I was immediately intrigued by the synopsis of this book and I was not disappointed either. The story of Ella, Jake and Tessa is captivating. I admire Ella and her tenacity, dedication, and loyalty to her sister and niece. She is willing to do whatever it takes, no matter how many hurdles she must jump, in order to fulfill her sister’s last wishes.
Jake, also displayed strong dedication and loyalty to his family ties and ensuring his relatives were not being taken advantage of. As the two face each other in the legal battlefields, they also cannot dismiss the growing attraction between them. The emotions and feelings they possess are conflicting, to say the least. Twists and turns are around every corner, and Ella and Jake are lost in the maze of lies while seeking the truth.

I really enjoyed this gripping crime story. This story is a chilling, twisted read. The author does an amazing job with the characters and the storyline. It really gives an insight into what life is like in the police force. Even those this is a crime story about a serial killer there is also a romance blossoming between Bobbi and Max. They are work colleagues and even though Bobbi doesn’t want to mix business with pleasure the connection between them is undeniable.
Bobbi has joined a new team of detectives but she’s not going to be welcome with open arms. Her new partner doesn’t want her so she makes her life hell from the beginning making Bobbi feel unwanted. There is a member of her team that makes her feel welcome though and that’s Max. The connection between Bobbi and Max is undeniable. When there is a serial killer called The Bathtub Murder on the loose. Bobbi and Max’s department are on the hunt. When it turns out that Bobbi fits the type of victim the killer likes, she wants to work undercover to help capture this killer. Max doesn’t like this idea and doesn’t want Bobbi in harms way. With everything in place for Bobbi to go undercover will Max be able to keep her self from The Bathtub Murderer and stop him from attacking again, or will the murderer attack again and take the woman that Max is giving his heart too? Powerful! Intense! Suspenseful! This book will have you on the edge of your seat. This author has written one of the most extraordinary books I’ve read this year. Rose, Brian, Max, Bobbie, McCauley, Marco, Bobbi’s parents, Andrew and a cast of supporting characters make for a some very good drama that you’ll never find on those TV shows. (bum, bum, bum…). I found myself holding my breath as the story built to find the ritual serial killer. The plot is built around Bobbie joining the force and having to live down her Debutante rep; Rose being know as a “witch”; etc. We get to see romances build; families get used to new careers and new romances; old dreams will die. Plot twists will abound and I love the fact that they don’t make a mess out of the plot; they flow just like they are naturally built there. I love all the subplots. This books grabs you and won’t let go. You will want more (I do….). The characters are well-developed and you feel like part of the story. Protagonists abound and those antagonists are going to get what’s coming. I loved this book and the author is now on my favorites list. I highly recommend this. There is steaminess and some triggers in this.

This story hit home with me. Anxiety and mental illness is a real part of peoples life, and I think it’s was well displayed in this story. Evans story related so much to myself, anxiety can wreck you self confidence and cause you to doubt yourself and everything and everyone around you. Callie was such a supporter of Evan, it goes to show everyone deserves to love and to be loved I also loved how therapy was not overlooked. It showed that there is no shame in going to therapy or taking medications to be your beat self, and everyone could use a little therapy, someone unbiased yo talked to.
It was a wonderful story of self love, support and struggles.

The Liminal Space (Antipodes Book 2) by T.S. Simons. This is a awesome 2nd book in the Antipodes Series. I recommend reading the first book to fully understand what’s happening and to get the full effect of the book. Its the continuing story of Cameron (Cam) who is doing well in his new community with his friend Fraser. He has become very happy with his life here but still misses those he lost desperately. He has become very confident of his status and his abilities as he has grown so much. There is still a feeling of missing out on the old way and world. He is trying to make right the wrongs he made in the last life and hopes to teach others that there are other ways to do things to get better endings. This is a very thought provoking read and you will be flipping pages late in the night. Don’t miss out on this great read.

Even though I couldn’t get into the first book of the series, The Graceful Ghost, I really enjoyed this book. The camaraderie between the ghosts and the main character as well as the playfulness really made the book.

This book was a great start to this series! While I have never read anything by this author, I was interested in picking up this book based on its description– “a darker, grittier Alice in Wonderland” and I was not disappointed. This fantasy story includes everything you might be looking for — a mirror world, magic, family, loss, danger, adventure, and more! The main character, Evaline, has hopes of becoming a detective but due to a recent tragedy, her father has hopes of her marrying their (older) neighbor. When a stranger asks the family for help, Evaline finds her chance to follow her dreams. Her adventure begins as she is sucked into a different dimension to battle a doctor of death with a goal to stop him from reaching London. The beginning was a bit slow but once the action began, I could not put this down. I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

I really enjoyed the experience that was Eric and Kiki. This author is new to me and I will definitely be picking her books up again. There was so much drama, angst, and sweet moments in this book. It showcases true love and the lengths that you may have to go through to find it and keep it. Kiki was such a force on her own right and the fame and success still allowed her to be grounded. Eric was such a sweet and nice guy and he had a good heart. Together they built something amazing and the journey that it took for them to get to that good place was well worth the read.

Where do I start with this book? First of all, I love a great romantic suspense/thriller, and having read (and loved) most of Ms. Dunn’s previous works, I really was incredibly excited to read this book- especially after I got to lay eyes on the cover and read the blurb. I really thought that this would be Ms. Dunn’s best book yet. So, to say I had high expectations is a bit of an understatement. Ritual Obsession is the first book in the Blood Obsession series by R.L Dunn. It is an action-packed romantic suspense- with mystery, murder, crime & investigation, police procedure, danger, intrigue, violence, murder, potential triggers (abuse, sexual assault, violence, emotional harassment, intimidation, manipulation) sinister plots, dramatic developments, chemistry, spice, ANGST….. and much more. As I was reading this, I felt like I was reading an earlier piece writing project of Ms. Dunns as I didn’t think it ‘felt’ as well-woven or polished as the other books of hers that I have read. I really struggled in my reading of this story- and is the first time that I haven’t been completely absorbed by one of her stories. I started and stopped so many times, and was easily distracted while reading. I had to ‘work’ to stay focused and immersed in the storyline. I wanted to give up so many times, but kept going, hoping that it would finally ‘click’ for me. But it didn’t. And I was left disappointed, because there was real potential here for a stellar read. The synopsis held the promise of everything I could hope to have in a book- but I hate to say that unfortunately this one had tooooooo much going on in it which only served to distract from the overall storyline. I will try and explain this.. I felt like there was a LOT of added information, almost like the story was being ‘padded out’. An ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ scenario. The plot went off on various tangents, quite often. There was a LOT of time/storyline spent describing dinner dates, adding/dumping information, manufacturing drama, and describing other characters ‘lives’- so much so- most of it wasn’t really pertinent to the story and didn’t help to propel the story forward in any way. I felt really frustrated by this and it really detracted from the story and my overall enjoyment of it. There was so much ‘thrown’ at this story that the end result felt overly complicated by unnecessary ‘dramatics’ and all the info dumps. As an example, the story shows our ‘main character’ Bobbie and her family/social dynamics, her new placement as detective in a new precinct, her work partners prickly reception that backflips into friendship, her other work colleague/dynamics, station politics/procedures, Bobbie’s chemistry and subsequent romance with Max (a colleague), her obsessed/possessive ex, her friendship with her housemate and their dynamics, the murders, the investigation/trying to track down the killer, her colleague Rose’s relationship/s love triangle of sorts with Andrew and Marco, the voodoo aspect, the killers perspective, lots of backstory and flashbacks, and so much dialogue, details, and other descriptions. I’m not sure what relevance was to be had to the overall story by going into Rose’s relationship/love life in such detail- with her swearing that one was the love of her life- then doing a complete 180 with the whole situation? I didn’t think any of that was relevant to the story??? It just seemed to be ‘added/manufactured drama’? I think most of that thread could have been left out and it would have made the story better, as it really just took the focus off the obsession/serial killer/investigation, which was supposed to be the ‘main’ part of the story. Then we get the story from multiple POVs, which I normally love as it gives a broader perspective to the storyline- but in this instance, we get so many that I think it detracted from, as well as bogged down, the main story. The dialogue also felt off at times, somewhat stilted or ‘manufactured’. And I felt that the intimate/sex scenes were also not up to Ms. Dunn’s usual level. I could go on, but I hope you get my point. I really wanted to love this book so much, and I feel bad that I can’t give it a higher rating. I am intrigued by what might happen in the next instalment, so I will be diving into that when it lands, and will keep you posted on my thoughts there. Hopefully my issues here will be sorted out or make more sense in the next book. Happy Reading!

I truly love this book, and it’s one of my favorite ones I’ve read this year. It’s such a fast paced and fun story, and you get absorbed as you read it. Rhiannon or Aqua Marine was a great character. Having a superhero dad and villain mom is nothing of the normal. However she embraces it and she’s trying to the best of her ability to excel because she wants to follow in her father‘s footsteps, but she felt she’s lacking. There was just so much that went into the story that made it so amazing. Everyone loves a good superhero and this definitely have it.

Tale of a Body Thief is the fantastic first instalment in the Rovena Silvex Chronicles by Kristy Centeno. I have loved everything I have read by this author, so I was definitely excited to get my hands this, her latest offering. I had really high expectations going into this story, as her previous books have been amazing- and I couldn’t help but wonder if it was possible for her to hit another home run with this new story/series. I needn’t have worried though, and never should have doubted her- as this book is every bit as good as her previous works- if not better. This is a wonderfully original and exciting fantasy with intriguing paranormal elements, plenty of action, danger, the occult, hunters, demons, witches, thrills, excitement, edge of your seat suspense, mystery, dramatic developments, violence, the supernatural, good vs evil, agendas, and adventure. There is so much packed in-between the covers of this book- making for such an exciting read. I was completely hooked right from the word go- and didn’t come up for air till I had read every last word. Ms. Centeno has written such an engrossing, detailed, and wonderfully dynamic story- that I was completely caught up in all the developments. She had me avidly reading the whole way through, sometimes on the edge of my seat waiting to see how things would play out. The story is very original, imaginative, and well-woven. And was everything I could have hoped for (and more) from this talented author. The characters were superbly crafted into fully developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks and flaws. They really brought the whole story to life and added so much more depth and ‘flavour’ to the whole adventure. I love Rovena- she is such a feisty, strong, kick-a( ) character. But this demon hunter also has a few surprises up her sleeve, too. The story is set to continue in future instalments- so I can’t wait for the next book to see where we go from here! If you love fantasy, the paranormal/supernatural, demons, witches, good vs evil, sinister agendas, intriguing characters, and spell-binding storylines- then you will definitely want to snap up a copy of this book, asap. It’s not a mystery to the reader who is the murderer in this story as it starts out with a chapter from the killer’s perspective. We then follow Fitz who is a police detective in New York. He is working with Captain Jack to hopefully find the serial killer before he strikes again. During the investigation we met some of Fitz’s chosen family. One of those turns out to be MJ. The same woman who has had a crush on Fitz since she was five. MJ sometimes struggles with the level of protectiveness that Fitz displays, and also her long held feelings for him. Fitz does everything he can to hunt the killer, but keeps his family number one always. I had to keep reading to discover what was going to happen. I was fully invested in the characters and the story from the start! In Uniquely Mine you can find crime, romance, and family devotion.

Read the first novel in the Fitz series, Uniquely Mine first!! In the second novel, Silent Innocence, Fitz is brought into to discover if there is a connection between a string of recent kidnappings and the murder of one girl. While he was walking through the precinct, he saw a little girl, Stella, who was in tears. Fitz discovers Stella is deaf, and signs with her to communicate that he is going to help her. It is discovered that Stella’s mom, Effy, has also been kidnapped. Through his investigation Fitz encounters a friend of the murder victim, Hudson, who is a lot of help to him in finding the truth of what has happened to the girls. I love how fast paced these stories are, and how vivid the details allow the reader to be fully immersed in the story!

Read the first three books in the Fitz series before proceeding. The fourth book focuses on the relationship between Fitz’s brother/best friend, Andy. Andy is a single dad. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but he doesn’t want that to hold him back. Andrew, his ex-husband, wants to meet Andy to see if they have another shot. Meanwhile, Fitz has begun an investigation into some deaths of homosexual men that were all ruled as suicide. The deeper the investigation goes, the more Fitz is convinced that there is a serial killer who is targeting homosexual men and Andy might be next. A page turner once again. I binged the first four books in this series over three days! I can’t wait until the next one is finished!

I love A good hot cowboy story and Amos definitely fits the bill. The author does a great job of introducing Olivia to the series and the connection that you see forming between Olivia and Mrs. Applebottom really brings some depth to the story. I enjoy that the author brought back Mrs. Applebottom and that this author has all characters from the first book playing equal part in this story even though it is about Amos. So often an author just takes characters and shift them to the back burner instead of letting them be an Integral part of every story.
The camaraderie between Olivia and Bella is sweet and I really like the fact that there’s no cattiness just two grown women enjoying each other‘s company and slowly becoming friends.
I find it beyond amusing how Bella has overtaken the house and the men. I love how much they’ve grown to respect her, become afraid of her, and have excepted her fully into their home and family.
This series feels like coming home to a little cabin with the fire going, blankets around your shoulders, Hot chocolate in cups, and being surrounded by the people you love most in this world. It has that type of cozy, warm feel to it that you just want to enrapture yourself with.
Just like with Levi, this story has some action and suspense. It was a great twist to see how far one character falls. I hope that at some point we get a little more background into each of the ladies pasts as I don’t feel there was enough history given, but Edith MacKenzie is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Don’t miss out on this series especially if you like cowboys, strong women, and a clean wholesome romance.

This was another great installment that just knocks this series out of the park! This was adventurous, and the fun just never stops. I loved the dragon! It added so much more danger and excitement. Death & Mirrors (All Things Dark & Deadly #1) by S.F. Benson
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Death & Mirrors is a fantastic read. I had a hard time putting this book down. I’m looking forward to the next book. This is the first book in the All Things Dark & Deadly Series.
Evaline is a necromancer and is trying to bring her mother’s ghost forward. She feels like she didn’t get a proper goodbye. Her father doesn’t approve of the magic use. Then something happens and Evaline knows the only thing that can stop it. The quote I chose for Evaline is: “No. I can take care of it myself. Were you or maybe Mr. Pemberton on the steps earlier?”

This was a fantastic sequel! I liked this one a lot more than the first. Not only did it have more action, but it was emotional (at least to me) as well! The first book I already loved because it was so well written, and while this one doesn’t disappoint in that regard either, this one just had a lot more depth. I highly recommend this series! These books should be read in order, however, this second book had a very in depth summary of the first book so reading the first isn’t strictly required since the author gives you all the background you need for this one.

Each book in this series gets better and better!! The family is all over the place, completely spread out. Kara and her family are staying in her mother’s hometown with family but they aren’t as welcoming as one would suspect. Kara also finds out that she will be married soon. Doesn’t she get a say in this? Sorven is going to Jorvik to see what, if anything, can be recovered from recent adventures. Oh the things that he runs into along the way. Cub is working like a dog in the camp that he’s been committed to. Will he ever find his way out and back to a life of freedom? Finn and Karl are still on the seas battling all sorts of strange creatures. It takes Karl awhile to warm up to Finn’s new way of life but once he does, things start improving somewhat. My favorite part of this book was Finn’s pet! Again, very well written and chocked full of adventure! I’m looking forward to book 4 and more of Kara’s story!

This book picks up about two weeks after the first one ends. As with the other book, there are multiple stories being told at once. Sometimes, it’s hard for me to keep it all straight but these books are SOOO GOOD!!! So, Willa is now married but not without some drama on her wedding night. Men come to exact their revenge on Karl but they are not successful. However, it will find the Kara and her family being on the run to save their lives while Karl takes Finn out on the ship with him. Cub goes with this dad to fight against Alfred the Great. Let’s just say that things don’t go as planned for any of these characters! Between the bears, trolls, mermen, wolves, elves….it’s all up in the air as to how things will develop. I suspect things may not be as they immediately seem though either. I have a feeling the author has something up his sleeve for book three!! While the first book was difficult for me to get into, I’m so thankful I didn’t give up! I’m really enjoying this series to far and look forward to learning more about Finn and his family!

This is the story of two teenagers that seem to be very different but end up having more in common than they thought. This was my first book by this author, and although it is not normally a genre I read since it is about teenagers in high school, I thought that it was well written and a beautiful story. Parts of it were predictable, but I really enjoyed the visibility and representation it gives to individuals with medical conditions that make their lives more difficult. There are some mature scenes in the book, but I think it touches on so many important topics for teenagers and the adults in the lives of teens (teachers, school staff, parents, etc) such as bullying, medical disabilities, friendship, courage, peer pressure, and depression. I definitely recommend this book and it was a quick, enjoyable read.
I hate to admit but it took me quite awhile to get into this one. Around 100 pages or so as a matter of fact. I kept getting lost in the multitude of characters. However, had I noticed the family tree at the back of the book before I started reading, it would have helped me to keep things a little straighter.
I enjoyed learning about Thorfinn (Finn for short) and his family. They are in the midst of planning a wedding for Finn’s sister when a dark being comes to their family homestead and attacks one of Finn’s brothers. Finn starts to research and try to find this being and in the end, runs into a witch. We all know they generally aren’t good for anything. When he gets tangles up with her, he finds himself in a whole new world of mystical beings.
Once I got the hang of the story, I found this to be a very enjoyable book! There is a lot of Norse and Viking history covered, of which I’m not super familiar with but I am learning! I’ll be covering this series through book 3 here shortly!

S.F Benson did a fantastic job putting fantasy, mystery, and magic into one book. Evaline has no clue at first what her Mother left behind, she wanted to find out more. Between the two worlds one in the mirror and the other where Evaline is, there was something trying to come into her world as well. Evaline tries to find out what it is but without her Mother helping to understand her powers it becomes harder for her.
This book is so much page turning it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. If you love mystery, spinning, page-turner, and fantasy this is the book for you.

This book is an amazing read. You get wrapped in the characters and invested in their stories almost immediately. It’s a well-written book and the beginning of the Astoria Bay Thunder series.
This book follows the heart-wrenching and heart-melting love story of Brynn and Levi. Brynn is a woman that has been through a lot in the last couple of years leading up to the start of the book. She is a determined independent powerhouse that won’t let anything prevent her from achieving her dreams. Levi is a professional hockey player that has more than just a few “adoring” female fans.
Read this book to watch their love story unfold and to their fall back into love with each other. Like all great love stories, you get to watch these endure many things that should have torn their love apart. You won’t want to put this book down once you start. The book is the perfect length not too long and not too short. Would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys romance and enemies to lovers.
