A warbler bird has a nest with her eggs in it, but there is also a bigger egg that a cuckoo bird laid there as well. Ms. Warbler doesn’t mind taking care of another egg and bird, but what she doesn’t know is that the cuckoo hatchling is being mean and frightening her last egg that hasn’t hatched. Through this cute tale you get to see how the bird overcomes his fear after being bullied. The beautiful watercolor illustrations go along with the story nicely and help engage the reader. This author is a definite go to for me as she always tends to slip in a lesson or fun learning opportunity in her stories.

If you have dog-loving kids, then you definitely should get this book! It’s such a fun yet informative read with rhyming you won’t realize you’re gaining knowledge you need. It reminds me of some of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. The colorful illustrations are also amazing and detailed, which only helps the child learn what to do from seeing the pictures. In all truthfulness, this book brought up some things about dogs and safety that I hadn’t even thought of myself. I definitely recommend it!

This is the first time I’m picking up a book by this author, Heidi Stark. I gotta say even though i was slightly confused with the characters ( because i picked it up on this book not the first ones lol oops 😂 I would definitely follow her warning at the beginning of the synopsis. Where she said that you should read the previous books in the series to get to know Devon, Angel, the snakes and the Brixton guys better to understand this one) but it was still an extremely good read. Having gotten into reading mafia books lately, I found this super intriguing. This book does contain DARK CONTENT( such as graphic violence, sex scenes and references to abuse/assault) which can trigger some readers. The suspense in this book will have you on the edge of your seat. It also has some steamy scenes too 😉.I will be going back and read them now i gotta know how it started 🥰 I really recommend reading this book ( if you like dark romance book) Ps It is also reverse harem 🥰

This is a an adventurous book that will keep you constantly on the edge of your seat, once you get through the first few chapters. It was a slow start and I had a hard time connecting with Fenimore, aka, Simon Shaw. However, after the first few chapters, I really felt a connection with him. There is a lot going on within the book between Simon’s “coming of age”, budding romances, a mystery man, and murders, there is something to appeal for everyone in this book.
As the book progressed I found myself loving characters I hated and hating characters I loved. The character development was very strong. You really got to know many of the members in the gang and their background. For example, Ford had has a unique and volatile personality. Early on in the book, you learn his history and his characteristics make sense. I ultimately really enjoyed all the twists and turns and absolute surprises.

This grew into unexpected storytelling as we see the relationship and environment interchange with the character and his life. I love when you find a book where you can say “I’ve never read anything like that before!” The Catford Catastrophe Zone by Petra Jacob was such a unique breath of fresh air for me in the Science-Fiction genre. I absolutely loved Petra Jacob’s use of language, humor, and metaphor! Her inclusion of super heroes was also a different and refreshing choice! Her characters were well thought out and fun to get to know, especially the Twins. I found Frankie to be a very relatable character filled with depth and intrigue! I really want to know and discover more about this amazing world that Ms. Jacob created. I hope there is a continuation! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes dystopian futuristic novels. You will not be disappointed, and like me you will be begging for more!

Quick Affirmations for Children is such a wonderful book by Kim Ann! Not only are the affirmations easy enough for small children to understand, the illustrations are vivid and appealing for children and adults alike. The contrast between the affirmations and the other words helps bring focus to the important words. As a mother and preschool teacher, I love how positive and upbeat this book is. Not only can this book help teach confidence and self-love but kindness and empathy. It is also helpful in teaching the alphabet! The target audience for Quick Affirmations for Children is 3-6 year olds, but I believe that children and adults of all ages can benefit from this book!

Yes Yes Yes!! Wow…….I had to settle myself down…..the twists and turns, intensity, danger, murder, hot sizzle…this book gave it all to me. Sea of Demons is Book 5 in the Blood and Sand series and you should and I highly recommend reading this series from the beginning as you need to get the entire story from the start…you won’t be disappointed. This is a dark romance and please check out the triggers before diving in.

I have thoroughly enjoyed each book I’ve read by this author, and this one followed suit! I love psychological thrillers, so this was right up my alley. I’m really excited to see that it’s the beginning of a series as well because I definitely need more. It’s everyone’s dream to win the lottery, right? We dive into what nightmares could be waiting on the other side of this wonderful dream come true. This book was absolutely riveting, and I read through it in one sitting. I couldn’t read fast enough because I needed to know what happened! It was a rollercoaster of twists and turns, never knowing where we were going to end up. I highly recommend picking this thriller up and going on a crazy ride. I am (not so patiently) waiting for the next book in this series!

This book is absolutely amazing! I love that it teaches kids how to properly interact with dogs and keeping everyone as safe as possible. I have one kiddo that is quite shy about approaching animals, and the other is polar opposite, loudly announcing their presence and wanting to play. Both of them were able to sit and read this with me. It really started a conversation about what to do when a dog looks a certain way and how to be respectful of our furry friends. The illustrations are beautifully done with informative graphics. The rhyming in the book really captures the attention of young ones which I find very helpful. I highly recommend having this on hand for any little one in your life because they will come across a pup at some point!

The Man in Black is a historical, LGBT romance. Fenimore James is a young man who is bored in his life. He is a dreamer and believes he should be more, however, that more is running away from home to become an outlaw named Simon Shaw. Simon believed he was going to be able to rob his way through life living his best life. He joins a gang, but he comes to find out that joining this gang is no joke. This is a life that is a bloody one and there is a mystery person out there after the gang’s blood. Many of its members are being murdered. Simon has dreams at night where a “man in black” visits him. He doesn’t understand why this man is in his dreams but he thinks it is important. However, he is dealing with other “issues” as he starts to question his sexuality – at the beginning, he has always questioned this but was engaged to a woman. However, his feelings for men are too strong and he ends up trying on this experience with another gang member. He and his new “friend” start to try to help the gang figure out who could be hurting them, and the leader gets scared and starts to think it could be someone they are all close to. This is a thriller and has a good plot, but will Simon find the life he has always dreamed for himself, is the killer someone close to them, and will he figure out where he belongs amongst all of this? This was an interesting story. It has been a while since I read a historical setting piece, but the fact that it was a thriller made is worth the read. It was a little slow to start, but if you can get through the beginning it will be a good read. There are many exciting parts, the aspect of taking on a puzzle, outlaws, and it was nice seeing a man trying to figure out who he was. If you are looking for a different take on an LGBT story and love thrillers, this is the story for you.

This was an enjoyable wild west thriller which I enjoyed. I’ve not read a book based in the Wild West for a long time, so I was pleasantly surprised when reading this by just how much I was enjoying it. The plot was intriguing and unique, and the book was written well – the descriptive language used painted vivid pictures of both the scenes and characters. Fenimore/Simon was an interesting character. Leaving a small ton life for the ‘glory’ of life as an outlaw was an interesting plot point. Then the mystery thriller elements, the character truly develops as he navigates sexuality and life within the gang. I love seeing character development so this was a great thing to see. I liked that this wasn’t the typical western story, there was a lot more to it. The length of the book didn’t put me off, I adore long books, but feel like this may put some readers off. Give it a chance, you may surprise yourself.

Madria is a sassy, defiant young woman who absolutely hates vampires. Years ago her mothers ancestors were murdered by Vampires so she grew up hating them all. When shifters cause havoc in her fathers club and Master Sardinia comes to the rescue, instead of being relieved, she blames him for the shifters being there in the first place. She shows him disrespect and he is not going to let her get away with that.
After bringing Madria down into the basement to talk to her about her attitude, shifters brutally attack Madria. After discovering that they may need her psychic powers to help them track down the rogue vampires, Sardinia has no choice but to change her to the one kind of creature she hates. Madria realizes that if she doesn’t help these vampires, even more evil vampires will kill more humans so she reluctantly agrees to help. As much as she wants to hate Sardinia for who he is and what he made her become, she can’t help but feel intense attraction to the blood sucker.
Sardinia knows he shouldn’t cross any lines with Madria, her being under his care and all. It’s just she is so innocent and pure, yet also full of fire. She isn’t afraid of him and that makes him want to punish her…
I love The Masters of the Consulate series. I have read a few of them so far and every time, Sylvia Black is able to have me hooked from page one. Each book is a stand alone love story with a different vampire master but it also has an underlying plot tying all the characters together. The author has a magical way of bringing two unlikely personalities together to create a perfect couple.

Sparky is an eleven-year-old girl living in Los Angeles, more specifically, the Bunker Hill area during the 1930’s depression, but she is not one of the well to do who live just down the road, no, she has had hardships, lost a family, a home and at one point, her reputation. However, she is now back, still up to her old tricks, but she has people who care about her and somewhere to live again which is not a cellar or basement in an abandoned house, but somewhere with a comfortable bed in a room which is all her own and even now, she cannot believe her luck.
One thing about Sparky is that her name is not just representative of her flaming red hair and wild nature, it is her quick wit and shenanigans as well, she is still working off her debts, albeit not everyone knows about it. That is until she ends up in the middle of an unbelievable event which leads her to watching over a pet and finding out an incredible news story, a story about cannibals in Los Angeles! This news interests Sparky and she cannot help but try and figure out who the cannibal is, but the more she finds out, the more her list of suspects grows, not to mention the ongoing capers within her secret double life.
This does mean that she has to keep secrets from her friends, Tootsie, her unofficial guardian and the boy who swears he will marry her one day, Bobby and this does make her feel lonely. Tootsie however, is determined to tame her wildness and that involves school (again) but Sparky is reluctant, especially with a cannibal on the loose and a mysterious pet shop which everyone warns her away from, but are these places and people connected, or is this caper one all on its own and will this caper be too much for Sparky to handle? This is a sassy, historical mystery where danger lies on every street corner and ne’er-do-wells hang around everywhere while this one-of-a-kind amateur sleuth tries to solve this cannibal caper while keeping her double life undercover all at the same time.

Joy’s Christmas Escape by P. Creeden is the 1st book in The Marshal’s Mail Order Bride Book series. Joy Stewart is a schoolteacher who has just lost the grandmother who raised her. She finds herself homeless and being harassed by her grandmother’s horrible debtors. She soon escapes to Virginia City to be a mail-order bride to Marshal Jack Bolling, a sweet, kind lawman. I really enjoyed Joy and Jack separately and together. Joy was such a warm but strong young lady. It was very easy to root for her. Jack was no-nonsense but kind and loving. They were perfect for each other. The story has a clean sweet romance. I really would have loved Jack and Joy. The side characters were also lovely. The way the town took care of each other was inspirational. This is a great story with a nice plot. I look forward to the other books in the series.

History and mystery. This is the second book in the Toronto Time Agents series but is the first book I have read by this author. I had no trouble keeping track with the story as each book seems to be a standalone plot. It was a very interesting read for a rainy day before my boys got out of school for thanksgiving break. Wilda Firestone has decades of experience being a Temporal Agent but her time on the force is done she is ready to retire and just enjoy her passion for making period appropriate clothing for travelers. Only Pembley, her boss, has decided that he will give her what she wants to meet an ancestor from the 1800s if she begins training new agents. While the agreement is suspicious, she agrees, Sir Algernon was once a policeman but now wants to be a Temporal Agent and is Wilda’s trainee, before they can go on their mission an explosion happens in the Agency for Time Tourism next door to her workshop/store. Her curiosity spikes when along with her anger over her life’s work being destroyed in the attack. With the only time machine in Canada reduced to ashes they must find another way to complete their mission. Only things change and the mission along with it. They are no longer on a strictly training mission they are on the hunt for terrorists that have taken everything away from her. What they find is not what they expected as they search for the answers to repair the time stream. Why was the time machine targeted? Will Wilda make it in time to stop the terrorists? What has happened and how deep does it go? The world C.N. Jackson has melded together is one of intrigue, mystery, and suspense as you’re sucked back in time with Wilda on the hunt for the answers. I couldn’t help myself from getting wrapped up in the questions, rushing from page to page in search of the answers with her. This book shows history without blinders, no false illusions of how the times were and what was or wasn’t acceptable its truth which builds the world more with each turning page. Wilda is a force to be reckoned with and she will find her answers no matter when and where. I can’t wait for book three, Unraveling Brigid’s Veil October 24th, 2024, to see what Wilda faces next.

This book is part of the WaterFyre Rising series and is probably my favourite so far. I loved the chemistry between the main characters. It was instant and so strong, it really carried on through the whole of the book. I was captivated by their connection and was desperate for them to find a way to surmount all of the obstacles they faced. The book is so well written and I loved the storyline. It was a gripping read and I could not put this book down. This author has become one of my favourites with such ease. I don’t bother to read the description of her books anyone, I just pick them up and start reading. This is a fantastic book that I would highly recommend.

Such a cute, quick read and what can be better than the holidays at the beach! Lizzie ends up traveling with her heartbroken best friend to Australia for the holidays. After being let go of her job, she decides to take a break from it all in a new environment for the holidays. After arriving and taking a clumsy tumble, she ends up meeting Jaz, a single dad living in Australia. They start connecting and hitting it off. Lizzie at first is hesitant about getting involved but then switches her mindset to just enjoying this short term romantic holiday fling. Williams has definitely created such a great enjoyable story and also added a text prior to starting the book on the type of English being used in the book. Wish more authors would do this if it is needed for their story.

This is such a fun holiday read, though it almost feels like summer as our heroine is in Australia and has surf and sand weather for Christmas. Do you think fate can hit you in the head like a ball? Well, this is what Lizzie has to figure out after she meets hunky father Jaz, whose son just happens to clock her in the head with a ball as she was trying to enjoy the Australian beach. She had told her friend Shona that holiday romances are nice but never last, so should she have a little fun while she can or should she cut her losses and run, considering she lives thousands of miles away from Jaz and his two children. Their story is sweet with some drama thrown in and a little bit of spice. Basically, this book has everything you need, making it a great read. I can’t tell you how relatable and friendly all the characters are, even the secondary characters have such a wonderful feel to them that I want to be their friend. If you like fun, fast, sweet summer-ish style holiday romances, you should definitely check this one out.

Lottery of Secrets is a psychological thriller full of action, suspense, angst, danger, mystery, intrigue, drama, and secrets. The story centers around the character of Lynn who has just won the lottery and is dreaming of how she will start a new life with her winnings. She is currently living in a rundown house with her abusive husband and wants to leave but has been unsure how. When Lynn discovers she has won the lottery she grapples with the decision of whether she should tell her husband or if she should just start a new life somewhere else. Winning the lottery does not change her life the way in which Lynn had hoped and dreamed that it would. Instead, she finds her life spiraling out of control as she receives anonymous notes, and her past comes back to haunt her. This book takes some twists and turns that kept me reading to see what happened next. Lynn is a character that is easily likable and relatable. Suffering from an illness and living with an abusive husband left me hoping she would be able to get the happily ever after she deserved. The book ends with a cliffhanger, and I anxiously await the next book in this series.

This was an entertaining holiday read. I have read several books by this author and I have always found them enjoyable. Part of the reason I love them is because the characters are so believable we all know someone who is like the character being portrayed in the story. This is a short read but it doesn’t feel like it’s unfinished in anyway. I was just a little disappointed that I flew through it so quick but that is because of the brilliant writing of the author and the fact I was so invested in this story. Lizzie is having a tough time, she has just been made redundant and with Christmas coming up the last thing she wants to do is spend it with her family. So when an opportunity arises to help her friend by buying her flight to Australia off her Lizzie jumps at the chance. After all its just what she needs a break far away from family and in the sun. What she does expect or plan on is meeting someone. Jaz is a single father who has his work cut out looking after his kids that romance never enters his mind. That is until his son accidently hits a woman on the beach. Now their paths keep crossing and he finds he likes spending time with her, he even invites her to have Christmas lunch with him. He knows she’s on holiday and will be leaving soon but wheres the harm is a little holiday fling. Because in Lizzie’s mind that’s all this could ever be right? There’s no way it could progress into something more meaningful is there? Will common sense win or will the magic of Christmas sprinkle just enough magic to grant them a Christmas wish? I loved it and even though its set in a sunny place the magic of Christmas still came through. This is definately a book to read curled up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate.

Porter and Midge: Paws for Safety is a children’s book designed for children between the ages of three to twelve years of age. The book follows the adventures of Midge and Porter and their owners, CJ and Lora. Through their interactions children are taught important lessons about how to interact safely with dogs. The text is easy to understand, and the illustrations are bright and beautiful bringing the story and messages to life. Valuable lessons are taught regarding how to safely play with dogs, about being a responsible pet owner, and how to treat dogs with love and respect. This book is a must read for anyone who is considering getting a puppy or even has a dog already. Great for all ages!

This is a reverse harem, mafia/gang, dark romance, suspense book. It’s action packed (in more ways that one ;)) and will have you on the edge of your seat. This story has so many open doors for thought. Dylan and his sister Emily grow closer, once they learn to work together. Dylan wants nothing more then to be a detective, he saved his allowance to pay for the kit. He has even watched every episode of Youth Sleuths. Being the older brother he is the detective while Emily gets to help out. This story is well written and easy for the little ones to follow. I love that the author answered the readers’ questions at the end. She also added a new word to each chapter. The vocabulary words with definitions at the end of the book added that little extra learning. This is a great start to this series. I look forward to read what comes next for Dylan and Emily.

This is a great, quick read that (hopefully) is that start to something more! I really loved the connection we see between Oden and his daughter, Penny, and how he would do anything for her (as a father should) but that she had her own power and strength and he didn’t diminish that. It did take me a little bit to get into the story but once I did, I flew through the book. This is a fantasy read with LGBTQI+ characters, magic, and so much more! I highly recommend this short novella to anyone looking for a quick read that will immerse you into a world of dark fantasy!
A different read than I normally choose, however, really enjoyed this dystopian Sci fi novel. Writer paints quite the picture and builds characters and story well. I was enthralled and couldn’t put it down. Another great read poolside in mexico. Will definitely be looking for more from the author!

The Christmas Escape by Belinda Williams. This is such a fun Christmas love story. Its the story of Lizzie who has just lost her job and her apartment. This is right at Christmas too so when her best friends loser boyfriend doesn’t come thru on a vacation ticket Lizzie thinks “why not” so she goes with her girlfriend to Australia. While there she thinks she should have a fling with a hot guy, that might make her feel better. When she meets Jaz/Jasper who is enjoying the beach with his kids she thinks he is good looking. He would make a good fling. Jaz feels bad for her spending Christmas alone so he invites her over and the chemistry takes over. They both know this can’t be a long term relationship because she has to go home but when they both catch feelings what will they do? Read this fun Christmas time romance to find out! Such a fun romp!
