“Under the Bandage” by Lois Wickstrom is a fascinating and informative story that will help children understand the process of wound healing. The story is told from the perspective of a young boy who has skinned his knee and is forced to wear a bandage by his mother.

The use of personification, such as comparing the bacteria to enemies and the construction crew to workers, helps to make the concept more accessible and memorable for young readers. The illustrations accompanying the story are also helpful in visualizing the different stages of wound healing.

This book is an excellent resource for children who have experienced wounds or injuries, as it helps to demystify the healing process and reassure them that it’s a normal part of getting better.
