A Dowry of Snails and Mud by Brittany Tucker is a fun YA historical romantic comedy with an arranged marriage, opposites attract, finding love unexpectedly, agendas, duty, responsibility, humour, banter, emotion, and drama.
I enjoyed this fun little romp, but being Ms. Tucker’s debut novel, I really wasn’t sure of what to expect from her. But the title definitely piqued my curiosity, and I could help snapping up a copy to discover what it was all about.
Rhia Caddell is a very independent and capable 16-year-old living in a small town in Wales. For a long time the town has struggled to prosper, falling on hard times that have now led to some difficult decisions, such as the arranged marriage of Rhia to the Prince of Wales. Most girls would be giddy at the chance to marry a prince and become royalty- Rhia, not so much. She isn’t impressed by the thought of becoming a princess, much less her new, ‘delicate’, husband. But debts much be paid, and so the story begins-
Happy Reading…

Thank You, Brittany Tucker!
