This Time Around by Kimberly Packard – Review by Lucinda Morton-Phillips

This Time AroundThis Time Around by Kimberly Packard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Josie Gardiner’s life revolves around her 2 children and the business that she built from the ground up. On one of the worst days of her life, her ex-husband wants to take her children away and her business is on the verge of failing, she collapses and wakes to find herself in her teenage bedroom, 30 years in the past.
Josie realises that she has a chance to have a do-over and maybe fix some of the mistakes she made in the past, including telling the boy she always believed was the love of her life that she loves him. But all decisions have consequences and whilst she might end up with the love of her life, she could lose the children she already has. Is it worth it?
I loved this book. The characters were so well-written and full of heart. you could really empathise with Josie and the choices she had to make to try to get back to her future. It was thought provoking and I thought the ending was perfect.

Master Bistrita (Masters of the Consulate Book #11) by Sylvia Black – Review by Angela Hayes

Master Bistrita (Masters of the Consulate #11)Master Bistrita by Sylvia Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 Stars

Master Bistrita is the eleventh book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. It is another dark paranormal romance with fated mates, vampires, shifters, witches, magic, rogues, pure bloods, politics, agendas, dramatic developments, BDSM, age gap, supernatural elements, secrets, lies, powerful foes, unexpected allies, danger, tension, intrigue, chemistry, sizzle, action, and more.
This is Master Bistrita and Chara’s story- which is a dark, tense, romantic suspense-that not only tells their story, but also helps build onto the bridging story which has been developing over the course of the series.
Again, as with the rest of the series, this is told from a duel POV- which helps deliver a fuller perspective- while building a bigger picture of developments.
There is a lot going on here, and a large ‘cast’ of characters- delivering a fast-paced read that’s descriptive and detailed.
The next is instalment — “Master Slobozia” (Book #12) releases in October, and I’m curious to see where we go from here.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Sylvia Black!

“How many times will you risk your heart for love?”

From Darkness Into Love is the first book in the Hope & Hearts From Swan Harbor series by Sophie Bartow. It is an angsty and emotional small town contemporary romance- with suspense, intrigue, mystery, drama, danger, heartache, pain, loss, 2nd chances, chemistry, steam, family, friendship, and the healing power of love.
This might have been my first read by Ms. Bartow, but it certainly won’t be the last.

The Predator Part Two (The Predator Series Book #2) by Brooke May – Review by Angela Hayes

The Predator Part TwoThe Predator Part Two by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Predator Part Two is the second book in The Predator Series by Brooke May– and continues Katie and Chamberlain’s story we started in Part One. It is a passionate contemporary, second chance, sports romance, where opposites attract- bringing angst, emotion, angst, secrets, lies, suspense, drama, chemistry, and lots of sizzle.
Chamberlain and KC are from two different worlds, but the heart wants what the heart wants- and as we discovered in Part One- these two have quite a journey and story to tell. As this continues what we started in Part One, I highly recommend reading the first book before starting on this one, as otherwise you will be missing the start of their story and all the important details contained there.
Ms. May never ceases to deliver an engrossing and heart-strumming story that toys with my emotions – resulting in an engaging story that I can easily connect with, while getting completely invested in the characters and the outcome of their tale.
Highly recommended- especially if you like MMA romances with sizzling chemistry.
The Series Consists of:
-The Predator Part One (Book #1) – Katie and Chamberlain’s Story.
-The Predator Part Two (Book #2) – Katie and Chamberlain’s Story.
-Wildfire Knockout (Book #3) – Beth and Scott’s Story.
-Back In the Ring (Book #4) – Bijou and Noah’s story.
Happy Reading…

The Story That Ties Us (Love Ties Us Series) by Nicolette Terry – Review by Brandy Rymer

The Story That Ties UsThe Story That Ties Us by Nicolette Terry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nicolette Terry is a new author who hit her first book right out of the park! This first book in the Love Ties Us series is amazing, it had me in tears throughout the story. There were so many instances that I felt that I was right there with the group of friends experiencing their trials, their losses, and their heartbreak. What a beautiful gift to be able to write such a realistic romance, that carries such a sad tale of heartbreak, but which was necessary to lead to the rekindling of a second chance at love. The realism of the action in the military scenes just about did me in, they were so realistic with the stories that I’ve heard from veterans. I truly hope that there are such amazing resources that are available as the ones that are mentioned in this book because there are so many who battle the demons of their memories of what people have experienced while serving our amazing nation.

I could not put this book down and am so excited to read more books by this author. I am hoping that she will continue to build stories around all of the other characters within the group of special friends because I am already hooked and invested in their lives and want more. The build-up of each character having such mischievous attitudes makes for some amazing future storylines, that are yet to be explored. This was most definitely a book I’d recommend to anyone who loves a continuing storyline that doesn’t fail to connect, as you’ll see when you read this, the first of this book series. Happy reading everyone, I know I truly enjoyed this new author’s first book and look forward to reading many more by her.

No One Could See the Flea Tricia Gardella is an illustrated children’s picturebook with a cute story that my grandchildren thought was fun. The illustrations are bright, colourful, and engaging- which made the ‘adventure’ come to life.
What happens when Shank, the dog, gets an itch? We join in as his owner, Jack, tries everything that he, and his friends, can come up with to rid Shank of his fleas. What ensues turns into a bit of a crazy romp…
Looking forward to more stories from Tricia Gardella.
Highly recommended.

The Music That Ties Us (Love Ties Us Series) by Nicolette Terry – Review by Brandy Rymer

The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance (Love Ties Us)The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance by Nicolette Terry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this book series and recommend anyone looking for a feel-good romance series to start with the first book and then this one second. Each can be a standalone, but you’d be missing out on getting to know the whole gang that are key characters in each book. Nicolette Terry has written such a great book series, it gave me everything that I want in a romance, and then more. The author’s use of such masterful ways of going into detail about the character’s life stories really draws you in and helps you to connect with them. Every character is so realistic, that you feel like you can relate to the real-world issues that are going on in their lives.

I love that this particular book gives us Cadence’s story and that we get to see what is going on between her and her boyfriend and learn who the “I met someone” is referring to from Book #1. It’s great to read a story that deals with regular people’s problems and have a glimpse into the lives of people who have not had an over-the-top family life but are more down to earth in the fact that they grew up with less than stellar situations. It allows the reader to feel an emotional connection, and to relate to the drama and contention that makes up the storyline. It’s so hard to trust love when you’ve been burnt and don’t feel like you are worthy of being yourself. It’s nice to have a story that connects so well and overlaps the previous book, showing how well they go together. You are just getting the situations from another point of view from other characters in the friends group.

This was a good wrap up on K.C. and Chamberlain. These two had many ups and downs through these two books and you are definitely rooting for them from the beginning. Now that Chamberlain has found the one that got away he doesn’t want to let her go again. They have so many things and people against them that it seems impossible for them to get a happily ever after. I was so glad to see that these two were able to work past the heartache and all the obstacles that were in their way. The author did an amazing job yet again. If you haven’t read any of her books you are missing out!

The Predator Part One is the latest in one of her series. K.C. and Chamberlain couldn’t be more different but as the saying goes, opposites attract. K.C. grew up in a prominent family as the daughter of a senator. Everything was dictated for her from how she walked and talked to the man she would marry. Chamberlain on the other hand grew up poor. The only thong in the world he wants is to be a fighter and he would not deviate from that path. He just never anticipated meeting K.C. and falling in love. Their relationship was as fast as it was furious and it eventually ended up with K.C. getting her heart broken. Now they have come face to face again but she isn’t ready to forgive. Will Chamberlain get K.C. to listen? I can’t wait to start book 2 to see the outcome of K.C. and Chamberlain’s story. This author has other great books out there and you should definitely go and check them out.

Back again after devouring the first book of this series. I ran to read this one. It’s a longer read than the last one both boy oh boy, it was just as good if not better. This one follows Cadence and Damien and their journey to their HEA. One thing I saw that the author did that I love was that she made a clean version and a spicy one. You know I had to get the spicy one but for the ones that don’t read for the spice then they can get the one without and still enjoy the story as well. I highly suggest that if y’all haven’t read any of this series go read it now lol the author is really talented and her writing transports you into the amazing world she’s built. Even though I don’t read rockstar romances that often, this one book of the series is my favorite so far . I can’t wait for more.

I’ve been reading a lot of second chances romances lately but i think this one takes the cake lol. Like reading this was definitely an emotional roller coaster from happy to teary eyed sad.the author really knows how to pull you in then make you feel the heartbreak alongside the MCs. I devoured this book fast just so I could get to their HEA. I can wait to read the rest of the series.

The Predator Part OneThe Predator Part One by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read several books by this author, but this is my absolute FAVORITE so far. The intense emotions, the drama, the steam! I was absolutely stunned to find how many pages were actually in this book because I devoured the entire story in a day. Needless to say, I got nothing else done that day. The characters are very well developed and relatable. Katie/K.C. and Chamberlain have so much chemistry that it’s hard to contain within the confines of these pages! The spice between them is magnificently done, and the plot definitely doesn’t rely on the steamy scenes to keep the story going. A couple of the characters made me yell out of frustration as well. If you enjoy contemporary romances with a solid plot and wonderfully spicy scenes sprinkled in, get your hands on this book. I am on pins and needles waiting to pick up the next book because I need more!

Naomi Valkyrie never fails to write a story that keeps you hooked from the first page. I have read quite a few by her and I have loved every single one. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I like stories that are told from multiple characters point of view. You get to know each character more. You get to know how they each think instead of just one side.
This is a second chance love story. Both characters feel quite defeated after a loss. Both feel the need to start fresh. But can they move on from their past to find love again? When their past comes calling, will they get past it?

I am normally not a huge fan of M and M books, but Unexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie really changed that for me. I was not disappointed and was kept my toes and that alone kept the pages turning for me. The characters in this story are strong yet broken. Both main characters are so good and so much emotion inside of them make this is read one that will not disappoint.
Jude and Elijah will grab at your heart and your emotions. Add in Elijah’s son Griffin and you have an amazing story. While they both push each other way for many reasons, Jude will do is job when he sees his new neighbor and son are in danger.

The Predator: Part One (The Predator Series Book 1)

I was hooked from the very beginning and I’m so ready to get started on part 2 of Chamberlain and K.C.’s story

I have read several books by Ms. May over the last few years so I knew her style and what to expect, but this book exceeded my expectations.

There were some very sweet moments and some hot moments and each one kept me wanting more of this sweet couple.

As someone who doesn’t have a good relationship with my Mom, my heart broke for K.C with each interaction with her family. I wish I had been able to find a Fiona in my life. She stepped up when everyone else failed K.C.

Chamberlain knew what he wanted to do with his life and was going to do everything possible to make it happen, didn’t expect to fall in love along the way and thankfully that didn’t derail his plans.

If you’re on the ropes about reading this book hopefully my review will help sway you.

Casting Vows (Hearts of Gold Book 3)Casting Vows by Ariella Talix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging MMF historical romance. I was transported back to Los Angeles in the 1880’s by the descriptive narrative and the historical details. Nicolo Stark-James is ready to love with his whole heart, but discovers that some despicable people want to ruin it. Meanwhile, Matty Remington longs to feel safe rather than trapped. As a man of strong faith he’s trying to reconcile his love for God with his personal desires. Eden Godwin could be the one to hold all three of them together, if only her future was her own. She must decide between love and saving her family from ruin. The storyline kept me happily turning the pages. I loved the three main characters, Nicolo, Matty and Eden and felt invested in their story. The chemistry between the three of them sizzled off the page and led to some steamy MMF scenes. Another entertaining story in the ‘Hearts of Gold’ series.

The Predator: Part Two is just as good as the first book if not better. No, it’s definitely better. It did not disappoint!! It picks up where book one left off so best be reading that one first troops. I now have any questions from the first book answered.
Chamberlain wants what’s his and make no mistake Katie is his. He had lost a part of himself when she was gone. OMG heartbroken, tears, longing, pain and that was just me. It will hit you in all the feels then some. But there is some laughter.
As I said with the first book this book has just as many intensely complex intertwined complex threads woven into a heartbreakingly beautiful story. I absolutely love the characters that are fully realise and believable.
Sexy, steamy, and sizzling.
Brooke’s narrative is spot on. Girl knows how to weave a tale and I have enjoyed each and every one I have read to date. She has become one of my fav authors.
I am off to read Wildfire Knockout (The Predator #3).

This book was just what my poor over romanced genre self needed. I love that it was a slow burn. I do not often read these and I might have to rethink that as this was so good. I love how there was adventure and drama mixed in and that it wasn’t an in your face oversexed read. Don’t get me wrong I do love those but sometimes a girl needs one that just has a huge build up and a happy ending to boot. I love how the author is able to bring the characters to life. I felt as though I was right there in the adventure with them. Definitely a good second book from this series. I cannot wait to see how the series will continue and play out.

From the beginning of this book, I was instantly hooked and couldn’t get enough of it, I was hooked from day one. This story was surprisingly good, filled with supernatural, mystery, adventure, thrill, chills, and so much more. Hazel and willow are sisters, and when one sister goes missing and isn’t found, the other sister goes into sister mood and does everything she possibly can to find her. But when willows ghost shows up with still no sign or her car, what really happened to her? This book had me on the edge of my seat, the characters were so well done it really made you feel like you know them, and the story line really flowed together and well. I can’t wait to read more in this series too, for the book didn’t end on a happy note, and continues in the next book.

The draws resonated towards my kids when I read this because it was in a style that they would be drawing right now, they were super excited that they even draw some pictures of there to go with the book after. The illustrations did go very well this book, and really made the story more vivid to what was going on. This follows a dinosaur that wonders why the ground around him gets warm, the examples and experiments that they go thou were very interesting to read about and how the figure out why the grounds hot. Great kids’ book, I like books that my kids can make up their own ideas on what’s going on and their ideas to figure something out.

This is the first book in The Predator series. The is a second chance sport romance with lots going on. From sizzling chemistry and emotions that cant be denied to family angst, drama, secrets and lies all adding up to an explosive story.

KC is a high society girl. She lives with parents who rule her life in everyway from the choice of the career they thing she should have, to how she dresses and even who she will marry. KC has always felt not good enough for her parents and she realises she has dreams of her own she has a difficult decision to make. Does she continue to tow the line, do I job she will hate and marry a man who’s abusive or does she stand up to them and tell them that she be following their plans.

Chamberlain is an up and coming fighter. When he meets KC the chemistry between them is instant. Chamberlain could have any good he wanted but he can’t deny the attraction and pull he feels towards KC.
KC knows he would never be accepted as her partner by her parents but she can’t deny the way he makes her feel. She knows if she wants him and her own life she has to leave her parents.
With Chamberlain she gets the courage to do just that. But what happens when KC’s world is shattered. When the one person she thought cared for her turns out to not be the person she thought.
With her parents against them and also the dangers of all the women who surround Chamberlain did they ever stand a chance?

This is a rollercoaster of a story. My heart went out to KC as it seemed she is battling with everyone in her life. This was such a great read that I can’t wait to jump into book 2 to see how this story turns out.
