Basil is a spicy, fun, and funny read. Basil is a vegan that has been turned into a vampire. She refuses to drink human blood. With her Biomedical Engineering skills, she develops a synthetic blood mixture that she takes with healthy smoothies. That is just the start of Basil’s new life, she buys a new place to live and run her new smoothie shop in the town of Silver Springs. She happens to have not one but three soul mates! Things get spicy from there on out. I loved the new take on Basil’s supernatural dilemma and the creativity. Basil is a fun and easy read that makes you feel good as she achieves in her newfound “life”. Basil is a standalone book; I have not read the other books in the Silver Springs series and thus it did not affect the story at all for me.
