Incredible story! Emma is a wonderful model to other women and girls. She is strong, independent, fierce but she is also caring, sympathetic, and compassionate. She doesn’t need a man to help her but recognizes when it’s welcomed. I could go on and on about Emma, she’s awesome. This story broke my heart in regards to the children, and seeing Emma and her team solve the entire case was so genius. There are three different cases in this book and the author does such a wonderful job of moving from one onto the next. The three cases are all so cleverly thought out and solved, the second case with the three women and the one man they all hate was my favorite to watch unfold. I have a strong feeling we are not done with see John Harden either. Wonderful book, I could go on and on with praise.

In this quick prequel, we meet Riley, who appears to be a con artist alongside her mom. We aren’t given much about their background but perhaps the series will enlighten us more. Riley meets Cole at a party where they share a quick yet heated kiss. Although this is a fast read, the author was able to lay out the groundwork for what to expect with the series and give us some info about our main characters. Looking forward to seeing what occurs in the first book of this series.

Little Red’s Grandma asks her to bring some cone flowers to her house to make tea with. On the way she encounters a wolf with a devious plan which she is not aware of until she finds her Grandma looks mysteriously like the wolf.

Different take on Little Red Riding Hood. I liked the idea of how she identifies plants. Entertaining story, I think kids would enjoy.

This is the 4th book in The Thunder On The Moors series. I really recommend reading these books in order as the story continues through them and you would miss out on a lot of the characters backstories and history which may make it a bit of a confusing read.

This is a historical time travelling romance. I love the author’s attention to details in the time period and the descriptions and writing reflect that period which makes you feel like you are experiencing it first hand. Being a historical story there is a lot of adventure and danger as the rival clans are constantly at war with one another.
Will and Maggie have finally escaped back to the twentieth century. After everything they have been through they feel they could finally be together and be safe. However that isn’t the case. When Dylan finds a problem in the fabric of time he finds a way to contact Will and Maggie to tell them they need to return as them not doing so would change both time periods and it wouldn’t be for the better.

There are several problems though. 1stly the amulet they use to travel is out of stone so it doesn’t work anymore, 2nd they don’t know what exactly they need to do to fix the fabric of time and save both time periods and finally what will happen if they return. The whole reason they left was because it wasn’t safe for them so will returning prove to be a huge mistake?

The author’s writing is amazing and as a reader you feel transported in time, following the characters as they try to find the balance between doing what’s right and finally having their happy ever after.

The author’s attention to details really makes you feel like you are back in 16th Century in the Scottish borders. I loved this even more as that’s where I currently live so it was nice to imagine going back to that time period.

Overall the story is fast paced and engaging. You won’t be able to put it down until you find out if Maggie and Will can fix the tear in the fabric of time.

C.A. King has done it again! Another great written book. The details and world building is on point. This book was a medical romance type of read. This book is amazing. First thing first, you do need to read the first book in this series to understand fully what is going on. I skipped it, however, I will be going back to read it. I mean you can read this book without reading the first but it makes it harder to understand the dynamic between Jase and Cyrus. This book picks up where the other left off and it goes into detail about things but I feel I would have had a fuller understanding of what was happening had I read the first book before this one. That being said, this book is still amazing and I felt myself getting swept away with the story. It brings elements into the concept of Romeo and Juliet. There isn’t much of a resemblance to the actual Romeo and Juliet story because this one is between two males, had supernatural aspects, and really the only thing it has in common with Romeo and Juliet is the forbidden love between the two main characters. That said, it was an amazing spin on a timeless classic piece of literature. The slow burn between the charters that builds throughout the book. You can tell instantly how much they each care for each other and you can also feel, how everyone disagrees with some of their choices. It has angst, suspense, drama, love, and some good steam. You will not be disappointed reading this book if you like celestial, paranormal romance. I just suggest reading the first book in the series before this one so you are all caught up and not struggling to figure out things along the way. However, if you. just want to devour a great book and don’t mind not knowing everything but eventually being able to piece things together, go for it!!! This book will leave you wanting more, so I am excited to go back and read the first one in the series.

Little Red, the Detective is the fifth book in the Science Folktales series by Lois Wickstrom. This is an illustrated children’s fantasy story- a reimagining of the classic fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood- where Maureen (aka Red) does a little investigating to find out what happened to her Grandma, with a little adventure along the way.
The story has some mystery, investigation, drama, lessons, science, a wily wolf, Red’s missing Grandma, cookies, flowers, knitting, fingerprinting, and animal control- this also has a bit of a ‘darker’ tone than some of Ms. Wickstrom’s other children’s books.
Again, this is one of her books where the internal illustrations are not of the same quality or style of the cover image- as the internal illustrations are a little more naïve, simplistic, bland, and somewhat boring…. which was a little bit of a letdown. They just don’t grab and hold your attention like the cover image does, so I feel like they let the story down. I think in a more whimsical style story those types of illustrations might work- but they missed the mark here, especially considering the ‘darker’ tone of the story too.

A tale of time travel full of action, suspense, romance, and so much more. I missed a book in the series. It was a bit confusing keeping track of who’s who but it didn’t take me too long before I caught up on the main characters. Time travel can sure make things complicated but the characters work together to fix things when Maggie unexpectedly ends up traveling back to the 16th century.
I enjoy reading books that take place in times from the past and this book doesn’t disappoint. The story and the characters kept me interested. Things progress along at a good pace so it’s easy to keep reading. I would recommend this book to friends and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

This is the first book by Ryan M. Becker that I have read. I have read poetry before and this one was very colorful. If you like the Beatles, you will like the poetry that comes with this book. This book is a full collection of poems as well as the background is colorful and full of designs. I am not a big fan of the poetry thing but I did read this one.

The first of a trilogy, I was hooked from about 10 pages in. I normally don’t read fantasy, but quickly got drawn into Ian Troy and the pain, suffering, and perseverance he endures. The writing is stellar at feeling his intense emotions as he battles others as well as himself.

I appreciated the book had an ending, because so many trilogies I have read previously do not have each book have a proper ending (just setting up the next book), but this is not the case here.

One thing I didn’t like (again, I don’t read a lot of fantasy) was the amount of dead bodies/gore involved in the book. I did like the plot, and how the author clearly thought out how the characters interact with each other, and no obvious plot flaws or goofs. The crown of stones plot line is also intriguing- can’t wait to find out what happens to it in book #2.

Magic Scars continues where the first book of the trilogy leaves off. The reader discovers more of the history of the crown of stones, and Ian (and his family’s) part in it. Along the way, Ian continues with his struggle of controlling the uncontrollable magic running through is Erudite veins.

Throughout the book, the author continues with the fantastic descriptions of the various settings as the first book, especially of the Langorian prison and refugee camp. The blood, sex and gore, which I didn’t care for in the first book, also continues. However, I am drawn in and interested in what happens to Ian and his colleagues to continue reading the series.

The last of a trilogy, I was continually intrigued to find out what happens to Ian- does he save the realm or does the universe have something else in store for him? No spoilers here, I strongly suggest you read this installment (Magic-Borne) to discover the finale for yourself.

Akin to the other two books in the series, I liked how the author used italicized writing to emphasize the connection or time jump- helped myself as a reader clue in something was different. I also appreciated how the loose ends of each sub plot, some resulting from way back in book 1, were tied up succinctly is this las volume. As I stated in my reviews of the other two books, too much gore/blood/bodies for my personal opinion, but being dark fantasy genre, I understand it sometimes comes with the territory. Overall, I would highly recommend reading the entire trilogy, the middle book drags a bit, but the overarching story is first class.

This is the first book in this series. It is a high school bully romance. Basically a hate to like. I read the prequel and liked it so I though I would grab this one. This one was very slow moving and I struggled a lot with it. There is little movement forward and the bullying is minimal. The story revolves around Riley and the Elite boys. The storyline gets confusing at times and the characters have little growth. The story does read easy for the most part. This does not end at the conclusion of this book. Everything is still up in the air until the next book arrives.

Little Red gets a call from her Grandma to come for a visit. Grandma is making a new sweater and needs to make sure it’s going to fit properly. Grandma requests that Little Red pick up a certain flower to bring to her for making tea. Little Red has a book that will help her identify the proper flower. Along the way to Grandma’s, Little Red comes across a wolf who tricks her with some flowers. These flowers are not in Little Red’s book so she keeps looking while the wolf pays Grandma a visit.

I found this book to be cute. I even laughed out loud at one point. This book might not be for super young readers though as they may find the wolf too scary. I like how the focus is on using a book to identify different types of flowers. Grandma also uses those flowers to make tea. This is a great book for encouraging nature walks, flower identification, and using natural resources in ways that might not have been thought of otherwise.

This is a great collection of short stories. I can’t pick a favourite as I love them all. The stories are all different. From unseen things in the dark, things going bump in the night, invisible friends with evil intent and a story of a life after death there is something for everyone.
There have been stories that made me shiver with fear, parts where I was scared to carry on ready and in the final story my heart felt so sad for everyone affected my the loss of their loved one.

This book is called Insomnia and I can understand why. Some of these stories definately need to be read with the light on while others make you think and gives you a sense of sadness as you hear the stories being told.
I don’t normally like scary stories but I really enjoyed these stories. Even the ones that made me jump.

Riley and Cole have a very brief history: a soul-changing kiss at a party. Although, Riley wasn’t invited to that party; she crashed it with her mom to rob the house. After Cole kissed Riley, she and her mom quickly left but the memory of the kids remained. When Riley returns to town a year later to live a “normal life,” Cole tells everyone she’s off limits and she quickly becomes his target. This book is fast paced and easy to read. There is a prequel but you do not have to read it to understand the context of the story. Looking forward to the next one!

This is the second book in the series, so I would highly recommend reading the first before starting this one.
I love twists and retellings of the classics so when I came across this book (bonus points for paranormal elements – angels) I knew I had to read both books.

Jace and Cyrus are great characters. There are other well-written characters in this book, but as the main characters Jace and Cyrus steal the show. The struggle they face following the conclusion of the last book is gut-wrenching and the pain they feel is written well. I really felt for the pair as they suffered.
I was rooting for them from the beginning and was invested to see how they would navigate the obstacles in their way as they made their way forward.

  • If you enjoy retellings, angels and forbidden love, I would recommend this book.

I love a good friends to lovers book! This was very different from others, which was a good thing.
Abby and Nate have been friends forever. They live in a small town and everyone knows everyone’s business. Abby’s mom likes to meddle and setup dates for her, even if some are just plain wrong.
When she confides in her sister about wanting a baby no matter what she has to do, her sister offhandedly mentions she should ask Nate.
When Nate agrees but with stipulations, Abby is in for a wild ride, pun intended.

These 2 had chemistry that neither one ever wanted to explore for fear of losing the other. This author definitely made me have all the feels, the ups and downs, and all the heat up your kindle moments too. I will be reading more in this series, adding to my TBR list now.

Admittedly, it has been a while since I picked up a book of poetry, however; Euphoric Wonderland sounded interesting. I am glad that I did decide to read this book. Wow! The poems take you on a journey from the depths of darkness to the light.

Whether you enjoy all of the poems, or even a few from this collection; it is worth the read!

I’m giving the book 3 stars because I have mixed feelings. It was entertaining and kept my attention, I liked that music brought Niamh and Connor together and I loved their violin battle; but then after she discovers her true power, I felt the love of music was placed randomly and didn’t flow with the rest of the story. I felt there were other random fillers that didn’t go with the story either. Although I wished to see the war everyone kept talking about, I enjoyed meeting all the other characters. Meeting her brother started to show how cruel their mother really is and makes you look forward to seeing what she will do to try to stop Niamh from becoming Queen.
I believe the book to be a standalone, but I wish it was a series or could become a series with standalones because I would love to hear more about the vampires. I can’t say much without spoiling what happens with Conner, but they are all special, it was a very interesting piece in the book. I know Niamh would be perfect helping them all find out more about themselves.
In the end the author has a playlist of songs that helped inspire Niamh and Conner, I felt they fit them perfectly.

I never thought I was going to be into short series like this one but I have to say I was drawn into Riley and Cole from the start. The author Isla Vaughn did an amazing job! Who knew that a woman like Riley can hold so long her V-Card (funny way to say her precious gift)? Love it how Cole, a hot guy like him can get any girls he wants was drawn into Riley but they were enemies from the start funny life, but love has its way.

Hephaestus was born and thrown away by his mother Hera. Raised by the sea witch, Hephaestus, the God of Fire, did his best to stay under the radar but his poor leg he found himself lacking but a gift becomes a power. He meets his brother and sister who he barely tolerates. Everything changes though when he meets his mother again and she demands he stay with her. Not because she feels any love, but because she wants the gifts he can make with fire and iron. All is not appears though Hephaestus is mindful in everything he does.

The story takes you on a tale filled with mythological gods and goddesses that you have heard stories of. I had not read of Hephaestus though. I listened to this on audiobook and the narration is fantastic. All the emotions with the different characters are read so well, you are swooped up in the story.

This book, 8th in the series, kept me on my toes in the best way! There was a lot of twists and turns and it was refreshing to read something I didn’t find predictable! Madeline is such a great character and I will definitely be reading more from the series to dig deeper! Author writes an addictive tale that is full of mystery, suspense, and is so well put together! Worth a read!!!

Breach of Trust by Cynthia Hamilton is the 8th book in the Madeline Dawkins series. It is able to be read as a standalone though you would probably have a better understanding of the intricacies if you’d read the previous books. Madeline, a PI, and her team have three new cases dropped in their lap in a single hour – malicious letters directed at residents of a retirement village, a missing 18 year old, and a very nasty divorce. While the team seeks to resolve all three cases at once, readers are brought along for the crazy ride. It features a fast-paced storyline, enjoyable twists, and a well-written protagonist you’ll love to hate.
