Carina is not feeling the Christmas Spirit this year after caring for both of her ill parents and then her own battle with Covid. Carina is unhappy that only one of her children and a member of her online support group are planning to celebrate Christmas with her. She would really love to have all her kids, grandkids and husband together for an old fashioned Christmas. This story touched the heart. I laughed and cried. Such a good book!!

This book is an excellent addition to the Druid’s Brooch Series. The story was easy to get into and the characters were written nicely. This could be read as a stand alone but the other books in the series are just as great and I would highly recommend them.
Almost all of the characters in this book got on my nerves or did things that made me hate them. In saying that, it really made the book all that much more interesting for me. I wanted to read on to see how each person would react to the different situations they were thrown into.
Orlagh is a fool, chasing after a love that wasn’t even there in the beginning just because of one kiss. Temuirr is a promiscuous man that can’t hold a solid relationship which, leads to his sister Yana always exasperated by the situations he gets himself into. Orlagh finds out that her grandfa is arranging a marriage for her with a man from their village, she denounces her grandfa’s care to live on her own and follow her love for Temuirr. Temuirr is surprised and taken aback, he realizes he is in too deep with this woman and may have to court her for real.
Eolande is Orlagh’s best friend, and my favorite character. She always has Orlagh’s back and is a fae that was cast out of her world because she fell in love with a mortal. She follows Oralgh in her quest to track down Temuirr to watch over her and keep her safe. Maelan, Orlagh’s grandfa and Eogan, Maelan’s best friend, go out on a search to find Orlagh and bring her home as well as to her senses regarding the traveling bard, Temuirr. Maelan makes many very terrible decisions regarding his granddaughter in the form of kidnapping her and ruining her relationship with not only Temuirr but him as well.
I don’t want to give away too much more information, but there is some stuff that goes down towards the end and really makes for a nice ending to the book. I did enjoy this book and can’t wait to look into more books from this series.

This series has been great from the beginning, but it really does just keep getting better. Book 5 of the Master of the Consulate series picks up right after the last book. Master Catteneo is not looking for love and definitely not with a human. Alessia is a human but gifted. He doesn’t know what hit him when he meets her. Can she help them find their queen? Can she be trusted? I can’t wait to jump into book 6!

A Christmas to Remember is a well written collection of delightful, Christmas romance stories. I enjoyed being able to read different author’s works in one book. Each story flowed wonderfully. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and seeing where life would take Mercy and Sherry. The author has a way of telling the story of La Llorona in a magical and mystical manner that makes it intriguing and not as frightening as some other stories about La Llorona have been depicted. This is the second work of Marie DeBlassie I’ve read but the first longer workof hers and should definitely be categorized as magical realism. If you enjoy that genre or reading about young women explore life and themselves despite what they are told then you will definitely enjoy this book.

Definitely needs a trigger warning! Tinks story was hard to get through. No girl let alone child deserves to go through was she did. She is an inspiration though to all women and the male characters are as well. The MC being a cover and what she actually does taking down sex trafficking rings is brave and amazing. Hannah and Shadow are two peas in a pod toward the end and I feel like there should be a book about just their relationship. Tank and Noodles are bad a’s for sure but have hearts for who they hold close. The character description is great as well as the acts that take place when they are torturing for information. Incredible story.

Misfortune of Song (The Druid’s Brooch series, Book 5) 4 out of 5 stars
The Druid’s Brooch series does not fall under the category of genres I read very often but with books so well written, I’ve gladly made an exception. Misfortune of Song is the fifth book in the series by Christy Nicholas but it can easily be read by itself; in fact I’ve been reading this series out of order. Once again Christy Nicholas has captured me with her storytelling, in depth characters and fantastic imagery. The storyline had a bit of everything to keep me engaged and my emotions on edge. I believe in my last review I stated that the book I had just read was my favorite in the series, I’d have to go back on my word and say Misfortune of Song has stolen that spot. Let this be an example of the kind of series this is, once you think you couldn’t love the books anymore, you read the next installment. Misfortune of Song has introduced me to a whole new world and much welcomed break from reality, if only for a short period. I will be recommending this author/series to anyone I know that’s looking for a fantastic read all around.

D.M. Earl has already shown how great she is at writing intense stories and this is just another amazing example. I was hooked on this story from the word go and could not put it down. I loved the story of Tink and Ellington. They connection was so strong it pulled me in. The book was really well written. The author has such a unique writing style and it is one I really enjoy. This book has a depth and complexity about it that you wouldn’t necessarily expect from this type of book. This is a brilliant book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This book was an unexpectedly great YA fantasy story. I didn’t really know what to expect when I started reading this book but I was pulled into it straight away. Evan is one of those characters that you can’t help but like. He does things differently to everyone else and I found it really engaging. The book had a great development arc too. It started off relatively so but did not stay that way for long. The author created a pace that added to the book and made it even more enjoyable. This is a new author to me and they have definitely piqued my interest. This is a great book and I would highly recommend it.

If you love friendship, love, betrayal, mischief, heartbreak, and reconciliation, this is the book for you. It hits on hard topics, but it’s totally worth it in the end. Let’s just say that Rhonda does not handle this news well at all because now there are two Lady Laninghams and Rhonda’s not ready to share that title with anyone. Then, just mere days after their marriage, Lord Robert is called away to fight in the war, leaving his new wife with his hostile and, dare I say, crazy, sister. Will Laurel ever be able to adjust to this new life and deal with her sister-in-law?
This book was enjoyable and kept to a lot of historical speech. I found myself laughing at some of the language used, as it’s not heard anymore and sounded funny. There were parts of this book that were never resolved but maybe that wasn’t necessary because in the end, it’s about Robert and Laurel. I’d have liked to known how certain situations would have fleshed out though. This is a fairly clean read with some romantic scenes, but they are not overly descriptive and could be appropriate for mature teen readers.

Misfortune of Song: An Irish Historical Fantasy Family Saga by Christy Nicholas is a blend of fantasy history and Celtic mythology and is another great addition to the series. It is a story that will have your emotions all over the place and will have you laughing and crying. This book can be read as a standalone, as most of them can, but I would read them in order.
Maelan is a man of honour and code, but sometimes his granddaughter, Orlagh could drive him to drink. How far would he go to protect the one thing he loves in his life?
Orlagh is stubborn and bull-headed and often rebels against her grandfather. She wants what she wants and what she wants is the young man she has fallen in love with, be damned the consequences.
This is a world where there is magic and Fae and is wonderfully written to make it a magical read.

The Dwarves Dilemma (Science Folktales) by Lois Wickstrom 4 Stars
This was so much fun to read! It had familiar characters from other fairytales to attract children. The Queen was the fairest in the land so everyone came to her to solve their problems. What happens when the magic mirror shows that both sides are right? The Queen sends Snow White to investigate and she really that the Queen is not being fair. A perfect story to teach children to have good morals. At the back of the book you also learn how mirrors work. It’s very cool!
Maggie Rivers, or Tink as she is known by her club members, is kept busy as the President of the Devil’s Handmaidens. Her dark past is the driving force behind why she is determined to take down human smuggling rings and help those in need. Running the club, a business, and trying to take down human traffickers keeps her busy, but she still feels a void. When ex Navy Seal Ellington Rutledge, or Noodles as his club members call him, comes along to help with a sanctuary him and Tink feel an immediate attraction. Tink and Noodles are perfect for each other but will it last when her past comes back to haunt her?
I loved the strong female characters in this book. Although they were badass and belonged to a motorcycle club, they were doing good in the world as they tried to stop human smuggling. Each woman in the club had her own dark past and trauma which they overcame. This book was action packed and full of suspense throughout. I cannot wait to read the next book!

So this is just an okay story for me. I was expecting a mafia story and felt this is an overbearing businessman story with lots of smexy times. Sure he could be mafia but it is not eluded to until the end. I feel the author is just drawing it out to make it into more books. Not a lot happens through the whole long book other than slooow character development and lots of sex. I got tired of the main character’s thoughts pertaining to a work relationship. A few are fine..half a book..too much.
I also had confusion over the name Matt used more than once. Early on I just ignored it and realized later on I should not have as it became important and I wondered if it was the same person and I just did not make the connection earlier. But it wasn’t.
I did like how the characters met each other, their cute emailing and the danger that arrived. This ends in an unfinished story. Not really a cliffhanger but I just turned the page and the book was over leaving me feeling incomplete. This is not a first time author for me but this one is just not my favorite.

This is the first book in a new series called Devil’s Handmaidens MC. And wow what I start. I love any story that revolves around an MC but the majority of then are male dominated so it was really refreshing to read about a female MC. What I loved is that the women of this MC are just as loyal and fierce as any man and they will do what ever it takes to protect the people they care about. This story is very emotional as well as Tink our main character is on the search for her sister who was kidnapped. Thinking she was taken into a traffic ring Tink and her fellow Handmaidens set out to save and take down as many of these trafficking as she can. There is also an element of romance in this story when Noodles walks into Tinks life. Add to the romance the element of danger when Tinks life is put at risk and this is definately a story with something for everyone.
The question is will Tink ever find her sister? And when the past comes back to haunt her will her club and Noodle be enough to protect her. I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read more about the Devil’s Handmaiden’s MC

Love this author truly, they never disappoint me in all they write and create. I was very much taken with this book, it was full of intrigue and strong female characters A book and series right up my alley!
Loved Tink and Noodles. Both had rough circumstances in the past, that have brought them to where they are in life. They were both strong leads. As well as that, they had very strong chemistry together. I loved what Tink stood for, she was in charge of a motorcycle group that helped women, from dangers they could come into, great cause I must say. All the members in this group, have been through the hardest of times, and are still standing. I loved the group for sure, but when you stand for the greater good, there are always others that want to bring you down, The book takes off really fast. A whirlwind kind of action and adventure. Was sucked in completely. Could not put it down! Exceptional reading by an amazing author! Loved it!
I loved this book with a passion, then again, its written by one of my favorite authors. I think it was a great start to a new series! I look forward to the next book! Highly recommend this must read book and author!

The beginning is a little slow and dialogue seems a bit disjointed, but as the story unfolds, this book becomes hard to put down. It becomes this fantastical adventure with an original storyline that has the reader invested in not only Hassan’s success in his current predicament, but also in finding his path moving forward. An interesting twist in managing cultural expectations and an exploration in one’s own part in finding or running away from destiny.

Although it started off slow, I really enjoyed reading this. It’s giving modern Salem witch trials and I love it. I’m a sucker for magic and I loved how realistic the magic felt in this, it felt more authentic than other stories. Also yay for queen romances! This makes me wonder what I would do if I suddenly woke up with powers.

Dia’s Lure is a paranormal fantasy romance. It is the third book in a series. I didn’t read the first two books, and while I think I would have understood a few things a bit better, I think it was fine as a stand-alone.
Dia has been on the run for years. She has very few friends and does not stay in one place for too long in an effort to keep hunters from finding her or her family. She struggles to trust others, and this shows in her interactions with a group of people she stumbles across. Add in a person from her past showing up, and things get interesting.
Carver is a very interesting character. He has had to make some hard choices in his life and is willing to bear the consequences. He and Dia have history and chemistry, and when Milos gets added in, things get spicy.
All three characters have chemistry with each other and together. It was interesting to watch how things unfolded. There was an element of ‘fated mates’ even if that wasn’t overtly talked about, as they were all drawn to each other and were quick to succumb to it.
While the main plot of this story was told, I want to know more about some of the side characters and what else happens for the swans. I look forward to reading more in this world.
I absolutely loved Jim and Juliet! Jim’s inability to take anything seriously was one of my favourite aspects of the story. Juliet’s love for literature and the way it brought them together was absolutely perfect. Their chemistry was off the charts right from the get-go, and it was absolutely wonderful. I loved Juliet’s caring heart, and Jim’s goofy, yet cautious ways when it came to Charles, and the issues that brought upon her. Jim is forever caring, and wonderful toward everyone he meets, even when he’s unsure about them. I loved their banter of different play quotes and the way that it was continued throughout the story. Juliet’s ability to pull quotes from different plays at any given moment is absolutely bananas! Her brain is like a wealth of literary knowledge and I loved every second of it.

I really enjoyed this military romance, which kept me happily turning the pages. Pippa has left her abusive ex husband and knows that as long as he’s behind bars she safe. Having indulged in a very passionate one night stand with a handsome stranger, she ends up pregnant. As they met at a masquerade party and didn’t exchange names, there is no way Pippa can let the man know that he’s going to be a father. Pippa now fears that once her ex husband is released, if he finds out she has a son with another man that he will want revenge. Meanwhile, the masked gladiator, Tanner “Diesel” Taylor is a SEAL and takes his responsibilities seriously, he never imagined that his amazing one night stand with a woodland fairy would have consequences. However, when he learns two years later that he has a son, Bryce, with Pippa he wants to meet his son straight away. Unfortunately, Tanner arrives to late and both Pippa and Bryce have been abducted by her violent ex husband, having been released from prison. Luckily, Deisel is armed with his vast SEAL skills and training and is determined to get his son and Pippa back safely. Pippa is trapped with her angry and enraged ex husband, and not knowing that help is on the way she is desperately trying to keep herself and her son safe. This was a fast paced story with an exciting storyline and plenty of plot twists that kept me hooked. I loved the characters and the chemistry between Pippa and Tanner really came across in the narrative. A great read and I look forward to future books in this series.

This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up her books. They are well written, engaging and hard to put down. This book is no different. It is a fast paced, well written story about a female motorcycle club. Ellington is looking for a new start and she has a past that comes to the present. I enjoyed their chemistry and their growth throughout. They pull you into their story from the start. They are connectable and I had no problem picturing myself in their environment. This is a great story that I loved reading. It has just a little bit of everything in it which makes it easy to read and entertaining. You don’t want to miss this book. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is the fifth book in this series, it is just as enjoyable as the previous books in this series. In this book, Maelan is faced with making a choice with his granddaughter, Orlargh. What will happen when she falls for Timurir? Will she rebell and what are the bargains Orlargh must make to save her? These are great characters that keep the story engaging and come to life for me. I also enjoy the Fae, they are creative and bring twists to the story. I highly recommend this book.
