Rise of the Y (The Y Chronicles Book 1) by Angela D. Shelton – Review by Rebecca Hill

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book is a post-apocalyptic story set in the future. Lexi Verity is coming of age and set to find out who the Imperium says she should marry and what profession she will work in. However, Lexi doesn’t want to be told what to do. She doesn’t want to just blindly do what is expected of her. She wants to be able to fall in love with the man she marries. She can’t control much in her life, but she can throw the test for her job. She doesn’t expect that to even be noticed much less to set her on a path toward the rebellion. Lext inadvertently meets up with the rebellion and bucks the entire system. I absolutely loved this book. I loved that it was clean yet kept my complete attention. In fact, I had trouble even putting the book down and finished it in one afternoon. While this is technically a young adult book, I think it can and will be enjoyed by anyone. It was fantastic, and I can’t wait for more!
