having these feelings and Rain has a secret that she’s afraid will change everything if Hunter finds out. This book is full of action, danger, love, betrayal, great characters and more. I found myself on the edge of my seat at times wondering what was going to happen next. This book left me wanting more, I can’t wait to read what comes next in this series. I recommend this book.

I enjoyed reading Christi Barth book Wrong For Him! It was a happily ever after. It contained a lot of steamy love scenes. I absolutely loved the Kirkland family and the chemistry between Amelia and Teague. I loved the romantic relationships between all of the characters. I loved that Amelia and Teague fought for their love against her brother Alex who was very protective of both of them for different reasons especially his sister after his parents death. I found Wrong For Him to be another sweet, charming romance novel on my list of books I love. I wholly suggest you read this fun romantic story, which had a great couple, wonderful characters, and sexy. I now need to go back to read the first two books. These can be read I feel like as a standalone or as a series. Either way the characters are amazing and it is well written.

This is definitely an October must read! To say that this story is beautifully written is an understatement. Words do not justify how hauntingly lovely this story is. I say haunting because the words and details of this tale will invade your thoughts and dreams long after you have closed the cover. The depth of every faucet of this novella will bring rich, sharp imagery to your mind. Mercy is such a well developed character you will by the end feel as if she was your friend. You will grieve with her, hope with her and cheer her on. I officially have Weep Woman Weep on my re-read list before the month is up and plan to treasure it again every October!

This is book 7 in the Logan McKenna series, but the first one I have read. Logan is visiting her house on the Oregon Coast, she heads up to The New School for her annual January trip. The New School is an eclectic private school for not just the rich. Finding that there is a staff talent show the night she arrives, she looks forward to watching to be told she would be the next to last act. After the performance is over, she heads outside with what was the last act, an amazing golden retriever. Running off, Logan chases her and finds a dead body. All she wanted was some relaxation and time to process her new engagement and video that had gone viral. The dead body is the stepmother of one of the students at the school. She was not well liked, but who would have actually wanted her dead? I have lived in Oregon all my life, and get so excited when I stumble upon a book that is set here. Recognizing the towns and landmarks always make me feel so much more connected to the story. This was a great read, am now going to have to go back and start at book one.

Upon discovering this novel I was so interested in that I had to binge read the first six just to read this one. Our lead character Logan has so much going on in her life including a music video, a love life with Ben, friendships, and drama. When she is already worried about her relationship with Ben and so much more, extreme mystery and drama find our girl. What will our girl do when the finger points to someone she loves dear? Will Logan be able to sort out all of the pieces and find out the truth? Or will false accusations, multiple suspects, and endless motives stop her from finding out the truth? As I started to read Stand Your Ground by A. J. Ullman I had an idea of what the story might be about. What I didn’t anticipate was how quickly I got pulled into the story. Mr. Ullman does a fantastic job of not only showing you what the characters are thinking and feeling but also gives details about the settings. Many times I felt like I was right there with Cady as she was navigating through a life changing situation that could potentially mean she could be accused of murder. The story is full of suspense and keeps you reading through some tough moments that are very relevant to events that have and continue to occur in our country.

What a great book by a new to me author! I LOVE LOVE LOVE brothers best friend romances. This one was really fun to read and also heartwarming. I really felt a connection with these characters and felt they could be some of my own friends. I will be going back and reading the first 2 books as I felt a little lost on some things but it didnt take away from the overall story for me.

I really felt connected with the main character, Mercy. As a person with a Hispanic heritage but no real foundation with my Mexican background I could relate so much. I know the story of La Llorrona, but I like how the perspective from Mercy takes a different approach on the story. I have a hard time getting scared reading books but this was a gripping story!

Whisper Creek: A Logan McKenna Mystery by Valerie Davisson is the seventh book in this series. I highly recommend reading the books in order because the personal details of the characters build with each book. I really enjoy this series and love the twists and turns. Things are going well for Logan, and her personal life and career are soaring. She decides to take some time for herself and gets away. But, of course, things do not go as planned. This book is fun, engaging, and thrilling. I have enjoyed this entire series, and this did not disappoint. I look forward to reading more from this author soon.

A mysterious and gripping read, DeBlassie paints an intricate story full of racial discourse, generational trauma, and strong women fighting against all odds. I appreciated all aspects of this story and was able to easily visualize key elements including La Llorona, the farm, and the tears spilt into mason jars. The power and heartache resounded throughout the story and pounded the implications into my own heart. The scenery and descriptive writing style is absolutely breathtaking. I strongly recommend this read for all and will be looking forward to more novels from the author.

DeBlassie knows just how to get you hooked from the first few sentences. It kept me engaged the whole time. I read it all in one sitting and by sitting I mean a 5 hour car ride haha. I knew of the folklore of la llarona as the weeping woman but she really incorporated the story of Mercy and Santos and Miguel beautifully. I enjoyed the pain, heartache and the happiness with all the ups and downs. I loved the writing style and how easy to read it was.
I am sure it was tough for Mercy to lose her best friend but have Sherry within reach and she would leave Sherry little gifts. Mercy did it for so long she forgot why she started to do it in the first place. Mercy didnt know what real kindness was until Santos came and bought the farm next to her. That is when her view on life changed.
