This is a fast paced and entertaining story that is fun from the word go. I loved reading about the antics of Emily and her attempt to cheer up her friend. She seemed like one of those people that you would want to know if you met them. Life would certainly never be dull with her around. This is a well written book. It is quick and easy to read, mainly because I didn’t want to put it down! The author has managed to keep the book light-hearted but also interesting. I thought the book was easy to connect with and an overall enjoyable read.
Bycatch follows the paths of many people following the Vietnam War. Some are Vietnam Veterans, others are shrimpers, while others are Vietnam Veterans turned into shrimpers. Mystery after mystery and tragedy after tragedy unfold and with a tough relationship between Americans and Vietnamese, who is to blame? Especially when one of the tragedies involves a South Vietnamese Veteran? Alexander Blevens takes you through the minds and eyes of each of his characters, while answers are sought. Bycatch is an amazing read full of relatable characters and feelings. It did get a little confusing at times jumping from one person’s viewpoint to another, but it is still a 5-star read. I could not put it down. If you are looking for a post-Vietnam War story that focuses on the tensions between the Vietnamese and Americans after the war, but is mixed with action and mystery, look no further. Bycatch is a quick read that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Lucas the Spy Cat by Samantha Shannon 5* This is the cutest story about Lucas. Lucas is a normal family cat except for at night. When he meows goodbye and just leaves. He disappears all night and returns in the morning. His family wants to see exactly where he goes, so they attach a camera to his collar. What they discover is the most surprising. Their normal cat is busy keeping their neighborhood safe from harm and being a friend to those in need. I love that the story is not all that is included. There are extra pages to extend the fun. I also love that there is a website with even more activities. I definitely will be getting a few copies of this book for my classroom library. I also will get more of the series. I absolutely love this story about Lucas and his friends!

This book was a nice, pleasant surprise and out of my normal comfort zone in my reading, but I was totally intrigued by the cover so I decided to dive right in.
This military sci-fi we get to know Rande “Vandal” VanDelle and he is part of the Chevaliers and works on the MBUs or large tanks. When Vandal decides to take an MBU out and about on patrol….he comes under attack. Battling back and trying to stay alive Vandal has choices to be made…….will Vandal join the continuing fight?
Choices, action, danger and intrigue all wrapped up in this really good story!
Can I add I love the fact the author added a glossary of terms that helped me as well with some of the terminology and that is a plus for me.

How are we book 5 in this series already? I have to say this is fast becoming one of my favourite series – these Vampires are just – well to be honest I don’t even know how to describe them. Each time I read the next book in the series I say it was my favourite until I read the next one that is! Master Catteneo – what a delicious vampire he is! I could have read about him all day and night! I love how the author has had a unique story for all of these vampires, each one different yet equally as amazing! Her writing is just superb and she always has me hanging off every turn of the page waiting to see just what is going to happen next, This book could be read as a standalone but I would HIGHLY recommend starting at the very beginning – you won’t be disappointed!!

Who doesn’t love a forbidden romance – I know I do and I absolutely loved this one!! It was so well written it really was an absolute pleasure to read. The story flowed so well I couldn’t put it down, I needed to keep turning those pages to find out what was going to happen between Devlin and Evelyn! They were fantastic characters to read about – such passion and chemistry between them – I loved them both! I loved that apart from the obvious forbidden relationship part that there was so much more to this story – an absolutely wonderful read and one that I 100% recommend!!

I really enjoyed this cosy mystery. It was action packed and full of mystery but also with a fantasy twist which I loved. This author is a new author to me but I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read more. The characters were really well written and I loved how determined Bob is to prove his stories and creatures of make believe really exist.
Bob is a journalist and he plans to prove to everyone that creatures of fiction truelly exist. However his article isn’t want his publisher wants so he finds himself out of a job. When a surprising job offer shows up he takes it. What does he have to lose after all? So Bob find himself on the hunt for a missing Gnome but what he finds during his investigation is more than anyone could ever expect. Bob’s eyes are opened to things that even he could not imagine.
What happened to the missing Gnomes? Can Bob find them? And what else will he discover along the way?
This was a really interesting book to read, it’s so out of my comfort zone but I was looking for something a little different to read and the synopsis grabbed my attention so I thought I would give it a go. I think the first thing I have to say how well the book was written, the author had great attention to detail and I actually imagined what I was reading more than I thought I would – this was a pleasant surprise. I’ve read very few science fiction books so I read this a little slower than my usual books and I was very grateful for the glossary with some of the different terms used in the story – that was really helpful for me as a reader and definitely aided my enjoyment a little more. I think this book would be a huge hit with sci-fi readers – I would definitely recommend it.

Soliloquy is a story about love and how it lives through the most difficult of times and the most wartorn. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I was nervous, as it was a period piece if I would enjoy it because I do not typically read this genre, so I really wasn’t sure if I would want to finish it. I did finish it, it turns out. But the story and plot and character dynamics intrigued me enough to continue to the end. Erin who is a professional piano player, finds herself thrown into the past in the time of WWII and into Nazi-occupied France. There she is drawn into helping the resistance against the Nazis, as well as helping a British pilot who ironically has a tie to her time in the future. With the ever-present danger and the pressure of time running out, the high stakes and romance cause for the seat of your pants, nailbiting reading. there are complex dramatic climaxes and peaks in the story but this is a story that leads to a constant thrilling intriguing, seat-of-your-pants page-turner. I would recommend this to any historical fiction reader and anyone looking for thrill and romance. Definitely looking forward to more from this author.

This is an intriguing book which left me rooting for the main character, Jasper, and groaning in frustration at the cliff-hanger ending as I couldn’t move straight onto the next book!
I was gripped from page one and did not want to stop reading, when at work my thoughts were with Jasper and the difficulties she faced, and I couldn’t help but theorise until I could get back to my kindle.
I really enjoyed the way Jasper was written, her response to trauma (her defences/coping mechanisms) felt very real to me and her growth in both strength and character was admirable as the book progressed. The darker events of the book were impactful but were well-balanced with Jasper’s sarcasm providing a humorous break, so it wasn’t all doom and gloom. To balance this well can be difficult but I was impressed by how well this was achieved without detracting from the emotional impact had on Jasper.
Overall, I found the storyline engaging and well-constructed and although the book is geared towards teens/young adults, I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this as an adult and can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Ice Dance is a magical fantasy written by Vik Azeem, and the first book I have read by this author. I found the main character, Hassan, immediately relatable and it locked me into the story from there. Hassan is struggling to keep his head above water between a strained relationship with his family, losing his job and his landlord wanting to evict him from his apartment. But then he meets the beautiful, nice, yet mysterious Yasmine while out at a bar to perform his stand-up comedy routine, and from there the strangeness begins.
I really enjoyed this story and all the fantasy and magical elements and how it all entwined so well together. I also loved the main characters and their develepment throughout. Yasmine is mentally strong and a total badass. Hassan is so kind and following his heart. His sense of humor, even during times of danger, always made me giggle. I would highly recommend to any fantasy lovers looking for something a little different, adventurous and fun. The author has a beautiful way with words and keeps the story interesting from beginning to end.
It was a cute story. Typical friends-to-lovers storyline. The two main characters, one a shifter and the other a Mage are best friends, and they secretly love each other. The problem is not only are they from different worlds, but their love is forbidden because Wednesday is a Mage, and Ryker is a Panda Shifter. They are both looking for their soulmates or mates. Neither one wants to be with anyone but the other. You can feel the chemistry within their relationship, and the tension it causes when they cannot be together. However as the story progresses, you are rooting the whole time for them to be together and it seems impossible that they won’t. This is 7th in a series. There are moments when it references or gives a glimpse of other couples and Characters, but nothing that would deviate or distract from this story. I would read other books by this author as I felt interested and intrigued and it moved pretty quickly at times. Will definitely try to read more of this series.

This was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed it! Olivia is the main character. She leaves her husband after finding out he had an affair with her best friend. Shortly after she loses her job at the restaurant that she ran. After living at her mother’s house (who is quite dramatic and needy) and in a tiny apartment, she is invited to live at her other friends house. Olivia has her eyes set on making a go of her own company, cooking for others and catering. It’s hard, it becomes her life, but while doing so she meets quite a cast of characters! If you are looking for a light hearted fun to read book, this one is it!

Evelyn Parrish has a hard enough time dealing with Devlin Hughes, he grates on her every nerve and now that she had ended a long term relationship, she definitely doesn’t need his opinion. Devlin though surprises her with an offer, an ear to bend and when she thinks this is just going to be just a dinner and a little emotional support it turns out to be something altogether different. Enemies become lovers but is everyone being truthful?
I enjoyed this one, chemistry is there from beginning. Devlin has a mysterious air to his character. The stories pacing is perfect, wonderful read.

I always love reading any book by Via Mari, and this book did not disappoint. Follow along and learn all about Katarina Meilers and Chase Prestian. A woman who is dedicated to her job and always strives for perfection, and a man who just wants to be seen. Do you believe in love at first sight? This book slightly follows that line, where there is an immediate attraction that only grows as time goes on. But, like every love story, something goes wrong. That wrong in this book, can be Chase’s over protectiveness and Katarina strong emotions, which she is not used to having. Can they overcome their differences and each other’s flaws? Read to find out!
I love the playfulness between the two, and the joking around with each other. Let’s not forget about the steam either!
All in all, Via Mari did not fail and brought, yet another, great romance story! I cannot wait to read more in this series!

I love poetry and this collection of poems was truly fantastic. Each poem gave me something to think about as each poem was different, raw emotion and so much thought. I felt I was painted a picture of love, soul, inspiration and heart felt meaning.
A few of my favorites were “Parenting”, “Collective Creativity”, “Hate vs Love” and “Recipe for Life”.
If you enjoy wonderful poetry that really grabs you I would highly recommend this collection. This is one of my favorite and enjoyable poetry books I have ever read.

Sin is able to see through glamour, which is rare for a human. Due to her ability, she finds herself in some pretty crazy situations.
Rad is an ancient who has worked to build his power.
When Sin and Rad meet, sparks fly, and a new kind of flame is ignited between them.
Any more and I would be giving away too much of the story, so I strongly suggest having a read!

Robbie is faced with the task of helping Annie and Cat run a public song writing contest. A challenge that he is up for as far as working with Annie because Robbie thinks they will become romantically involved. On the other hand, the thought of working with Cat terrifies him. Annie is on the verge of relaunching her singing career after taking time off to raise her son. She has been raising her eight-year-old son alone since her ex-lover/manager fled the country nine years ago. Suddenly her ex is back and wants joint custody of their son.
The author has done a wonderful job of portraying the hard work, dedication, and determination that goes into having a successful music career. It is like having a behind the scenes look at the music industry and experiencing the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into running a successful music business. The characters were a blend of personalities that somehow worked together and were relatable. Some moments were tense, some moments were emotional, and some moments left you singing along to the tune you could not help but sing inside your head. An enjoyable read.

The Final Bite by Naomi Valkyrie is a fantastic paranormal MM romance. Another feather in Ms. Valkyries cap. She has such a vivid and abundant imagination, which she uses to weave wonderfully dynamic stories, bringing us something new, each and every time. She seems to have a limitless well of imagination and inspiration just waiting for her to release into the world for us to enjoy. Ms. Valkyrie never ceases to amaze me with her highly original storylines that all manage to have their own identity, but also capture her unique touches that add a special quality to all her work. This is another cleverly woven paranormal MM romance, with second chances, vampires, wolf shifters, action, mysteriousness, agendas, chemistry, family, hope, murder, a sinister foe, emotion, humour, fun, banter, and even a haunted house. The story is set on Halloween, which adds an element of mysteriousness to the story. “Every ten years, the gods choose a paranormal being who has been unjustly killed and offers them a second chance at life. But this second chance comes with a catch, as set out by the rules imposed by the Gods. 1. You have 3 days to choose a mate. 2. You cannot use your powers to directly influence your potential mate. 3.You can only choose one person….If the potential mate rejects you then you go back to purgatory. 4. You must reveal the truth of the challenge to your potential mate.” Easy peasy, right? Well not really when you are ‘dropped off’ in the middle of nowhere with the clock ticking on your second chance. No one wants to be flung back into purgatory…. Will Quinnlan find his mate in time? Or will circumstances force Quinn to put his second chance at risk? This is definitely worth the read to find out how it all plays out in the end… I can’t wait to see what Ms. Valkyrie has in store for us next… Happy Reading…

Revenge Honeymoon is a super fun RomCom that literally had me laughing so hard in parts I couldn’t breathe. I absolutely loved reading this book and got a big kick out these two and all the crazy things they got into. Ruby was left at the altar so what does her wonder friend do , she comes up with a crazy plan to help soothe her broken heart and keep the non refundable cruise the couple was supposed to go on. Get ready for quite the crazy laugh out loud adventure these two are to take us on. I loved everything about this book from the characters to the storyline that flowed. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Its definitely worth the read and I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Music, a balm for the soul This book is a multilayered melody with emotion-filled undertones. The story follows Cat, Annie and Robbie as they navigate the music industry that is Merger Music. They all have secrets and need to resolve and the author brilliant,y executes this while wrapping the reader in a blanket of tunes. There is a good balance between the drama and the banter and the characters are well developed and easy to relate to. An entertaining and enjoyable read.

This book was real. Many parents find themselves struggling when their kids leave home. Your kids are your reason for doing everything. This book is about finding yourself and the struggles that come with it. The growth Peggy goes through is inspirational and shows how strong women are.

Very cute children’s book about the adventures of the family cat when he goes out at night. The kids are curious about what Lucas does at night so they put a camera on him to record what he does and then they spend the story speculating what adventures Lucas goes on. I love the rhyming that Shannon has done throughout the book and the sing-songy nature it gives to the story. The illustrations are very cute and whimsical. I absolutely love the ending…very cat-like 🙂

What can I say about this beautiful book of poetry? The words and the lilt have taken me back to the 70s where psychedelics were all the rage and the music of the day inspired and ignited a fire within us! The words are raw and oftentimes harsh and cutting but it is truly the journey of one’s inner self and for that I appreciate the honesty and the frankness of his writings. With musical tributes throughout the entire book to the Beatles and Pink Floyd, the nostalgia just continues especially when he mentions vinyl! Oh, the days of pops and crackles when listening to music on vinyl! How I miss those days of youth! I think that every person who reads this wonderland of poetry will find a poem or a thought from the writer that will resonate and make him question his existence or his role on earth. Great book and so welcome to read something so fresh and far from the beaten path!!

I am a sucker for a great vampire book and when I noticed that this one came out, I immediately had to add this to my list of books to read. I was FLOORED at the way the authors wrote and the story that was unfolding for the main character. The premise of this book was not one that I had not heard of in other stories, and I was very interested. I devoured this book super quick and was excited and loved this book. It is getting added to my list of books that I will go back and reread when I cannot find another book that I want to start. I cannot wait to read more books by this author!

Operation Blackbird is a thrilling adventure sequence, similar yet vastly separate to its partner story The Brass Compass. Following the intelligent Miriam who struggles with war nerves from gut wrenching memories of the war, and Jake Devlin, an old friend from her past that brings more than Miriam was expecting to the table. The pair go through their own battles of the mind as they venture through secrecy involving the KGB many years following the destruction of WWII, as well as rescuing each other from past secrets and kidnapping. The amount of historical pieces that went into this story was phenomenal, such as the detail regarding the trauma and severe reality of the effect from the Iron Curtain. I fell into the depths so quickly, it was hard to escape with them! I could not put this book down, and I’m thinking I’ll have to reread it again and again. I’m really hoping Ellen Butler keeps this espionage series going, because my heart can not keep up with only two!!
