Elusive Surrender (Sinful Duets #3)Elusive Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The bodyguards of the wealthiest and deadliest families around are back again, finding the loves of their lives in places they never expected. I love the prose, the dominance, the chemistry, the worldbuilding in this series, and I enjoy quick reads that can make you feel like you’re not missing anything in the story.

Alexis innocently and accidentally drops her card when going for coffee. As she stoops down to pick it up, she finds a man has already done so…and he refuses to give it back to her. She keeps trying to get it back so that he doesn’t discover personal details, but he is resistant. He is pushy, domineering, and she is getting creeped out. In steps Sheldon to save the day, as he often does as a dominant man. He planned on that being the end of their interaction, but can’t seem to find himself ridding his mind of her in a lot of different ways. They work together and learn more about the creep in the cafe, Sheldon realizes he wants to protect Alexis and her family and friends forever. Will he be able to protect them all without his constant thoughts of her interrupting and causing mistakes?

Nick and Allie

Allie is family to Alexis and gets brought into the fray as Sheldon and Alexis discover and track the trafficking ring that was introduced in the last addition. Allie is a spitfire and has no idea just how dangerous the ring and it’s people can be, so she keeps trying to dodge the bodyguards and go about her life. When Nick appears to tell her he will be sticking around to keep her safe, she’s unsure if she should trust herself around him…he’s too hot, too intense, too everything. Can she resist? Nick decided to jump in when Allie proved to be too much for his fellow alpha male bodyguards. He tries to get her to understand just how dangerous this trafficking ring is and the terrible things that can happen, but he’d be lying if he claimed she hadn’t stoked a fire in him he can’t ignore. When they decide to enjoy each other’s company in the midst of tracking the trafficking ring, will either of them ever be able to go back to before? Do they even want to?
