Come Home to DeathCome Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Erica was raised by her aunts in her hometown, and when it came time to leave she vowed to never return there. After marrying her husband, Terry, just 9 months ago, she is visited at home by two thugs who claim Terry owes their boss money from racking up gambling debts. Conveniently, Terry is gone at the time on one of his many business trips which leaves his wife’s life to be threatened. Although she swore she would never go back to her hometown, she has no choice if she wants to have a chance to actually come up with the money, so she heads back to see if she can get the rest of her parents trust left to her.

Upon returning, she discovers that awaiting her 25th birthday will make her a very wealthy woman. Unfortunately, someone else knows that as well and is trying to keep her from reaching the special occasion. Along the way, Erica learns a lot about who she can and cannot trust, not to be so naive, that help doesn’t always come from places you expect, and more. Full of mystery, intrigue, growth, drama, secrets. Will Erica discover who is on her side and who isn’t? Will she be able to pay off her husbands debts? What else will she learn along the way?
