This is an intriguing story right from the start. There is a lot going on and it felt as though the story could go any way at any time. I was hooked on the story and just had to know how it would develop. The author captured Dominic’s emotions so well. You could it across each page as he experienced everything he goes through. For me, this added a depth to the book that otherwise could have been missing. This author never fails to capture my attention with her writing style. Each book she releases is different from the previous ones and yet has her familiar feel to it. I have enjoyed every book I have read and this one is no exception. I thought this was a great story and I would definitely recommend it.

This is a really good second-chance mafia romance. I really enjoyed the plot line and the way May advanced her story. Nothing ever felt rushed but I never felt there was anything missing either. I loved the character development of Luke (Lu) and Nikolai. We get their backstory and how they were once a couple, but Lu ran after Nikolai expressed his feelings for her. Lu thoughts she’d left Nikolai behind, but he had been keeping a close eye on her all this time and she wasn’t as over him as she thought she was. If you are looking for a dark, steamy romance then look no further; this is the book for you. It’s a quick read, I didn’t want to put it down!

This is my typical go to type of book to read BUT I am so glad I chose it!! It was so good! The book was about historical spy thriller. Operation Blackbird was so intense and action packed you will enjoy every page of it! It was a page turner for me. The world building, characters, and plot was thought out perfectly!!

Jacklyn Stone is struggling to overcome the sudden death of her husband. She is trying to wade her way through the grieving process but feels overwhelmed by the myriad of emotions that she is experiencing. After losing the love of her life Jacklyn feels lost and lonely without him and often feels extreme guilt over having not been able to save her husband. At other times she feels anger over the secrets that her husband kept hidden from her during their marriage.
Jacklyn is usually strong and outgoing but now she struggles to keep herself going and chooses to stay home reading instead. Normally a competent business woman Jacklyn now finds her once thriving business starting to flounder. She feels as though she is losing a grip on her life and in the midst of her grief starts to make small mistakes. Her son, Dusty, and her daughter, Rose, are concerned about their mom’s mental health so they offer to take her on a mini vacation to a retreat where she can relax and heal.
Jacklyn is hesitant to go to the retreat but once she sees the beautiful surroundings she feels as though this might be just what she needed to heal. However, once inside Shore Lodge she soon discovers that there is something far more sinister at work. Jacklyn soon discovers that it is actually a psychiatric facility and that she has no hope of ever leaving. Her children have not only lied to her, but they have abandoned her and had her committed. Cut off from the outside world Jacklyn struggles to maintain her sanity and find a way to escape from the facility.
This book was a roller coaster ride of emotions for me. I felt great empathy for Jacklyn and my heart broke for her to see what her children did to her. She was grieving the loss of her husband of 37 years and rather than show compassion her children had her committed to a psychiatric facility. Then being spoken to and treated as though she was crazy by the staff made me cringe and I wanted to scream at them for mistreating Jacklyn.
Dusty seemed kind and caring initially and at first glance he seems to have his mom’s best interests at heart. It does not take long to realize that all he cares about is himself and his own gain. Dusty made me so angry that he took advantage of his mom like that when she was experiencing such loss and trauma. He was the epitome of evil and is clearly a narcissist who could not see beyond his own selfish needs with no thought to how it effected others. I could not fathom ever doing such horrible things to my own mother or being so cruel and heartless. Rose seemed as though she was just too wrapped up in her own life and her pursuit of a career to find time for her mom. It was easier to let someone else take charge so she could do her own thing. In time, it seems that Rose does care for her mom and wants to help her. Whether Rose felt guilty and changed her mind about having her mom committed, or she had a change of heart, is the question.
This book was intense from start to finish and will have you questioning who you truly trust! A must read for anyone looking for a psychological thriller.

This was written by a new writer to me, so I was not sure what to expect. A friend recommended it after she read it and I am so glad that she mentioned it to me. It was highly enjoyable and not at all what I expected. In other words, it is not my typical fairy tale romance as it involved an arranged marriage of characters from two different worlds. The heroine is such a strong-willed character that you cannot help but love her. She is prepared to do whatever it takes and will stop at nothing to save her people even if it means marrying someone she does not love. Of course, throughout the story and all the incidents that occur it is no surprise at how the story ends. It was an extremely fast paced read for me and I would highly recommend it if you are into young adult romances.

I Loved this book!! After Reading Everything to Me, the 1st book in this series and Loving it, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Book 2, Throwing The Curve and it did not disappoint!! However this book can be read on it’s own but I suggest reading both! I’m not one to give out to much info in a review because When I start reading a book I don’t want spoilers. If you read the 1st one and loved it, you’ll love this one too, if you didn’t read the first one it’s ok read this then go back to the other! I really enjoyed this romance. Its a story full of twists and turns which keeps me hooked. The author does an amazing job with the characters and really brings them to life. I love how Luke is really independent and wants to do things her own way. And i love how fierce and protective Nikolai is.
Luke and Nikolai have had an intimate past. But when a Luke calls it off Nikolai isn’t ready to let her go so easily. Luke moves forward living her life the way she chooses with no thought for anyone. Meanwhile Nikolai keeps an eye on her from a distance.
When Luke witnessed an event that puts her in danger Nikolai is right there to protect her and keep her safe, but Luke isn’t going to give up without a fight. She’s not so sure she wants to be back with a man like Nikolai even if it keeps her safe
This story is a dark Mafia Romance. There’s is chemistry and lots of push and pull as both out characters fight for what they want. Will it be each other?

As a bee lover, I can truly appreciate this book for sharing so much useful information. I mean, the way the author made it was a clever read for me as an adult and easy for kids to understand as well. I’m beyond impressed with what and how my son was able to pick up on the importance. The characters were easy to love and understand as well. My 7 and 3 year old boys enjoyed this story as much as I did and I’m 35, LOL! Great read for the family to enjoy.

Join Delilah “Mitzy” Crumbworthy as she moves to Snowflake Valley to start a new adventure opening a bakery shop, specifically muffins. I really enjoyed the characters and getting to know them on a personal level along with Delilah. I was especially drawn to Elinor. The story pulls you right in and each chapter keeps you reading well past your bedtime.

Throwing the Curve (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser. This is the second book in the Playing for Keeps Series and its Peyton and Ryan’s story. I loved this book and I have loved this series so far. They can be read as standalones! Peyton is a coordinator at Kid’s Play and she makes a deal with the Hawks Baseball team to come and help at the Center where she meets Andy. Little does she know but Andy is married and she ends up in a mess with him. Ryan is the pitcher for the Hawks and he’s mad at Andy for cheating on his wife again. At a party Andy introduces his wife to Peyton as Ryan’s girlfriend so they play along. Peyton and Ryan end up having to fake a relationship for publicity and they are neither one happy about it. This book was ok for me. I’m not really into dark mafia so I had a had time engaging in the plot. I did like the chemistry between Luke and Nikolai. The Russian also made it a little hard for me to stay engaged too. I did like the different POV of the story.

Hit on You by Brooke May. This is a great mafia romance which I love. I love this author as well. This is the story of Luke whose biggest fear is ending up like her mom and thinking she always has to have a man. She wants to be completely independent. When she meets Nikolai Bazhenov, a made man, she knows he is dangerous but thinks one time won’t hurt. Problem is Nikolai won’t let her go. He can’t stop thinking about her. When she witnesses something that she stumbled onto she has to call Nikolai to help her out of the situation. Nikolai doesn’t realize that Luke is also running from someone in her past and has more than one target on her back. Will Nikolai be able to save her? Read this dark mafia romance to find out.

This book is hitting me in all the areas that I need from a great mafia book. The main character is a very strong willed and determined female. I love the fact that her name is Luke. She is wanting to be in control of her own life and doesn’t want to feel like she needs to answer to anyone for what she wants in life. Her only downfall (as she sees it) is who she loves. He is dark and mysterious and everything that she feels she doesn’t need in life. It is one of those instances when you know what you want but feel that it isn’t good for you. This causes some tension with the main characters. It is a constant back and forth with them. Each page will have you wondering if they can overcome the issues that are in front of them? Will they be able to see how good they can be together? Will his position really strangle the freedom that she is craving? Those were the things that I constantly asked myself the whole time reading this book and what kept me turning the pages. It is a very steamy dark romance and I ate it up. It has everything from danger to angry love. This book won’t disappoint if you are a regular mafia romance reader. If you haven’t read that genre before be prepared for a steamy bumpy ride. It will be well worth it.

This book is book four of the series but each book in the series is a complete standalone. This is the first book I’ve read of the series and while I didn’t feel lost at all, I’m definitely going back to read the rest because it was just too good not to.
This book sucked me in right from the beginning. I’m a sucker for the best friend’s brother trope. Soleil has loved Tripp for as long as she can remember. What she doesn’t know is how Tripp has felt about her. Soleil’s background is complicated and that’s why she needs the help of Red Cage. She needs to find out what secrets are hiding. I’m not going to give anything away but wow! Red a cage figures out what’s hiding and that’s all I’ll say about that. There is a lot of intrigue and mystery and I couldn’t put this book down!
Soleil and Tripp are great characters. There is so much chemistry between them it was jumping off the pages! Can’t forget best friend/sister Tillie. All the characters were well written making this a definite book to read!

I wasn’t sure who I was rooting for most of the book. This second chance romance, had me in many emotions as Mavis navigates her way through feelings of twin brothers.
These characters were so relatable.

Peyton thought she had met the guy she could possible settle down with but when she is invited to his friends barbeque and realises he has a wife her whole world comes crashing down. So when Steve pushes her off to his team-mate Ryan when Steve’s wife makes an appearance Peyton is a little annoyed.
Totally embarrassed Peyton makes he way out of the party but once away from the humiliation she discovers Ryan is one of the player due to be in her mentorship program so biting the bullet she approaches him and is met with a proposition. To be Ryan’s fake girlfriend?
Ryan is the loner not really a party man but can’t get over the blant way some of his team mates cheat on their wives, when one particular player becomes unstuck with the lie he drags in Ryan to save face from his wife and becomes utterly annoyed with the situation. But Ryan can’t let this woman go, the fire and sass this woman has makes for an interesting game and the sexual chemistry is off the charts with them. So he decides to offer her a solution, a kind of Friends with Benefits situation with a few fake dates thrown in.
We all know what will happen with that, it never runs as smoothly and this relationship gets interesting the more they argue with each other they are not attracted to each other.
I loved this book, the Enemies to Friends genre is one I am becoming very fond of, these two characters are both fiery and strong willed, both not willing to admit their feelings are growing between them which makes for an interesting story. The story is well written and flows along brilliantly with each turn of the page. Peyton’s character although a bit naïve at the beginning grows with you as you read her past and understand why she is so guarded. I loved the character of Ryan, the cocky ball player who has a mushy heart underneath although not original was heart warming and brilliant.
I loved the additional characters in the form of Ryan’s sister Kendall and how she helps Peyton with her insecurities when it comes to Ryan, overall the story was lovely and would love to read more from this series and hopefully see Steve get what he deserves.

Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.
Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays.
She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.
Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children, four grandchildren and a dog.
4.5/5 Stars This was my first read in this series and I really enjoyed it! This book was written so well and the world building was great. It’s not hard to read even though it’s apart of a series. The storyline is soooo good. It sucks you right in and makes you want to read the entire series.

When I say this book is good! From the first chapter I loved it. At times I had to go get a drink of water. She writes it in the way we go back and forth between two POV’s. I love that I can genuinely get to know both of them because of this. The connection between the two characters is just electrifying. A mix of hate, love, and lust with two very strong willed people is something to look forward to turning every page.
Hit on You really does a good job at keeping me on the edge of my seat because it really kept me kinda guessing what was gonna happen next. Was I going to hot and bothered, scared, angry, or left wondering why? The characters are greatly described to the point I really could sit, see, and feel every emotion, every word, and every touch. This is a great piece of work and I would love to see what more great books Ms. May will write.

This is book three in the Benoit and Dayne Mystery Series. It stands well on it’s own and the author gives tidbits regarding to the first two books. This is a gripping, keep you on the edge of your seat police crime triller novel. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the pages turning. The story keeps you guessing as to who is the guilty party. The novel is a fantastic storyline that keeps you hooked until the end!

The Man In Black is the debut novel by L.R. Liverpool. It is a bit of a gritty thriller with drama, action, adventure, emotion, MM romance, mystery, history, suspense and more. It had a bit of a documentary/memoir-esque feel to it which gave it an extra element of interest, for me. We follow as Fenimore (Simon) leaves home to become a famous outlaw. His adventures begin and the story takes off. Along the way there is plenty of action, while Fenimore also explores his feeling for one of the members of the outlaw gang. Romance brings its own complications to the situation. But where does the Man In Black fit into it all? Upon reading the description of True Colors, I thought it would be good for my 13 year old. I wanted to read it first, to see how it approached the topics outlined. I really enjoyed the story line, and it was relatable to middle school life for a girl. It addresses topics of parent separation, friend betrayal, jealousy, peer pressure, self esteem, first crushes, and more. I liked that the author showed how these things made Landry feel, and the different friendship styles among the girls she hung out with. Each girl had her moment, where she was supportive, or not such a good friend, and how each girl handled it. It made me remember how mean kids can be and how hard the teen years are. The only thing I thought was unrealistic was the financial aspects- Landry makes comments about her mom being tight on money, but then Landry is at the movies or mall every weekend. It was a well written book, and I will be suggested it to my daughter to read.

This delightful children’s book was a fun read with a great message! Our main character, Half-Pint, wants to hurry and go to Pirate School and leave the Poop Deck school behind! However, the new things that this entails are scary and hard to process for Half-Pint but didn’t want to listen to others who told her to be patient. The way the character’s dialogue worked was a little too different, but I understand it was a focused Pirate theme story. Otherwise, I enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it for a young reader as it is very whimsical and touches on how difficult changes are even when we want them to happen!
The illustrations are just captivating! I find myself more joyful at the turn of each page to see how the artist brought the story to life.

Or is their connection fragile due secrets they don’t even know about?
This was an interesting book that I enjoyed reading. I figured out the secret pretty early on…but didn’t know how it would come out. The story has a paranormal element that I found entertaining. Dominics anger was felt coming off of the pages…as was Whitneys determination to prove she was who she said she was! The back and forth was entertaining while the “bedroom” scenes were H-O-T! Overall, a good book.

Half-Pint is an adorable little piggy who has some trouble deciding where to stay. First, she lived on the Poop Deck, where there were diapers and she had to take naps. She dreamed of one day being like her older siblings and going to Pirate School. This book has a nice lesson about being patient, and also careful about what you ask for. It also includes vibrant illustrations that add details to the words of the story. Kids would enjoy reading about Half-Pint and her journey to begin Pirate School.

This book brought out all kinds of emotions for me! I have never been so curious, angry, supportive and so invested in a plot like this before! It was a rollercoaster from the start! A real page turner, you needed to keep reading to find out what would happen next. I could not put this book down till I finished it! A very captivating mystery thriller that kept you on the edge of your seat and wanting more! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a different mystery book that has you feeling for the characters and cheering them on to reach their ultimate goal! I really enjoyed this book and hope to read more from this author soon!

Shore Lodge by Susan Specht Oram. This book was so good. I devoured in 2 nights. Its the story of Jacklyn Stone who has just lost her husband of 37 years. She is still reeling from his death and struggling to get her life back on track. She has a business that is struggling to keep a float and her finances are not adding up. Learning that her husband has given a huge portion of their nest egg to their son for a business she knew nothing about shakes her even more. Her daughter is concerned but has her own life and isn’t as concerned as their son Dusty who eventually talks her into signing a power of attorney to him. He talks her into going to a “lodge” for some rest and relaxation and she finally gives in. She does not want to go but decides maybe it will do her good. When she gets there she realizes that its a psychiatric ward and she can’t leave until they release her. While trying to find out if her kids knew about this or were tricked as well she decides the only way to get out of this horrible place is to escape. Will she be able to get out and survive? Read this fast paced thriller to find out!

I enjoy Mafia romances! This was my first taste of Russian Mafia romance. Hit on You was good. I enjoyed it enough that I didn’t want to put it down. I’ve read this author before and she did not disappoint with this one. This author is creative and thorough so you know everything that’s going on. Not one to confuse because info is overlooked. She sucks the reader in. gets you invested in her characters. Which is what makes her good at her craft. Luke and Nikolai are two people from different walks of life who happen to cross paths. However that path now has them forever connected, even if Luke isn’t aware. She runs away from Nikolai a year earlier when he uses the “L” word. Little did she know he knew where she was and kept tabs on her ever since. And when she becomes a witness to an unexpected incident gives him the opportunity to swoop back in. Nikolai is a made man in his Seattle family. Doing everything his uncle asks of him, while his cousin does what he wants. But despite all that his wants for the one who got away never cease. It’s when protection is needed, does he jump on the opportunity to come back into her life. Protection that he may need to give against someone of his very own. He just doesn’t know who. Who would be that careless? And is it connected to his sister’s death? Those are the questions he needs to answer. Love, lust, anger, stubbornness, happiness, sadness, devastation this book has it all. I wanted to read more about these characters, I didn’t want it to end.
