Managing Mischief (Shattered Embrace Series) by Alyndra Quinn – Review by Jessica Stone
I completely and utterly DEVOURED this book, I mean literally read it in about 6 hours, I couldn’t put it down. I really liked the first book in this series, but personally all of the action, the nitty gritty, passion induced, craziness happens in this book. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement, I loved this book. Please make sure to read the first book in this series as this is a continuation of Zac and Ashton’s story.
First off the characters are ridiculously relatable, Zac, is just trying to navigate these new feelings he has for Ashton, without hurting her or placing her in harms way but by taking it slow and not communicating this, he’s actually hurting her more. Ashton is constantly second guessing herself and Zac, from past rejection and bad experiences shes terrified of rejection and having to hide who she is again. It all plays out beautifully, the build up, the explosion, the aftermath, was all masterfully done.
I have high praise for this author, I think the writing is terrific, I think the characters are fun, and easily relatable, and she builds the story without over complicated and unnecessary “side quests” as I like to call them and she doesn’t drift off and start a million different could be story’s for other characters. But in the same sense, there’s just enough there to be played off of and the makings of some more terrific books. 10 out of 10 I would definitely recommend this book.

This was such a sad tale that had so many unexpected events that I just couldn’t put the book down for the couple of days that I read it. It was so heart-wren3/2024ching to follow along as our main character, Rose deals with the illness of her mother and steps into the role of caregiver right after being involved in a tragic accident while on the job. Secrets of her father’s past are unburied by Rose who is not one to leave a good mystery unsolved, but will it result in more pain and suffering for her dying mom, or will it be the death of her? This is a story filled with mystery and sadness but is a great suspenseful read as you follow along a couple of different storylines all playing out at the same time. Rose is a great photojournalist, and despite her inability to use her right arm, she continues to follow along with a couple of different mysteries that she finds herself in the middle of, despite the warnings to let sleeping dogs lie. This was a good book, I really enjoyed myself, and the characters were very dynamic in their personalities. @Brandy Rymer 03/2024

C.R. Alam is one of my all-time favorite romance writers I have ever come across, her books are so entertaining and will have you excited to pick up the next book as soon as you can. She is a master at her trade with words, and drawing a picture you can see in your mind as you follow along with each new character’s tale of romance.
Echoing Hearts: This book was absolutely one of the best romance novels I have ever read! The development of the characters was amazing, I felt like I was watching a movie as the storyline played out, it was so real. Right from the beginning when we step into the life of Dean Rowland, an extravagantly rich gentleman about to say “I do” to the mysterious Leighton, I feel that he had to be our main character. Then the transition into the life of Rae Allen, the wandering free spirit of a woman, hanging out with her rock band friends and reading an article about Dean Rowland’s runaway bride. I knew right there that at some point this would be our leading lady, but boy I had no clue what kind of a rollercoaster ride we would be on with these two. I could not put his book down from the second that I picked it up, I’m a romantic and I wanted to see Dean and Ray find their happier ever after, whether it be with them, or with Leighton and Brandon, the illustrious rock star who believed everyone deserved their soul mates.
His Forever Muse: C. R. Alam’s book His Forever Muse, The Echo Series Book #2 continues the story of Brandon and unfolds the mystery behind the one that stole his heart, which was hinted at in Book #1. I love that this book opens with Rae and Dean having their first child Maya and the fact that Brandon got to be there with Rae when she needed him most. Watching their happiness, Brandon is reminded that something is missing in his life, and this leads him to travel around the world searching for what he is missing. What a coincidence that he runs into Callie (Curtis’s big sister, whom Brandon hasn’t seen in 15 years) while he is visiting Chris at his resort in Morrocco. Will Brandon be able to reconnect with his long-lost love, or will her haunted past pull her away from her past love? What is she hiding from Brandon, and her family, that caused her to go quiet for all these years? If you are a fan of The Echo Series, this is a must-read that jumps right in with the drama, the romance, and the amazingly developed characters that we have grown to know and love as well as some new ones that we get to meet.
Unexpected Entanglement: C. R. Alam has done it once again! True to her nature she has written another steamy, romance novel that follows in The Echo Series. Not only was I excitedly awaiting this newest tale in the series to come out I was so ecstatic to find out it was finally going to find a love interest for the fun-loving Chris Sullens, hotel mogul extraordinaire. I have loved his character since he was introduced in the first Echo Series book when he helped to bring our original love birds together. You will love the fire that burns between Chris Sullens and Rowan Kelly as they fight their obvious attraction to one another and try not to make a bigger mess out of Rowan’s crumbling inn. Of course, when Rowan has Christ step in to play the role of her loving fiancé will the fireworks go off, or will the two kill each other first? Read on to see what ensues…
Dangerous Rhythm: This story was absolutely amazing, I loved the twist involving the mob in this book. It made it so exciting to read, plus what a great way to get to meet new characters. Meeting Curtis and Lina’s families and seeing their family traditions was a genius move to help bring these two characters together even more. I loved the descriptions of the different countries that this book takes place in, it was so beautiful to feel a part of the New Year celebration, and oh my all the food descriptions made my mouth water! The Echo Series has been one of my favorite series to read in 2023, I cannot wait to read the next series that C. R. Alam. She has an amazing talent for writing books that draw you into the storyline and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book to continue delving into the characters’ lives. You just get so invested in each of the characters’ stories, but the author continues to build upon the past character’s lives, allowing you to continue to learn about their continuing celebrations in their happily ever after. Managing Mischief is Book 2 in the Shattered Embrace series that continues the story of Zachary and Ashton. I recommend reading the first book as this second part installment picks up and you get to know more not of only Ashton and Zachary’s relationship but more of the club Shattered Embrace and what it all entails. This story is about D/s, power, dominance and also secrets and a bit of danger.
Zachary and Ashton continue to explore the BDSM lifestyle…Zachary reminding Ashton that she is only his alone. When an opportunity of a lifetime comes to Ashton, the stakes are very high…but it may also destroy what Zachary and Ashton have built together already. With miscommunication and secrets that drive a wedge between Zachary and Ashton….will Zachary’s past come back to haunt him and place Ashton in harms way….or will they get the HEA they deserve…
I am looking forward to seeing what this author has in store next in this series…and getting to know Derek’s story!
This is a collection of hot and quick reads. They contain many different genres and plots. Each of the stories is a short read and you can pick any story when you like and get some spice when you want it. If you are new to this author, it is a nice way to try out their writing style to see if it is to your taste. As with most collections there were some stories that stood out more for me than the others. There is not much in character development as these stories are big on the titillation and some lean towards the taboo. While I enjoy these kinds of stories, I do wish that some were expanded and had more character development to them.

This is a very informational and helpful book for a family that is looking to add a furbaby. In this story, Lora and CJ have decided they’d like to each have a dog. Their parents have wisely advised the children that they need to research everything possible about pet care to demonstrate the knowledge necessary to be a great pet parent. CJ and Lora learn all about proper vet care, exercise, food, and more and present their findings to their parents who agree to allow them to have a new pet.
Any family with small children looking to add a new furbaby should be required to read this book! It’s a great tool for youngsters to create a goal list from and to demonstrate their learned knowledge before the family commits to such a huge undertaking of adding to their family.

From the beginning I was hooked. I was right there with Rose, my arm hurt, my heart was conflicted with wanting to spend time with her Mom and wanting to find out more about her Dad, my mind was reeling about what could be the logical next step. I was 100% invested in this story. I felt for Carly as she is coming to the end of her life, for Tess as she is watching her sister get weaker and knowing what that will mean. I felt for Rose as she is wanting to communicate with her brother and have him there, yet understanding that he has his own reasons to not want to come back to their hometown. Honestly, this easily made it onto my favorite books of 2024. Jacqueline Boulden definitely got me interested from the beginning and kept my interest the whole way through. I definitely want to read other books written by her.

Cy Sweet is the youngest of the Sweet sons. His older brothers have been pitching in and helping out at the theme park but, Cy has been busy doing his thing. Now, his parents ask him ( more like threaten him ) to pose as a worker at the park to find out who is behind the strike they are hearing about. Cy gets a job at the bakery and spots Jolie on his first day and is immediately attracted to her. They both seem to be into eachother but, Cy also trying to do this important task for his family.
Jolie is a single mom of 2 boys and one of them is very sick. She works 2 jobs to try to support her family and care for her son. Her pay is horrible and the benefits are even worse. A couple of people band together to shed light to the world about the owners of this family friendly theme park and show the world, they aren’t all that family friendly at all.
Will Cy be able to stop the whispers and secret meetings or will he end up Choosing the wrong side and help his friends and the girl he is falling for? This was a great read from beginning to end with lots of steam. Definitely a 5 star read!
Shadowed Deception is the third book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. In this story, Finlay Giammarino is an investigative journalist tracking a human trafficking ring hoping to find a lead on her sister. When she comes to a dead end she turns to former Navy Seal Drake Reeves. Drake doesn’t like journalists but Finlay is desperate. By now the trademark adventure and intensity should be expected. Again, the chemistry is fun and palpable. This is a stand-alone book but you do get past characters that pop up and they are fun to see. Another page-turner.

In this book, we have an enemies-to-lovers story between Regan Christenson and Pavlo Barislov. These two are attracted to each other but cannot stand each other but when Regan and her daughter are threatened, Pavlo can’t turn away. This book is another fast-paced, on-the-edge-of-your-seat type story. The chemistry between Pavlo and Regan is amazing. The author packs this book with adventure. This was another thrilling ride.

Shadowed Obsession by Mavery Ellscott is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security Series. Kiera O’Ryan is a beautiful PR rep who has a stalker. Cade Hartford is her private military contractor neighbor who jumps at the chance to help catch Kiera’s stalker when the Montana police can’t. These two are attracted to each other but try to keep it business only because they cannot afford to be distracted by each other. The chemistry between Cade and Kiera was fun. I liked both of these characters. I love that they are comfortable together. This was a well-written and intense romance/suspense story. It is a fast-paced story with plenty of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book.

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed reading. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author in the future. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world with ease. They kept the story engaging and turning pages fast to see what happened next. This is a well written story where the past comes to the present. A past that was thought was left behind. On top of that three strangers have keys to unlock secrets. What happens next you don’t want to miss. The characters are connectable, relatable and add so much to the story. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout and the journey they took me on. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down. It is an entertaining, easy story to read. I highly recommend it.

Echoing Hearts is the first book in The Echo Series by C. R. Alam. Rae Allen is a woman who has vowed never to fall in love after watching her mother deteriorate after having her heart broken. Dean Rowland has sworn off women after being left at the altar by his fiancee. When the two inevitably meet, sparks fly. This was a very well-written story. The characters are real and relatable. The chemistry between Rae and Dean is amazing. I enjoyed watching them build and navigate their relationship. I highly recommend this book.
His Forever Muse is book two of The Echo Series by C. R. Alam. Brandon and Calliope have known each other since they were young and reconnected after many years. Calliope is trying to rebuild her life but her past keeps coming back to haunt her. I enjoyed the story of Brandon and Calliope. I loved Brandon as Rae’s best friend from Book 1. He and Calliope are awesome together. Their chemistry is nice and steamy. They are really enjoyable together. Once again the characters are relatable and well-written. The plot is well-paced and keeps you hooked. Another great book.
This is another sizzling romance story! Unexpected Entanglement is the third book in The Echo Series by C. R. Alam. Chris Sullens and Rowen Kelly are a really fun and steamy couple. Chris is a handsome and wealthy hotelier who finds himself entangled in a fake romance with sassy, beautiful Rowena who now runs the family inn. These two were so great together. I loved the witty banter and the passion between these two. Another plot that has you on the edge of your seat. Although I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, this one was my favorite!
Dangerous Rhythm by C. R. Alam is a romance with a reverse protector angle. Lina Cheung has to protect Curtis Bissett from someone who wants him dead. The only problem is that Curtis is someone that she cannot get past. They have a history and now she has to try to put that aside to keep him safe. I am an old-fashioned girl but I enjoyed this story’s reverse roles. I enjoyed how both characters are written. The plot is not new but refreshing in the way it is presented. This is an invigorating and entertaining read.

Well Welcome Jake, brother to the groom. Jake had been outside the family for a long time. Will his brothers accept him back into the family? If you have been following this series, you know this will be a challenge for all involved. But Jake is not about to give up nor will his family let him go. Then when romance fills the air this story takes on a whole new journey. I recommend you step back and get to know these amazing characters. By starting with book 1. This author has once again brought forth an amazing add on to this series. This is a great story to listen to. It is a fast paced and emotional story and I loved every minute! I am looking forward to seeing where this author takes us next.

This short read is full of all sorts of paranormal activities. From the beginning you meet Delilah a Demon who is unsatisfied in her endeavors or rather bored. She sets off on an adventure that leads her to small town USA for a much needed vacation. Things take a fast turn for this sassy demon. This is a dual POV and it definitely is a fun little read. There might be some TWs to some but nothing extreme, and doesn’t affect the books impact in any way. 4 stars.

Detective Dylan, his little sister, Emily, and their dog, Theodore, are back on the case! The three work as a team to solve the case of the missing plates. This is the 2nd detective Dylan book in the series, but honestly, I think it was a bigger hit than the first with the niece and nephew. They love these books. I love the fact that two kids who normally are not readers will sit down and read these books! Between the story and the illustrations, there is enough to keep the kids engaged and learning along the way. I would absolutely recommend this series.

This was my first read from Phoebe Alexander and I have to say, I was NOT disappointed. I went in with mid level expectations, as I don’t like to set them too high when I’m reading a new author, and I was blown away. Let me just say… Setting a sexy story in an amusement park was very unique, and I loved it. I enjoyed the story very much, and I love your characters, I cannot wait to read more. This paranormal has a bit of everything for you- witches, shifters, fae, and more. The main character Stevie, reborn from a tree, with no memories figures out she must move around because she is not aging. She cares for herself by thieving. She eventually meets 3 strangers who could hold the answers to her past. But is that a good thing, or will it get her killed a second time? This book was a quick, well written, pager turner read. Though it does end in a cliffhanger, it is still worth the read. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

As a woman who is obsessed with the forests and woods and who grew up exploring them, I absolutely loved this book! Ember Jasperwood is an amazingly pure and heartwarming character! Her passion for healing and how her family treats her hit me right in the feels! Did I also mention how much I love the names Catherine Banks picked for her characters? Triston, Riddick, Ember they are all absolutely divine! Outcast is a beautiful blend of magic, hybrids, healing, curses, cures, and a search for the truth. Every page I turned, went faster and faster as I raced towards the end of this book to find out what was going to happen! This book had me completely hooked and I cannot wait until Ms. Banks releases the second one in this entrancing series that is definitely one to look out for!

While the synopsis on the back is what had me saying, ” Why not, it could be interesting.” It was Stone’s writing that kept me reading. I really enjoyed this thought-provoking book. It had me looking at some things in a different light. I would highly recommend this book.

This is a great book that teaches responsibility and all that goes with it when it comes to wanting a new dog brought into the family. Though the reading ages is 4-9 years, this is a great book even for older kids and adults to understand all the responsibility that goes with being a new dog owner. From vet visits, play time, grooming and even having a safe space in crate training, this is a really great book understand so many elements in being a dog owner.
CJ and Lora are excited as they feel they want to welcome a new dog in their family, but CJ and Lora’s parents know there is a lot of responsibility that goes with being a pet owner. Learning from other dog owners and reading up on all that you have to do to be a responsible dog owner. …CJ and Lora do lots of research to show they can do this.
Fun, fantastic book….great for all ages and I love the rhyming and the colorful illustrations really bring this story to life. Very highly recommended.

Cricket Adams is a mountain shifter in the Elkhorn Pride, her family owns a logging company and she has a son, but his father, her first mate, was tragically taken from her too early, so she threw herself into work and being a single mother, all while suffering from the loss of her mate. Boone Claw is a mountain shifter from the Long Claw Pride and as one of many siblings, he has been told of the mating call from a young age and he has also seen other family members being affected by it, so when it comes to him, he is more than ready to meet his future.
One day Cricket is working as usual when all of a sudden, the mating call hits her, but she is confused and terrified because she has already had a mate and cannot believe that it would come for her for a second time and nobody in her pride have ever heard of it happening either. Boone pretty much drops his life as a logger with the forestry service near his Long Claw Pride lands, to go find his mate, however, when he meets her, he is in shock at her reaction, especially finding out that she is in the same profession as his family, but the surprises don’t end there.
As Boone and Cricket slowly get to know one another, her reservations and emotions are all over the place and she is amazed at how patient Boone is being, but she is also surprised at his reaction to when a certain Mr Grace appears, he is a human who is becoming a definite thorn in her side, but is he ever going to take no as an answer to his questions and what will become of this second mating chance, will it end in rejection, or romance? This is another spicy romance where emotions run high and challenges are made as two shifters come together to find their future amid uncertainty and confusion.

I swear Naomi can do no wrong! I absolutely loved this story. Delilah is a Demon with morals. Malakhi is mysterious. There is attraction between the two. There are a few twists in this story and a few things that caught me off guard. Definitely a great read for those into the supernatural. What I like most about all of Naomi’s stories is that everyone gets represented.

Tim Holland had a decorated career taking care of others. His transition to working for Chase Care was far from different. While serving a medical assignment, he met the love of his life, Willow Colson was a dedicated traveling nurse. Their lives both led them back to D.C. but their budding romance hit one snag after another. This books was captivating to see how the characters’ lives developed and changed in a short amount of time and also kept you rooting for the main characters that things wouldn’t fall apart.

5 Stars The Glow in Loretta’s Garden (Loretta’s Insects) by Lois Wickstrom
The Glow in Loretta’s Garden ( Loretta’s Insects) is a fun children’s book that children ages 4-8 can enjoy. My son loved this book so much we’ve read it several times already. The illustrations are colorful and bring the story to life. Loretta is in her garden is digging in the dirt when she notices and something glowing. Loretta puts the glowing larvae in a box and continues watch it for several days. Fireflies are my favorite and my son loves to try and catch them. We truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading it to find what happens next. We look forward to reading more from this Author

Sadé believes him innocent but Danny can’t be sure due to the loss of memory from the hit his father dealt him. The journey started when he was alive but the true journey started in his afterlife. His mother is his guide through all the lives he lived and together they get a fuller and broader view of everything. I have listened to stories of people that have experienced past lives or seeing the other side after a NDE and it is fascinating to hear what they describe. I’m glad I went outside of my norm to pick up this book.
