Smooth Hoperator (Love on Tap Book 2) by Sylvie Stewart – Review by Stephanie Runyon

Smooth Hoperator (Love on Tap, #2)Smooth Hoperator by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second book in Sylvie Stewart’s Love on Tap series featuring Sunny and Carter. Carter has left his political career without notice and returned to work at the Blue Bigfoot Brewery with his brother. A year later, he finds himself in the library that Sunny works at. Sunny has been the caretaker for her grandfather, Duke, who says the government is full of corruption. When the brewery gets a surprise inspection, Carter notices the inspector get into a car with Washington, D.C., plates. He has been receiving warning texts, and it is too much of a coincidence. He goes to the library and logs onto the dark web to send a private message to someone who is local. Sunny received a text from her crush, Sebatian, to go run errands together. Carter approaches the desk and asks about a public phone since his car battery is dead. Sunny offers to jumpstart his car. On her presumed date, she sees Duke disappear around a tree. She stops her car and finds Carter and Duke. Sebastian leaves on foot. Carter needs information that Duke’s connection in Memphis can provide, while Sunny wants Sebastian. Carter seizes the moment.

This is an intense romantic story with an air of mystery. Sunny is blind to Sebastian’s intentions, and Carter has to keep his mind on his ultimate idea of protecting his family. Sunny isn’t as much of an environmentalist as Sebastian, but she shows more of a humanitarian side and a pure heart. The unpredictable emotional turmoil builds in intensity, and the danger edges further in, causing Carter’s family to be directly affected. This is a definite 5-star story that is perfect for readers who enjoy light-hearted books featuring a guileless librarian and straight- edge brewmaster.
