The South Seas Shenanigans: A Sparky of Bunker Hill MysteryThe South Seas Shenanigans: A Sparky of Bunker Hill Mystery by Rosalind Barden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This mystery continues the adventures of Sparky, our unconventional protagonist, who finds herself amidst a tangled web of intrigue aboard a cruise ship filled with former Hollywood legends.

From the very first page, Barden skillfully immerses us in the vibrant atmosphere of the era—complete with the unmistakable glamour of Hollywood’s golden age and the palpable tension of a murder mystery. Sparky’s voice is refreshingly authentic for her age, capturing the wit and resourcefulness of an eleven-year-old who has had to fend for herself in a tough world. The premise of a stowaway escaping the confines of school sets the stage for a lively narrative filled with both humor and suspense, and it was a quick but enjoyable read.
