Kris’s adventures have definitely become a series of books that are a favorite of mine and my grandkids and this one did not disappoint. With her vividly wild imagination Kris brings us on an adventure like no other, a Cattle Drive. Full of rustlers, Indians, horses, high stakes, a hungry mountain lion, a missing cow and more. These are great chapter books and are perfect for 6-10 yrs of age.

This was a phenomenal book! I loved it from the very first few pages. From the hard times Barbara faced to set the stage for the story, to the heavy layers of injustice at the workplace, and then add in the romance…just wow! The roles that Barbara and Sebastian played in the book and how they each faced various struggles, sometimes having those struggles overlap was fantastic. I just couldn’t put this book down. I really enjoyed it. So many components came together to really make this a wonderful reading experience for me. Well done Paulette Stout!

Sure As Hell (Life Is Hell Book 4) by Naomi Valkyrie. I love this series and I think each book gets better. I would recommend reading these in order so you get all the great details. Its the story of Juniper Lake a not so normal destination, it just happens to be a hot spot for demons. We meet Jaru who is an imp and a former contact companion who feels like he not doing his job up to par. Jaru decides to open a new business, much to his best friend Lark’s dismay. Lark is actually jealous of all the time Jaru spends on this new business since they are a new couple. Lark decides to mess up the business on purpose so that he can have all of Jaru’s attention. Will Jaru’s business make it and will Lark get all of Jaru’s attention or will Lark’s interference cause them to split permanently. Read Sure as Hell to find out all this and more!

This was another new-to-me author, and she told a good story. There were some twists I didn’t expect, which I love! There were a few sketchy characters in which the author leads the reader to believe one truth about them, but will have you second-guessing yourself as you read.
Being newly married, Erica Parker comes home to find thugs looking for her groom (Terry) to claim a debt he owes. On the lookout for safety, Erica returns to her hometown; a place she swore she would never revisit. While there, family members and close family friends begin to show their true colors when word gets out that Erica is about to come into a large sum of money. In a few short days, she will turn 25 and become an overnight millionaire. Now, she has a target on her back. What are those around her willing to do to get a piece of her money pie?
The author uses extensive vocabulary. 1/3 of the way through, I enjoyed learning new words. However, 39% through the book, it started getting on my nerves. It was almost like she knew what word to use, researched synonyms, and picked the longest word possible to replace it. In addition to that, the chapters were incredibly long, and I’m not a fan of lengthy chapters. They were roughly 22-35 minutes per chapter.
Overall, it was a good read, and I would check out another book by her.

Under the Bandage is a fun, engaging and imaginative story. With some of the pages have very interesting facts to learn….the story is told in a rhyme….what can happen after you skin your knee!! We learn as we follow each page to clean and cover the hurt so it feels better…..but how our body helps the healing.
This was a fun story. The illustrations were very colorful and really brought the story to life. While this book is more for ages 5- 8 years of age even the young at heart while you read to the littles can learn some new things as well and I loved that about this story.

This was a really enjoyable YA paranormal romance. It is a story full of magic, myths, danger, romance, ancient goddesses and secrets all set in the boundaries of an academy. I loved Corisande, she is a character who I really felt for because she sees herself as a monster and finds it hard to believe that anyone can see her as anything more than that. Corisande is a Siren. She has been cursed with this which means she always has to fight the urge to sing because her song can lure men to their death. And that’s what happened. One fateful day she thought it was safe to sing her song but it wasn’t safe and all and it brought Noah almost to his death. After Corisande saves Noah she can’t help but feel drawn to him but she doesn’t understand the reason why. As she gets to know him questions arise that needs to be answered such as should she tell him the truth about what she is? Could there be a connection between his uncle who survived a shipwreck and a past student who saved a human then ended up losing their life? What happens when a life that is supposed to be sacrificed survives? Does there need to be another person taken in their place?
This story is fast paced and very unique. It is part of a series but you can read this story as a standalone. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read more.

The co-authors of this murder-mystery are MDs, so it only makes sense that it is so well-written that I had white knuckles gripping it while my eyes soaked it in. The main characters are Dr. Louise Finnerty and Dr. Marnie Liccione, an emergency medicine physician and pediatrician respectively. These lead female characters are strong, well-rounded, intelligent, and pretty awesome. In this first installment, when their friend dies, Finnerty and Liccione set out to figure out just how it happened. This story involves intriguing conspiracies and is very relevant to the things we face in real-life these days. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get lost in a good, gripping, interesting read that also makes you think.

This is the second installment of the Finnerty and Liccione series, and believe me when I tell you I almost cried when it was over. I wanted it to last much longer. Again, these co-authors turned out a story that is so well-written and intriguing that it is SO HARD to put down and deal with the responsibilities of normal life. In this book, Drs Finnerty and Liccione once again set out to figure out a mysterious death – this time of a veteran. Like the first book, this one is full of real-life problems that many face every day. I am hoping there is a third book to this series and highly recommend this and the first to anyone wanting to get lost in a good story.

This is the 10th book in the series and it can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read every book in this series but I have read a few. It is a good read if yup don’t read the others but you would gain more perspective with the story having read them in order. That said, let’s break down this book without giving anything away. First, you will be submersed into a paranormal world that is so vividly described that you are able to picture everything like a photograph in your mind. That is just the beginning, you will then meet all of these characters that are going to have you second guessing whether or not they actually exist. The author has written everything so thoughtfully and carefully that you highly expect for all of these supernatural beings are real. It will have you saying, how did the author think of that, because even if you didn’t see that coming or that being an ability; you do now. There are things in this book that just make sense, like of course that is happening because why wouldn’t it, types of situations. However, you as the reader don’t expect it and then you’re sitting there like….yep, should have guessed. This book takes twists and turns that you don’t see coming. There is suspense, mystery, action, romance, steam, paranormal beings, supernatural powers, and an amazing story line. You can’t go wrong with reading this book and I am thinking I am going to do a deep dive into the rest of the books I haven’t read yet. They seem to keep getting better and better with each one. Kris and the Cowboys is the third book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. This is a fun and intriguing instalment in this children’s (beginner) chapter book series- aimed at children aged 6 – 10 years…. Mr. Blegen always manages to come up with fun, new adventures for Kris to get swept into- and this one finds her on a cattle drive that will challenge her along the way. It’s a wonderfully vivid story which is easy to understand, and easy to read. Another well written, and imaginative story which is accompanied by some small (B + W) illustrations (heading up each chapter) that also help to bring the story to life. Kris’s love of reading, along with her very vivid imagination means that she finds an ‘adventure’ wherever she goes. This story starts with her father dropping her off at Uncle Buddy’s ranch where Kris learns to ride a horse, and learns about a ‘working’ ranch and ranch life. When Uncle Buddy sets off on a cattle drive, Kris is determined to tag along- but Uncle Buddy doesn’t think she’s experienced enough just yet. But, Kris finds her own way of getting on a cattle drive- and is soon swept into an adventure with mystery, high stakes, rustlers, a missing cow, Indians, a hungry mountain lion, a flash flood that sweeps through the canyon they are travelling through, danger, dramatic developments, challenges, thinking ‘on your feet’, overcoming obstacles, a rescue, new friendships, family, and more. What happens makes for a great little read. Each instalment in the series could be read as a standalone, as each has its own fully contained adventure, starring Kris. So there’s absolutely no worry that you might end up feeling like you are ‘missing’ anything that occurred in the previous books which might affect this story. But, having said that, Kris finds herself in lots of interesting situations that results in fun adventures- which you will definitely want to be part of…. Mood Swings and Hockey Flings by Sylvie Stewart and Marika Ray is the second book in the Hot Flash Hookups series. I absolutely loved the first book. But the second one did not disappoint. This is one of the best series I have read in a long time. I love the more mature main characters. It makes the story so much more relatable. If you like Hockey romance but our tired of young 20 something FMC’s look no further. Another 5 out 5 stars from me!

The Strategist is the fifth book in the fantastic ‘WaterFyre Rising’ series by Nadia Han. I have been captivated by this series right from the beginning, since first devouring The Mastermind- and this book certainly lived up to expectation. Ms. Han certainly knows how to weave an enticing story, the way she has deftly woven each book, focusing each instalment on its own particular ‘couple’, but also building a gripping, overarching storyline that wends its way through the series- building on what has come before, and instalment by instalment, painting a much bigger and more intriguing picture/story. ‘The Strategist’ is an engrossing contemporary romantic suspense with a former Navy SEAL, a bit of a billionaire romance element, intrigue, dramatic developments, danger, chemistry, sizzle, angst, tension, secrets, forced proximity, emotion, family, friendship, intensity, mystery, violence, action, the Triad, sinister enemies, agendas, evil bad guys, a powerful criminal organisation, trauma, pain, hope, healing, a dynamic & multilayered storyline, and superb characters (& more). This is Arrow Holt and Vivian Vo’s story- whom we have both met in previous books, as Arrow has been an integral part of the Waterfyre family since the beginning, and Vivian is friends with the Waterfyre women. Vivian has huge secrets that have shaped who she is and the path her life has taken. She is haunted by the past and has trouble trusting, building a wall around her heart in the process. Arrow had pursued her in the past, but she had rejected him as her plans don’t include love and romance. But she is drawn to him, and running into him at a wine expo only fans the embers of attraction into flames. Arrow has his own scars and memories that haunt him, but Vivian seems to have a way of soothing his demons- and Arrow wants more. He is a brilliant entrepreneur whose strategies have made him a formidable opponent- and extremely rich in the process…. He now uses his strategic mind to dismantle every wall that Vivian had built, and to devise a way to make her his. Add in a dangerous quest, agendas, intensity, sizzling chemistry, and searing passion- and their story becomes unputdownable- and one of the best of the series. As mentioned, even though each book has its own couple and storyline, all the books combined help to build a much bigger picture, providing morsels of information on the other recurring characters, the backstories, overarching storyline, and all the intriguing Waterfyre details. The whole Waterfyre element is what really hooked me into the series in the first place, and that combined with the exciting storylines, help to make this series stand out from the crowd. The story was a little slow to build momentum, to begin with – but as the story progressed, and after only a few chapters, the pace really picked up, the intrigue kicked in, and the story completely captured me and had me gripped tightly all the way till the end. I read the whole thing in one sitting, as I needed to know how everything would play out in the end. I loved meeting the intriguing new characters who have joined the Waterfyre family and can’t wait to read their story (Coming in Book #6 – ‘The Protégé’ – which is set to be amazing!). Happy Reading!

Under the Bandage is a fun children’s story by Lois Wickstrom. The story has an educational component, as it helps to explain our bodies immune response/immune system, how it deals with bacteria/infection (liking it to a battle with soldiers), and the healing process- as well as other interesting facts found on nearly every page…with a list of our body’s main defenses found at the end of the story. Our little MC skins his knee while playing, so after washing it clean, his mother puts a bandage on it and tells him that it will heal faster if he doesn’t peek- and also tells him that he will need a new bandage put on it every day, for a week. He is very curious about what is happening ‘Under the Bandage’…. The illustrations are really cute- big, bright, bold, and colourful – bringing the story to life and really grabbed my grandchildren’s attention. The story is told in a rhyming verse, which added an extra element of interest to the overall story. While the ‘story’ itself is written in a way that is easy to read and understand, the ‘interesting facts’ portion of the story has some ‘bigger’, more complicated words which children may have trouble reading and understanding (but those parts could be skipped over if you wanted, without affecting the ‘actual’ story). As soon as I saw this pop up, I new I had to read it. Sylvie Stewart is a great author and I was excited to see they collabed with a new to me author. I thought this was a great weekend read and I didn’t want to put it down. The two main characters are older than most of the MCs in books that I read and I loved that. They had a whirlwind meetup that ended badly. The feel good nice feeling turned into a long period of dislike. The banter between the two was fantastic and I enjoyed their story of finding each other again navigating their tricky relationship. I was rooting for them and was happy to follow them to their HEA. I am looking forward to reading more by both of these authors and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good book to read! Happy Reading!

In this the 4th book of the Life is Hell Series we finally get a Jaru and Larkpur’s story, and their friends to lovers romance. I could not wait to jump back into the world of Juniper Lake. I wish it was a real place, creatures, danger and all lmao. Like I said before, this Author makes me really enjoy the M/M trope which isn’t really my go to read, but this author just does such a great job at storytelling and world building. I can’t put the book down. It takes only a couple hours to finish.( that good) I highly suggest reading in order to get a better understanding of all the other characters. And just because they’re all great lmao but can be read as a standalone looking forward to more

I’ve had my eye on this series for a while but have never taken the leap to read it until now. Why I started with book 5 I couldn’t tell you. I guess I’m just random like that. I realized that they can be read as standalone novels but by starting from the beginning you gain more from the series and have all your questions answered if you read the series in order. Arrow and Vivian are a power couple once they get together, but in the mean time they do surely take their time getting there. She’s an independent, fierce self defense teacher/dentist, and Arrow is a morally gray retired Navy seal who has an interest in wine. Their chemistry was great, the novel was intense, and meaningful. I’m so glad I gave this novel a chance. I am looking forward to going back to start this series from the beginning.

4 stars Under the Bandage is another unique children story from Lois. The story is told in a rhythmic rhyming way that makes the kids want to join in. Not only is there is the main story, but Lois also includes smaller pictures and information facts pertaining to a certain portion of the story. Follow along as what started out as a scrape turns into a war. A troop of soldiers ready to defend and repair and stop those that are attacking. What better and fun way to teach little minds and explain what is going on so they are not so worried about scrapes and injuries. But this is what Lois does, she takes a topic and makes it into a bright, colourful and fun learning experience without them even knowing because to them it is just a story. I would recommend this book for any 5–8-year-olds. Have fun reading.

4.5 stars I can’t believe we are at book five in this series already. I have loved this series from the very first book and each book there after only gets better and better. This is my favourite story in the series although I have said that about the others. This is one series that you should get behind because it is great reading. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I say make sure you start with The Mastermind which stars the first of the WaterFyre men to get his story told. The Strategist is Arrow’s story and Nadia has woven a complex tale that I could not set aside I had to keep the pages turning because I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted to see how it all went. I love getting the inside thoughts of the characters instead of it being one sided and Nadia does this by writing in dual POV. Arrow left the life of a Navy SEAL behind but that doesn’t mean he can leave behind painful memories that is until her but when danger comes calling can he help her? Or better yet does she need his help? Will her secrets keep them from what could truly be? Danger and dark secrets that may just destroy it all. What happens next makes for one intriguing and engrossing read. As always, I look forward to seeing what Nadia gives us next.

I LOVED this book! What more could you ask for? A RomCom full of witty banter and relatable characters.
I was so excited when the book began with a meet-cute! Only for things to take a turn after a single interaction. Ten years pass and the pair is forced into a last resort situation that both Kaitlyn and Ben claim to both hate but neither want to end. The banter between the pair had me laughing out loud.
I love the authenticity of this book. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies, but neither is real life. Perceptions of people change and forced proximity forges new relationships.
If you’re looking for a quick read with a show burn and forbidden love, this one is for you.

Seeing this I had to give it a try, like who better to write a medical murder mystery than two MDs 😀 you just know the lingo was going to be a plus. This is my first time reading work from these authors and I’m glad I did. Although I have a hard time stopping myself from going to the end to peek at who did ( i may or may not have done it lol) I enjoyed the nail biting ride it was getting there. I will 100 percent be going back to reading the previous book.( even though you don’t have to to understand). The author did a fantastic job at keeping you intrigued while reading. Switching from multiple POVs, which furthers the tangled web of mystery and secrets like i said it will keep you on your toes. I Highly recommend you give this book a try, if you haven’t already.

The Better Man is book two in the Silver Buckle Brides Romance series. I was worried about starting in the middle of a series but quickly found that these books can be read as standalone novels. This was a sweet, feel good, squeaky clean romance that very closely resembled real life, and real life struggles, woven through with fun banter, and good humor despite those aforementioned struggles. These characters became friends, and with this authors writing the characters come to life throughout this novel. I loved seeing how much progress the characters made, how the characters grew, and came into their own. Laramee and Jamie definitely ran away with my heart. A wonderful novel about overcoming fears, obstacles, and redemption.

4 stars Kris & The Cowboys is the third book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. It is a colourful and imaginative chapter book adventure story. It is appropriately aimed at children from six to ten years old. This delightful children’s story is fun and is vividly rich in its story telling. It brings delight to young minds as their imagination puts them into the story along with Kris. It’s not just a story as there are things to learn along the way. Follow along as Kris is out in the beautiful countryside where things are not what they seem. With Cowboys, Indians, horses, cattle rustlers and much, much more there is something for everyone.

Great story. Pretty cool the way the main characters come together to find a way to make things work even though they are on different sides of the situation in the beginning. They are definitely feeling something for one another but are they willing to cross that line? They both have walls up and are having a hard time facing the reality of their feelings for one another. I really enjoyed watching their growth in friendship and eventually more.

I love this series so much. I was so excited to see that this is a series because I really loved Hot Flashes and Hockey Slashes. I really love this series because it’s about women in their 30’s-40’s going through life as single women and fighting for love. This book really drew me in because Kaitlyn with a “K” is a career woman and reality starts to change right in front of her eyes and VERY quickly. As a single career woman myself, I found it so fun to sit down every night and read a little bit more about how she handles her career, her heels, and her dating life. I think this book is a GREAT read for all ages, but especially single women in this age range. It gives me a little bit of hope that a Hockey player will come and sweep me off my feet. (Kidding…kinda)

After reading the Detective Dylan and the Hunt for Home Plate another Chapter Book by this author.( which the kiddos love ) I had to check this out. This is the first book from The Borosa Legacy following Amese who is 13 years old who’s trying to figure out her abilities and her destiny. We made quick work of this magic filled adventure, just like the other book. After the Cliffhanger we definitely can’t wait for this next part to come. What another great book from this author. I highly suggest getting and reading with the kiddos You will not regret it. 🥰

This is the second book in this series and while you can 100% read it as a standalone this is a series that will bring up characters from previous books so it may add to the experience if you read book 1 first (but you don’t have to). Jamie and Laramee are two people who are dealing with past issues and have to interact with each other. There is humor and wonderful character development. Their romance is gentle despite the head butting and is very sweet to read. This was a lovely book.

I am new to this author and the Echo series in general. Having no prior knowledge of this series did not hinder my enjoyment or understanding of Healing Hearts since it reads well as a stand alone. Right away I liked Gene and felt he was a realistic, warm and compassionate character (consistent with a doctor) and I came to believe Amanda’s character was well written as well. This book was longer than I anticipated but it read well without any lulls or difficulty following the storyline. I enjoyed this author’s writing style, varying from the alternating narration so many novels feature. Overall,I enjoyed this backstory and look forward to reading more in this series.
