This was a really enjoyable romance with plenty of chemistry, drama with an ex and a undeniable connection between our main characters. I was hooked from the beginning. We meet Liam and Emma. Emma has had problems in the past with men so the way she overcomes that is only having one night stands. Never wanting or expecting more. Until she meets Liam. Liam is the same not wanting more from a woman but there is something about Emma that keeps him coming back. As they navigate through the change from one night stands to friends with benefits could there be a possibility for this to become something more meaningful? And when Liam gives Emma an offer she can’t refuse will this bring them closer or push them apart? Add to this drama caused by Emma’s ex and this is a story that will keep you turning pages. Can friends with benefits progress to something more? Or are they both destined to end up heartbroken all over again?

Detective Dylan and The Hunt for Home Plate was a super adorable children’s chapter book. It’s the second book in The Young Sleuths children’s book series. It would be perfect for children who know how to read but are beginners at reading chapter books. There are only ten short chapters. Dylan, his sister Emily, and their pup Theodore arrive at the baseball field to find that home plate and the rest of the bases are missing. They luckily have Dylan’s detective kit to help solve the mystery. I think children would find themselves caught up and immersed in the book with MJ Murray’s engaging writing until reaching the satisfying ending.

The story is created by a young girl and how she believes the Queen of Fairies would handle a variety of situations. Using her creativity she creates an engaging story that young children will enjoy. The book is full of vibrant illustrations. Enjoyable and I think it captures a child’s creativity.

Scotland: Stunning, Strange, and Secret: A Guide to Hidden Scotland is Book Two in The Hidden Gems Series. It is your definitive guide to all that Scotland has to offer written by a well traveled author. The author has expertly used her love of travel to discuss in-depth the hidden gems that Scotland offers for exploration that go beyond the usual tourist destinations. She describes both popular and little-known places as well as their history. I know at the top of my list of places to not miss out on would be the numerous haunted castles. The author discusses the history of Scotland, its myths, gods, beliefs, and superstitions which offer invaluable insight into its rich and varied culture. One of the myths that intrigued me was Bean-Nighe, AKA the “washer woman” in Scottish Gaelic who is seen as the omen of death. It is said that she can be seen near streams and pools washing the clothes of those that are doomed to death, turning the river red with their blood. Another one that I found interesting was about Brahan Seer, whose name was Coinneach Odhar, who was thought to be a prophet or seer with second sight. It was said that his visions were thought to come true. The author briefly discusses the origins of music beyond the well-known bagpipes that also started in Scotland. Artists and bands that originated from Scotland such as Annie Lennox, The Bay City Rollers, Sheena Easton, Simple Minds, and many members of the band AC/DC were born in Scotland. The author discusses how to plan your trip, the best time to go, travel expenses, extra costs that may be associated with the trip, travel insurance, passports and visas, travelers’ checks, places to visit, accommodations, transportation, and food. The book contains stunning photographs throughout that were taken by the author during her various trips to Scotland and she gives advice on how to get the best photos during your visit. She gives advice on camera and equipment, as well as things to consider such as scale, weather, perspective, lines, the rule of thirds, and lighting. I could go on and on about all the information this book contains because it truly covers ever aspect one could possibly think of from start to finish and is the only guide one would need when planning a trip to Scotland. I will be going back and reading the author’s book on England next because many of my ancestors originate from there.

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. After her ex-boyfriend’s behaviour leaves her not wanting another relationship, and being untrusting of men Emma sticks to one-night stands. Then she has a passionate night with the confident, handsome Liam with his seductive smile, and soon it’s another night followed by another night of him satisfying her needs, and before she knows it they are friends with benefits. As Liam manages to break through Emma’s walls she starts to fall hard and even starts dreaming of a HEA. However, Liam has his own commitment issues and does not want a relationship. That doesn’t stop Emma saying yes when Liam makes her an offer she can’t refuse, but then when her ex turns up unexpectedly she feels her life is spiralling out of control. Neither Emma or Liam planned on falling in love but now they are worried they are going to end up with a broken heart, if they are not honest with one another. I love Emma and Liam as they are both likeable and relatable characters who’s chemistry sizzles off the page. I like how their relationship develops throughout the book. I was hooked by the storyline and I felt invested in the main characters, whilst the romance and steamy scenes kept me reading late into the night.

I really liked this one! It’s a fantasy meets modern day world. Millicent isn’t aware all her friends around her are supernatural beings but when she finds out she’s shocked. Not only that she has a magical stalker. As her friends rally around her and they investigate who her stalker is Millicent tries to keep up with all the new information thrown her way and carry on with her life but it’s difficult especially when she’s falling in love. Can they find the stalker and can Millicent get the girl in the end? I really enjoyed this, loved all the characters and really liked that it kept you guessing about who the stalker was. Highly recommend!
This book was ok for me. There was a lot going on and I felt a lot was introduced. I understand that in the first installment of a series there is a set up but I felt that some of it got lost in the plot. I enjoyed the characters and hope that the next book has a smoother flow for me. There were some interesting perspectives and ideas.

That was actually really interesting! I’ve never read a book like this, but I’ve always wanted to travel. It was fun to read a book that contained some of England’s history, most traveled spots, and places people don’t travel there that are beautiful and must-see. The author tied it in with stories, and it made the book more than just a travel guide.

This book was an interesting story on falling in love. Chloe is the main character and it follows her from college into working adulthood and all the romances that she has in between. The story is told in different parts through Chloe’s point of view as she dates and falls in love. Each man and relationship is different but each one leads her to where she is in life and her career. Some of the stories overlap and then you may rewind and have to reread a part in a different way. Chloe is relatable and inspiring and so are each of the men that she dates. This story is completely her journey, she knows what she wants in life, and she gets to make all the decisions hoping to get her happy ending.
I really wanted to like this one but it just is too much of a struggle. It starts out great as we meet the characters and find out the situation but as the story moves along it got so slow. There is way too much “thinking in their head” and it became confusing at times and interrupted conversations between the two MC. The conversations are very stilted and a lot of times I am not sure what the purpose is and where it is going. Even at the end I just did not understand what Ryan’s issue was with not speaking to Meg. I did not really *feel* the connection between the two even though I assumed they would end up together.

I love to undercover boss concept and it did not disappoint! Cy is sweet and his character growth from perceived villain to someone we can all fall in love with is great! As the undercover boss he gets to see where the employee are coming from and I’m sure his infatuation and frequent visits with Jolie helped.
This book was full of tension between the characters and the spice is well worth the build up! Now I’m off to read the next book in the Spicetopia series!

G Pa Rhymes did it again! Another fabulous book about Cray and his friends. My kids (6 & 8) really enjoyed this one. My favorite part is the last page, the discussion page where it gives us the opportunity to talk about why turtles migrate as well as list some ways to be kind. I highly recommend this book.

I loved the way the story was laid out with the illustrations and speech bubble style. It is a great story for children to learn about speaking your truth and opening up to others. It is perfect for primary age children to learn these important values.

I loved this book! I’ve read books from this author prior to this book and I’m going to say this one is my favorite. Why you might ask? Because the way the author wrote Before You Say I Do gave me the feels. And when books can give me the feels and make me feel like I’m part of the story it says a lot. Now the characters aren’t easy to love because they are stubborn, independent, nonbelievers in love. Yet at the same time jealous, attentive, possessive and protective. Which leaves the reader in a conundrum. But trust me when I say it all works. I feel like I was friends with the lead female character. Emma and Liam are people who don’t want relationships or commitments. However they crave each other physically. This story revolves around the ups and downs that their “friends with benefits” status takes them. Liam wants his trust fund, but he can’t access it until he’s 35 or married whichever comes first. Being he’s started this friendship with Emma he feels she’s the perfect candidate to help him in his task. Two big problems: 1 will his family believe them? 2 They are both falling for the other and are too stubborn to admit it. Sacrificing their potential happiness together by sticking to the script. Of course we know nothing is cut in dry and these stories and the exes don’t make it easy either. Will they stick to the script? How will the exes interference impact what they have? Again it’s a story I loved, that had a lot to offer for fans of this genre. It’s worth it! Happy Reading!

This touching children’s book is a great read. It’s a great book for beginner readers. The journey in this book follows three young children Loris, Cam, and Inaya as they train for a race to raise money for a fellow student. Loris is a new foster child in the house so he tries to keep to himself but when Cam needs help at the race Loris is there to save the race! It is a great story of courage, hope, selflessness, and resilience.

This book really amazed me. I chose this book because we recently got our daughter a cat. This book was about pet ownership, so I thought she could learn from it. This is the second book to this series. It is a chapter book to get young reader engaged. The author grabs your attention from the beginning to the end. The characters and world building was great. I know this is a kids chapter book, but I really enjoyed it myself.

I was excited to find the second book in this series. The first book was a fun read and I knew the second book would have the same kind of fun, romantic, and exciting moments. We met Holly in the first book where she ends up finding love and acceptance in Emerald Hollow a small town in Oregon. This new book is about Sofia, a well known member of the town. Sofia has had her share of romance gone wrong as so many of us experience. Sofia can’t believe what she’s seeing when she finds a man laying in the middle of a snow covered hiking trail! The strangest thing being he can’t seem to remember how he got to the snowy trail. Like the first book, I enjoyed reading about Sofia and her new friend. The author does a wonderful job of world and character building. I’m looking forward to reading more about the folks in Emerald Hollow.
This really gave my “PS I Love You” vibes. Laura lost her husband and part of herself. She threw herself into caring for her daughter and grandkids and stopped doing things for herself. But when she joins a book club, all the other ladies convince her to take a chance and she winds up going on a trip to London. She ends up meeting Hugh and quickly falls for him. There are some unexpected speed bumps in the story that they have to work out, to decide if they want to be together. It was a cozy and short read that serves as a reminder that you can still find love again, no matter what age. And that sometimes when you take a chance you can really find yourself and your happiness again
